Best powder nails in Queens by Selina!!

Everyone is so nice there. Selina always does an amazing job - best powder nails in Queens. So happy that found this place.

My nexgen nails done by the rushing nail tech
    Patricia W.

It took a long time coming, but I found my nail salon! After a bad experience with my former nail tech (check my Yelp reviews) in which I felt like my money/business was not appreciated, coming here was a complete 360! My nails were a mess, and I didn't have the time or energy to commute to Manhattan to find a specialized salon. I'd been to Bess twice before and had always liked the service, so I scheduled a super last minute appointment -- the person on the phone was super friendly and told me to come on over. I was running about ten minutes late -- Charlene (the owner) looked at me in awe and said, "it's been a while!" The last time I had been was early in the summer (this meetup was right before Christmas) so I was awed that she remembered me. I sat down for a few minutes when her assistant asked me what I wanted. I told her either bio gel or nexgen powder -- she replied that she recommended Nexgen since if I wanted Bio Gel I would have to wait over an hour. I was in no rush so I thought I that was super considerate. What happened next could have been a disaster at another salon -- but Charlene handled it with class: I was seated with another nail tech, but I could sense she was in a rush. She started drilling/filing my nails before I had even chosen my colors. She was going so fast that I felt that I was seeing my nails done on fast forward. The nail tech was also holding my finger with a lot of pressure that she actually slightly bruised me. I realized that there was a gentleman waiting for his pedicure (he had come with his girlfriend and she was already having her pedi) and that's why she was rushing. She actually finished buffing my nails and ran off to prepare the gentleman's pedicure. I wouldn't have minded waiting -- I knew I has asked for a last minute accomdation. Charlene came to finish putting the finishing touches on my manicure (the girl hadn't even put top coat or put lotion -- she just buffed and ran off) and I told her that I could tell the other tech was rushing. Charlene PERSONALLY APOLOGIZED and said she felt terrible that I had felt unconfortable. She explained that another appointment had come in late and therefore there was a time crunch among the techs. I was so touched by the response. I wasn't upset with the nail tech -- I just felt that she was going too fast/was in a rush to accomdate everyone, and I felt guilty as a client. Charlene was super kind about it and one can tell that she values ALL her clients. As I was finishing up, a longtime client asked if she could take an Essie polish on her vacation and return it next week. Charlene was A-OK with it. I also had realized I had forgotten to bring cash for tip (I was waiting to get a massage -- wanted to indulge and I was happy with Charlene's services) and Charlene said I could head over to the bank -- I asked if I should leave something for security -- she said I could take my bag and phone -- I would never walk out without paying of course, but the fact that she had faith and loyality in me as a customer meant a lot. I don't expect to be fawned over in a business -- I just want to feel like my business/money is valued. I feel like that here. See you soon, Charlene! Best salon in the neighborhood!

I hate my nails and I would go somewhere else to get them redone but it gel and I don't want to ruin my nails.

When I first started getting my nails done here, the girls would do a great job. Lately, it's been really bad. They rush through your nails like they have somewhere to be. I get it! It does get busy here but don't overbook if you're going to rush through the job. I went in today for a Gel Manicure. The lady doing my nails (seemed almost like a robot). It kind of saddened my cause she rushed so much that my nails came out horrible. ($25 down the drain) some of my nails you can still see my actual nail. (experience from other times I've visited this location and have been very happy with my nails). There were only two other clients getting their nails done other than me. So why the rush! Won't be coming back here again. P.S I know of two other clients who stopped visiting this location cause the same reason.

I took this at the nail dryer in the salon. It's hard to see the bubbling, but not the sloppy application. But the shape is great!

I'll preface this by saying I wish I could give a 3.5 instead of a 3. So I'm new in the neighborhood and am on the hunt for a steady nail place and went to my trusty Yelp for suggestions. The reviews of this salon were pretty mixed but I found they were right on the money. I understand what the other reviewers say about the staff here being rude. While no one was particularly rude to me, they weren't overtly friendly or nice. It was pretty silent in there almost the entire time I was there. Not a deal breaker by any means, but a little off putting none the less. That being said, I thought Kiki did a good job on my manicure and pedicure. She filed a nice shape and pushed my cuticles back well. When I asked her to make some nails shorter or even out some edges she did so with no problem. Unfortunately the actual polish application was a bit sloppy and too thick for my liking. It actually bubbled while I was still at the salon. Definitely a bummer. The price point is great ($26 for a no frills added mani/pedi) and the salon is very clean, pleasant, and bright. They definitely have a large clientel if the crowd is any indication. I got there 15 minutes after the opened and every pedicure chair was already full. I was lucky enough to be taken right away but next time, I'll make a reservation for sure. Overall, it was nothing stellar but good enough that I'd come back and try a gel mani - and update my review with a hopefully higher rating.

