Pretty much a rip off. I took my Truckto get front end alignment. The mechanic told me i had to get the control arm bearings and charged me 25.00 just to tell me he couldn't until those are replaced. Had my uncle replace the control arm bearing and went back for another another appointment just for the mechanic to tell me i have to replace my tire rods and charged me another 25.00. My question is how come you didn't tell me on the first visit? So pretty much i paid 50.00 just for them to look at the truck. I will never go to this establishment again. Piss poor workman ship dont let them mount and balance your wheels. Scared all 4 of mine and the owner would not accept that they did it. The owner does not know what goes on in his own shop. They told me 50 dollars to mount and balance each tire and when they were done it was $280 with all 4 wheels scared up. The next day my tire was flat found out they broke a valve stem during installation. Not just one but 2 valve stems broken. They never took the old weights off of my wheels just stuck on new weights over top of old ones. They might have been good once upon a time but not now. Owner has no clue . read more

Bert's Alignment was recommended to me by a friend for front end repairs. My 2007 Lincoln MKZ was making a terrible squeaking, grinding noise on the right front side. Bert's technician drove the car and checked for the cause of the noise. He said my car needed new struts as the old ones were causing the noise. When I said the noise didn't seem to be coming from the struts, he let me know "he has been doing front end work for a long time and it's definitely the struts". 3 hours and $704 later he kind of apologized because the car was still making the noise. The owner got involved and said the noise was coming from 1 of the 3 ball joints on the right side, but he couldn't tell which one. He squirted grease into the boots covering the sealed ball joints, which had no affect on the noise. When I questioned the replacement of the struts, he said the manufacturer recommended they be replaced in another 20,000 miles and I wouldn't have to worry about replacing them later. He offered no apology or price adjustment for the unnecessary work, and his technician even asked me to "let him know if I ever found out what was causing the noise". I felt like the "front end" technician didn't know that much about front end problems and that I paid $704 for his lack of knowledge. I took the car to a regular repair center and they found the top ball joint was bad and said it was a common front end problem they had seen before on 2007 MKZs. I had them replace all 3 right side ball joints and align the front end for a cost of $795. $1,499 later, I find it ironic that a front end alignment and repair shop couldn't find and fix a known problem with Lincoln MKZ cars. They mistakenly replaced unnecessary and expensive parts hoping that would take care of the problem, while a regular everyday repair center was able to correctly diagnose and fix the problem properly. After my experience with Bert's, my friend apologized to me and I refer people to Great Bridge Mobil Service Center, in Chesapeake. read more

I called to see availability after calling the local VW dealer to try to get my Golf R aligned. The service receptionist for VW referred me to Bert's and honestly I'm glad she did. I did not get a same day appt but I got one set up for a couple days later. First impression: nice older style set up inside the building. Greeted promptly by the receptionist as I arrived 15 mins early. They began work a few mins later. Rear alignment required minor adjustment, took nearly no time at all to accomplish. Then the front alignment the mechanic noticed some subframe damage and showed me immediately. The supervisor looked at it and assured me it wasn't an issue after doing some tests to verify. Glad I was not only informed but shown what kind of damage I have on the underside of my car. They do not use computer based alignment systems and for what it's worth, the old school projector style alignments they do there will make it difficult for me to even consider going elsewhere. I highly recommend this place for any car lover/enthusiast who may have a low ride as their lifts are in ground. 5* isn't enough for the service and honestly that the staff at Bert's provides to their customers! read more

I'm fairly new to the area and Bert's was recommended by a few locals. I have a 2001 Ford diesel excursion that simply didn't feel right in the steering. Stopped by Bert's at 3:50pm on a Friday to simply discuss possible cause and schedule it for next week. Talked with Hunter who said he could drive it as soon as he got his current truck finished if I had time to wait. 15-20 minutes and off he went with it. Pulled back into the parking lot and wanted it on the rack to look it over. As he was pulling it in, an adjusting sleeve broke while I was standing there watching. A one in a million fluke thing to happen at that moment but thankfully it was there and not on the interstate. It's now 30 minutes before closing and they're on the phone chasing parts. Hunter and Bert stayed until 7:10 getting my truck back together and aligned. Didn't charge me any more than if it were scheduled work. I can't recommend these guys enough. Hunter was thorough and efficient. Bert was constant entertainment with his eclectic knowledge. Now when I tell someone I have "a guy" for alignment... it's Bert's Alignment! read more

After 3 alignment shops they all couldn't get my truck aligned right. The manufacturer that I bought my leveling kit from sent me their specs and none of these places I went to could get it right. Went back to one place because they set my truck with a suspension lean, 4 inches higher on the driver side. Went back and put it back to stock. Still wasn't right. Last ditch I went back to the dealership and they put it back to their factory spec. Truck still pulled to the left. So now being in Hampton Roads, I called around and no one would do anything other than factory spec. Even 2 off road business in this area. But here's the thing they all said call Bert's Alignment in VA Beach. Well if 6 places recommend this place then it's got to be good. Showed up early in the morning, met Bert, great guy! Even explained why he's the best around. One of his techs came out and we talked. Explained that I want the manufacturer's specs. Said no issues with that. 90 mins later he was done. Truck drives like it should. Tracks straight, no more side to side roll going over the bridges. Excellent work from these guys. I will definitely be a repeat customer here soon with wife's Durango. This is the place to go if you want knowledgeable experts to get your alignment right. Unfortunately I went to two other places prior to BERT's that swore it was the best the alignment could be. After Nick at BERT's had my truck and worked his magic I'll never go anywhere else. He knows what he's talking about and takes a logical approach to finding and resolving the issues. Bert's Alignment shop is the most honest shop in town. My truck failed inspection at another local shop. The inspector indicated I needed new ball joints, $500+ job. I took my truck to Bert's to get a second opinion. Bert's advised me to remove my failed inspection sticker and get it inspected somewhere else. I did that and it passed - Ball joints not needed. Bert's has done alignment work on my others vehicle. They do great work and are honest. I always use specialty shops when alignment is needed. read more

My buddy bought in my car for me to get four tires swapped and a four wheel alignment on my 2015 mustang gt with a total cost of $315. All four of my wheels were scratched deeply at some point during the process. Each of the wheels were scratched in an identical manner. I noticed it and brought the car back in the evening at Bert's request. He looked at it and said that he would take care of me and to bring it in the following day, which I did. When I got there he said that there is no way his tire machine made those marks and so it could not have happened at his shop. He basically then indicated that I should shove off because the wheels were not his problem and he didn't have anymore time to spend talking to me about it. Now I have four wheels that need to be repaired after what should have been a simple job... Very frustrating experience and I would never take any of my cars back to them ever again. read more

The technician communicated his assessment, did exactly what he said he was going to do, and I was charged only for what he did. The price they charged was way less than I expected. These folks did an alignment on my daughters car about 3 months ago and the car has had very odd handling since the work was done. Took the car to Tread Quarters for 4 tires and they discovered that the nut on the ball joint was never tightened. WOW!! Very fortunate that the front end was not damaged or that it did not cause an accident. I will not go back and would not recommend them after such careless work. read more
