I've never had any problem with my local Best Buy (hint: it's this one). The store is clean and organized inside. I can usually walk right in, find what I need and then browse through the store a little because why not? That's when I find some electronic that hadn't ever popped into my mind before but now that I've discovered it, I can buy it. They also price-match (in case you found it cheaper somewhere else), so that's always a plus. The staff have always been willing to help me find what I need. And I've yet to have an unpleasant return experience here - they're hassle-free and I get my money back. Sometimes you buy something you weren't satisfied with and need to return it. They understand and don't criticize you for it. I'm a frequent shopper here and I'll continue to be one. read more

Take a moment to do a comparison. On December 21, 2024, my 88-year-old mother bought a television from Best Buy Chici. 48 inch LG-OLED.... Somehow they managed to charge her $600 for the television, $249 to install it and $100 for a very cheap wall mount. I'm sure the sales people at Best Buy realized that she knew nothing about how all of this works. 14 months later, the TV completely fails. Normally, LG TVs are quite reliable but this one happened to be defective. Because the warranty from Best Buy is only one year... Basically the same as what LG provides, they are simply refusing to acknowledge that they may have sold a defective product and are avoiding any attempt at making it right. In order to get a television that was functioning to my mother quickly, I went to Costco in Chico and was able to buy a 55 inch LGUG 77 television for only $299 with a standard three-year warranty from Costco, extended to five years for only an additional $35. The disappointing part is that Best Buy is totally unwilling to be flexible, recognize that this might be an unusual circumstance, and do anything besides just look at the policy manuals and reiterate what they are reading from the corporate script. When you are shopping, do your research. Even if Best Buy offers flexible financing, I guarantee that the geek squad service is not worth the paper it's printed on and the customer service will not be there for you if anything goes wrong. I sent my iPhone mini 13 in for a battery replacement since my battery was only lasting a few hours at a time. The guy who checked me in said it would take about an hour since they had the parts in stock...Wellll....a week later I got my phone back..while they were replacing my battery they broke the display on my phone and couldn't get the part required to fix my phone for 8 days..word to the wise don't try to get your phone fixed just replace it. Having a small business and needing your phone for emails and constant contact could end up being a serious issue!! read more

I was returning a phone card via Mint Mobile as it apparently doesn't work for an iPhone 14 Pro Max unbeknownst to me. Matt stated it can't be returned via "our system doesn't allow me to return it." I then asked Matt for a policy stating it can't be returned (Matt & Kai photographed looking for said policy.) Kai then returned mentioning the system not allowing him to return my phone card, but admitting finding no policy stating, otherwise. When I mentioned being aware of the system reasoning (Matt previously referenced) Kai cut me off, and condescendingly asked me, "Oh! So you know our system?" Completely uncalled for. If I could give a zero, I would. KAI, uncooperative supervisor. Sitting by the doors like it's a throne. I got myself a second job which was a remote job. I bought a MacBook for it and since the remote job didn't work for me, I wanted to return obviously. I called Best Buy, only to be routed to their third party call center. They told me that I won't get a money refund since it's past my 15 days but that I would get in store credit. I figured and was totally okay with it, perhaps I'd find a product better in use than a MacBook sitting on my table... well there I go looking dumb tell the supervisor as well, what was honored to me and he kept nodding no. It's their "SOP policy" they can't do anything. I asked to speak to a store manager, and he said he's too busy. So I said if I can get his information to explain what I was told my their call center and he said well I don't have anyone above me. So quick now to say that? anyways, I left the store before he acted like I, the customer, was escalating it after he was dismissing everything I was saying.. I called again, third party again, and they told me same thing, IN STORE CREDIT ! and when I told them how I got treated and why I am not getting honored what they are saying they themselves don't understand WHY I CANT GET STORE CREDIT. being told now TWICE. Bought a new iphone after my old one broke. Told them i wanted to pay in full, not finance through Verizon so i wouldn't be locked into a contract. obviously they had an incentive to finance, because, unknown to me at the time, they financed $24.99 over 36 months, and charged me $1300+ at the time. they foolishly believe i wouldn't read the contracts sent to me or check my bill. so, 4 stars for selection, price is same as every where, 3 stars, but negative stars for deceitful practices. read more

