Not only did they take it back, but they refunded the money, then found one for me close by and put it on order. I'm surprised by all the negative reviews here... or maybe they just cleaned up their act a bit after the negative ones... but i had a great experience there, and i literally met and/or interacted with like 8 people on their staff due to an unusual situation. They weren't all perfectly knowledgeable, but when they weren't, they were nice about it and directed me to someone else who was. I don't remember them all by name, but i guess i'd just congratulate pretty much the entire weekday evening crew at this Best Buy. Bought MacBook Pro 15" the one has 2.8GHz for almost $2,600 for my huge business meeting in urgent and received defective product. The keyboard keys were so loose, like someone used it for months. When I called Best Buy to place an order for me identical product since none store had it in stock for next couple of days but they denied. Making myself embarrassing I had to order downgrade version of Macbook right before my meeting; even though, I needed 2.8GHz for better graphics. Moreover, Best Buy was holding $3,000 on my card for previous defective Mac which I returned before buying new one. Sales sold me a WIRED version telling me it was wireless. 2. There was a Black Friday sale on the version he sold me. But Best Buy REFUSED TO PRICE MATCH even though their sales said they would. Places like this give me more reasons just to order everything online. I walked in to buy two activity trackers and some other gadgets because wanted to check look and feel of the products. Stood there and no one approached me, fine. I asked where to find the section and the guy points finger in air, doesn't speak and looks other way. Then I ask for someone to help me, the guys says one word and goes silent. When you shop here, you realize why big store franchises like this one are losing to Amazon. Only because I needed an item immediately (that Amazon Prime could not deliver same day) for a birthday gift did I make the decision to buy what I needed from BB in Milpitas. I selected the pick-up in store option and was told I would get an email alerting me when it was ready. I never, however, got an email from BB. So, after wondering what my status was, I checked the web, entered my Order # and saw it was ready. When I arrived at BB, although there were two attendants at Customer Service that were unoccupied and chatting with one another, they made me wait several minutes before summoning me over to the desk. They looked up my order and said that one item was not yet ready (despite the web saying it was) and told me to take a seat as I needed to wait another 10-15 minutes before it would actually be ready. This was in the middle of a weekday and the store was pretty much empty so what could possibly take so long? I was incredulous, turned around and walked across the floor over to the shelf where the item was and returned with it 2 minutes later. The same attendant saw me holding the item but did not approach the counter and let me stand there and wait. Finally, she called a colleague on the radio (presumably the one who was going to get my item and would require 15 minutes to do so) and said that "she" had went ahead and retrieved the item. When she saw my face, she corrected herself and said "the customer" had went and got it. Then she proceeded to make me wait 5 more minutes doing lord-knows-what at her screen before she approached me, took the item and then began the process of completing the transaction at what can only be described as a glacial pace, all while sporting an attitude that can only be generously described as mild annoyance at having to actually work. The whole process took way longer than it should have. Never again. This is why Amazon is taking over the world. Best Buy Milpitas sucks. read more

Best Buy in McCarthy Ranch has gone down in the last year. Selection of movies, music, and major appliances has dwindled to nothing. The staff acts as if it can't be bothered to answer your questions or look for merchandise. They now also don't give bags for your purchases anymore. The manager actually told me that the County of Santa Clara doesn't use bags anymore, which is a lie. I told them that it was the city of San Jose that doesn't use bags anymore, not Milpitas. This is the Best Buy I frequent most often. Plus side: they price match, the staff is easy to approach, and they are pretty well organized. Downside: McCarthy Ranch is known throughout Milpitas for the terrible smell. (I think it's because it's near a garbage dump or was built over a landfill or something.) Also, Best Buy can very pricey if you are uninformed about high end electronics. Just like at any store, often times sales associates will try to sell you extra things you dont need or may not be fully knowledgeable to the needs of your situation. I always recommend that any consumer at any electronics store be well informed prior to purchasing anything and do not rely on the staff to give you the best deal. read more

I call in to check if they had a washer on the floor and Tommy answered the phone. I have to say, it's been a while since I had such great customer service. He took the time to go and take pictures of the washer I was asking about and went out of his way to text them to me. He even called me back to discuss about it. The 5 stars are specifically for Adrian in customer service. Right after making our, what we thought was a "well-informed" decision on an external battery charger that would work with our GoPro Fusion, I had an uneasy feeling and decided to open it in the car while we were still in the parking lot. My feelings were confirmed when I found out that the battery was completely different from what the Fusion requires. A little embarrassed, we went back in and were referred to customer service. We explained to Adrian about how we spoke to two different employees working in the tech department prior to purchasing it, and both people told us that they were sure it was compatible with the GoPro Fusion (I made sure to ask a second employee since the box didn't specifically say Fusion, and went with what they said since I thought they would have been better knowledgeable about their products). Adrian responded empathetically and professionally, addressing all of my additional concerns and questions regarding my Best Buy Rewards certificates and promotions. I really appreciated that he took his time helping me get what I would have gotten if I were properly informed about the correct product in the first place. He also made sure that I understood exactly what he was trying to say, and was patient when I was trying to explain to him exactly what I meant to say. Thank you to him for not getting annoyed when we came back into the store for a third time to get confirmation on what we agreed on. He deserves a raise and/or a promotion! read more

