This review has nothing to do with the Manchester Best Buy employees but with the chain's purchas protection plans they offer. They used to honor their policy with an easy product exchange in store but now is a total different story. Now, they make you call some place in Mexico and they have a process that I think is a scam. They offer to replace your broken appliance with a comparable one that happens to cost twice what you spend l. That's because according to them they don't make anymore the one you have bought. (How do I know that?) so they issued me a store credit but to replace my appliance I had to spend additional hundreds of dollars. They used to be good! I used to be a frequent shopper at Best Buy but not anymore. The last few times I have been disappointed. I went in to buy a digital antenna. The sales guy recommend one antenna It got it home and it looked like something from Lost in space, the instructions were useless I gave up after half an hour and took it back I also was looking for a new A/C and the sales person gave me hard to have it delivered So I walked out Just went again as i had a $10 card from Best buy . we have given this place a lot of business the last few year. Something has changed at the Manchester store. We have payed a lot of money for equipment they have refused to install or just didn't show up on the day promised. We are considering filing a complaint with the Better business bureau and dispute the charge on our credit card since they refuse to leave our equipment we purchased with us. I bought the new meta glasses from here and they were the wrong ones but I took them out of the store and called my dad to see if they would work he wanted the tinted ones he said no I went to try and return them still sealed and the manager said no after opening the box in front of me and saying there were finger prints on them and where not the ones that they sold me are you fucking kidding me the. Proceeded to talk to customer service on the phone in the parking lot for 2 hours and they told me to go back in the store and talk to the manager. After about 20 minutes of online and In store managers talking to each other the In store manager said that he would just prosess the refund if I hung up on the online one so I did and then he made me wait at the store counter for 15 minutes while he whent in his office and talked to the other employees, came out and said I can't do anything I'm sorry. If you don't want to grab and item and expect a $100 jump in price when you get to the register, I do not recommend shopping here. My experience today at the Manchester Bestbuy was terrible. They engaged in a classic bait and switch pricing scheme. We intended to purchase an item that was listed for $27.99. The item was in the Television section of the store on a spindle that had a tag attached that said $27.99. There were at least five additional items on the spindle of the same make and model. As we went to cash out at the front of the store the same item was on another spindle with the same listed price of $27.99 at the checkout counter. The spindle located near the checkout counter also had several of the items on the spindle listed for the same price. However, when the salesperson rang up the item it came out to $34.99, $37.21 with tax. Due to the fact that we intended to purchase the item for the listed $27.99 and that we again observed the same item at the checkout in the front of the store with the same listed price of $27.99. We assumed that it must have been a mistake by the salesperson when he scanned the item and it returned a different price. The salesperson stated that was the scanned price. We then proceeded to show the salesperson the item on the spindle at the checkout counter with the listed $27.99 price. The salesperson observed the item in question with the listed $27.99 price, but stated that he could not do anything about as it scanned at $34.99. We asked to speak to a manager about this discrepancy in pricing. The manager arrived and identified himself as Edwin. I asked for his last name for clarification so that if needed I could identify the person whom I had spoken to about this issue. The manager who identified himself as Edwin stated that he could not give out his last name. We showed Edwin the item that we had intended to purchase and the location at the checkout counter where the item was listed for $27.99. We also stated to him that it was listed for $27.99 in the Television section of the store where we had initially found the item. Store manager Edwin proceeded to tell us that if we wanted the item, we had to pay whatever it scanned at. We explained to Store manager Edwin that the price wasn't the issue, but the deceptive pricing was the issue. By now several other customers had gathered had begun to make my wife and I feel uncomfortable. We explained that it was not our fault that the item was listed for $27.99 in two separate locations within the store and that they should honor the price that the item was listed for. Store manager Edwin emphatically stated that he did not have to honor anything and that the price was whatever the item scanned at. Due to the fact that several other customers had gathered, and it appeared that Store manager Edwin was implying that we were complaining over a mere $10.00 difference we begin to feel a sense of uneasiness with the circumstances. We stated to Store Manager Edwin that it was not about the money but the principle, that this is a classic bait and switch scheme. We had already paid for the item that rang up for $37.21 but demanded a refund if Store manager Edwin did not want to honor the $27.99 that was on the price tags in two separate locations in the store. Store manager Edwin stated that he would not honor the $27.99 that was on the tags. I will never shop at this Best Buy in Manchester CT. Store # 