Casa de Catrina in Carle Place is a must try, conveniently located right across from the mall, perfect for lunch or dinner after a shopping trip. We sampled so many dishes and everything was outstanding. The fried whole red snapper served over pineapple with chamoy and tajín was a standout, along with the char-grilled New York strip steak and the grilled octopus special served on a fiery skillet with chimichurri. The chicken flautas, fried calamari, and street corn were all delicious too. The cocktails deserve a shoutout as well, served in beautiful, unique glasses, but they taste just as good as they look. The Vive La Vida (vodka, watermelon, dragon fruit, peach purée, prosecco) was a favorite. Great atmosphere, great service, and so many menu options to choose from. We'll definitely be back to try their brunch soon. Highly recommend!

We had such a great experience at Casa de Catrina. We tried a little bit of everything, including the Empress Martini, Fuego en la Boca, and San Luis Potosi, along with the Queso Fundido, Pulpo a la Grill, combo fajitas, Camarones a la Diabla, and Tropical Salmon. Everything gave us a great introduction to the menu, and there was so much variety between the appetizers, entrees, and cocktails. Definitely a spot worth checking out if you're looking for Mexican food and cocktails on Long Island.

The food was good but overpriced for what you get. I recommend getting the fried tamales, those were delicious. The elote was ok. Very heavy on that true mayo flavor. Needs some spice and lime on the side. The tacos were not worth the price honestly. The lamb dish though was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The churros came with ice cream and lightly dusted with cinnamon sugar. The soft drinks are served via can for $4 a piece. The cocktails are more value for your buck, but even those are quite pricey in comparison to similar restaurants in the area. The ambiance becomes more of a nightclub vibes as the night progresses. So if you're looking for a calmer vibe, come early for dinner.

Casa de Catrina is a colorful and festive eatery with nice Latin music. We visited for lunch, the restaurant is roomy with free parking. The menu could be categorized as Mexican, our dishes were delish. They serve a great Margarita as expected, and the Street Corn was the best I had had so far. For dessert we shared the Churros stuffed with caramel and great coffee. Our server was excellent. Give Casa de Catrina a try.

The food was delicious however for a Mexican restaurant they are very limited w vegan options. (They do have plenty of side orders to pick from) The drinks were spot on I appreciate they give you options for the alcohol type you want . Their margarita flight 10/10 MUST HAVE! Super cute a bit small but cozy restaurant! Decor was spot on (plenty of picture moment backdrops)

Great experience at Casa De Catrina! Everything is over the top and delicious! Ice cream for brunch!? Sign me up ! Food was quick to come out and was delicious. I love chorizo and those churros were insane. Definitely would go back.

Came for dinner with my boyfriend. The service was excellent and the food delicious. The music was lively and a vibe. Would definitely come back. Also, idk why they give iPads instead of menus, you can't order or pay on them. Major waste of money if you ask me. Would definitely come back again.

    Auto gratuity?

We decided to try this spot for dinner and honestly left a bit disappointed. I ordered the skirt steak tacos, which came with three tacos, no sides, and a tiny sauce for $28. My husband got the beef birria tacos -- also three tacos, no sides -- for the same price. Both were just okay, not much flavor for the price point. For drinks, we kept it simple with two canned sodas. Service itself was fine; the staff checked in on us a few times, which I appreciated. But when the bill came, we noticed they had added an automatic gratuity. What's strange is that after looking at other Yelp reviews, some people have posted their receipts without the auto-gratuity, so it feels a little inconsistent. On top of that, there's an additional charge if you pay with a card. Between the high prices, lack of flavor, and questionable billing practices, it just didn't feel worth it. Unfortunately, we probably won't be returning.

As is my tradition when working out of town, I look for a Mexican place nearby. Unfortunately, I didn't scrutinize the Yelp reviews very closely. While some are decent, my visit leaned towards the negative. Chips and salsa were lacking. Two tiny cups are served with the chips. One red. One green. The red was fair. I didn't care for the green. It took an extended period for the server to bring out my unsweetened ice tea. I also waited much longer than I should have for a refill. The presentation of the chicken fajitas was probably the highlight of the meal. However, I can't eat presentation. The grilled veggies were decent, but the chicken lacked flavor as did the rice. I asked for salt and pepper shakers as there are none on any table. I was never brought the salt and pepper. The rice desperately needed it! On top of all this negativity, $30 for the fajitas is just overpriced. I definitely won't be back.

The menu says $20 for fried calamari and they charged $23 on the bill without informing us!

Place is overpriced for the quality of food and service. Beef nachos were terrible and poorly done, a few big blocks of ground beef, and in a bowl which was weird, it's not nacho soup. The calamari was good but basic and the menu says it's $20 but they charged $23 on the bill! Scammers! FALSE ADVERTISING. The tacos were three for $28, no sides, not amazing for that price. Service was slow, they didn't even have the reservation in the computer despite me showing them the email confirmation. Then they have the nerve to tell me I have a 1.5 time limit at the table. By the time we got our food, we were about 30 minutes into the 1.5 time limit so basically I chalked this meal up as a fast food Mexican experience with some really nice murals on the wall and good decor. Wouldn't recommend and will not be returning.

