    Fish tacos

A friend recommended this spot while we were in the area for a show at the Metro. We were bar hopping around and decided to stop in. They had happy hour running with some good deals on food, and it happened that it worked perfectly for our group of three since the sliders and fish tacos came in a trio. The food was surprisingly good for bar food. We all liked the fish tacos the best as the fish was fresh and had a bit of spicy sauce. The sliders came with fries and I liked the crispy onions. Bernie's was a great spot for a bite to eat and a drink! The bartender was on the spot with service and we didn't wait long for anything. We were there during off season so it wasn't busy, which was nice. If I lived nearby, I could see this place becoming a regular spot for me.

I had pregame beers and lunch at Bernie's yesterday. We had a great time. We hung out in their beer garden. I ordered a flame grilled cheese burger with tots. It was a solid burger, and lots of beer choices to 'wash it down'. The staff was super friendly. This will be my go to pregame spot the next time I'm going to a cubs game.

Rude bartender on the Sunday night shift in the main bar area. If you like to be treated rudely this place is for you. If you want respect, as the bartender pointed out to me, there are plenty of other bars in the area. I took her advice.

Great atmosphere before, during and after a Cubs game! Good was good, drinks flowing. Service was fine. Since there were so many people move fast and know what you want! Paid meeting parking , duh! You are in the city. Get there early or else you will have to deal with whatever happens. Walking distance to Wrigley Field.

A great place to get lubed up for a baseball game!

My wife and I were visiting Chicago and were excited to see our SF Giants play the Cubs at Wrigley. We wanted to get a few drinks before the game but not at any of the sterile corporate bars. Bernie's looked like it had some character so decided to give it a try. It was a little crowded but we were able to get 2 seats at the bar and quickly made friends with some Cubs fans. Our bartender was a little standoffish at first but then warmed up, even giving us some tequila shots. I'd definitely come back here again

I am sitting here after a Cubs win and this place has a good amount of seating. Not my first choice of a Clark St. bar, but my dogs name is Bernie so we gave it a chance. The menu is typical, the service was good and the drink menu is lacking. I don't think I would bring anyone here and I'm missing what makes this place stand out when there are so many other choices close to the field. The mozzarella sticks are disgusting

We were looking for a place to eat near Wrigley before a Cubs game, and we ended up at this gem! We couldn't find a seat anywhere 1 hour before game time, but a table opened up as we were walking by : ) I was worried that our food wouldn't come soon enough, but 5 minutes later our food was hot and on the table! Everything we ordered was solid. The Italian beef was not Portillo's quality, but very respectable. And the tater tots were a home run! My daughter ordered the chicken tenders and they were very good, as were the French fries. Other daughter went healthy and ordered the hummus plate and she was delighted with her meal. All in all, Bernie's was a win. Highly recommended, especially if you're in a hurry. Less than a block from Wrigley.

Wow, what a great little spot with a lot of patio space in Wrigley. Stumbled upon this while looking for a place to get a drink and was pleasantly surprised. Clean tables, draft beer, lots of servers quickly bringing drinks. While we didn't order food, the other people were and seemed happy. Low key crowd so we will definitely come back. Couple of notes though. After a post Covid reopen, they weren't as clean and strict as the other establishments we've visited. Servers squeeze the lime in your drink or in one case delivered it with her thumb in it because of the way it was carried. There are arrows on the floor to promote which direct to go but it's a little unclear why and where they are pointing to. Bathrooms are t super clean but we did watch them wipe down the tables with antibacterial solution between guests. Tables are spaced out accordingly and staff is wearing masks. Normally, I wouldn't be concerned but after being at other places, there is some improvement that could be done. Still we will be back. Really happy with this place.

They charge a processing fee, ridiculous!!!
    John C.

Not much too say. Wings had a strong chicken smell as if they were boiled. Staff was great. Evidently they charge a "processing" fee which I presume is for cards. Unreal, I've never seen this at a bar and grill. Very seldom I'll see it at a take out place w a minimum order. Check your receipts.

    Cheese curds

A decent place to game before a game at Wrigley. I came before the Red Stars' first game and the place was packed. Staff seemed to be handling the crowds well. A good beer selections and the cheese curds were pretty good and came out quickly given how crowed the bar was.

    Bernie's!

Beer was great and Bethany, my server, was wonderful. I felt welcome as a single diner, which isn't always the case at some restaurants. My second visit was a little less wonderful. I sat inside, had a different server on a busy night and felt unappreciated, to be honest. The pace was frenetic with servers and bussers rushing around throughout the restaurant. My server was OK, but I don't think she cared one way or another about my experience as a patron and it showed. Servers really can make a big difference in dining experiences. I know that it's not an easy job, but something to think about for any servers reading reviews. FYI - the reserved signs on the outdoor tables simply mean that you need to see the hostess. The tables are not actually reserved. They really should use different wording because I almost kept walking, thinking that all the outside tables were taken.

What a cute little brewery! They have a handful of beers, with a good variety (i.e. 75% are *not*…read moreIPAs). Plus, I think it's fantastic that their menu describes the flavor notes! The prices are extremely reasonable, with most 10oz pours costing ~$5-6. The flight of the 'core' (shall we say) six is $20... not bad at all if you ask me. I ordered 10oz of the Liquid Baguette, as the menu described, Earthy, Crisp, and Refreshing. While not my favorite beer on the planet, it was very respectable for a craft brew. DryHop also has a proper food menu, with mostly American classics with some a little more out there options, like the Kangaroo Steak Frites or the Hunter Stew (I don't recall what kind of meat, but not exactly something readily available at Jewel's. The cup was a large enough portion, even made me wonder if I was given a bowl by mistake. The broth was rich and savory, with an ample amount of protein. While a little more meat and smaller pieces of potatoes would have been welcome, this is more personal preference than a critique. Something which was less than fantastic was the service. I felt it was inattentive and a little slow, especially given the brewery was only moderately busy at the time. Maybe I am becoming an impatient, old curmudgeon, or maybe there's some truth to my observation, you be the judge. Final verdict: I think DryHop would classify as a micro-brewery. In that regard, they have a solid selection and good variety. To have something for the beer to wash down there's a solid food menu. While beers and grub are of a high standard, the service leaves something to be desired.

Every time I visit, the decor never ceases to impress. It's classy but unpretentious and you can tell folks are there to have a good time. We arrived at about 8:30pm on a Saturday and it was packed. Luckily, we were able to snag seats at a bar before a table opened up around 9pm. A note that they don't take reservations (but I kind of wish they did!), so this isn't the place to go if you're in a rush. They had a special seasonal menu going for the holiday, and we started with the reuben hush puppies. While they were more like croquettes, they were extra crispy, cheesy, and juicy with the most delicious thousand island dressing. I wish they would offer this year round! For mains, we ordered the corned beef and buddha bowl. I really liked the horseradish aioli that came with the beef- while the meat could've been more tender, it had a great flavor overall. The cabbage actually tasted pickled and the carrots sweet; non-traditional, but tasty! The buddha bowl had a very wide range of veggies and perfectly cooked rice. I could drink that spicy peanut sauce. I appreciated how large the portions were, which definitely softened the price as we left with plenty of leftovers. All in all, we had a great experience- if you haven't checked Wilde out, I highly recommend doing so!

When I pointed this out, the cook simply peeled back the tiny sandwich and added some sad looking cold tomato slices. Ridiculous. I explained to the server (again, not her fault) that the flavor comes from the tomato being grilled WITH the sandwich. Never going back to this place.
