This review is specific to the Geek Squad service inside of this Best Buy location in Fair Lakes. I had the misfortune of my iphone freezing up during a software update. I needed to get help with Apple care asap and the earliest appointment availability was with Geek Squad. I was able to easily make the appointment online and came in for the appointment. I came a little early but the representative was able to check me in early and started the troubleshooting process. It took over an hour for my phone to reboot but I felt like the staff were doing the best they could and constantly kept me informed on the status as well. Great customer service and I am happy to say my iphone is now back to working again. FYI: be sure to make an appointment ahead of time. They do not do drop ins without an appointment. read more

I had a TV I was looking for a this this awesome employee by the name of Aaron B. Went out of his way to find it, explained why I should buy the geek squad protection, and made my transaction smooth. This Best Buy has everything you're looking for and has a nice layout, with plenty of employees that are willing to help and are friendly at that. Best Buy deals are usually a steal or not. I was a big fan of their tech support plan, but it doesn't have the sweet deals it used too, but I do like how there are options. The warranties are worth just slow down to read what works for you and what doesn't. Also they currently have service fees which makes sense in case of an accident. Shortly after Black Friday I bought a car remote starter for my car. I had to wait 5 weeks until I could get it installed though which was rather aggravating though. It was what it was and I signed up to have it installed on January 6th. I went there as scheduled (and confirmed in my Best Buy app) only to be asked why I was there. I explained to the gentleman in the mobile install area that I had an appointment and gave him the confirmation number and showed him my appointment in the app. He had no such record. After a bunch of back and forth and without him offering a solution other than to reschedule me for some time in February I left and we went into the store. I spoke with Rowan who expressed a desire to help, unlike the guy in the install area. He explained that their store is one of two in the area that do installs anymore so it's hard to get an appointment. He told me my appointment for the 6th had been cancelled but couldn't tell me by who. We got an appointment scheduled about 10 days later at the Potomac Mills store. Rowan was very nice and gave me a piece of paper with a QR code on it that I could use to file a complaint. He said all managers will see it and someone will get back to me. Crickets. Almost a month later I still haven't heard from anyone. I don't normally shop at Best Buy but they had a great price on this. Guess where I won't be going again? Stay away from the Magnolia store, its run with incompetence and zero communication. They are great at billing you, but when products are missing, not working well or they owe you a refund, they go missing and never respond to text or calls. You are better off dealing with a high end home theater store, because you will pay the same or less than Magnolia but with much better service. read more

In summary, massive fail for installation of gas dryer scheduled for today, 12/22. Paid in full $199 on 12/18. Time frame was a bit wide 7am to 7pm. But OK. 7am comes and no updates. Try to reach installation service. No way to connect other than following a link that leads me to my account login. No contact information there. Not helpful. So I drive to Best Buy in Fair Lakes Virginia. They really can't help but give me the secret phone number to call for installation support. It is 800 304 1259. I call the customer service number. Where they explain that the installation is not scheduled But hey, I say. I have two confirmations from Best Buy. I am scheduled. No you are not. Yes I am. 14 times we go back and forth. Ok then, can you schedule me for today? No. Next slot is 12/28. What? Yes 12/28. Ok can I speak to a manager or someone that might be able to help me? No. There is no one here. Ok just refund my money. I go home. I entered a request with Home Depot installation services. Got a call from a contractor within 2 minutes. He's coming by this morning. Thanks Home Depot. Really frustrating experience. Purchased an Electrolux washer and dryer with stainless steel drums. Dryer was delivered with white painted steel. Wasted a second day waiting for them to deliver the correct dryer for them to arrive late, missed an entire day of work, and they delivered the exact same WRONG dryer. You can't get hold of a GM or anyone other than a basic supervisor in the store. They had me send to an email list that allegedly goes to the GM. Has been over a week and a follow-up email and not only has no one had the courtesy to acknowledge the email, but I still have no path to resolution. read more

