A small unassuming brick building in the middle of Berwick does not disappoint. Most people go here for the beer, however, sadly I only go for the Pizza. Berwick Brewing Company is a wonderful place. It is a landmark on the Susquehanna river. The beer garden (bier garden) is an outdoor paradise where you can eat great food and relax while watching the river flow. Tom the owner is a great guy. His German heritage as well as the time he has spent in Germany comes through in this Brewery's ambiance. The old world craftsmanship is brought to small town Berwick and Berwick has benefited greatly from having this Brewery/restaurant in their town. The Brewmaster Steve, under Tom's tutelage, has mastered the art of German brewing. Steve has traveled with Tom to Germany to both sample and learn his craft. The results show, beer lovers absolutely love this place. Personally I'm a food lover and this establishment doesn't disappoint. The pizza is delicious and the toppings are unique. Cheese curds and jaeger sausage, really? This ain't no Papa Johns kids! The pretzels, calzones, fries, fried curds, and weekly specials are all top of the line. Some weekly specials include German style schnitzels and bratwurst w/ kraut. My mouth is watering while I'm typing, sorry. I must excuse myself and go get another slice. We will see you here. Nice place with a very good beer selection. We weren't impressed with the pizza at all. I guess I'm spoiled by NY pizza. They have one TV that was showing an old movie. I asked the bartender if she could change the channel, so I could watch the Yankee game. She politely said no because the owner only wants the TV on that old movie station. If the owner would put more TV's in this place for sports, this place would be a platinum mine. This was a one time visit for me. I see no reason to really go back. After beer and pizza, sports is what's next in line for most men. Hope the clueless owner wakes up and realizes that before football season starts in a couple of weeks. read more

I love, love, LOVE the Berwick Brewing Company! First and foremost, the beer is great, with a wide variety of styles offered. Second, the food is as good as you will find in NEPA--although the menu is limited to pizzas, bratwursts, and pretzels...really, that's it. This place started out very small, and has only expanded as they've mastered individual menu offerings. Their pizza is unique, distinctive, and delicious--super thin crusts, flavorful sauces, creative and unique toppings. If you are a spicy food fan, the Steve-O Inferno pizza is a must...jalapenos, gooey cheese, and habanero pepper sauce. Not red sauce. Habanero pepper sauce. My family and I can do hot, but at your request, they can make this pizza so hot that the back of your head will start to sweat, and you'll be tempted to run home to down something...anything...that will cool your throat. Better yet, stay at the brewery, and drink a cold beer. It is some of the best around...and we know our beer. In the summer, there is a wonderful bier garden out back with a view of the Susquehanna River below. (I don't know why Berwick doesn't do more with this pretty natural resource.) There is almost always live music playing, and the BBC has managed to inspire a loyal band of patrons who really seem determined to make this place thrive. As a result, it has a very folksy, homey, friendly feel that makes you want to stay around, take your shoes off, and hang with the locals. Do not miss this spot. read more

Been wanting to try Guy's beers for a long time and never had the opportunity to stop by. Well Guy is gone and the average at best beer does not make it worth ones while (in my opinion) to make a special trip to this establishment. This is an old warehouse with very little construction done. The bar is a joke and uncomfortable to sit at. The seating area next to the bar has crappy medal picnic tables and some kind of a kitchen window where you pickup your food (if ordered). The pizza is one of my top ten. The pick up process is awful you go in and have no idea where to go to get your order. Finally I made my way through the crowd to the bar where you have to get one of the few people working there's attention to get your order and pay. If you like a bar atmosphere its perfect. Yep. It's legit. In town visiting. People kept hyping this place so I was beginning to really prepare for disappointment but it totally lived up to its reputation. I admit being a fussy bastard when it comes to beer. My ideal beer is hopped up to the stratosphere and untainted with strong malt flavors or pungent yeast varieties. I could probably eat raw hops for breakfast. So I went right after the pales and IPAs, despite frequent pleas from my nearby friendly companions who appeared disappointed by my insistence on passing up their favorite brews. What they must not have realized is that I was already in hop heaven and I wasn't about to spoil it. Great beer, even for hop heads. Can't wait to go back. read more

A little hard to find behind other buildings and a very unpretentious tap room but once you get beyond this you are in for a very special treat. Service was very prompt and courteous. Beers were excellent. I had the Berwick IPA, Dry Hop IPA, and the Cream Ale. All were top notch. Then comes the food. Had the fried cheese curds as an appy. They were as good as any found in Wisconsin. Had the curd and jaeger pizza. It was over the top. Well worth the almost two hour trip to visit them. A must place to stop when in the area. Beer is good, but service sucks!!!! Bartenders are great, but unpleasant probably due to the lack of help. You can see the frustration in their face and the way they present themselves. How freaking long does it take to make a pizza?? That's all they have on the menu!! And if that's the owner jamming out, although he may be decent he needs to help his employees! Really great beer garden out back with a beautiful view. It was raining today but the outdoor space is covered so it was still comfortable and enjoyable to be outside. Good selection of beers here and nice simple setup. But for the love...please buy a pizza - they are amazing! Had the meat feast type and it was beautifully crisp to the point that the slice didnt sag without the pizza being burnt at all. This seriously could be my favourite pizza in the US! If you've been to a beer fest in Germany, that's the ambience. Sitting on the same bench with a guy who can't sit still...shook his leg constantly! Pizza was good but burnt in spots. Friday night, stood in line for a beer - 8 minutes. When we go out to dinner, we prefer service. A fantastic experience. I have been twice now - once for some beer and pizza, and most recently for their Oktoberfest celebration. The beers are excellent - top notch, and reasonably priced for a small brewery. The pizza is delicious - cooked right, and the spicy ones are truly spicy. The Oktoberfest was a delight - tons of beer, and plates and plates of deep fried cheese curds (just like in Wisconsin/Minnesota - lightly battered, cooked to order, and served hot). This place has seriously gone downhill. We ordered 4 pizzas Two of the pizzas were vegetarian into the pizzas were meat. When we receive the pizzas we had no idea which pizza was which as we were not told and after much deliberation we decided that three of the pizzas were incorrect. I went back up to the bar to correct the order and after 10 more minutes of waiting the bartender told me that she would bring out a mushroom pizza. (Instead of the pizza that we never ordered). Then about 15 minutes later no pizzas were delivered however it waiter came out and said very rudely the pizza you ordered you have not eaten in the pizza you can order you have already eaten half of. He then proceeded to grab the pizza that we had ordered but have not eaten yet because we were confused about which pizza was which and he took it away. He came back 20 minutes later with a vegetarian pizza instead of the mushroom pizza which was supposed to be the correct order and when one of our group members said that's not the pizza we ordered he said that's what you wanted and stormed back to the kitchen never to return. We were able to get 2 pizzas taken off our order, however, for the waiter's behavior I believe we will never return. They were hasty, rude, and blamed us for their mistakes. read more

Visited on a Friday night on our way through town and stayed across the street. Plenty of parking, Oktoberfest-style beer garden outside, and lots of seating with bar service inside. Twenty five beers on tap, all brewed on site and ranging from pilsners to saisons, stouts, and a tripel. The brewmaster was playing live music and the owner went out of his way to walk us through the beer list and make us feel welcome in what's clearly a hot spot for locals. I suggest trying the pizzas (with cheese curds!), especially if you're staying a while to sample the outstanding and affordable beer selection. I would have stayed longer but my ass was hurting from their cheap picnic tables.