484 if this is going to be their store practice. I Have been going to this Best Buy for years and have spent thousands and thousands here. I was really shocked today when I went to return a MacBook that i purchased at a different location the day before. The manager Brody refused my return because he said it was at a different store despite what the Best Buy return policy states. Best Buy has the best financing option with 18 months but the installers they hire from third party vendors is HORRIBLE. In total I've purchased 2 ovens, 1 over the range microwave, 2 washing machines and a gas dryer so I have plenty of experience with this store. Just last week the washing machine installers left the washing machine upstairs in my garage instead of bringing it down to the basement and simply walked away saying he could t install it (since he didn't speak English it was through the other delivery guy so I wasn't able to ask questions). Then they left. I called customer service who refused to help me and said I needed to wait 24 hours before calling back because my delivery ticket was "in transit" in their system. I just spent 20 minutes on hold and my son was having surgery the next day. On top of that I had to wait 5 days for delivery. My husband and I went to the store in person that night and we ended up getting refunded installation and haul away because they left the item in the middle of our garage blocking access to our 3 season room instead of literally anywhere else. Needless to say my son and husband lugged it down and hooked it up. I had a washing machine in 15 minutes. The next Monday when Pilot Freight came to take the old one away they commented that we installed it ourselves and laughed. I saved a whopping $3 on a monitor, but the sales rep stated as I was paying--and I quote: "you don't save much but at least it's protected." I went to Best Buy to exchange a phone case for the exact same type, just a different color. The cost of the case was $48 plus tax. I had received it as a gift, I did not have the receipt, the case was in the original sealed box. I was told that they would give me $38 plus tax--because maybe the case was purchased for the sale price--and they would sell me the new preferred color for $48 plus tax. I asked the rather unkempt looking customer service rep, why I should pay an extra $10 for an item he could turn around and put back on the shelf and sell it for $48. He said because that is policy. They had an open box microwave listed as being an excellent condition. I purchased it online. When I got to the store to pick it up, as it turns out the microwave had clearly been used, it was missing all of its hardware including the mounting bracket, and even had some remnants of food left inside the microwave. The manager on the floor was very kind and tried to be helpful, but as it turns out, the best thing he could do to compensate me for the whole mess, including my driving 45 minutes each way to pick up the microwave, was a $20 store credit. It's an absolute joke. Furthermore, I spent couple hours today on chat with people from Best buy trying to get them to make it right and I got nothing out of it, even though one of the customer service reps on chat said that they would send me a coupon to use on a new microwave. I also tried to call the Manchester store after that experience to talk with another manager today, and they said that they could not transfer me to a manager. They said if I wanted to talk to a manager I had to drive back over to the store 45 minutes away. I'm sure someone has had a good experience with this store, but from my perspective it couldn't have gotten a whole lot worse. Best case scenario, the organization is incompetent based upon this... I drove in to the Manchester Connecticut location personally last week instead of ordering online to make it clear that I needed it to have some furniture delivered to my second floor apartment. They said no problem and ordered it. Then I get an email from FedEx that my package has shipped and I know FedEx will not bring it upstairs. I drove into Best Buy for my second trip and let customer service know and they assured me that the delivery would be brought up to the second floor. Sure enough the next day FedEx came dropped off the package on the first floor and took off as expected. My husband and u came a few months ago for phone upgrades and the process ended up taking 4 hours and I almost list my telephone number to the digital ether. We returned a month or so later to get a replacement for a broken screen and dealt with long wait times and bad communication. Came here for a Mother's Day gift! Parking : The location wasn't too busy but still parking was hectic. With the amount of stores and restaurants at the location, parking is not sufficient. Atmosphere : Temperature was comfortable for a chilly day. The lighting was well lit and welcoming! Customer Service : Staff was knowledgeable! Big mistake going to Geek Squad -- made tech consuting appt and arrived on time -- but an amazingly arriogant and rude woman asked me the problem -- I told her my Chromebook was not reading PDF documents all of a sudden -- So she looked at me me and said I made the wrong appt -- that I should have scheduled a training session -- where they would 'try' to teach me how to operate my device. I said I I know know how to operate it -- and she said " if you did - you would know why the PDF isn't working" -- So I needed to make a 'different' 30 min appt. -- and there's NO guarantee on my learning how to use it. Based on many of the reviews posted for this Best Buy location, it is apparent that the customers leaving a review have either never worked for a big box establishment and/or, I would venture to guess, have never worked in a low wage, customer service job before (like retail, coffee shops, fast food, etc). It's