Purchased a nice large t.v. at the Fair Lakes store three weeks ago. A delivery date was given for 10/10/25. We got a number of texts the days before the delivery day, move furniture, remove pet, etc. We did everything in preparation, also taking the day off. The night before delivery, we received a message we would get the time frame for installation in the morning. to make a long story short, they never arrived. We also did not get any calls or anymore texts. We tried calling them, but do you know you can't reach anyone in the actual store ? You get routed to a call center in another country. did you also know you can't cancel the order and get a refund on the phone? We ended up having to drive 40 minutes to Fair Lakes to get a refund. and let me tell you, this was not easy. another 30 or more minutes trying to get the refund. The store manager was an egotistical man who couldn't have cared less why we wanted our money back. Couldnt care less they never showed up to install our t.v. We will never, and I mean never, step foot in a Best Buy again. we have spent a lot of money there on electronics and appliances, never again. No one apologized for this also. bad service. I will not be surprised when I hear they have gone belly up. Just plain bad customer service. Within half an hour. we went up the street and got the same exact t.v. for less money. On May 23rd I went to purchased an item in store as it said it was in stock however it was not so it needed ordered and was GUARANTEED a delivery of May 26th. On May 26th my order did not arrive, I contacted them and way told to give it 24 hours, on May 27th I receive notice that it was finally shipping from CA, I contacted Best Buy again and was told they would send a replacement and I would have it by the 28th, possibly the 29th, but never provided with an updated order number or tracking number for the replacement, I contacted Best Buy again on the 28th as the price of the item dropped $320.99 on Amazon, and to follow up on receiving a tracking number for the replacement to which they still could not provide me with and have escalated this matter to address the price matching, as well as reached out to UPS as the item had not moved locations in over 24 hrs for the original order when I was told that I would have the order on the 29th. The 29th comes and I still do not have an updated tracking number and contacted Best Buy again to which they still can not provide and ensured it was notated that the website shows a delivery of June 1st if I was to place the order that day but that my order placed on the 23rd now shows a deliver date of June 3rd at that time. It is now June 2nd the item still has not moved locations from UPS since May 28th and still shows a deliver of June 3rd, and I have yet to receive any indication from the case escalated on the price match. read more

First off thank you to the staff who work here. Have been delighted by them, and the exemplary customer service. As for parking, have your car some distance away. A lot of non drivers. Also watch all directions walking to and from your ride to the store. A lot of maniacs in a hurry. Best bet is visit this store day time on a week day. Weekends are chaotic. read more

Nov 27 - ordered a Samsung watch from Samsung to be picked up here. Received text and email saying it's ready. Come to see it's not, saying that they have 200 individual packages to receive and won't have time to get around to it. I've helped with inventory for best buy at it's busy times back when black Friday weekend was a disaster and stores would still be recovering with 3 hour long wait lines at customer service - it's really not hard. I made an appointment to have my screen repaired at which time I was asked to specify the model. a couple hours before the appointment I get a call from them asking me to close down my Apple ID and Find Friends before I come in. When I get there at my appointment time, I am asked my model again so that they can check to see if they have the parts. Geek Squad rep tells me that even though they are Apple certified, they have to order parts from Apple and that could take a week. it turns out they don't have the screen so I end up making an appointment at Apple. Why make an appointment with me if you know my model and don't have the part? And why ask me to close down Apple ID before I get there if you know that there's a good chance it's not going to happen. you are better off going to Apple, same cost. read more

This is the worse Best Buy I've ever been to. No empathy, and complete lack of customer service skills from some of their management team such as Marvin and Farbod. I came to this location to exchange a TV with pixel anomalies which they determined was my fault as physical damage and refused my return. I ended up contacting a Best Buy with better customer service reputation, Fair City Mall, who offered another look and decision at my TV. After just a few moments they determined it was NOT my fault and that it should have been taken care of at Fair Lakes. All the cashiers and floor employees are great at Fair Lakes but Farbod, the assistant store manager seems to have a fear of dealing with customer issues. The first time I requested him, he didn't even greet or talk to me. He talked to me through his subordinates without even acknowledging my presence sitting right in front of him. Then after he left I requested for him to come right back and called him out on his lack of engagement and he obviously was so taken aback that he nervously just said "well I'm talking to you now." Haha please. Marvin also lacked decision making skills in his competencies as a leader as he kept defaulting to Farbod for better illustrated answers he could not relay. Both Farbod and Marvin also had no problem talking about how the return of my TV would affect their metrics in front of customers which first of all in customer service is a big no. Customers are people not numbers. IF you go here, plan to be outsmarted by those two. Go deeper and mentally or even physically record everything they say and do because it sure as heck ain't right and report them. They obviously need to have their mentalities corrected to keep their titles. And better yet, take your business to a different Best Buy. That's what I did, and succeeded. This review is for Iqbal in BB Fair Lakes appliances. He was terrific to work with and we spent a lot of $$$ with him to buy the appliances for our kitchen renovation. Everything went perfectly until the delivery of the induction stove and refrigerator. When countless calls to the customer service number did not resolve the problem, we went back to Iqbal, who, along with the store manager, completely resolved the problem in less than 15 minutes. Customer service reps lied to me, one hung up on me and one thought I should contact the appliance manufacturer. The delivery people damaged the appliance and our hardwood floor and why she thought the manufacturer should have a dog in the fight was absurd. Never got any of the promised 24-48 hour return calls to set up an exchange. Our kitchen renovation story has a very happy ending thanks to Iqbal. read more

