I am congratulating Ms. Shannon for converting a half star review into a five star review. It's amazing how one employee can change an entire experience! DECEPTION* I walked into Best Buy and noticed something different. A security guard grew me and asked how he might help me, I told him I was looking for a console game controller. He told me to go to the Television section. I'm thinking weird and odd. I specified again what I was looking for. He said I know, with full confidence and concluded with, they will coordinate with the gaming section and get you what you need. That quiet hesitation and umm told me he was blowing smoke. I can elaborate more on that but I'll curtail the details to advance to the next stage of this visit. TELEVISION SECTION* I am asking the same question about a controller. He says that's in gaming, I don't know why they would send you here. He pointed to the gaming section. I guess that coordination of the two sections is not going to happen. I told him that the security guard sent me here. The associate said, he's a new employee. I am tickled at this point. THE RIGHT SECTION* I am now looking at some controllers and headphones. Several employees walked by. No salutations or assistance offered. I was there for about 10 to 15 minutes. Something spectacular had just occured, a star employee came out of nowhere and ask if I needed assistance. It's amazing how other employees walked away from work, while at work, but Ms. Shannon stepped to the plate and strategicly converted this 1 star review into a 5 star review. Ms. SHANNON IS AMAZING. She help me pick out what I needed escorted me to the cash register, gave me her pitch on everything pertaining to warranties, membership, returns, credit cards, and more. Ms. SHANNON deserve recognition from the highest level. She did not avoid work, she faced the call of duty from beginning to the end of our interaction. I received a great value at a reasonable price and Ms. Shannon made me a happy customer and Ms. Shannon does possess the skills needed to retain customers. Service, I spent 45 minutes looking at computers in all that time not one sales person approached me to assist finally decided to leave on my way out there was an employee (later found out he's a mgr I told him I was disappointed I was there 45 minutes without seeing a sales man he said well I've been here,I said really don't you approach a customer to see if you could help? He said if I needed help I should of come to the front he was there . I asked his name he said Eddie and he was one of the managers . I told him I was going to another store where they service customers.His attitude was ok ! I just helped my pops purchased a new Macbook from Best Buy. They have an amazing sale going on right now and I was able to help him save $400 on a spec'd out laptop. I rarely ever see sales on Macbooks but Best Buy is offer anywhere from 200-400 off... how cool is that?! I believe today was the last day of the sale but definitely check out their website from now through Cyber Monday, in case you're looking for some awesome Apple deals! I loved that they offered local pickup or free shipping. We elected for free pickup from the Valley Stream location and they had it waiting for us at the counter. I usually don't go to Best Buy, but I wanted to ask a question about an iPhone. Mistake I made coming in here. I noticed employees hanging around chatting. No one asked if you needed assistance, so I walked around at first went to counter to ask about an IPhone I have. The employee I asked for help was coming from a different section of the store and showed me where to go. My family and I had a great experience in the TV department at the Green Acres Mall Best Buy thanks to Dre (LG representative) and Lokin (sales advisor). Both of them went above and beyond to help me choose the right TV for my living room. They took their time to explain the differences between models, answer all of my questions, and make sure I understood the features before making a decision. I never felt rushed, and I really appreciated how knowledgeable and patient they were. Because of the excellent service I received, I plan to return at a later time this year to take advantage of a good deal on the TV we discussed. If I could give 0 stars I would. Bought my new computer in Baldwin, NY Justin was pleasant and helpful. My computer was available in Valley Stream; All I had to do is show my paid receipt and my ID. When I drive a half hour away wait on line another 20minutes on the line with several cashier's available. I give the cashier my receipt to pick up my computer. Well almost the cashier kept repeating was @did you get an ensil" in which I responded No; the item was bought in a store noT online. The cashier Towman proceeded to insist that i needed an email confirmation, i again told him i have not gotten an email; I have a paid receipt and was instructed to come pick up my item already purchased at your store. Towman continued loudly and very embarrassing continued to say he could not help me. Then a person emerged behind him flailing my computer in his ha ad says "its right here"! I said to Townan you could have taken my receipt confirmed the purchase and given me my paid computer! His answer loud and clear infront of his coworkers and the line of people behind me says"THATS NOT MY JOB!!" At that moment i asked for my money refunded, Towman told me"go back to Baldwin to get my refund" I asked for a "STORE manager" Towman replied "I am the manger" I asked another employee to please call the "store" manager for me and she did. I Finally