    Heal turning blue around cut

My wife went to Bess Salon and Spa today for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. She has been a loyal customer their for 3 years. While receiving the pedicure she was cut pretty severely on her left heal with a razor. (Not sure if razor was even sterile ) Blood everywhere and continuing to drip in the foot tub for the next hour while Charlene (Manager and owner) paid no attention to her, spoke to the others in their language and walked out the door ! What kind of business owner treats its customers like that !?? In pain she walked home and her foot is blue and numb.. No way to run a business or care for a loyal customer. She had the employees take payment for the butchering and allowed my wife to hobble home. Tomorrow I will ask for a full refund. If it is not refunded I We will be considering a law suit.. Keep you posted. Michael J. (Husband)

Always a satisfied customer with my pedicure and my Bio-Gel manicure done by Charlene she's the best!

This place is the best nail salon I have ever been to in queens, it's so clean and smells good inside! The bathroom looks nice, they have a massage room downstairs, and all the girls are very good at what they do, also Charlene ( the owner ) is the best she's been experienced for a very long time, she is specialized in Bio Gel... Which I prefer for my nails it lasts way longer than regular gel, and your actual nails grow and become stronger.. Everybody that had something negative to say about this place is probably because they are cheap and don't give no tip... Come on ladies... Stop being cheap you get what you pay for....

Came here with a groupon. My lady was very meticulous my polish lasted 2 whole days!! I made sure to air dry since I read about the UV stuff. Will not come here again. I don't know what went wrong the people are great but why did my polish come off in 2 days? I use Essie at home and it normally lasts me 5 days while OPI lasts me 7-8 days. Makes no sense. Even my toenails are chipped, my toenails never chip! Again, staff and cleanliness is an A++ but everythingelse besides that not so great.

I like the set up, it's pretty clean and relaxing

I come here every week. I love the options for the pedicures... I always get the lemon spa; which includes a 15 min foot/ leg massage. Gasp* I'm a sucker for massages. All the ladies are pretty quick & friendly. Downstairs they have a private room for massages. It's like a little spa but for cheap (compared to other places) they do everything from deep tissue to hot rocks. Amazing!!! If you don't want to go down stairs than no worries, there's massages chairs upstairs. Perfect when your waiting for your nails to dry. My fiancé and I come here all the time. It's close to home and during the week it's easy to walk right in without a wait. I believe for a 1 hr massage is about $37, paid in cash. I always tip. If you feel their being to rough, just tell them! If I could give them 6 stars I would. Amazing, amazing, amazing. (Only down fall for their business if they don't do acrylic nails)

Great salon, the owner Charlene is really personable and the girls all do a good job. Been coming here for years!

Very clean and love the air quality. They have a huge Eco air filter system so no polish smell. Awesome!

So I've waiting sometime before writing a review to see if anything that I read from the other reviewers with bad experiences was something I would encounter here. As you can see from the rating I gave them I have nothing but really good experiences at this nail salon. It's exactly the type of salon I had been hoping for in my new neighborhood. I am not originally from queens so since moving here I've been having a hard time trying to find a place I would feel comfortable at with the quality in service I enjoy from a salon. I have had different girls do my weekly pedicure and manicures even the owner. I will honestly tell you that from all the many places I have gotten manicures and pedicures and not just different boroughs but states I've lived in this place is amongst the best in quality. They really are detailed and focused on the job they are doing, you can really tell the owner takes charge and is about customer care. She's extremely attentive of how her employees are working or interacting with customers to ensure there is no miscommunication and that the customer is satisfied. I have observed on many occasions how she is very attentive to her staff and their work being done as well as to the customers. I find they are all friendly and very polite. They don't rush jobs to take another customer from what I have observed. The manicures are always perfect and last me the week or more. The polish they use are good I usually stick with OPI but have used other ones they have without a problem. The nail technicians are very detailed to the cuticles n shaping of nails and they are respectful of your time. I personally have never observed any talking amongst themselves of customers because they are too busy working. The place is very clean and the air quality is very good for a salon. I noticed they have a very expensive air filter in the salon which is a plus that they care enough to invest in one so expensive and huge. They are a bit pricey I would agree but the quality of the work, products, services and the environment are worth the extra few dollars. I've personally never had a long wait and I never make appointments. It's never crowded where you can't get serviced in time. The hours are great open super late which surprised me but it's so good no to have to rush to get there. They take credit cards but tip needs to be cash like in most salons. There was one time when the owner even got up to apologize to me for a wait that was only 6 minutes which I thought was very considerate. They have a special on pedi n mani Monday thru Thursday of 20% off service. They do give shoulder massage while you dry as well. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone looking for quality in nail care n service.

