Just about the time I think I have my technology figured out, newer, whiz-bang technology comes along. (I'm Buck Rogers, just a coax, parallel printer and RS-232 guy lost in a Bluetooth century.) I recently upgraded a new laptop, only to find that there are no ports to connect my external drives without a dongle. (Who knew what USB Type C was?) The laptop has a micro-SD slot but my camera uses a real SD card I can hold in my fingers instead of that dinky micro card that disappears in dark carpeting, not that I'd know about that or anything. I did some research and found a device that plugs into my USB Type C slot, which is also where the power supply plugs in. The magic box provides two REAL USB slots, a real SD card slot, a dinky SD card slot, and an additional pass-through Type C slot to plug in the power supply. It even has two more slots I'm hardly likely to use, an HDMI port and an RJ-45 for good, old-fashioned wired network access. (Just in case I ever stay at the Bates Motel.) Now, with all that setup, here comes the punchline. Like most magic boxes, it ain't cheap. My usual online vendor had the magic device in stock and I could have it by Friday if I ordered it on Tuesday. Just for grins, I looked online and found out that Best Buy A) had it in stock, B) had it at my local Best Buy store for pickup, and C) it was ten bucks lower priced than my usual vendor. So, I pulled the trigger. During the Covid19 debacle, my Best Buy store has the parking lot laid out for drive-up service. I got a text message that my magic box was ready for pickup. I pulled in and followed the maze to the front door where Derrick greeted me, went back in the store, and returned with the magic box. I did my research on the product that I wanted and I was ready to pull the trigger finally and after looking at Amazon vs Best Buy and I decided that Best Buy would get the sale because I wanted to have it now and not wait for for delivery. As usual Best Buy is a shell of its former self with limited stock in stores, in the good old days you could find what you wanted in any Best Buy but today its ship to store for most of what the web site shows. As usual there is limited store stock so I was directed to this store which is drive but I'm used to that with Best Buy now. I walked in and it looks like any other Best Buy with young people just talking to each other, the employees. The place was kind of empty at 4:30 ish so it was easy to navigate the store. I couldn't find what I was looking for on the shelfs in the logical place where I might find it so I had to get an employee to help me. The young lady was very helpful and went right to where I thought I would find it, it's locked up behind closed doors out of sight so that's why I couldn't grab one and go. The young woman did a great job with helping me and took me right to a register to ring me up instead of waiting in the line up front if there was a line which sometimes there is. I must say that this was one of the better experiences with Best Buy lately because they usually are a let down with not having what I walked in for, I check first now before I stop over. read more

Awful associate interaction! Researched open (like new microwave) on line, mistakenly understood I could pick it up at Men Falls Store. Feb 1 @ 12N. Enter store in my mask. Kind man greets me at door asks my name and calls for associate to meet me in appliances where I expect to purchase microwave. Met by young lady ~25 yrs old. No smile no greeting, first rude words are: "You're going to have to pull that mask up further over your nose for me to help you." I pull it up further. I tell her what I'm looking for. "We don't have that open item in the store - you'll need to order it on line - but I can't do that for you, you'll have to do it" HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I will never shop at Best Buy again. I brought my computer in to get fixed. They suggested I get the maintenance plan for $200.00. After having my computer for a week they gave it back without fixing it. The Geek Squad technician explained they get their training from U-tube and experience and they can't fix Apple computers. I will not be returning to Best Buy read more

Will never be purchasing anything from Best Buy ever again. I dealt with two different locations to get a remote start installed, when it came to my appointment time which I had to drive over an hour for, i was told I did not have an actual appointment. Very disappointed about how things were handled. I would've expected a courtesy call at the bare minimum, to clear things up and tell me I did not have an actual appointment. Not to mention after purchasing a computer at Best Buy they also messed that up as well. I understand things happen but the installation could've been handled in a more appropriate manner. read more

Great service and selection. They have price matching which makes it much better than dealing with Amazon, plus you can get items same day instead of waiting for delivery and hoping that nothing happened to the package. The sales associates and staff are very helpful. read more

I spent $3,000 on TVs, Amazon Alexa, Indoor and outdoor security cameras. The largest TV and cameras needed to be delivered. The TV delivery was rescheduled 4 times and I still haven't received all of my cameras a month later. When I would receive the rescheduling calls, I asked to speak to a manager everytime, but was denied. When I called to schedule an appointment to have my TVs installed, I was on hold for 24 minutes and then the call was disconnected on Best Buy's end. What a joke. read more

