Other Best Donuts on Beach Blvd

This review covers two donut shops, Best Donuts in Stanton, and Best Donuts in Stanton. The main one I want to address is Best Donuts (https://bit.ly/3cOo6bg), located at 8504 Chapman Ave, near the intersection of Chapman and Dale. This location is family-owned and has been around for more than 13 years. The second Best Donuts (https://bit.ly/3g5AFAS) is located at 12505 Beach Blvd, near the intersection of Beach Blvd and Lampson. This second store is owned by a different owner, looks newer, and has been around at least 12 years. Why do I mention all this? That's because the Yelp entry for the Beach Blvd location has had no reviews since Dec 2017, while the Chapman Ave location (the one you're reading right now) contains lots of reviews from both places. Reviews for the Chapman Ave location should be contained at: https://www.yelp.com/biz/best-donuts-stanton-3 Reviews for the Beach Blvd location should be contained at: https://www.yelp.com/biz/best-donuts-stanton-2 (Note: As I write this, the Beach Blvd location has no reviews since Dec 2017.) The Best Donuts, at Chapman and Dale, is small and looks like its been there a lot of years. Inside, there is a donut counter with a decent number of fresh-looking donut types (https://bit.ly/2LIgLxV). Menus offer croissant and bagel sandwiches (https://bit.ly/3cNKP7n), as well as tamales (https://bit.ly/2ZiBq3K). I ordered a Croissant with Ham, Egg, and Cheese (https://bit.ly/3cMARTP). I was offered additional toppings of jalapeño, lettuce, tomato, onions, and mayonnaise. A nice morning sandwich. For later consumption, I also got a Bear Claw (https://bit.ly/2ymZOpW) and Apple Fritter. Both excellent. They do an excellent job here with virus protection measures. There is a full-length plastic barrier across the back of the store, and both ladies working here were wearing masks as well as plastic face shields. The ladies are very friendly, and other customers seemed to have a nice personal relationship with them. Now onto the second Best Donuts, at Beach Blvd and Lampson. It's a newer store, with slightly more display space. The Croissant with Ham, Egg, and Cheese I had here was good, I would probably order it again. Virus protection efforts at the Beach Blvd location were rather casual. There is only a short sneeze guard near the cash register, and the gal working here wasn't wearing a mask (contrary to current OC safety requirements). ADDENDUM: I discovered that the other Best Donuts on Beach Blvd was listed as "Closed", and consequently didn't show up on Yelp searches. I have requested the Yelp admins to list the other one as "Open". I don't why someone, sometime in the past, reported it as closed, but that was probably the source of confusion between the two stores. (As of 5/21/2020, both stores now appear in a Yelp search.)

    Colombian/French roast, and creamer.

Looking for a near by place that had coffee, they had several roasts to choose from, plenty of creamers. Very friendly and welcoming staff, made sure I was taken care of. The coffee was just the right amount of favor, tried the Colombian and French roast, none of it tasted watered down like some places. If I need a cup of coffee, I will definitely come back.

I stopped to have donuts and coffee at Best Donuts in Stanton. It was becoming a nice sunny day and I needed a little snack. The cashier was nice and friendly. She was very helpful explaining the breakfast type of donuts they had. I ordered and paid on the front counter. Then they called my name when my order was ready. I has; Breakfast egg, cheese and bacon croissant; It was a large, hot and very tasty meal. I had ordered a large coffee in which I added cream & sugar. Delish! For my desert: Raspberry Roll; Two long raspberry rolls that I enjoyed with my hot coffee. I thanked them for allowing me to take some photos. Then I drove off to find my next review. Robert H.

Great place!! Lovely lady who runs the place, real neighborhood feel and great prices! They make some other items besides donuts and they are all really good! I was lucky enough to try some hot wings that were made there and they were magnificent I don't know why yelp wants to take more than this but I guess I love this place. No cap!

I had to pick up some donuts to take to work for a coworker's birthday, so I stopped by here since it was on my way to work. It was early so there were lot's of parking spots and the shop was nearly empty. The cashier was ready to help me when I came in, and when I asked her for a dozen donuts she gave me the option to have her pick them. I let her pick the donuts, which turned out to be a bit of a mistake because she didn't provide me with much variety, but that is my only complaint. Place was clean, donuts were good, and the place took debit/credit card (for an additional 50 cent charge)! I'll come back if I'm picking up donuts for work again, but I will choose the dozen myself.

    Mmmm... Apple fritter

Apple fritter was amazing as was the ham and cheese croissant. Friendly service. Clean inside with a pretty good variety

    Pork tamale - bomb
    Christine L.

I work close by here but never thought to get some breakfast here. The place itself is pretty small with a few seats inside. It was nice and warm inside on a rainy day. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and a medium vanilla cappuccino. To my surprise, they also have tamales! I'm a sucker for a good tamale so of course I got one of each. They have a shredded pork with red salsa and a shredded chicken with green salsa. Let me tell you, these tamales are heavenly. They're not dry at all. The pork one is definitely the front runner. It was so flavorful, I didn't even need more salsa. I did add a dollop of sour cream when I got home, and that completely made it better. The ham and cheese was average. The cappuccino was sweet and delicious.

