The patties (1/4 lb) are super thin and loaded with veggies, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but couldn't really even taste the patty. Wenatchee definitely loves its burger places, and we've always heard good things about Burnie's, so we finally decided to give it a try. We were 4th in line, and at first it felt like it was taking a really long time to get up to the window. Once we got closer, it made sense -- there was one person working the window and another back there cooking. They were doing their best to keep things moving, but with just two people handling everything, it was clear why the line was slow. When we did get our food, everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming, which stood out right away. The only downside was that the food wasn't as hot as we hoped. That was a little disappointing, because you can tell they're trying hard, and nobody likes to see that effort fall short. Even so, I want to give them credit. Running a small operation like that isn't easy, and I think they're putting their heart into it. That's why I'm still giving them 3 stars. I plan on coming back again because I believe they can iron out the kinks. Wenatchee supports its local spots, and I'd love to see Burnie's thrive and become one of those go-to favorites. It really just comes down to tightening up the timing so the food can be served hot and fresh. Places like EZ's use a very similar cook-to-order model and are able to deliver quickly without sacrificing quality -- which makes me think Burnie's can absolutely get there too with a little more attention to process. Such a disappointing meal tonight!!!! I ordered the chicken club sandwich. I got 2 over fried and dry chicken strips on a roll. The roll had a dab of mayo, lettuce with brown pieces, and one strip of flabby bacon. There was no cheese or tomato like a usual club sandwich. My husband ordered shrimp/fish basket. He said the shrimp was ok, but not the fish. The fish was greasy and had no crunch. We were VERY disappointed and didn't eat much of our meal. read more

This time I was the only person in the drive through. I did not have to wait for anyone. I ordered the Pastrami and Swiss Sandwich on Rye--it came with mustard and onions, and I ordered Fries. From paying-for-my-order, to receiving-my-order, was 12 minutes. The sandwich was more than enough food at a fair price. The portion of pastrami was generous. The service was ok but the burger was not good. It didn't even taste like meat. Was very disappointing in the fact that I paid a lot of money and got a 1/4 pound burger that I could have pulled from the freezer that would have tasted better. We could have went to Red Robin for the same price and gotten a better meal. Very disappointing. The inside is dingy and the seats look gross like really old and haven't been cleaned since the 90s. I feel bad giving a bad review but I would not eat here and don't want others to pay that much for the same product I purchased. If you've been in the Wenatchee Valley for more than a few years, chances are you've been to Bernies. If you grew up in the Valley, chances are you remember going to Buddies or the Arctic Circle. This is a Wenatchee Valley homegrown good ole fashion burger joint. Although, I would describe Bernies as more of a "Fast Food Diner". They have one of the most unique and extensive menus in the fast-food category of restaurants. I would, however, rate their quality as better than fast food. The only reason it is considered fast food is because of the drive-through. They cook your food when it's ordered and it always comes out hot and fresh. They have also been consistently good over the years. I will speak specifically to my most recent visits now (yes, I go often enough to make that plural)... Buffalo chicken wings: Yeah, at a fast-food joint. You can't get these at too many fast food places, and even if they have them I will bet right now that they aren't as good as Bernies. If you're a wing fan, you'll like these. If you're a wing snob/enthusiast looking for the best wings around, Wenatchee isn't the place for you to be looking for world-class wings. Go to Portland, you hipster. Seahawk Burger: I hope they make this a permanent item. Of course, you can always customize a burger to have all of these great things on it, but it's just easier to say "I'll take your Seahawk Burger" (hold the onions of course! (I know, I'm a child and think onions are poison)). Other than adding mushroom, I can't think of a better combination of things to go with your delicious 1/2 pound of freshly cooked ground beef. Fish and chips: I did not order these, my wife did. I had a bite, but I'm not a connoisseur like my wife and brother are. I thought they were good. My wife said they were pretty good, a little on the greasy side for her preference, but still pretty good. My brother rates these as one of the better places in the Valley to get fish and chips IF you don't mind the greasy fishies. Again, for fast food standards (which I think Bernies is well above) it is top tier. Finally, I'll speak to their classic staple, the good ole Buddy (Bernie) cheeseburger (in the small burger section of the menu). I grew up getting this burger. This is a burger that I can go and get with my dad and as I eat it I feel like I'm a kid again, the sights and sounds around me change, life is simple again, I have no bills, I'm just a kid sitting there with my dad eating a Buddy burger, just for a moment. Then my dad starts to describe what it was like back when he was a kid, eating at the same place, the same burger. When you can go to a fast-food eatery, and get an experience like that, then the value you get from visiting Bernies goes from "yeah I'd probably come back again", to "This is a priceless gem in the Wenatchee Valley. An establishment that has been a part of the community for decades. A piece of history in the Valley that all can come and partake of." read more

I've been going to this place since it was Buddy's. It's nice that Wenatchee has fast food options besides the obvious McDonalds, Burger King, Jack in the Box. Im giving this place 4 stars because of the staff, 3.5 on the food. Had halibut and chips todat for under $10. Where else can you eat reasonably? The food is hot and fresh. They have $1 tacos on Tuesdays, so we swung bye to grab some. It was busy, but our order was super fast! As we drove home, we ate one. It tasted like pure ketchup was used instead of salsa. We called and while they offered to fix the issue we were also told there was ketchup in their salsa. (Gross) Fast forward to today, Thursday, and we went into town for appointments, so we swung back in to collect our "fixed" order. The tacos were lacking everything and what small amount of meat there was, was burnt and dry. Needless to say, I think I'll be avoiding their tacos from now on. Went through the driver thru at lunch today and ordered the buddy cheese combo. The lady working the drive thru was very hard of hearing, or maybe it was their speaker system, so repeated my order several times. Then waited 15 minutes in lane 1 for my order. I returned to work and started eating my burger. After a few bites, I looked down and the patty was raw. I left work and returned with the burger, and went inside. Bernie was there and had the burger remade. She was courteous, but unfortunately, I returned to work with a new burger but this time it was dry and had a weird after taste. Never had issues in the past with Bernies, used to eat there when it was Arctic Circle back in the day. Also, family members got there first jobs there, but it's going downhill in quality. Ordered fish and shrimp yesterday mid afternoon (4 pm). They were not very busy. I got to my motel and found they gave me just fish. Called them they put my name on the board to pick up a new order. The fish they gave me was not cooked and the breading was raw bearly brown outside. So I decided tho try the fries which were also not cooked.no dinner tonight. Today I went back to pick up the original order after waiting 25 minutes they said my order was ALMOST done they didn't want to give me uncooked fish. I decided I would just take a refund. The bottom bun was stale and hard (which I removed). The bun was not toasted and the hamburger patties were like dry hockey pucks. I was really looking forward to going in to grab some food for me and my gf. Went in Friday 3/22/24. I not only waited over 35 min for my food order, 2 people who came in after me got their food long before I did. There was no one else in the restaurant. I overheard the cook tell the waitress that they had given my buffalo wings away to the customer before me and that they would just try and give me barbecue instead. I can't eat barbecue sauce. I was never offered a refund for messing up my order. I paid $37 for my food and when I got home my burgers were undercooked and ice cold. I also never received the sauces I had asked for. Needless to say I was extremely upset. One of the worst food experiences I have ever encountered. I worked at Dusty's for many years, I get the food service industry and especially the fast paced burger one. I don't think I will ever be dining at this establishment again and I'm extremely dissatisfied. Just moved to Wenatchee and still discovering the local places to go to. We stopped by for a burger, and ended up ordering some chicken wings, too! Let's start out with the obvious. Bernie's looks like a local burger joint. It has the drive-thru and old furniture in side. But they advertise that they make all the food to order, and the offer some local/ seasonal offerings that sounded pretty good, like huckleberry ice cream. We ordered the cheese burger and instead of fries, we added hot wings. The burger was really good, like fresh vegetables, toasty buns and adequate sauce on the burger. It was made fresh and delivered on taste. The hot wings were also a crowd pleaser! The wings were crispy and fried up to perfection, with a hot and flavorful sauce that left our lips tingling from the heat. I've gone back a couple more times, and I have to say the food is consistently good. I haven't ventured out to the dessert part of the menu, but with the hot weather recently, I would probably check out the ice cream pretty soon. read more
