That was a huge error because all of the other commitments couldn't add up to the experience here. Rhein Haus is an authentic German restaurant. It has an excellent beer section, great food, and looks like it has fun games. The staff was super friendly, and we had a great time. We started with some beers, a sausage sampler, and a giant pretzel. Get this, and you will be treated to some excellent food. But the entree was even better. I opted for the Jagerschnitzel with beef goolash, braised cabbage, and warm potato salad. I have no idea how goolash is made, but it was incredible. The flavor was so rich, and I pictured how great it would have been on a cold Denver night. Unfortunately for me, it was like 80 degrees outside. The schnitzel was equally wonderful, but that warm potato salad was even better. My goodness, it was delicious. Is it wrong that I am thinking of flying back in just to come visit here? That is how great it was to me.

I used to…read morehang out a lot with some Czech friends back then, so they were really excited when this place opened. That's when I got to know the place. It's had its seasons of ebb and flow as far as traffic, but it's remained a very consistent crowd of regulars. As they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same. There's something refreshing about that, when the world changes so much, so rapidly. As also happens, I don't "hang out" as much as I did in my younger years. But, I still visit and say hello on occasion. Whenever the first winter snap or snow hits for the season, I make a point to go in for the Chicken Paprika. It is a healthy serving and just warms the belly. If there's a Cowboys game on that's not televised locally, it's on my list for places to go to watch the game. And, of course, it's the only hockey bar in town and has been FOREVER. Otherwise, they have the same karaoke nights they've had for those with voices made for a microphone (not it). They still do bands on occasion, as well. It's always a good time. With the two patios (one heated in front and one in back), the main bar and the pool room, you're bound to find a seat next to a friendly face. It's a solid, enthusiastic crowd!

The food, unfortunately, was the most disappointing part of the experience. I didn't order any traditional Czech food, but I figured chicken tenders would be a safe choice since you really can't go wrong with chicken tenders, right? Turns out, you can. They were pretty underwhelming, and honestly, I think most fast-food chains do them better. On a more positive note, the fries were actually pretty good and ended up being the highlight of the meal for me. If I were to come back, I'd probably try something else off the menu, especially one of their Czech dishes, since that's what they're known for. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but it also didn't leave me excited to return.

From the customer service and environment to the food and whiskey selection, I'm always impressed at how high quality of a long standing institution this is in Denver. On my most recent trip, a bar fight broke out, but our waiter James handled this with ease... even though he got punched in the face. We tipped him well. Food is always fantastic. Get the prime rib alongside a draft beer. We also ordered Tacos and Loaded Potato Skins as appetizers. I'd love to sit at the bar next time to dig into their whiskey selection!

I have been coming here since I was a kid and back then the place was packed with orange T-shirts and full of smoke. Fans would wield Bloody Mary's and cheer on the Broncos with Craig Morton at the helm. Now it is more refined and smoke free, but still a great place to enjoy sports. The classic Eggs Benedict has always been my favorite and what I get just about every time. You can't go wrong! In my younger days I would toss back a couple bloody Mary's but times change and now I mostly get Corvus Cold Brew, both drinks are solid choices. If you haven't been here you need to visit. Eat some food, cheer on your favorite team, and hit Target on the way home! BTW, Target is another Glendale anchor! Cheers, my friends!
