Very Disappointing !!! When I realized that there was a Bertucci's in Newark, DE I was beyond excited. I ate there weekly when it was nearby my hometown, Westbury, NY. I ordered takeout of my favorite meal - Rigatoni Abruzzi. When I got home to eat my meal all I saw was rigatoni and sausage. The sauce didn't cover all the pasta, therefore it was dry, and there were literally 2 small pieces of bell pepper in the whole dish. I had to add my own spaghetti sauce and peppers to make it edible. And to top it off, the butter for the rolls didn't look fresh; they looked like were melted and refrigerated. There must not be any quality control in their kitchen. They should be ashamed of serving a poorly put together dish. read more

There are a lot of favorites of ours we've been craving and since the NJ Bertucci's closed down, we made the trek all the way here (on our way south during a roadtrip)! The farmhouse salad, tuscan chicken wings, chicken piccata, and freshly baked rolls are not to be missed! My dad wasn't a fan of the lentil soup and the salmon florentine was just okay. Potatoes weren't very impressive. Service was a little rough as we had to ask for several items multiple times and had difficulty flagging down our waitress, BUT she was extremely accommodating and even took off the soup from the bill since it was basically untouched. She brought us extra bread and oil and originally helped us to make the soup as cost effective as possible by making it an add-on to a meal instead of its own item. Good food! The rolls they give you at the start are reset delicious and all their food is pretty good! I would say this place is nothing special but is a good pick for some unique pizza, or an outing out with the fam. The service was average and the ambience was good for a family night out! read more

Well....unfortunately this Bertucci's is now run like all the other Bertucci's that have closed. I'm pretty sure the Manager that was there 3 years ago when I gave it a 5 star review must no longer be there. They've cut back on help so the bartender has to cover half the restaurant too. He never writes things down so the orders get messed up all the time..... missing salad orders, wrong toppings, slow service, and just not top notch like this location used to be. It appears to me that Bertucci's is now in a downward spiral, attempting to stay profitable by cutting labor. The food is still good, when they get the orders right. It's just not worth the aggravation of having to redo orders, chase down missing food, and waiting for 1 bartender to service half the restaurant. Looking for a quick dinner option and decided a pizza and a salad would suffice. The chopped salad was huge. I added chicken to my salad and the dressing was really good. I tried the sausage and broccoli rabe artisan pizza. The pizza looked like it would be packed with flavor. However I was a bit disappointed. The pizza lacked seasoning. The new celebrity chef has seriously screwed up two of my favorite menu items. I loved the old wings. I ordered it every single time. They're very different now. I wouldn't say I dislike the new wings, but I have zero inclination to order them again. The new chicken piccata is very disappointing. Bring back the breaded cutlet. Two years ago the ownership of this chain changed hands, it was both by another Italian chain. All of the sources of raw materials used in the pre pert ion of the food changed to the new chains suppliers. This resulted in the taste of the food at Bertucci's changing. If you liked the old taste, the new taste is very different, you may not like it , we don't. And although we have hundreds of dollars of gift cards, we have problems using them. read more

All the dishes were really yummy. We love the fresh bread. My husband ordered the lasagna. He finished half of it for the meal and we took the other half home for another meal. Side of meatballs satisfied my meat cravings. I ordered unlimited soup and salad. It was fresh and delicious. Our service staff Brie was super nice and provided exceptional service. My husband and I were there last night. The food my husband had was good he said. The food I had, not so much. The rolls were delicious and Rayna was doing double duty. serving and also bartending. I think that's why she forgot to tell us her name. I returned my meal and asked for a cup of soup instead. I told I didn't like it and I expected atleast something off, but that didn't happen. First off let me say, the food was good, the pizza and garlic knots, but the problem was the staff. A woman in the prep area who seemed to be a manager of some type because she was dressed business like, was scrolling on her phone in the prep area with gloves on, disgusting!. Then she put her phone down and preceded to stay in the prep area doing whatever she was doing with the food. A guy on the pizza making line was using his cell phone as well with no gloves and the paddle or whatever it is called to handle the pizza with the oven, he smacked the side of it on the trash can to get whatever was stuck on it off and continued to use it. He didn't take it to the kitchen to be washed. This place needs to be inspected by the health department and stop doing nasty stuff in the kitchen that can get people sick. read more