really too bad to see such a lowly scored store when this was one of the best Best Buy locations I've been in. Seems well staffed on both my visits in the past week and the next employees promptly greeted me and ensured I was pointed in the right direction. I applaud the General Manager and the Assistant Managers for keeping a clean, well organized store. Clearly the staff cares about their jobs even if they don't always present themselves as overly enthusiastic (I get it, it's hard to always have that magical spark especially when dealing with the public and especially when the public is as ungrateful as many who left reviews here). I worked here, so I have a bias, and a feel for the inside of how things work, but I also shop here a lot, and shop here happily. First off, people have to get off their high horses and admit what it is. It's a big high volume retailer with super low prices, staff with a high turn over, and staff that are mostly paid around minimum wage. As a result, prices are really really low, and there's lots of inventory. As a downside of that, lots of staff members are relatively new and subsequently not as knowledgeable. In order to get the most of Best Buy, you either have to want something very specific and go in and out, or be an "active customer", one who knows a little, researches first, and goes in with a clue, rather than clueless. I always found the most angry customers, were the most ignorant customers. People who wanted their handheld the entire time because they refused to try to learn first. For those who enter and expect the best of everything, perfect staff, perfect prices, and so on...well you're naïve. Research first, have a basic understanding, then engage with the staff in order to get some finer points highlighted by employees, many of the ones who have stuck around are incredibly sharp. As far as inventory problems go, store pick-up specifically and what not, yes, there are issues there. My advice would be to always be paranoid. Make sure they verify it is there several times, and be a bit of a pain about it. Also, if you're being sent from another store because "a nearby store has the item you are looking for", ask how many of the item they have. I wouldn't bother if it's two or less. Best Buy also matches all competitors, including online competitors...which is pretty excellent. For me, that basically eliminated the need to go to Amazon for anything electronic. Now onto the specifics of the Manchester store. The Manchester store has largely the best selection of any of the Best Buys in all of Connecticut. It is one of the largest, if not the largest, and as a result it gets a lot of corporate attention and it can have much more in stock. This is a major plus. The Manchester store also has the Magnolia Room. This is an area for high end television and audio equipment. Some of the brightest staff members in the store work here, and it has some really great high end stuff. Overall it's very in vogue to trash on Best Buy, but for me that's nonsense. Call me biased, but I'd rather not go next door and pay 20% at P.C. Richards just because it's empty and they can subsequently give me more attention. read more

What a headache. Lack of communication is a clear issue in this store- at least in my experience. I stopped by Best Buy last night to pick up a TV that I'd ordered and paid for online, primarily because I could opt for store pickup (they had the one I wanted in stock). So, after getting my receipt and all that jazz from the customer service desk, I was told to pull up my car to the front of the store and someone from the stock room would bring the TV out front. So, I waited in my car as instructed. And waited. And, 15 minutes later, came back into the store to check on things. I was told to wait again- apparently the warehouse dude was coming right out. So, I waited. And, ten minutes later, went back in--- to learn that the item that I successfully ordered for store pickup wasn't even in stock. How did they not know that in the first place? Why did I waste time waiting for half an hour? What??? One word: FAIL. read more

Geek Squad in Best Buy Manchester has given me the best experience. I recently purchased a gaming PC online thru Best Buy. Within a week the fan in my PC started making a weird noise. I took it to the Geek Squad in West Hartford, but they brushed it aside not even looking at the PC saying it's just normal PC sounds. I came to Manchester, and within a minute after hooking up my PC, they heard the sound and said there's something wrong with it. They immediately arranged for it to be returned and replaced. read more

I recently did some of my holiday shopping online via BestBuy.com and was blown away with it. I was looking to get my girlfriend a new printer for her computer, since her old one was a piece of junk. I went into Best Buy and saw the HP that I wanted to get for her. They didn't have any out under the model or anywhere to be seen. The place was mobbed so I didn't feel like finding someone who worked there to ask them. Instead I went home and ordered it through their website. I very easily found the printed I was looking for an selected in store pick up. They must have had 1 in the back because within 20 minutes I got an email back saying it was pulled from the shelf for me and put aside. I went back the next day after work and picked it up, which couldn't have been easier. Just to the right of the door was a big huge pop up tent that was yellow with the Best Buy logo on it and a sign saying it was for in store pick up. The line for the registers was huge and the store was mobbed but no one was waiting for the pick up line. I gave the guy my name and the credit card, he handed me the printed and I was gone within 2 minutes. It could not have been any easier, and I saved probably 20 minutes of waiting at the register.
