Over the weekend my husband and I found ourselves with kid-free time. We were supposed to be productive and do laundry and housework, but you know what sounds more fun? Lunch out without kids! We wanted to walk along the water here so we decided to go to Twisted Fork - it's been four years since our last visit and we normally ALWAYS go to BoRan, so it was an easy choice. Last time we were here we just did drinks so it was fun to finally get to try the food. They have a really solid happy hour menu and it's all day every day. You can't beat that! Their regular menu is also great, and we ordered a mix of things from different menus. They have a great selection for drinks with local hazy IPAs and our favorite tequila. Win! I want to come back for a girl's brunch because they have $4 mimosas/$18 mimosa buckets. A steal! After years together my husband and I have learned that our best way to order 90% of the time is splitting an app and splitting an entree. Good thing our tastes are very closely aligned. We started with the Brie dip, which admittedly I thought was a little overpriced at $21, but it was DELICIOUS. It's served with a generous portion of melty, gooey brie and alongside bread, apples, and grapes for dipping. For our entree we got the Smash Burger which we both agreed wasn't quite a classic smash burger, but it was still really good. Loved the pub sauce they used on it. Went here recently for happy hour. The food was pretty good, we got the smash burger which had a properly smashed thin patty and was wide. I prefer that over thick patties. The cheese curds and marinara were tasty although the marinara was a tad bit sweet. The avocado bites were very interesting and the chipotle sauce gave it a nice flavor. The ambience was very good with lots of screens and multiple shows and sports going on. They also had interactive live trivia on one. The servers were very quick and super friendly. Very disappointed about bar tenders service! I went to the neighborhood for a quick to-go order. I saw my food ready and sat on the counter over 10 mins. I tried to give a hint to her without disturbing her work. Wandering around Point Ruston for a place to eat, my friends and I stumbled upon a poster outside Twisted Fork Saloon advertising how they were having "All You Can Eat" boneless wings and fries on Monday. Being as hungry as we were, we came right in to try it out. After waiting for nearly half an hour the three of us were served a basket of "boneless wings" and fries. I'm sorry, but this remotely resembled anything of a boneless wing. It was basically just uncoated chicken nuggets. Not only were they nuggets, but they were quite dry and bland. They gave you some sauce options, and each one of us got a different sauce to try out but it was all just lackluster. Somehow the free ranch that was given was way better than the sauces. The only good thing about the meal was the fries, and even then they were just average. The food was poor, and the only redeeming quality I can point out was the friendly service. We were browsing Ruston way and we decided to try this place since we tried it in Florida. When we first walked in it's completely different than the one in Florida, that one is more fun, but I would say it's still pretty cute for drinks. The service was amazing, I wish I remembered her name. She was super sweet and fast. She was able to bond with all the customers and staffs. The best part that brighten my day is a dog was waiting for her and knowing she would feed him snacks! So definitely 5 stars for the service!! For the food-wise, it's okay. Honestly when we tried this place we weren't expecting to go here. The restaurant near by turned us away for hot water issues. But, my family and I had a great experience here. You walk in and seat yourself. Our server was nice and attentive but straight to the point no chit chat which I don't mind at all. After moving to Ruston Point, we sampled all of the restaurants over the course of several months. Twisted Fork is THE restaurant that has become our second home, go-to spot in Tacoma. The service is friendly, the food is always good, and their drinks can't be beat. We have tried most of their menu at this point and haven't found an item we don't like. Our repeat favorites include: Mac and Cheese Gouda bites, burger/pulled pork sliders, Thai chicken salad (can be made into a wrap), Twisted fries and and Twisted chips, and the jumbo wings. They have started hosting Trivia every Wednesday with the first round starting at 7pm. For drinks, we repeatedly order the Bloody Mary, Pub beer ($2 all day, every day), and the Marion berry seltzer. She made sure our parking stayed validated the