A Disastrous Experience: Horrendous Service and Dishonesty at the Dry Clean Shop TLDR: the shop is notoriously overpriced, tore and ripped my branded jacket during cleaning, tried to hide the damage, and refused to take any responsibility, please just take your clothes elsewhere, they will take better care of it with less money I recently had the most horrendous encounter at this dry clean shop that left me deeply dissatisfied and utterly outraged. The level of incompetence, dishonesty, and poor customer service I experienced was beyond comprehension. I took in my Balenciaga puffer jacket, a high-end and expensive item, and it was charged $50 for cleaning. It was not only ripped under their care but was handled with complete disregard and the shop's attempts to rectify the situation were abysmal. To begin with, the level of CARELESSNESS displayed by the staff was astonishing. When I received my jacket, I noticed two significant tears that had not been there before (the worker did not tell me, very dishonest of the shop). Upon bringing this to the attention of the lady in charge, she tried to downplay the damage and even attempted to hide it initially. Instead of taking full responsibility for their mistake, the lady had the audacity to shift the blame onto the manufacturer. She nonsensically claimed that the fault lied with the jacket's construction, completely disregarding the fact that her own staff caused the damage. This is the most ridiculous reasoning, just like someone who blames the glass producer for being too weak when they smashed your windows when cleaning your house. Such blatant denial and finger-pointing only highlighted the shop's lack of accountability and their unwillingness to accept responsibility for their actions. It was only when I persisted that she reluctantly admitted that they had torn the jacket during the pressing process. After I returned the jacket, the shop promised to fix the tear they had created. However, their attempts at repairs were nothing short of incompetency. The stitching was poorly done, leaving visible marks and uneven tension on the fabric. Furthermore, the unreasonably high price they charged was simply unjustifiable. A staggering $50 for cleaning a puffer jacket is an outrageous amount, especially considering the terrible condition it was returned in. One would expect top-notch service and exceptional care for such a high fee, but instead, I was met with incompetence, deceit, and a shoddy repair job. To make matters worse, when I requested a refund due to their poor service and the irreparable damage inflicted on my jacket, the shop adamantly refused. They were unwilling to acknowledge their mistakes, compensate for the damages, or provide any sort of resolution to address my dissatisfaction. My experience at this dry clean shop was an absolute nightmare. From ripping my puffer jacket and attempting to conceal the damage, to providing a subpar repair job and refusing to offer a refund, the level of service and integrity demonstrated by the staff was appalling. There was not a single moment that she had apologized for their mistake. I am frankly shocked by her lack of honesty and refusal to take responsibility. Atrocious Service and Ruined LV Shoes at the Incompetent Dry Clean Shop Horrendous service for how overpriced this shop is. Charged me $50 for cleaning a pair of LV trainers that have threads on the surface as part of the design. Upon collecting my shoes, I was appalled to find that the threads, an integral part of the shoes' design, had been haphazardly cut off. There was no communication with regard to this whatsoever by the shop - this was very dishonest of the shop. These were expensive shoes, and I was quite frankly frustrated by the shop's sloppiness and incompetency. The shoes were ruined, and it was evident that no effort had been made to rectify the situation or take responsibility for their careless mistake. I certainly did not get the level of care and service for the notoriously high price charged by the shop. Will NOT go back again. Unfortunately, my experience at this establishment was nothing short of a nightmare, resulting in irreparable damage to my footwear. The great: - woman at the front is so sweet and polite - you get 15% off if you pre-pay - It only cost about $5 (with discount) to get the blazer dry-cleaned. The meh: - You must spend a minimum of $20 to use credit card, which is inconvenient for me because I almost never have cash on me. If you just want your shirts to be cleaned with a good price, BC cleaners is probably not a bad choice. But if you have nice and good quality clothes, stay away! They do not know how to deal with high quality goods. I brought couple sweaters and a wool down coat. The fur collar of my winter coat was terribly damaged and it is impossible to be used again! They tried to hide it when giving back my coat, very dishonest. After I found out, they tried to fix it, but it has not change a thing. Regarding the cleaning quality of my