Oreo and cookie butter leige waffle
Kevin D.

Still great waffles, seems to be slipping on quality Came here because I was in the mood for waffles and this is my go-to spot. Server was nice but the place was weirdly quiet for a Sunday morning. I ordered the recommended waffle and latte. Got my waffle relatively quickly and dug in. Waffle was still really good, but the batter was a little overworked. Wasn't as airy or soft in the middle as other times I've been. Toppings were mostly good, the whipped cream was not made fresh and tastes out of a can. A little too sweet and not as creamy. The latte was weak, pretty much was straight up milk with little coffee flavor. It still worked but was lacking. Overall, kind of a letdown. It seems like they are starting to cut corners and the result is translating to their end product. It's still a good waffle, but I feel like it's starting to slide a little on its quality. Hoping my experience was an off-day, will probably stick to the waffles only for my next pass but it's a bit of a concern.

My husband and I had a great experience at Zinneken's Belgian Waffles! The waffles were absolutely delicious--perfectly crisp on the outside and sweet, light, and fluffy on the inside. You can really tell they're made fresh, and the quality stands out with every bite. The speculous coffee was just as impressive--rich, smooth, and a perfect complement to the waffles. It's not always easy to find a place that does both food and coffee this well, but they nailed it. This place is a great spot to relax and enjoy a treat. We will definitely be coming back!

This place is so cute on the walk in, you are see your food and find a table once your food is ready they will bring it to you. The food was delicious. The home fries were delicious and I'm a home fry girlie , the waffle was nice and warm with a little sweetness

My wife and I have been talking about checking this place out and we finally made it. Zinneken's did not disappoint us. The home fries are wonderful and shouldn't be overlooked. However, the star of the show will always be the waffles. We ordered the Manneken Pi's, my wife had her's with turkey bacon and I had bacon. So delicious and delightful. I also ordered the Sin, Nutella and banana, and OMG my life is changed. Finally, the coffee selection is on point. I full disclosure I don't think I will try and other options in the future because the Belgium Speculoos Latte. So incredibly delicious! The staff is friendly and very helpful with the menu and options. The ambiance is like a European cafe and so cozy and welcoming. Will definitely be back again.

I checked out Zinneken's in June after a girls' night at a friend's house nearby based on their recommendation. The cafe itself is small with few tables and not much seating--don't expect to bring a large group here. It also took a long time to place our orders, even though there weren't many people in line in front of us. There is a menu board on the wall and there are laminated menus to peruse in line while waiting, but they weren't handed down to us. After all that, ordering at the register was easy and staff were friendly. We were given a number for our table and waited for our food to be brought to us. I had the affogato and liege waffle with strawberries, Nutella, and whipped cream, with a side of bacon. It seemed a bit pricey but the waffle was delicious. The affogato was messy, but a delightful treat. There is a limit on how long you can stay (though the place was nearly empty by the time we left, so they didn't enforce this). I would return if I were in the area, but I don't think I'd make a special trip from home, given it's nearly an hour away.

This restaurant gives me cafe vibes for sure. Order at the counter and they will bring out your food. The wait was longer than expected, however it was worth it. My eggs Benedict over a waffle was delicious. My husband expected his portion to be a little larger. ( single waffle ) No discount for omitting the meat offered on the menu items.

Zinneken's was a great breakfast find! I loved the warm welcome at the door and the interior is so cute. I got the iced Belgian speculoos single shot latte and it was delicious! Anything with cookie butter is right up my alley. To eat, I got the Zinneken breakfast plate and a cookie butter waffle. The breakfast plate was good but the star of the show was the waffle! I'm thankful I don't live close enough to come here every morning because I would for a waffle. Every. Morning. I recommend coming with a small group of 2 or 3 max. Their tables are very small and I couldn't see 4 people sitting at one with all their plates and drinks comfortably. Looking forward to trying a different waffle variation my next visit

I came on a Saturday at 12:30 and there were a few tables open and plenty of parking spots available. I ended up getting a liege waffle with strawberry, banana, chocolate, and whipped cream along with Japanese detox tea. The waffle was delicious! I loved the flavor and texture. Although, it definitely is on the smaller side so if you're hungry you'll need to order sides to make it a full meal. I also enjoyed the tea. This is a great spot for a quick waffle but not a good spot if you're looking to sit and chat for a long time, as they do have a sign asking people to not stay too long due to limited seating.

I've been a couple times and every time i go , it always hits. Waffles are so soft and they're not afraid of putting the toppings on top. Service is amazing. Everyone is very polite. The seating and the vibes are amazing. it's so cute inside!