If you are looking for the best nail salon in Forest Hills, you've found it. Don't waste your time with other places - Charlene is awesome and she runs a great place. Staff is very nice and friendly. Facility is VERY CLEAN. Overall - this has got to be the most professionally run - one of a kind - Nail Salons in Queens. Excellent and reasonably priced massage downstairs. Tables are awesome!

I have gone to Bess Nails since I discovered them Jan 2017 and I've been a loyal client ever since. Charlene (the owner) put me on to something called nexgen which give me life. Everybody compliments me on how beautiful my natural nails are and she's so detailed in perfecting the shape and length that it's hard not to notice. They last me an entire month and I spend a lot of time at work on a computer typing! Would never go anywhere else!!

Everyone here is so kind! I was a bit unhappy with my nail…read moredesign and went back few days after to get it fixed and they were very nice about it! I found my go to place!!

Went here 2x in one week: first time for the manicure and second time for the repair…read more Will I go back? NO The picture of both hands is what we all ideally want but.... Quality of service 1/5 Some ladies translate amongst and for each other and that's okay but what is not okay for them to miscommunicate pricing to the costumer I asked the same question 3x to the person who spoke English: 1. Are those colors the same price? 2. No extra charge? 3. No more money? And the English speaking one said NO and another lady who does not speak English does my manicure and uses cat eye, which ends up being $25 extra at the end I ask them why because I clarified 3x and they gossip in Chinese not knowing I understand it that it was me not willing to pay it so they waived it forcibly and rolled their eyes at me and didn't talk to me. I still tipped 25% and leave $40 gel manicure $10 hard gel extra charge The lady that actually does your nails and not translating the first time? Friendly and that's 1 star The second one named Mia: pretend friendly BUT manipulative "There is morning wrong with our hard gel, your nail is just hard. You should have paid for the $90 UV gel instead of the $50 hard gel" and does NOT pay attention to detail NOR take feedback well Skill 2/5 You can tell they are trained in batches because they all utilize the same technique and it's only good if they are good and it's really bad if it's bad My First Lady: the 2 stars are for her My Second Lady: Paying attention to detail is SO not her skill NOR is taking feedback My Second Lady glued the end extension crooked and refused to take it out so just kept on filing until the nail was too short and not even with others. All other nails are concave. The extension is convex and titled out to an angle way too the left. The top coat from Second Lady: uneven with big dips and bumps and I will NOT wanna go back a 3x to let her fix it. With gel manicures, the top coat is everything and they ruined it I still tipped Second Lady 25% because if you speak up, they scream at you, give you attitude, and the door is locked unless they unlock it remotely Vibe 0/5 They are hot and cold re customer service wise and the second half of the store is under remodeling with some loud thumping. The first half can be more tidy albeit no remodeling. Back hand washing station is overcrowded. Walkway to the bathroom pass the hand washing station is dark Pricing 0/5 If I was paying for quality service and skill, this would have been slightly above average pricing in Flushing but because you get bad service and no attention to detail, it's a 0 Three days later after my first visit, 2 of my nails broke albeit I had hard gel. So the extra $10 for THEIR hard gel won't make a difference versus regular At first they said repair was free 2x but they were going to just paint of over the broken nails with no extension or filing meaning you were gonna have 4 long almond and 1 short square/jagged nail on each hand. And the nail tech proceeded to do that until I told her to please take the gel off my broken infield nail and put an extension on it so all nails are even length and shape and she said $10 for each, so the repair was $20 and not free. That's okay, but to think they really were gonna let you leave the studio like that SMH Also the supposed top coat they give you on all your nails after you repair 2-bumpy and uneven--huge dips and throws all the money you used previously on all other fingers out the window. Gel depends 90% on top coat This is above average pricing in flushing with really sh*tty service and below average skill. Check out Arete Beauty instead! Cheaper (cat eye is an extra $10 not $25) and better skill set and service but make an appointment