Stood in line for 30 minutes and they tell me I am not the priority while 5other employees stand by idling. Absolutely not acceptable! First, this review is for all Best Buy's, not just the one in Milpitas. My son purchased a Razor laptop (yeah, I know...mistake #1) at BB and also got the Geek Squad warranty (yep...mistake #2) without reading what that actually covers (mistake #3). His charger broke and he needed a new one. Went to BB in Burbank near his college. That was a mess. First, they told him to go to Fry's and buy one, as they didn't have it in stock. They couldn't even find his coverage...apparently they don't have the ability to look up that info by his name. Anyway, he buys a charger that Fry's says will work, it doesn't, he goes back to BB. They do finally confirm that he does have the coverage and his charger is covered. BB tells him he has to purchase the charger from Razor online, then submit the receipt and BB will reimburse him. He comes home for the summer, goes to BB in Milpitas and they say they can't (won't?) do the refund, as he should've gotten the charger at BB. I called them and explained everything and was told how this whole thing should've worked...but didn't. He's had problems with the mousepad and a few other things. After a cursory look, a person at BB tells him it's a software issue. Nothing software related is covered. Who knows if it was explained to him what was and wasn't covered. At any rate, I'm completely done with all BB's. read more

Best Buy is my favorite electronic store. They carry all the best brands and products. I'll come here to do my research on the lastest products and compare prices. I don't usually ask for help from any of the employees when I'm in the store because I pretty much know the basics on all the electronics. I'll do my research online before I go down the Best Buy to see it up in person. I've never had a problem with Best Buy. The store is always clean and organized. They have all the newest products and their store has everything from electronics to furniture to appliances. They have all the car audio brands and models I want and they have a huge selections on televisions. I haven't had any problems with customer service, the cashier has been always nice to me. read more

One star only because you can't give negatives. This is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever encountered in an electronics store. You wouldn't believe the managers' responses. My girlfriend bought a HP Touchsmart PC, which had constant blue screens. We sent it back, and they couldn't fix it so allowed us to choose another one. This one then had a hard drive failure. We sent it back and they confirmed, and replaced the hard drive. Then, the computer had another hardware failure. They tried to tell us it was a virus, and being in IT myself, I already ran diagnostics, and it was not. They also tried to charge us $200 to fix the "virus". They later admitted it was another hardware problem. We picked up the computer with no repairs having been made. After filing a complaint with the BBB (Best Buy has not responded to even the BBB after the multiple attempts now), and sending a threatening letter to the GM, he responded then asking us to bring it back again. We did reluctantly, and they found a hardware problem just as I told them. This was the fourth failure now since our initial purchase, and each time you bring it back, they have to "send it to the repair facility", which takes 3+ weeks. She uses it for work, and was effectively without a computer for 5 months during the process. They also had sold her a second warranty when the first one had not expired. This kind of abusive sales already resulted in a settlement from Best Buy in a class action suit in Florida. When we asked for store credit or a refund, they refused because she had bought the service plan with it, and they were following their 3 week process for servicing it. Also, when I told them I was filing a complaint with the BBB or taking it to small claims court, the managers told me literally, "do what you want, it doesn't really matter". There was a middle-eastern/hispanic "manager" there with a shaved head that was an absolute punk. The GM, Jeremy Swanson, wouldn't even leave his office to come see to the situation. He ignored phone calls. An assistant manager, Patrick, truly thinks they have gone "above and beyond" in providing customer service, despite the fact that the American military overthrew a foreign dictator in less time than they took to respond (and still haven't) to the fact that we have been without use of a product we paid for, for 5 months. No wonder Best Buy is failing. Over a $1000 computer, they lost 2 family's business that spend tens of thousands on electronics. And now they have to pay attorneys to deal with their failures. We won't even buy a CD from Best Buy now. This location in particular is utter trash, and the management is incompetent. read more

On both occasions (no exaggeration) there have been nobody in either the Magnolia or general TV department working even though several people walking around shopping.