Zinneken's is a warm quaint cafe with a european flair that specializes in Belgium waffles, and their website states made by actual Belgium's. The decor here makes it so inviting. You have a choice of two different types of waffles, the Brussels Waffle that is light and crispy, (only served on weekends) or the Liege Waffle that is soft and chewy made from dough with caramelized pearl Belgium sugar. There is an assortment of toppings for your waffle. They also sell an assortment of coffees, teas smoothies, omelettes, eggs, bagels, home fries, etc. We ordered two Liege waffles one with strawberries, and chocolate drizzle, the other with bananas whip cream, and caramel drizzle. OMG they were by far the best waffles we have ever had. We both also enjoyed a delicious, pumpkin spice latte. The owner is spot on with her hardwork & great personality which definitely warms you into this cafe.

"Espresso" Macchiato (in reality: watered down coffee with foam)

Don't believe the hype! I was looking forward to trying this place, because I love Liège waffles, and the coffee menu looked pretty great . If you are not familiar with Liège style waffles, they are made from dough instead of batter. They are supposed to be crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. These were not that. These were pale, soft, limp waffles that were raw dough on the inside. When the server asked me how they were, I was honest with her, and she told me that they turn out differently every time they make them. As if I don't know what raw flour tastes like or know the waffle is not supposed to be gummy, raw dough inside. It also had a weird taste like from a mix instead of from scratch. She offered to have them make me a "crispy" one. I was seriously just going to let it go, not make them remake it and leave. I'm not the person who seeks a refund, I am the person who just doesn't come back. I let her go ahead and have them make it "crispy." I knew this would not fix the weird flavor, but at least I would have more to eat than eggs and bacon for $20. 15 minutes later, she returned with a waffle exactly like the first one. She stopped using the word "crispy" and said, " I had them remake your waffle. Hopefully you can like this one." I cut the pale, soft, limp waffle open, and there was raw dough in the center. I asked my dining partner (who finished her food 10 minutes ago) if we could please just leave (she had been pushing me to seek a refund). She agreed, and we left, and I will mourn the loss of my $20, but it was not worth seeking a refund when I had eaten the eggs (eggs that never saw a grain of salt in their lives but were cooked to the proper temp) and bacon (boring and bland but cooked exactly how I ordered), and I was certainly not going to be interested in a coupon for future use, because I will not be going back. The server was very nice, and the place was very clean. The espresso macchiato was also a huge letdown. Typically, this would be espresso with a little foam on top. What I received tasted more like boring, drip coffee with a little foam on top. If that was espresso, someone either does not know how to pull shots, or they are seriously watering their espresso shots down. I really wanted to like this place, especially with how sweet the woman working there was, but this was a huge waste of time and money. I will never go back. Useful tip: liege waffles are available on weekdays. Brussels waffles are available weekends (Brussels waffles are commonly what are served as Belgian waffles in many diners). Maybe this place would make a better Brussels waffle? I am not going back to find out. No thanks!

Belgian Speculoos Latte

Say goodbye to Eggo waffles because there's no going back after this one. Or at least if you go back you'll be very disappointed. Unless you're a very happy person of course. Whatever floats your boat. I know I just can't eat any other waffles for at least a few months after eating Zinneken's. Just know that Zinnekens set my new standard for waffles. This also means that if you ever have a bad waffle, this is the place you visit to make up for that bad experience. Upon walking in, you're hit with a very "pretty" and clean interior. Seating is just fine with some window benches that will have your knees rubbing against the low tables but anything for these waffles. During my first visit, I was provided with plenty of reccomendations and explanations. Glad I listened to everyone because I loved everything that came out of the kitchen I have tried a couple of their waffles to include the Chocolate Liege Waffle and the Strawberry Glamour w/extra raspberries. Their Liege Waffles are to die for. You'll also feel like you're gonna die from a sugar overdose afterwards but if I were to go down like that, I would be just fine. The Berries Insanity was soft, chewy and topped with bright red berries. This amazing Chocolate sauce was drizzled over it and one of the best whipped creams I've ever had was waiting for me beside my waffle. The Chocolate Waffle provided the same amazing experience minus the Berries. No fruit to save your health, you're purely indulging at this point. Waffle heaven. Good waffles come here after they die. To go with my already sweet and heavy waffle, I got their special Belgian Speculoos Latte. Very sweet and well made of course. If you're into the sugar it's the perfect latte but if you need something to counter it, I reccomend a simple cappuccino like I did during my second visit. Well you'll only need one waffle, hopefully, as they were very filling which also keeps the price down low which is nice. The service was quick, very friendly and knowledgeable like I mentioned earlier. In conclusion, this is the only place I would come for waffles, unless I wanted it with meat of course. Belgian Liege Waffles from Zinneken's are the only way to go fir me if i choose the sweet route for breakfast. At this point, I'll be coming here on a weekly basis. They're that good.