Visited here with a few coworkers for lunch. We sat at the bar and were greeted right away. The chips and salsa are warm and fresh. We all did an assortment of tacos which were delicious! Spicy margaritas were on point as well. We will definitely be back!

Enjoyed everything about this restaurant. From the beautiful artwork on the walls to the tableside guacamole. The service was friendly and polite, not too obtrusive. The food was very good. Skirt steak was a 4, Birria tacos a solid 3.5 and the Guacamole a 4.5. Love that it's made tableside. Cocktails were on point as well. Maybe a little pricey, but the environment doesn't come free. Also, great place for a birthday. They come out and sing and put a big ole sombrero on you. Very fun.

Had a great time here. The Happy Hour was a great deal in margs and then we followed up with the flight. After trying 6 flavors now I can say none of the margaritas disappointed. My spicy marg was the perfect amount of spice and the flavored ones were spot on, like drinking the fruit, my favorite being the tamarind. As for the good, the street corn was different, but would 100% eat again. More in the sweeter side but addicting for sure. The birria tacos were also a fan favorite, especially the cheese inside. Shrimp tacos did not disappoint as well. Would definitely come back!

The restaurant has a beautiful, bright, modern atmosphere that feels much more upscale than its surroundings. Based on other reviews, the standout dishes seemed to be the grilled Spanish octopus and the SB Smash Burger, so I ordered both. Unfortunately, the execution fell short in several areas. The East Coast oysters arrived with mignonette but without horseradish or oyster forks--small details, but noticeable oversights. The oysters, octopus, and burger were all tasty, but the presentation of octopus and burger was surprisingly sloppy, as though little attention had been paid when the dishes left the kitchen. The bar also was understaffed. A single bartender was serving both the bar and the entire dining room, which led to waits for drinks. My bartender was friendly, attentive, and worked hard, but one person simply wasn't enough. I finished with the Key Lime Custard, which had what appeared to be a layer of shredded cereal on the bottom. I wasn't sure what it was. The dessert itself was enjoyable, though I think a base of toasted sliced almonds with a few fried blueberries on top of it would have added better texture and complemented the flavors more effectively. One nice perk is the validated valet parking, for a reduced fee, which makes arriving and leaving especially convenient given the mall location. The whiskey selection could also be improved by adding a few more interesting, off-the-beaten-path single malts or blends. Overall, the kitchen shows promise! And perhaps I came on an off night. With better attention to presentation, appropriate bar staffing, and a more adventurous choice of spirits, Small Batch could deliver an experience that better matches its reputation.

Normally, I don't start a review on a negative but after we left and counting up all the missteps, I felt off. My wife is more forgiving, she liked the Frito Misto and Bolognese. It's hard to believe this was a BBQ spot a few years ago. The glass garage door is still in place, back in the day it was enjoyable during the spring. There's a reason why it's called Sparrow Cocktails. I ordered the Smoked Old Fashioned. Made with Angel's Envy Bourbon and wood smoked chips, this was a great cocktail before dinner. The Frito Misto had a delicate coating, it wasn't overly battered. The green dipping sauce served on the side was bland. It didn't add to the dish and was thin. The Malfalde Bolognese was a hearty portion, we were able to share this large dish between the two of us. Made with beef, veal and pork and simmered in San Marzono tomatoes, this entree satisfies all my pasta cravings. I was looking for some grated cheese, none was offered.. The Back Sea Bass special, IMHO we should have passed. My wife asked about bones and was told they de-bone the fish table side. What was served to us was a fish that was cooked well but was full of small pin bones. We passed on dessert, it was time to go. an expensive meal that doesn't warrant a return visit.

Overall, we found many of the dishes to be overly salty and oily. I ordered the rib sandwich and was disappointed because it wasn't what I expected. I anticipated an actual rib sandwich, but it appeared to be more like shredded beef and didn't have the flavor or texture of ribs. My son ordered the stuff Nutella French Toast and ended up sending them back. The eggs he was served were also quite salty. My daughter did not enjoy her burger, which was unusually thick and difficult to eat as prepared. My wife finished her meal, but she did not find it particularly enjoyable and felt the portion size was too small for the price. I think part of the issue may have been the limited Father's Day brunch menu. Had there been more options available, we might have found dishes that better suited our tastes. Additionally, dessert was not included in the package, which was somewhat disappointing. While the atmosphere and service were definite positives, the food did not meet our expectations. Based on this experience, I'm not sure if I would return.

Definitely one of those "I should stop eating this so I have room for dinner" situations . We also shared the Fritto Misto with calamari, pesce, artichoke, hot peppers, lemon, and fra diavolo. I even found some nice chunks of fried salmon mixed in. Everything was lightly fried rather than heavily battered or greasy, but still packed with flavor. The fra diavolo on the side complemented it perfectly. For our entrées, we both ordered the $58 Spaghetti with Maine lobster, pecorino, fra diavolo, and basil. SO GOOD! The pasta was cooked perfectly, the sauce had a nice little kick, and there was a generous amount of lobster throughout. I would absolutely order it again. I had the Espresso Martini, which was delicious, and my partner had the lemonade. His only critique was that it was a little tart, but I actually appreciated that.