got my full refund back in the Valley-stream store. The actual Store manager spoke to me and apologized, as he does not condone how his employee treated me the customer in front of his coworkers and other customers.. I returned to the Baldwin store to speak to Justin regarding the trouble I had with my 83 y/0 mother just to pick up a payed Apple computer in store he sent me for. I have been asked to announce the death of Samsung Galaxy J7. She was the daughter of Freeyah (Freedom). Dec 10th 2017-Jan 9th 2018 You gave me joy. Sleep well. Eulogy: I wanted to purchase a Galaxy S8. In my research I came across the J model, same great features with a lesser price tag. Much less. Nice! After careful research I was sold, this is the phone for me. The models I saw on Amazon came with a 32GB but I purchased my baby at this Best Buy from a Samsung rep and theirs only carried 16GB. I was offered their geek squad insurance but I declined because I felt it was too expensive. I spent many wonderful hours with my J7, yelping, IG-ing, snapping fun vids and pics, I was in love. Fast forward a few weeks and my J7 stops receiving data signal, even blocking me from receiving and making calls/texts. On my phone screen where the data coverage sign used to be was, an ominous circle with a cross going through it. I was still able to log on to the 'net via WiFi. I called my service provider and they informed me all their towers were up and working fine. They instructed me to check that my sim card was still properly inserted as shifting could have caused my issue. I was guided via phone how to remove my sim card. I noticed the phone looked used/abused on the inside and this caused some alarm. I made a mental note. Reinserted sim but my issue continued. The rep suggested I purchase a new sim card as mine may have been damaged. I didn't buy a new sim card that time but I took my phone back to Best Buy. I saw the guy who assisted me when I bought the phone and I asked him if they sell refurbished phones and if so shouldn't customers be informed. My gorsh, twas like I had cursed his mama, he informed me that they don't sell refurbished phones! (Gotdarnnit woman! Are you mad!? His face asked). Cool. He sent me to Khadija in Samsung. She did all she could but my phone still wouldn't work. She removed my sim card and installed one of their test cards annnnd my phone worked AT THAT TIME! She said all I needed was a new sim card. I thanked her profusely. That same night I purchased a new sim at T-Mobile. When it was installed at the shop, my baby WASN'T WORKING. T-Mobile Joe told me he's been seeing this same issue with many unlocked phone since their latest update. I returned to Best Buy the following day and went straight to Khadija. She put me in touch with another Samsung rep. This lady appeared to be a more senior member of staff and she started clicking buttons around. I thought surely, SHE'S gonna be the MVP! She ran similar checks to Khadija's to no avail. At this point I'm starting to wonder if she was just clutching at straws. She she then said to me "your sim tray is damaged, you damaged your sim tray". I replied i'm not a techy and do not usually open phones, however I DID open this one with instructions and yes in my ignorance I may have damaged my sim tray BUT I ONLY opened the tray AFTER MY PHONE STOPPED WORKING, there existed an issue with my sim or tray or whatever prior. She went to a Best Buy rep and on her return she asked, "you didn't get geek insurance did you?". Negative. She said "well there's nothing we could do. If you had insurance we could help but you don't and paying to fix this will cost more than you paid for your phone". I was devastated. I told her my baby wasn't even a month old. I asked, almost in tears (yeah I'm emotional) "so there's nothing you can do to help me?". Her smug arse (excuse my Trini-French) replied "nope, call Samsung if you want" and she turned and walked away. I was dismissed. I packed my dead child-phone and left. Okay, maybe there was nothing you could do but it's your dismissive, condescending attitude that rubbed salt into my wound Ms. Here's some things you could have done; You could have AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF SAMSUNG, offered to call and even send the phone off to YOUR company for me. You could have offered me the opportunity to purchase some sort of late insurance as I was still in the limits of your stupid "holiday return policy". You could have done little, yet just enough, anything to make me feel you still valued my dollar. I own up to any wrongdoing on my part in this whole mess. You just won't willing to work with me at all at all. That ish hurt. Thank you Kahdijah, I know you tried. Though you too were unable to help, your service and letting me down was so kind, so professional. I have always received impeccable service at this branch I'm realizing it's from the Best Buy employees themselves. My boyfriend and I were trying to have a new radio he purchased installed with the free installation that was offered as part of the purchase for Black Friday. They cancelled our appointment not once but TWICE with no explanation, yet still appointments are still available for our day and time--if purchased of course. And trying to call to figure out what's going on--naturally they keep us on hold for a long time then hang up. I pick up a case for a IPad Pro there are three prices in the vicinity of it $39 - $59 none of which turn out to be the price of the case . Which turns out to be $69 . Bought a tv and sound system from this location and paid for the Geek Squad