Decades earlier, Sneideman's wife said that he should make his own restaurant called "Skyscraper", in reference to New York City. Sneideman didn't end up opening a restaurant, but he did spend over 25 years in the culinary field where he spent time managing fast-casual restaurants. Eventually he decided that he wanted to work for himself and an opportunity for a new food truck came along. He finally had the chance to use the name "Skyscraper", and the focus of the menu became New York-style deli sandwiches. Many of the sandwiches feature corned beef or pastrami, such as 'Reubens' and 'Rachels'. Skyscraper Sandwiches can usually be found parked at breweries, wineries, farmers' markets, and various festivals throughout Connecticut. Sneideman is often assisted by members of his own family. My family and I sampled some of Skyscraper's delicious sandwiches this past autumn. We were visiting Long View Ciderhouse in Southington and Skyscraper Sandwiches was the scheduled food truck that day. I can't say no to a good Jewish-style deli sandwich. After looking over the menu, I ordered a "Turkey Cranberry Melt" (hand-carved roasted turkey, cranberry sauce, tomatoes, melted Swiss on grilled rye), my wife ordered the "Reuben" (pastrami, Swiss cheese, truck sauce, and sauerkraut on grilled rye), and our older son ordered the "Pastrami Grilled Cheese" (pastrami, melted Swiss, sweet onion jam on grilled rye). These were huge sandwiches and very filling! The meats were delicious as well as the rye bread that they use. The sandwiches paired well with our cider flights. I really hope that I run into Skyscraper Sandwiches again!

The rye bread was awesome and expertly grilled. The turkey was outstanding and good juicy. And check out the pics and see the unique way they grooved the turkey. Loved it. The Swiss - melted! It was a bit hard to pick up with the substantial stack of other ingredients. Skyscraper indeed! 4.5 Stars with a round up to 5. I'm watching you Skyscraper Truck

I'm not kidding when I say the total came to 50$. I was so shocked since I'm used to spending at least 75 when the two of us go out. I tried my daughter's pho and the flavor was definitely there. The tacos were amazing. So so good. The set up is like chipotle. The toppings I chose were sour cream, hot sauce, fresh jalapeños, cilantro, radish, and red onion. There's also a fire chilli sauce that I got a side of over by the plasticware and napkins. Elevated the tacos even more. Chefs kiss! "But I don't eat at trucks," you say. "Your loss," I say. It's time for a little culinary daredeviltry and to boldy go where you've never gone before. Normally I review based on ambience, service, and food. Obviously you're not going to have much ambience at a food truck, so we'll bypass that one. Though, honestly, in the shadow of the Wadsworth Atheneum is as good a place as any to grab lunch. If you go Wed-Fri, you can eat on the Atheneum steps, and then visit the museum. Dogger's open on Mon and Tues, too, but just sayin'. The service is top-notch. Mr. and Mrs. Dogger are good people. They enjoy what they do, and it shows. The food is prepared to order, it's quick, and even a first-timer is made to feel like an old friend. The food (which is why you're here, after all), is excellent. I've never had a bad meal here. Pulled pork, buffalo chicken (with extra buffalo), meatball or meatloaf grinder, and, of course, dogs; they're all great. The sandwiches are tasty, they're fresh, and I love the bread. There's a certain establishment kitty "corner" to the Dogger, a "stone's" throw away, shall we say, that shall go nameless, which no matter how much I want to like it, I just can't get past the crappy bread. That's why I mention the bread at the Dogger: it's really good. I suppose my one grouse is they don't carry coleslaw for the pulled pork, but that's not for a lack of trying. For some reason, you philistines who inhabit the Connecticut River Valley don't top your pulled pork with coleslaw (really people?) so Mrs. Dogger got tired of throwing it away. Apparently I was the only one who kept asking for it. It was good coleslaw, people! Ah, well, there's always got to be one little niggle; nothing's perfect. Do yourself a favor, get over your thing about trucks and head to the Dogger. You'll get good eats cheap, from two really nice people and before you know it you'll be saying to your friends "Hey, let's head to the Dogger for lunch" as they all give you funny looks for going to the truck.