I got this the first time and it was very dense and didn't taste good. Drinks are just right in sweetness. Get at least 75% here and don't go too low. * Ube Matcha Latte 4.5/5 - This was tasty, though I wish the ube flavor came across more. It was very understated. I got Osmanthus Mochi Jelly addon and it was yummy, a cross between a grass jelly and mochi texture with a light sweetness. * Mini Breadsticks 5/5 - These were like crispy banh mi. I like that they were protein-packed with pork floss and pate. * Popcorn Chicken 5/5 - Crispy and delicious popcorn chicken. Their spicy level may be a bit high as I ordered mild, but it was more like a medium (maybe it was just the seasonings being concentrated at the top). * Pink Guava Strawberry Tea 5/5 - Very refreshing and sweet drink, hint of guava and strawberry, not strong taste. * Blended Oreo Brulee 5/5 - Creamy, eggy, sweet goodness. It was a real treat. Your mouth is like Oreo-land with bouncy egg custard.

The person helping us was friendly and got our drinks made pretty quickly even with a bit of a line. We got the Double Matcha and the Matcha Einspänner, and both were really well made. The Double Matcha was smooth and rich with a strong matcha flavor that wasn't bitter at all. The Matcha Einspänner was the standout though, that creamy whipped top over the matcha created the perfect balance of rich and refreshing, definitely a unique drink you don't see everywhere. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and everything felt fresh and well made. Great coffee shop overall, and I'll definitely be back to try more off their menu.

I like this location more than others because of the bigger parking lot, more seating options (including an upstairs area and outdoor seating), and I've also received better service here compared to other locations. The place is simply decorated, and it honestly is a solid spot if you're looking to crank out some work or meet with colleagues/friends. It does get pretty crowded so it's better to get an early head start if you can, especially on the weekends. In terms of their drinks, my favorite is the blueberry lavender matcha latte. It's on the sweeter side and has a floral aftertaste, but the flavors mix really well together. I typically get their matcha drinks or teas because I'm not a fan of coffee, but my friends that are coffee fiends are fans of the various coffee drinks here. Compared to other cafes, I feel like the cost of the drinks is standard, but the prepared food and pastries are on the steeper side. Still a great spot, I enjoy coming for the atmosphere and biscuits!

The location has plenty of parking and plenty of seating. There is an outdoor patio, and inside there is a first floor seating area, and a second floor seating area. The interior had high ceilings and modern practical decor. Staff will take your order at the cashier, but they also have a kiosk if you want to avoid human interaction. I was here for a few hours, so I started off with a hot beverage since I saw that they have mug service. I had the hot Churro Latte ($8.15/large) and I was warned it's a bit sweet so staff suggested that I get it less sweet. I appreciated the gesture but maybe that's why I didn't taste too much of the churro flavor. It tasted like a good regular latte but maybe they held back on the caramel and cinnamon to the point I couldn't detect it. Seating is first come first serve. It was actually really busy and difficult to find an ideal spot. Since I was alone I sat at a high top ledge, strategically near an outlet. From what I saw, they had a really good amount of outlets in the indoor seating area. Later on I went back and ordered an iced Blueberry Lavender Matcha with Cold Foam ($9.25/large) and a Deluxe Avocado Toast ($15) which comes with egg, bacon, and herb oil. I like that this location serves the avocado toast with a knife and fork cause it was much needed. It was a bit on the wet side. Maybe I should ask for light herb oil next time. For how much this avocado toast cost, I would have liked more avocado. The avocado was more of a spread, not whole slices of avocado. Still good, just an observation. The blueberry lavender matcha was okay. I could taste the lavender but it was overpowering the matcha and the blueberry was hard to detect at all. Honestly the location and plentiful seatings is what stood out most from this experience. I would consider coming back since I know their products are good from trying their other locations but I wouldn't get the drinks I ordered this time. For how expensive coming here was, I wish I was a little more satisfied.

I saw that they recently switched to a new powder so I wanted to try. They claim to be using Rocky's matcha, but I used Rocky's matcha at home and it tastes nothing like this! My double matcha tasted like pure grass and was very gritty. I'm not even sure what made it a double matcha because there was no matcha cream or anything on top. So I paid $8 for a bland grassy cup of milk. Cuptopia PLEASE go back to your old matcha ***Edit because that response from the owner is wild hahaha I guess the customer service isn't that great. I did not make a single rude comment about your shop or anything even remotely close to ruin anyone's reputation. All I said was that the matcha blend has downgraded because it has. Yelp is here to share honest opinions and that was mine. And obviously I don't know what was said or ordered because I WAS NOT THERE. He just dropped it off and made no mention of matcha cream not being available, either way $8 is way too expensive for a matcha this quality. I never once said I want to do a collab with your shop he was probably just trying to support me and my page because I enjoy making content and run a fun little matcha page. I have actually made a video/post in the past expressing how much I enjoyed your shop and matcha and it's still accessible on my page but probably not after this interaction. Very odd and rude response for a simple review:/ all I said was the old matcha was better....sorry that struck a nerve.