I usually go here to buy DVDs that I want to add to my collection - I've not purchased much else here over the last few years. I've held off on buying any DVDs recently as I don't want to keep building my DVD collection and then have to replace it all when the Blu-Ray vs. HD DVD war is over - and potentially choose the losing format and have to replace everything yet again! Anyway, I digress - I stopped in today to look for a portable FM receiver unit that I can take to the gym and use to tune into the HD TV displays while I am on the treadmill. Getting good help at Best Buy is a crap shoot - today I asked a sales associate for help - he actually was able to help me - he showed me the three FM portable options that were available. Then another BB associate came by and asked if I needed any assistance. In the past, I've had BB associates blow absolute smoke up my *ss - giving me incorrect information about products. I also love how high BB marks up their HDMI and other video cables. My manager and I ran into each other one day in BB - we saw one guy who had a shopping cart full of HDMI and video cables - totaling about $450 worth of cables - when the sales associate left for a moment - my manager introduced himself and told him where to buy the same quality cables online for several hundred dollars less! Suffice to say - the sales associate was non-plussed when he returned and found my boss talking his customer out of buying the cables - then having my boss (an engineer) lecture the sales associate about the technical differences (or lack thereof) between what they were selling and more affordable cable options. It was amusing to watch and I had to work hard to stifle a laugh! read more

Horrible, dishonest experience. Purchased an 'open box' stove top, and the sales associated Lawrence did not give me any paperwork when I left the store as I was exchanging a stove top that had not been delivered for this one. Installers show up and there was no stove top to pick up. Three hours on hold with the Fair Lakes store, and no one picked up. I finally contacted the Gainesville store and they were SO helpful. Two hours later, they informed me that 'Lawrence' said that there was no transaction, and the supervisor (Katrinia) I believe states that there is no open box stove top. Lawrence took the 'red tag' off the range to process the transaction and just kept complaining about his computer. How sad to employ a sales associate that lies. THE WORST customer experience that I've ever had in any store from a sales rep and the manager. NUTSHELL: 2 hours in the store with a lying sales rep and store manager, attenpting to return 2 unopened laptops. Manassas store took 10 minutes for me to return. LONGER STORY: I went in on 1/14/2020 (last day of holiday season return policy) to return 2 laptops that I've purchased: both laptops with seals unbroken. First, the return rep gave me an attitude and refused my return. The 'logic' he gave me was because I had purchased too many items in a short period of time. (I splurged this past holiday season and stocked up on 17 TVs, laptops, etc.). Because I purchased items on sale, my account was red flagged. (How does this make sense?...) Thus, I asked for the manager which I had to wait 15 minutes for. The manager gave me the round-a-bout thinking that I'm an idiot. He told me that the system in the store will not allow him to return the item and PRETEND to press the touch screen to 'show' that a return is not possible like I'm 5 years old. He backed up the sales rep and told me that my account was red flagged for my many purchases. He told me it was not up to him WHEN IN TRUTH it was fully up to his discretion to accept any returns. Next, he told me that I have to call corportate and told me that any return I will have to go through the phone and was nudging me to not do it in the store. I insisted to make the call in store so we can solve this issue right away since it was the last day of the return policy. The manager ran away quickly afterwards. I stood by the customer service and called customer service, was transferred at least 6x, Best Buy dropped my call 2x, which I spent a total of 1.5 hours over the phone. I was being extremely patient. The last phone rep was the most helpful and told me that since I had purchased the item in store, the store manager have full athority in accepting the return or not. At this point, the manager was STILL LYING to my face and telling me he cannot take the item. The phone rep wanted to talk to the store manager and wanted me to hand my cellphone over to the manager. The manager in 3 attempts refused to simply take my cell phone and instead wanted the phone rep to call the store phone. I suspected that he was afraid I was using a phone conversation recording app. Atfer 5 minutes, he finally took my cell phone but walked away with it to the back It is obvious now that he did not want me to hear the conversation of him over the phone of refusing to process my return. It would have been SO MUCH better if the manager would have just told me that it's up to him to take my return or not so I do not waste 2 hours at the store for nothing. After I took my phone back from the manager, the phone rep told me my best chance is to just try another store because she could not convince the manager to take the item. (What kind of rudemary process is this?!). At that point, I had 30 minutes before the Best Buy in Manassas closed so I rushed over to Manassas Best Buy and they processed my return within 10 minutes. FINALLY! Both stores in the beginning of the return asked me where I purchased the item from. I purchased in Woodbridge Best Buy during Black Friday. I'm assuming that a return affects individual store gross sales quotas which maybe a reason the Fair Lakes store refused my return. Either that, some sort of discrimination... or just a terrible, lying, stubborn, incompetent sales rep and manager. I spent thousands at Best Buy during the holidays and this is how I'm treated. Jeeeeezzz. Got home around 10pm.. I wish I can escalate this terrible experience to a higher authority. Never had this issue with Amazon.. just sayin! read more

