The Human Bean is a drive-thru coffee chain founded in Oregon in 1988. It operates nearly 190 locations across 25 states. I actually had never heard of it before and was excited to try it. It is conveniently located next to the Shell gas station off the 22E so I got gas and headed to the drive-thru. The barista at the window was very friendly. The shop offers espresso, blended granitas, fruit smoothies, and infused energy drinks, served with a signature chocolate covered espresso bean on top. What a cool concept! I ordered a 12 oz strawberry matcha smoothie $7.25 and a 12 oz iced caramel hazelnut mocha $6.05. However, they forgot to add the strawberry puree to my drink so I ended up with a matcha smoothie, which was fine. It was served with light whipped cream on top, which helped the flavor as it had more of an icee-like taste to it. I probably would not get it again as there is plenty of good matcha elsewhere. The iced caramel hazelnut mocha was pretty good and had a nice aroma to it. I will try other coffee drinks in the future and look forward to trying their frozen hot chocolate. Finally! One in California! Still far from the SGV, but was headed to the OC and saw the sign off the freeway. Hit this place up on the way back. I've always frequented the one in bullhead city, AZ and always wondered if they had one near LA county. Well, here's the closest one! My go to is the frozen hot chocolate! The convenient drive-through makes it super easy to swing by, and the friendliest service ever keeps me coming back. Every drink even comes topped with a delicious chocolate covered espresso bean, such a sweet touch! We tried the Java Chip and Chai Ice Blend, and both were absolutely amazing!! smooth, flavorful, and perfectly made. Easily a 10 out of 10! There were whole tea leaves in my Jasmine green tea! Not just tea dust. Don't want to wait in long line at Starbucks?? Sunday afternoon- zero wait in line. Actually the last two times I've been, there was no wait in the drive through line which makes it easy when you have a toddler in the car.