I'm sick of being lied to by Best Buy in Chico CA. That's much worse to me than being disinterested in actually helping me (which some of the on-floor workers tend to be, just pointing west and saying "over there," for example, when I asked for help with a printer. Not helpful.). Then Julian recommended a printer so terrible that three tech wiz's (two kind, patient folks there who only worked with me because I insisted, so upset by their colleague's lies, and one tech friend) could not figure out how set it up. An hp envy6065e. Ridiculously frustrating. I bought it because Julian promised that (1) it's user friendly, very easy to set up and (2) I could get free help in connecting it with my home wifi. No. This cost me greatly in time, money and aggravation. Then, when I paid to trade up because nobody could figure out why it would not connect with any wifi network, I exchanged it for a pricier one. I also requested a visit from the Geek squad --ONLY AFTER being promised I'd get a phone call the day prior to arrange a set up time. I did not get any such phone call. That was another lie. Best Buy Geek squad techs do not even get notice of their assignments until the morning of. Yet Best Buy fails at communicating with its technicians and or receiving input. This does not work for customers. We cannot simply be on-call, when we're promised a phone call with 24 hours notice and the opportunity to decide on our own schedule availability. A non-techie like me has their hands tied when they have to rely on help. All I can do is Best Buy here to insist that internal communication improves and honesty takes precedence, so that customers like me don't end up paying the price in frustrations, money, time, and stress. Please read this. I have been doing business with Best Buy for years. I have had the best service and the customer support has been outstanding. I truly am upset to have to post this. Best Buy in Chico is a horrible place to do business. DO NOT use their Geek Squad. I am a total tech customer and again this is the first time ever that I got ran thru the ringer. I ordered a tv sound system from them. I was told it would take 4 weeks to get to my home and install it. I was okay with it because they were going to get my tv to me before the Super Bowl. The day of installation this guy called me and said he would be there at 1030am. Later he called me back and said that due to the roads being flooded he was not coming. When I asked why he went off with this horrible attitude about it being flooded and his safety. I told him I understand but after hanging up I called our Local Sheriffs office and they told me the road down hwy99 was open and then he could take hwy20. So he basically lied to me. When I reached back out to him and told him he could get here he went off on me. He told me he was going to an install in Chico first and that he wasn't being paid to drive the extra miles nor was he willing to risk his life. I told him that changing the schedule was above his pay grade. He proceeded with his horrible attitude and told me that he wasn't coming. At this point I thought he was scab labor not the Geek squad as never before have th Geek Squad been so rude. So I called this lady who was nice enough to give me her personal phone number. She was appalled at the way he talked to me and she then let me know that he does work for the Geek Squad. I was shocked that he did and was even more shocked to find out that she could not write him up for his conduct. I was very upset as now I knew I was going to have to wait until next year to watch the Super Bowl on my new tv set. This kid told that his boss was on leave for medical reasons and he shared lots of other information. I told him that none of this is my fault and I don't need to hear this. The next day I found out that Hwy 32 was open at 830am so he could have driven straight here. I called the lady that gave me her number and I shared with here the entire story after finding out all the facts. She wanted me to continue to buy the tv and got thru the store. I thought about it thru out the day and decided to cancel the entire order to show the store how I felt and that this kid was out of line. The very next day I went to the Woodland Best Buy and purchased all the same stuff and they are coming in 12 days to install the tv. I shared the story with them and they screen shot all the communication on their end including the kids name. They promised me that they would do something about this as they do not hire people that act like this. I love the service I get and I am a total care with them so I went back . I will never do business with the Chico Best Buy ever again. I want their corporate to hear this story and I want the kid fired. No one ever needs to deal with his childish behavior ever again. He also ruined the Super Bowl for our family as we so looked forward to watching in on the new system on a much bigger screen. I truly hope he is already looking for a new job but I doubt it as no one at the store will even call me back. I was told they would call me back yesterday run 24 hours and that ended at 1pm today and still no call. If I could rate zero stars, I would. Just took my kid in to spend Christmas and birthday cash he has been saving up for a long time. He purchased a handheld gaming system (spent a ton of money) and brought it home. Immediately, the buttons were sticking and not working. His dad drove him back to Best Buy to return it. Because my son paid in cash, they refused to refund cash and told him he can wait for a check to come in the mail or get refunded in gift cards. So either we are stuck purchasing something from Best Buy (what if we didn't want to purchase here again?) or wait to receive a check to go pick up a gift. Apparently they don't have that kind of cash in store? How does that make sense when we just gave you that cash? This will be the ABSOLUTE LAST BEST BUY PURCHASE WE MAKE. I have a disability that makes me shake, I need a cane to walk, and wear a mask. I most often feel the sting of harsh stares or look aways when I am out. Today I walked into the Best Buy bathroom and a female employee said hello with a huge smile on her face as if we were best friends and she was welcoming me into her home. A nice young man in the computer department helped me for quite awhile also treating me kindly. As I passed other employees, they were friendly. I haven't felt welcomed or really seen anywhere in a very long time. I just wanted to say thank you to the Best Buy employees who treated me like a person today, as I used to be treated before I had a physical disability. I called to ask for help in completing the set up of SONOS speakers that the sales rep had told me were easy to set up and was transferred to someone who didn't speak good English and told me she knew nothing about the product and wanted to schedule someone to make a service call. I just spent over $500 on the speakers, and part of the reason I bought them was because I was told they were easy to set up. So, no. I don't want to pay more money to have someone set them up. I returned them. There are lots of youtube videos that describe how complicated it is to get the speakers to pair and so it wasn't honest for the Best Buy staff to paint the picture that it would be easy. read more