We have the Best Buy total care package, and we wanted a microwave that was available immediately, but a trim kit that was available much later. He said we would have to get both together at the later date and there's nothing we can do about it. I call the Best Buy customer support to ask if they do trim installs at a later date. I'm assuming they thought I was going to steal something because I was browsing for DVDs. THREE PEOPLE came up to me to bother me, also stood seriously way too close to me. It took 15 minutes to have someone ring us up. Where were all those people bothering me earlier? Then my card was declined because the expiration date is "past". I tried two cards. Kept declining. These stores are huge and theres so much sold here. You really need a map upon entering. Lucky for us customers it seems theres blue shirts to be seen, theres blues shirts are everywhere, in any direction you look. Usually in small groups three or four standing around in huddle. Today all that held true... I was in search of a specific item. A flip case cover for my cell phone. Cases seem to be all over the store, cause theres sooo many different cell phones out there today...I believe the iPhone 11 is out. They didnt have any elevens yet. Actually I was just looking for the Galaxy Note 10 + Mirror flipped case, you need to know exactly what your looking for. Just because these blue shirts are walking around representating the store doesn't mean they know what your talking, I'm not sure they know what they are talking about lol. ( from previous visits) I was directed to three different areas. Before I found just where I needed to be. I thought I found my case .. luckily I opened the box. I do know they are not pleased when you do this. Inside the box wasnt what, was stated...I opened another, same thing the camera lens would have been blocked if I had left with either if these... Found one that would of worked. But not the style I was in search of. I looked around and headed towards a group of blue shirts. One of them started heading towards me... I explained what I was looking for, and he starting walking towards the display I had just left... I showed him my findings. Location was okay, I just had an issue with the store pickup line as I waited over 7 minutes to get seen,with 2 male workers in the back, one walking around the other in the back. I said hello, one guy came and said hold on a moment, 3 minutes later he came and say hello how can I help, I told him I am here to pickup a TV, he ask for my number, I gave it to him and he went to look for it. He came back with a female worker and she spoke to me saying who payed for the tv, I explained it was my fiance, I gave all the information she ask for but I was confused as I payed for it using her card under my rewards account, I put her as a additional pickup just in case, they told me only she can pick it up because she is on the pickup. I said what? it's under my account she is a backup not the primary, they told me if u can go on our website and put u as a pickup u should be good to go, I do it and tell them we good? The woman tells me the process takes 15 to 20 minutes u can walk around the store until then, I'm like wow!!