Bought a Hisense tv from this Best Buy 7 months ago. TV no longer works. I've been working with Hisense for 3 weeks trying to get help. Called Best Buy to see what they could do and was told managers were not accepting calls...and they never called back - as promised. Do you wonder why big box stores are disappearing? Try to get "customer service" at this store and you'll find the answer. I put "customer service" in quotes because it doesn't actually exist here. I earlier arranged to have a new stereo installed at this location because the store closer to me didn't have the equipment I wanted (that process is a whole other story). When ordering the equipment a few days earlier, I had to give the year and model number of my vehicle to make sure I ordered the correct equipment. I told them what features I wanted (basically, a new unit that would integrate with my car). When I arrived for installation, the installer, Chris P. (he wouldn't tell me his last name) had apparently (based on how he smelled) just finished his second pack of cigarettes of the morning, and he was in a surly mood. He pushed a few things across the counter for me to sign, without looking up. He then asked whether I wanted the new radio to work with my steering wheel controls. I said that I of course wanted that, since that's what car radios do. He then said that would cost another $60. He then commented that since my car was large, he might have to add a $15 cable extention. I commented that both of these issues should have been known to the person I ordered the equipment from, since he specifically entered into the computer the make and model of my car. This met with a silent, go fuck yourself stare from the human ashtray. Resenting the upselling, I left and returned the equipment. The manager to whom I related this story felt really bad, he really, really did, but not so bad that he was interested in making the situation better, by perhaps forcing his installer to stick with the original contract. I am now in the waiting room of an independent installer, who will install a working radio for less than Best Buy would have recieved from me. In the not too distant future, RIP, Best Buy. read more

I'm told this major component basically has no parts or quality warranty either through the manufacturer OR BB and is only covered by the extended warranty which is heavily pushed for drop damage (quality or build defect NEVER mentioned). I was first told "obvious manufacting defect. Your bezel is loose! We can't cover it but Lenovo should. They won't. Black and white if it worked at one point but now doesn't it was mishandled. Taillight warranty on digitizer without extended plan. Back to BB... Was basically told that component has no coverage without an extended warranty. I offered to buy warranty after the fact even though it's a build quality defect and shouldn't have to. (denied) I offered to pay for part if they would install free (denied). They are selling touchscreen products with no manufacturer warranty on the touchscreen portion of the product AND refusing to stand behind them when everyone (EVEN LENOVO) agrees the unit is "under warranty for DEFECTS" * LENOVO OR BB won't give me a part number or part price without sending unit in when I already know it won't be covered. I ordered a HP laptop online for the company I worked for approx 1:00 pm. Utilizing company card. I listed myself as the pickup person. I did all this because the PC was suppose to be "in stock" with no modifications to it. Just take off the shelves and pick up the same day. Three hours later the order is still in progress on the website, while saying still available for same day pickup. So I decided to drive to Best Buy on my way home from work and see if I can pick it up directly. I walked in and employees are just talking to each other. It was easy to navigate the pickup customer service area in the store. The young lady was helpful at first, then she dropped the shoe, the PC is not ready according the computer system, she tried to find status and could not. Stating that I just have to wait for the email to say when it was ready. In addition she informed me that I was not authorized to pick it up or inquire on it as my name was not on the account. Ummm, I was listed as the pickup person. I told her that I filled out the section and produced the order form print off, where she told me to have a good day and walked away. Needless to say I logged in to the business account right then and there to cancel the order. It was really a let down with their online order process with same day pickup. It would have been better if I would have just walked in and bought the same pre-configured item directly off the shelf. read more

Went to the Menomonee Falls Best Buy to investigate pricing on a new computer for my grand kids. I met a young woman who approached me to ask if I needed any help. I told her what I was looking for, and who it was for. She referred me to the Chromebook series of computers, pointing out that these are probably what the kids are using in school. I was aware of this, and that made sense. I looked at the options and price points - which she explained the differences in models, and I selected the one I wanted to purchase. She asked if I needed any accessories, and I did end up adding a wireless mouse. She checked me out in the department without going to the front of the store, and I was on my way. In the parking lot I thought about the possible need for virus protection. I went back into the store and found this same person and asked her what I might need. She assured me that the Chromebook has it's own built in virus protection (much like the MAC computers), and that I wouldn't need to add more. This left me totally satisfied. Then a couple days later, I see the same computer ON SALE at Target for about $70 less. I went back to Best Buy and they honored the adjustment in price, and now I feel I really got a good value in my purchase. And in the end - the grand kids love their new computer. read more

Called this week to ask a specific question to the manager about their price match policy. The person who answered the phone (who I believe was the manager) said, "well what is this regarding?" I explained my question, she answered. Then she said, "so do you really have to talk to a manager?" Fast forward an hour! I went to the store and was told they couldn't price match for me. I asked if I could talk to the manager because I wanted to make them aware that an associate is giving out false information. I would have understood if the manager was like hey sorry, they gave wrong information... or something! The manager would NOT come talk to me. They send the floor associate back by me and said she's in back, she said there's nothing she can do about the price match. That's not customer service. If a customer asks to speak with a manager, the manager should come talk to the customer. I would gladly have bought something else from there as oppose to the item I wanted to price match, but instead I left. Poor management skills! read more