entire time we were there which we appreciated because the parking situation at Pt Ruston is a joke. She kept drink orders refilled. The meh - food tasted good but was spendy. The cons - Food portions were not worth the price. I had a grilled chicken which was tiny. Sandwiches don't come with fries. $19 for a tiny sandwich and order of fries was too much. Prices are not on the printed menus. You have to go online but even then I don't think they matched up with the bill. They will also charge a fee if you want to use your credit card which I didn't know until my bill came. There is an ATM on site but I didn't realize that until I had already paid. My overall bill was $30 for a Shirley Temple, a tiny sandwich and an order of fries. It's a cute little place located in the Pt Ruston village. We wanted to love it but alas, it turned out to be pricey for what you got and the food just so so. My friend got a French dip and you usually think that with a sandwich in a pub you'll eat half and take half home. But this was so small that an entire sandwich was equal to half of a normal French dip. My friend said it was ok, not wonderful. I had a harvest salad that had grilled chicken, blue cheese, pecans and dried cranberries. It was a huge amount and came with poppy seed dressing. It was good but not wonderful. You don't get any sides with your sandwiches, you have to order fries or tots separately which always makes me nuts. If you're paying that much at least give me some fries. The tots were cooked property but so salty. The best part was the wine, they have a small but good selection and they do a good poor. Other tables started filling up after we were seated. We got Hummus Platter and Bone In Wings to start. The Hummus platter was good. We got 12 wings, with 3 sauces, Salt & Pepper, Sweet & Smokey BBQ, and Buffalo. The wings, all 3 flavors were good. We then got Twisted Philly, Twisted Ruben, Crispy Chicken Club, Tacos De Pollo, and Salmon Sliders. The Crispy Chicken Club, and Salmon Sliders were good. Tacos De Pollo were very bland, we were hoping for some chilli sauce. The Twisted Philly and Twisted Ruben were disappointments. When ordering we asked for what she would recommend, and she suggested Twisted Philly and Twisted Rueben. The Twisted Philly the meat felt stale, and the sandwich was cold when we got it. For drinks we ordered a mixed drink "strawberry lemonade fizz" and an IPA beer plus the two appetizers; Buffalo chips, Mac & Cheese sliders for around $49 Pro TIP- ask the wait staff about parking apparently it's now all heavily enforced now by "Diamond Parking co". So be sure to scan the QR code upon entry to record and register your car's license plate so you don't get a parking ticket surprise! I recommend that since you hardly get any cell signal to check into registering your parking slot before entering the restaurant for a long duration. She told us usually within 15 mins they are writing up citations. So be sure to do that before settling into your happy hour The down to earth and nice waitress lady seemed to be the only one on shift to take care of the tables and maybe one shred on duty? Maybe more help later on in the evenings when they'd expect a bigger crowd? The atmosphere is very rustic and historic with a lot of old town light bulbs, exposed rustic pipes and fans and iron work. With old town pictures down the hall towards the complexes shared restrooms inside the historic Smokestack Point Ruston Tacoma museum. A pretty cool spot with game boards. We enjoyed ourselves. They offer the menu via QR code and the wifi name and password since cell service didn't seem to be very good. We ordered a crack wrap to share and I wasn't a fan. The cheese and Buffalo sauce didn't seem to mix well in my opinion. We also got a side order of fries and cheeseburger sliders to share as well. The sliders were medium done and a bit too pink for us, but no choice in changing that per menu notes. The house sauce was a relish thousand island dressing and seemed to be globbed on each slider. I thought the appetizers were good. We had the brie fondue and hummus platter. They do have a veggie patty, but it's not posted on the menu. Just went today and the food was not good. I had the wrap with chicken, Mac and cheese, and bacon. The cheese sauce on the mac & cheese was so bad that I couldn't eat it and I just tried to pick out some of the chicken that didn't have the sauce on there. I know the waiter must have noticed that I barely ate anything and she never even asked if the food was OK a good waiter would notice that if someone doesn't really touch their food Then it must've not been that good and ask if I would want something else.
