This place is absolutely amazing. About three weeks ago we mysteriously had a flat and brought it in here right as they were closing. Two staff members helped us on the spot and repaired our tire, even though it required dismounting it and submersing it in water to find the leak. This morning we had a nail puncture in a different tire. I drove over and was there right as they opened and again they fixed it on the spot, this time in under five minutes Either time they could've told me I needed a reservation or charged me significantly more, but they are just good honest mechanics. This place is a couple blocks away so drove in. There were so many cars there I was worried they wouldn't be able to help me. I had a nail my tire, but he showed me that both front tires were in bad shape due to misalignment. I said I'm getting ready to drive to So Cal. and he assured me it wasn't safe to do this, offered to replace the front tires, and do an alignment all for only $300 - and the best part was he did it in just over an hour!! We had a not-so-slow leak in one tire and needed to still drive ~60 miles to get to a tire shop near our home. We pulled into this place seeking to pump some air to take us partway or all the way to our destination. The mechanic/owner dropped what he was doing, examined the tire, had us go back and forth on the tire a little, found the issue, removed the razor blade, pumped a temp patch, pumped air and sent us in our way! All within 15-20 min with absolute expertise and good manners. We had to insist to pay a little for his trouble. He saved the day for us and we are grateful. Just great. I've gone to a nearby tire shop for years, one that many, many people use. All I needed to do was get a nail puncture/slow leak fixed. My place just upped the price to $35, which seemed high to me, so I called around to other places that are highly rated. Best American had the lowest price ($25), no reservation needed. Drove in, walked down the block for a doughnut, walked back and it was ready to go -- 15 minutes rather than an hour. Nice guy, too! read more

I compared this local business with Costco and a national chain. I asked these guys if they could replace my tires with the make and model as provided on the car, since I knew that Tesla engineered them with some unusual features related to rolling resistance and noise. They called their supplier, went to get them and had them installed in about two hours. Costco offered something similar but I couldn't tell how comparable the features were, offered to have them delivered in several days, and would not offer me an appointment until I purchased the tires. So I did that, only to find out I'd have to wait 10 days for an appointment. (Purchase cancelled!) The national chain offered to get the tires in 3-5 days, and also appeared to require purchase before appointment ... which would have been a 30 minute drive each way. I paid 10%-20% more for my tires here, but is that due to the retailer or the tire manufacturer and model? We'll never know, because neither Costco nor the national chain seemed to offer the tire I wanted and got. And I got them when I wanted, and just down the street from my house. Plus, the casual vibe in this place left me free to inspect my car, under which I discovered damage to the pan, which I can now proceed to fix to prevent additional damage. I respect that some people want the absolute bottom price and they are convinced they'll get that from Costco and maybe others, but I'm quite happy with the service and value I got from this business. read more

Shah is amazing! This place has the best service and he has my trust and confidence. I have come here a few times with different cars and he has told me which (less expensive) tire to buy, found and fixed a tire with a nail in it in 15 mins right before a road trip, searched a tire and not found anything wrong with it and provided a much appreciated second opinion to the dealer service. I almost want a tire problem bc he's so helpful and earnest. Right after my most recent trip, I told the O'Reilly auto parts clerk that Best American Tires was awesome and she said- oh we know and relayed another story of him coming to her rescue. I highly recommend this place. I was in Albany visiting a friend. By luck, I noticed a huge nail/piece of nail in my tire as I was getting in my car to make a 45 mile drive home. In a panic I called and the guy said to bring it in. They didn't have the tire model I needed in stock but they could order it and have it ready by 10a the next day. One of the employees drove me to the closest BART station as I obviously couldn't drive the car home. I thought this was above & beyond great customer service. I got a flat tire hitting a curb near my house and because the whole tire went flat fast, I happened to park the car a block away from Best American Tire. I called my regular auto shop & they recommended them as a really excellent place. Boy were they right! The service was immediate and professional. Timor the store manager said we could be serviced right away. One of their guys, Khalil came with me to my stranded car, took off the bad tire, then we drove it back and picked up a new one and he changed it right there on the spot. My first experience was ok, the mechanic installed tires that I bought online, price was competitive but no receipt was provided. Second visit was horrible, tried to upsala me suspensión parts they claimed were SO rusted it was impossible to re assemble, I went to check it out and turned out they have no clue how to remove cotter pin and ended up damaging the treads of my tie rod end and ball joint, then after I told them that I was a ASE Master tech before they said ok ok they gonna fix it, I went home and and hour later they call me up and told me to pick up my car cause they gave up, so my suspensión parts were put together without securing cotter pins and damaged tread. Tempted to report them to BAR, DCA, be careful when you bring your car there! read more

Friendly, professional, good work, just slow. Only two guys doing their best. Came in to get my tire checked out, very slow leak I had to get patched. A few people in front of me also getting work done so with only two guys the work is feathered out between jobs which was fine for me. They have an indoor closed off seating area while you wait for your vehicle with hot and cold water available, don't dehydrate. End up costing $20 for a patch which was very reasonable, typically usually $30-40. I'd come back if i needed a tire repair. read more

Great service and a good price for minor tire work. I needed a tire puncture repaired on one of my cars, an old tire (that I had stored) mounted on the same vehicle, and a single new tire for another car. They were fast (word done in an hour for both cars), courteous, and at a really good price. Two major tire service companies would not do this work or charged way to much for the same service. Costco has great prices for tires but I may be coming back to BAT for the special service and convenience. read more

My first tire leak in my 1.5 year old car! Anyone who has seen that flat tire light knows the inherent stress that accompanies it. After being burned by a tire place in the past, I'd taken my old car to the dealership to evaluate flats. Unfortunately, the new dealership isn't open on weekends. Best American Tires to the rescue! After reading reviews, I have them a call on Saturday morning and was told to bring my car in. This place is pretty small-- there's just enough room for two cars to fit side by side in the driveway. I pulled up, showed them which tire was leaking, got to watch them pull the tire off, then show me the dastardly nail. I was informed that since my tires are special (something about being filled with foam?) a patch would be a little more expensive than normal-$40. However, 15 minutes later, the tire was patched and back on, and I was only charged $25 because, "it actually wasn't too difficult afterall." All said and done, $25 patch, and maybe a 30 minute visit, which would have been shorter had I been first in line instead of second. Sorry dealership, after this service, I know where I'll be taking my car from now on! read more

Just want to write a review to save people some headaches and to help you look for a better place to fix your car. While you probably come to this place for the affordable prices. Be aware that poorly trained technicians do the work and will be brake your car. Yesterday, My husband took my van there to get a tire changed and bought a replacement when I got home and my husband's brother checked on the work they did because there was a clicking noise on the tire. He saw that 2 bolts/ studs fell off on the floor when he removed the hub cap. The next day we took the car back thinking this place would make it right. To our surprise they said they will but they will charge for it. So they did not take responsibility for their actions and it looked like they break things on purpose so that they can make more busine$$ from you. Avoid this place if you don't want to be taken advantage of and also bare in mind that your life could be in jeopardy because their irresponsible actions could cause a loose tire in the freeway a cause a tragedy on my and my family. The first time, it was because SOMEONE knocked the side mirror off of the car; and the second time, it was to get wheel bearings replaced.