to mount it to my wall. They couldnt do it right away so I waited 2.5 weeks for the service availability...only for them to call me the day of and tell me they had to reschedule for the next day. The next day arrived and they called me while they're supposed to be here and said they would have to push the appointment to the following day at 8am. This is 2 days of rescheduling when this was planned in advance. It is now 11:30am when they were supposed to be here at 8am and I'm still wondering where delivery person is. If you're wondering, I did call the number that I have been communicating with for the past few days. I went to this store to buy a Garmin GPS as the one I owned for over 8 years was starting to act up. I need the GPS because I travel out of state regularly for work, sometimes for 30 days or more, and a GPS is a must. The staff is the worse! They have someone at the door tø make sure you're using a mask and direct you to area you need tø see the product. Long story short, I kept being passed to a different employee at least 3 times. When I was ready to check out, one of the employees that said she was busy, was at the other side of the counter just checking her phone! Nice store, horrible customer service. Last Christmas I wanted to buy a new laptop. The Best Buy in Oceanside did not have the laptop I wanted in stock. They told my mom they had it in Valley Stream and she put it on hold. I bought the laptop in Oceanside and went to pick it up in Valley Stream. I make it the Valley Stream store and I tell the cashier I am here to pick up and give my moms name. She wouldn't give me my laptop that I paid for, bc it was under my moms name. I told her my name matches up with the card I used. She still refused and gave me the worst attitude and actually screamed at me. I asked to speak to a manager and she told me to wait over there like I was a dog or something. I refused. She went to another register and talked crap about me to other customers! I just experienced a nightmare ordering a French Door refrigerator from this store. The delivery team is HORRIBLE.... do yourself a favor and go to Home Depot. I basically ordered a 29.75" wide refrigerator and The delivery team refused to remove the doors and bring the refrigerator to my apartment .The delivery man then gave me a new refrigerator order to request which I did and again the team refused to bring it to my apartment after 2 additional attempts and one month later I finally received my refrigerator. If I hadn't asked and been persistent about my questions being answered they would have continued that way. There was a large inventory of TVs there. I was scheduled for a remote car starter installation today.. I had a 12:45 appointment.. I got there at 12:30. When I got there they informed me that my car needed an extra piece in order for them to finish installing or even install the piece would cost me $6 they would charge me $60 for installation. Not when I bought the remote starter installation was included I told the manager kwanny I will pay for the peace but I will not install it with them he straight out told me that he will not do my installation and refused to work on my car. WORST shopping experience EVER: 1. We waited for fifteen minutes for someone to come over and help us. In that time, several employees walked by and ignored us while others stood behind the register four feet from us, play-fighting and shooting rubber bands at each other and at other employees across some aisles. 2. At checkout, the sales associate who rang us up did not offer the 18 month payment plan or the Geek Squad program. He simply gave us a total without telling us what he was ringing up, and we had to ask if he included the MS Office software. He then stopped us from paying, walked away, and came back with a mouse, which he told us was included and he'd almost forgotten. 3. He handed us the laptop in its box and then a pile of products--he mouse, the anti-virus software and the receipt--with no bag. 4. When we arrived home, we found that the MS Office software was not in the box and was not handed to us. 5. Upon calling the store, I waited on hold for ten minutes. Then someone picked up and immediately disconnected me. 6. Upon calling the store again, I told the salesperson what happened and she transferred me to Computers. After the phone rang ten times, she got back on and asked, "No one's answering?" Then she put the receiver down and I heard her retelling the situation to someone else. 7. The cashier who had rung us up got on the phone and told me that he did not recall ringing up a husband and wife so he did not know what we were talking about. 8. When I asked to speak to a manager, the cashier told me that the manager was the person who had given him the phone to resolve the problem. I insisted I speak with him again, and the cashier went to find him. 9. The manager did not get on the phone for ten minutes so I hung up. 10. My husband and I returned to the store with the laptop and the other items and told the sales people we'd seen when we purchased the computer that we had just called to tell them that we had not received the software. They called the manager over a headset. After five minutes, the manager appeared by walked by and one of the sales people had to run after him to get him to come back to help. 11. After telling the manager what had happened again, he said, "That means the card is somewhere near the register." He didn't apologize for us having to come back and he did not offer us anything more than a possible explanation of what could have happened. Instead, the sales person brought us up to Customer Service to do an exchange with a new product card. 12. The sales person asked a woman behind the counter to help. She said, "I'm working on something," and walked away. The sales person said that no one around the store wants to work as he tried to find someone else to help. 13. The Customer Service woman helped us as quickly as she could and she was the only person who apologized to us for the issue. Had we arrived any earlier in the day, we would have gone back to the store in Westbury. The behavior of the sales staff and the manager was absolutely and outrageously inappropriate and unprofessional. Never again will I shop at this store at any location, and I will advise the people I know to do the same. read more

