I bought a house in Oregon before ever seeing it in person, or even visiting the area in which it was located. Crazy, right? On my way to finally check it out, I passed Bernards Farm, and was smitten before even entering. They have the cutest shop set up in their giant white old-fashioned barn. Fresh floral arrangements and dried wreaths line one wall. Displays of in-shell walnuts and filberts overflow, along with roasted and chocolate covered varieties of that most delicious of Oregon nuts, even brittle! You will find vegetables and an assortment of leafy greens, frozen berries, meat, granola, dry beans, honey, herbs, and other plants and flowers. They offer seasonal fruit, and I was delighted to spy glistening garnet strawberries. I thought I was getting them for a steal at $11 for three pints, until I observed the two customers in front of me carrying giant cardboard flats of berries that were getting weighed and priced around $6. I then noticed the chalkboard behind the register advertising U-pick strawberries at $1.50lb. That's a deal for grocery store berries, let alone gorgeous fresh-picked ones! I was happy to pay my $11, but you best believe I returned as soon I finished up those lovelies and picked my own. There were plenty and it only took a half hour to gather six pounds! Each time I have checked out the cashiers have been sweet as pie. They even shared which strawberry varieties I'd picked (Sweet Charlie and Albion). And since Bernards is not quite in the thick of all the other farm stands, they have never been too busy. Their prices seem a little lower as well, but regardless the quality is excellent, and worth whatever they ask. Bernard's Farm is about ten minutes from my new home, and it truly cemented the feeling that I have chosen the right spot to settle. While I hope to grow much of my own food, I will absolutely be stopping by Bernards for lots of extra goodies (especially the chocolate covered hazelnuts which I just can't stop eating!). read more

Cute little farm store that runs out of an old barn. They had some nice fresh fruits and packaged snacks that made for a good stop. Right outside, there was a flower shop as well. Parking was limited and not well marked, so confusing. There was a portable toilet too. read more

Need to improve customer service skills. Was overcharged, then let them know a few minutes after I left their farm stand and was made to wait while they checked out long line of customers instead of taking the 30s to provide me a refund. The lady even tried making me wait for her to check out customers that arrived after I did for the refund. Waste of my time! read more

Out west past McMinnville off Highway 18 is Bernards Farm. It is a real live farm; where they grow, shell and sell their walnuts and hazelnuts, they grow and harvest fresh fruits and make their own preserves. They have flowers and cacti. They have potted plants available for purchase. They have in daffodils in their parking area (daffodils are now in bloom) What more can I say? I bought a few small bags of nuts; walnuts and hazelnuts to be specific. The freshness of the nuts cannot be measured by the prepared nuts you find in the supermarkets. There is a sign on the counter that says "We are Here! Stand By, We will be back shortly". If you are in a hurry, you can purchase their goods on an honor system; there is a jar where you can leave your payment for what you purchase. Stopped in at this place before Christmas. I was looking for a place for hazelnuts as my sister, back east, expressed a desire for more. Spent some time looking through FB market place, couldn't find anyone that would ship. Exchanged, too many messages from a person listing some for sale. A friend suggested this place & it was absolutely perfect for what I was looking for & then some!! Lady working there couldn't have been more friendly & helpful. She even told me that if she was out of ear shot there was a box on the counter, honor system, to pay for whatever I was going to purchase!!! Who does that anymore??? To say the least, I left there w/way more than hazelnuts!!! Sent a 5lb bag to my sister & she was thrilled. Definitely recommend stopping in here & no doubt I will be back!! read more

I have to admit, I have not gone to Bernard's too often. I was a regular at Farmer John's, but lately that business is lacking. Recently, my family and I have gone to Bernard's a few times and always the customer service is great! It's an old barn and has been updated on the outside. I stopped here last month and have stopped in every week since. Reminds me of a farm I worked on as a kid. Besides nostalgia, I can pick up my fruits and vegetables for the week at a fraction of the cost of a grocery store. Haven't been disappointed with anything yet.