sweaters, just ok, not super. I feel I can use the dry cleaning kit and do it myself. After all, you pay what you get. This may be one of my new favorite places in Evanston - I know plenty of places that offer $1 laundering for shirts but this place - you get a 15% discount if you pre-pay and your dress shirts for dry cleaning (dry cleaning - not laundering) is only $1.05!! Why not just pay 5 cents more to have it dry cleaned! :) They did a fantastic job hemming my favorite dress pants. Go online and you can even print out a coupon for alterations - not only did they alter my wedding dress perfectly, but they also altered three of my bridesmaids' dresses. I have had bad service before, but this is the first time I have ever felt strongly enough to create a yelp profile and post a review. Took a top in for a routine cleaning after wearing it ONCE and when I got it back, there were two stains on it. The women at the counter tried to tell me that because she did not take a picture of "before" and "after" of my shirt, that the stains were obviously my fault and by no fault of hers. I wore this top ONCE and when I brought it in there were no pink "bleach like" stains on it. She told me there was nothing she could do for me because it wasn't a stain, it was now the color of the fabric. Horrible. I will never be using them ever again and neither should any intelligent human being. Ruined a $50 top that I wore once and then asked me "what I would like to do about it" -- I'm sure as hell not giving it back to you! Almost a five-star dry cleaner. They do good work, their prices are reasonable, there's a 10% discount if you pre-pay, and the location is great. But they have NEVER finished my work on time. I patronized B.C. probably a dozen times while I was a Northwestern student, and they were always at least four hours late (Tuesday morning became Tuesday afternoon, etc.) Sometimes a full day. This is my first time going to BC. I won't be going back. I took in 2 shirts and 3 pairs of pants for dry cleaning. The pants were fine, but I received one shirt back with a rip the size of a quarter in the shoulder, and a white shirt with black stains along the side. A 3/5 success rate? Not cool. I never thought a dry cleaner would be the reason I finally wrote a yelp review, but here we are! My partner and I have used this dry cleaner for more than a year, ever since moving to Evanston in 2016. They've always been punctual and effective, but our jobs were fairly standard: routine cleaning of blouses, dresses, suit jackets, and slacks. Then, last Halloween, I wore a beloved white blouse and managed to get permanent marker all over the collar (long story/not the smartest costume idea). It was clearly visible, so I resigned myself to throwing it away. My partner brought the blouse to BC Cleaners just in case there was a chance of saving it. The lady at the front desk admitted that she wasn't sure they could get it out, but that if they were unable to she'd only charge a small fee for the trouble of trying a few different methods of removal. I've never seen such a clothing miracle! The blouse is now in perfect condition and I will keep it far, far away from sharpies in the future. Thank you, BC Cleaners! By the way, I noticed that some have complained about the price, but you must remember that this is an eco-friendly cleaner. Given how terrible dry cleaning is for the environment, I'm personally willing to pay a little more to reduce my negative impact, and I find the price point fair--but this is certainly something to consider when evaluating their pricing. read more

My first review since I moved to Chicago, and unfortunately it has to be a not very highly rated one. I'll keep it simple: DO NOT bring your delicates here such as chiffon or silk. Hands down, each item of that sort I've brought has returned to me shrunk. I've made it a point to tell them to please be careful with these items since ones have shrunk before, but it seems that whatever product or method of cleaning they use ultimately shrinks the clothes (beyond their control?) They do great with linen, cotton, wool, etc. but I'd take your delicates elsewhere (Davis cleaners has proven great with these materials). One plus is that if you pay up front in cash, you get a small discount, but considering I'm having my pricier items ruined I figured it's worth paying the extra dollar or two to have my clothes returned in the same shape and size. read more

But they deserve a medal for saving my wedding dress. I did everything wrong and yet the dress looks brand new. I got something on the dress the day of and tried one of those dryel sticks on the spot (on a silk dress) - big surprise it did nothing for the stain. Well after the honeymoon I took it to another place and they heard the word wedding and suddenly it was going to be a $300 dollar job. Forget that. So I put in in my closet till I could find another place to try. Fast forward TWO YEARS and I finally think, maybe I should get this dress cleaned.