I normally have a pretty decent experience with Best Buy. Staff both by phone and in person are normally super helpful...not anymore. I was informed by a staff member late last year that my screen protector that has a lifetime protection plans, was going to be discontinued this September of 2025 due to the phone I have phasing out. That is fine. The fact he gave me that much notice was awesome so I knew how much time I had to continue to trade out the screen. Today was another day. Since I know now that it is being discontinued soon, I have been calling in to make sure it is still in stock. I spoke to multiple people who originally stated they were all located in the Chico store. It wasn't until I was hung up on and transferred more than 3 times and still hung up on, that I have lost all respect for this store. The last person I spoke to on the phone finally stated they are just "Chico reps" they don't actually work in the store, in fact they don't even work in the US! So if you are calling for ANY local store information good luck! They have no clue from the other side of the world. Also, they will continue to try to charge you to reserve anything even if you have a lifetime warranty on said product. Just a heads up. When I walked in they immediately said we are closing in nine minutes and I've been wanting to buy a new computer for a while. A kind lady named Jayden she was tall and had brown hair approached me and she helped me extremely. She stayed 15 minutes past the time she was supposed to be off and helped me apply for the credit card and get my new Lenovo computer. She was so helpful and same with the manager, he was a gentleman with curly hair. I will definitely be coming back the to the Best Buy Chico store but maybe not right when they are about to close. We bought a washer/dryer tower and told them several times when we bought it that we had propane and they even added a conversion kit to our order and had us order another part needed for installing propane (thru Amazon as they didn't sell it). They told us when we bought it that if we signed up for a best buy credit card we would free install and delivery. We did all that and now when they deliver it they won't install it!! They now want to charge us another $200.00 for install to call someone else to come and install it in 10 days. It's days from Christmas and we have family coming to stay here but we we won't have any way to wash our clothes!!! (had to get rid of our old washer & dryer to make room)!!! We spent over $2k, even more because we bought their company 2 year warranty plan (and when looking at the receipt for the conversion kit I noticed we were actually charged $30 for delivery despite what we were told!) and now they want more $$ to install it!! WE TOLD THEM FROM THE START we had propane and they said it was not a problem as long as we bought the conversion kit. We live in a rural area so propane is very common. They flat out LIED to us! So because they lied, we have no way to wash our clothes (family of 6) for nearly 2 weeks and now have to pay even more $ to actually install it!! **Don't shop here, they lie, charge you for stuff they say you'll get free and then extort more money out of you when they know you have no other options!! Apparently when calling ANY Best Buy store, all local numbers go to a centralized call center and at the beginning of the "greeting" message, they say "We are no longer accepting calls at this location" then boast about their national call center as though it's some kind of improvement that will make customers so happy; Then we are told that it may be at least 8 minutes before they decide to take our calls. Tried to get a hold of the store via phone! They used to have a shitty call service now they just don't have one at all. I called the local phone number and got routed to a "national" call center that does not open until 11 AM Pacific standard time, even though there are other stores throughout the nation to open up earlier. I was on hold with them from the time it took me to drive all the way to Best Buy, get my question answered once they finally opened up, and drive all the way back home before someone at the call center finally answered my phone call. She said the reason they do not answer phones in the store is because they don't have a "team" to answer phones. When asked why it takes a "team" to answer a phone call, she replied because we don't have a team to answer phones at the store. Once again I asked why it takes a team to answer a phone call, she says because we have a national call center. She was like a robot, a stupid robot! Repeating the same phrases over and over again to different questions. This is so frustrating...getting crappy customer service and having literally NO ONE care!! They got us ALL suckered in by giving us cheap prices and running everyone else out of business, and stop having good customer service (to save money, time, and hassles) then refuse to answer our questions in person or over the phone because they don't have a "specialized" team to do so! Customer service used to mean something. Now they know all of us suckers will just pay whatever and order online and forget about ever having the expectation of talking to a human being when we have a question. I went to get an Apple Carplay stereo installed in my car since mine stopped working and the Geek Squad installed it for free since the stereo cost over a certain amount, which was awesome. Philip helped me out the entire experience with troubleshooting my old car stereo, helping me pick the new one, getting me an appointment ASAP, and installing it in my car the next day. He was awesome! He was really nice and helpful in finding me find a good, long-lasting stereo that was in my budget, and was patient explaining "car things" to me that I didn't know :) I left with a brand new (working!) stereo and feeling confident that he had my best interest in mind. read more

I had the worst experience with my Sony car Sterio it gave me problems from the star as soon as they installed it. The wound not swap it out with out right away told me they would not swap it or refund the price of it so I could up grade it now they said it's been over 60 day so now they can't credit it back to me for a upgrade now I'm stuck with it and it only works half the time. They could have honored the warranty in the beginning but chose not to. Worst experience ever. The chico ca Best Buy beware very shady not willing to help you at all.