The customer service is a joke , you asked them a question they are bothered, you approach them they are bothered but let me ask you this...what in the heck do you get paid for?I know the blue shirts and walkie-talkie is cute but you cannot tell me as a customer I can not find an employee who wants to help me. This is strictly for their computer department... This is by far the worst Best Buy I've ever been in. I was looking for a new laptop and waited about 15 minutes in the computer department before I asked for help. There were multiple employees walking around the department talking about various things but none of them were interested on a potential sale. I finally got help and I told the blueshirt that I was looking at various machines and I liked the look and feel of the Samsung the best (this is prior to me going to the Best Buy at Gateway). He immediately told me that I was foolish (cleaned-up) for wanting a Samsung because they tend of overheat and he gets a lot of returns for them. After allowing him to show me three other models that were "better" (two of which I looked up on my smartphone and saw that they were no longer being produced and newer models were being released), I insisted that I get the Samsung. He walked away and 10 minutes later (yes... I waited, I don't know why either when ever neuron was firing telling me to leave), I saw him on the steel stairs (which were right behind him and not being used at the register) looking at boxes. He came down with three boxes and put one down and the register. He again walked away and came back. He told me that he went to the Geek Squad to see if they had any other unopened Samsungs and the only one left in the store was already "optimized" by Geek Squad for an extra $100 on top. Two other customers walked by and thank him for help while he was telling me this. While I like people who multitask, I did not like it as a customer. He asked me if I wanted it, I told him not one that was "optimized" (I used to work for Best Buy waaaaaaaay back when and I know how much of a racket those optimizations are and that the anti-virus software they install sucks) and that if they reverted it I would take it. He didn't check to see if that cold be done, he flatly told me no. I walked out. The wait, coupled with the salesman arrogance, make me less than likely to visit this Best Buy again. I may just for something that I can just grab off the shelf but not if I have to interact with that department's staff. read more

Terrible customer service. I understand the employees don't work on commission but this experience is just ridiculous. I should've listened to just stay home and order online. The workers talked amongst themselves, not sure if they pretended not to see me but even when I asked for help I felt like I was interrupting. Smh The "slackness" continued even at check out. The employee continued his conversation with another worker while handing me my receipt and in between trying to explain details about my bill. The only reason i didn't give one star was b/c I got a great deal on the item (which was sold out but I had to be the one to ask if there were any available online). This is for this best buy in particular not the store as a chain in which I am a big fan. I only came here once for an in store pick up and I had an ok experience. The line was quick but even though I had pre ordered and paid they didn't have my product ready for me so I waited about 15 minutes and then they magically found that it was there. Kind of annoying but I got what I came here for. The magnolia representative was very knowledgeable and very helpful when I picked out another led samsung. read more

NOT the Best, but not the worst. The Good: You're greeted at the door with a smile, and there are recycling bins. Good start, but the good ends here. The Bad: Checking out is a nightmare for anything but a candy bar. If you order online, you might have to wait unless you're really lucky. I ordered online, went to pick up a few days later, and my merch still hadn't been shelved for checkout ---on two SEPARATE occasions!!!! Unbelievably frustrating. Buying online should ensure a streamlined customer experience. Total fail. Who's managing this place? So bad. The Ugly: Box stores are never attractive. Never. Get in, get out. Ordered a Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1 TB but received a different item 850 250 gb inside.Returned item & waited for store supervisor;Mr Frank Reams but instead of checking item just advised to return item,blaming samsung at fault & even implying that i might have switch the item.Rude supervisor,did not even bother to check item,not trying to investigate or possibly explained what had happen.Will not visit this store again & will cancel my bestbuy acct.Will order in Amazon instead... read more