I've always liked the food at Bertucci's but for what ever reason this particular Bertucci's wasn't as good. Both from the customer service standpoint and the flavors of our meal. We called the restaurant asking to see if they do reservations or call ahead. They said at that moment and time there were no wait time and that call ahead is not necessary. Five mins later when we got to the restaurant they asked if we had called ahead. I explained to the hostess that when I called someone told me call ahead wasn't necessary and just to come in. The hostess proceeded to tell me it'll be a 30-45 min wait and gave me a pager. The restaurant wasn't busy at all so I knew it wasn't going to take 30-45 mins. So we waited in the car and about 10 mins later they paged us letting us know that our table was ready. What's the point of telling us that it was a 30-45 min wait. Especially, to a customer that you've already misinformed. We ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and it was very bland in flavor. You're expecting this wonderful rich and creamy Alfredo when you take your first bite but instead you get blah. We also ordered the Chicken Parmesan and they were very skimpy on their sauce. The actual Chicken Parmesan was tasty, if I'm being honest. I just don't understand their technique when it comes to customer service. And why would other Bertucci's taste phenomenal and this one was just mediocre. read more

I was very disappointed in the service abd food this evening, the bread was very cold, I asked the gentleman for some hot bread, he stated that the bread was just seating on the rack, I can heat it up for you, I informed him do not borrow yourself, my waiter came over and informed me that the bread machine was down, they had to come and tell me something, but the table behind me had hot bread, I was disappointed also with my waiter, she never came to me and asked if I needed anything or how was my food, I was going to celebrate my goddaughter book signing here, I will be going some place else. read more

Food was good, but the service wasn't the best. Three of us went for dinner on a Friday night. We arrived right before the crowds; there was a wait when we were leaving. We each ordered a Caesar side salad to start. The salads arrived only moments before the main dishes. This became a bit of a problem with space on the table as one of us had ordered a large pepperoni pizza. Which arrived as a large cheese pizza instead. My dining companion decided to just go ahead and eat the cheese pizza, but we just wanted to be sure that we weren't charged for the pepperoni topping. This caused a lot of confusion with the server. The others ordered Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Piccata, which were tasty. Refills on drinks were slow to come by, and I never received sweetener for my iced tea despite asking. So we came here on a whim since we were in the area and was pretty hungry and I have to say- I wasn't really impressed. The layout of the place was "ok" although it was very spacious (in my opinion it looked a little "dated"). Upon walking in, we waited for a few minutes because there wasn't a hostess at the door- but we were later informed they were short staffed- so I didn't hold that against them initially. Once we sat down, we were greeted by "Tommy" (I believe that was his name) who was amazing btw- he did a pretty good job as our waiter. Where the disappointment came in? It seems like we waited for at least 20-30 minutes to get our food after we ordered which in the beginning we were told they were short staffed- except everyone around us that walked in "After" us received there's. Additionally, I ordered "Spinach and artichoke dip" as our appetizer- which never came. Although my bf liked his pizza, I wasn't really too crazy about mines. We are from out of town and wanted Italian for dinner. We had a party of 10 and our waiter, Cande, was patient with us but the service was slow. There wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant and still spent 2.5 hours there. The food portions were really big but the food wasn't great. Their rolls and oils are out of this world! They have a gluten sensitive pizza crust that is our families go to. We order from them probably about twice a month. I won't after tonight. EVERY single time we are told it will be ready at a certain time and it's always about 30 minutes after that time. Came for lunch. They do offer express lunch specials (food must be at your table in less than 15 minutes or it's free). I came in on Friday around 3pm and it didn't take long at all for my food to come. Salad comes with your meal (the Italian salad was amazing ) and bread (it's good bread too!). I ordered a small pizza with half cheese and half pep. Definitely reminds me of New York styled pizza. It was very greasy and thin but good. My waiter was excellent. The bruschetta here is easily the best that I and my boyfriend have ever had. The rest of the food is pretty solid - I usually order the rigatoni, chicken, and broccoli dish, and it just needs a little salt and pepper to be really tasty. I also really enjoy the insalata and sausage soup. The last time I was here was maybe two weeks ago, and most of the restaurant was closed off. That left customers waiting for their orders in a shared space that wasn't very big. Although people were distancing themselves from each other, I can see how it would be uncomfortable during a really busy time, so maybe avoid the dinner rush. read more
