We previously had a great experience with WW. However, we needed a window replaced that WW had ordered/installed (still under warranty). The same person who previously came to help us came to take measurements of the window so they could order a replacement. They came by & we never heard from them again. They warned us the replacement could take a few months. A year later (ish), we reached out. They said they need to come by again & get the label from the window. We offered a good time (10 a.m. or later on date x). Now again not responding. I would never use this company again & do not recommrnd them. This unnecessary stress is ridiculous. I'm going to talk to my cc company to see what can be done. I'll also be contacting BBB, etc when I have the wherewithal. Simple job to seal a window sill due to seepage coming from the rain season earlier this year. Everything started out great. We partnered with Alex to help replace several original windows in our old Colonial home. Alex inspected and helped us determine what windows to focus on given we couldn't replace them all. He was honest, knowledgeable and rapid with our bid. We ordered Marvin windows and did have to wait for them to be custom made which we learned was standard. Update 11/20 : Just received a certified letter declaring preliminary notice from Ashby Lumber that Alex has not paid $30k worth of goods due to Ashby Lumber. Avoid at all costs! After we paid the 50% deposit, Alex confirmed the windows for our home would be ready in mid-July. Come July then August, through early September he had one delay and excuse after another why the install needed to be pushed back. Long story short, two months passed where I had to hound him to complete the job - it was a nightmare. I would not recommend this business. read more

I received a very good bid from Alex in October '23 and gave him the deposit in November. For the next 11 months he scheduled installation 6 different times, only to postpone them (on the date he promised installation) due to what he said were problems with the manufacturer. After 11 months he finally decided to cancel the installation and I found out that he HAD NEVER ORDERED THE WINDOWS! Why he scheduled installation for windows he never had is beyond me. I had to threaten to report him to the City and State before his father, Bernardo, the owner of Winning Windows showed up with a check returning my deposit and an apology. Bernardo may be ok to work with (I don't know), but if Alex is involved, stay away. And Bernardo should have intervened much sooner - I had met him earlier when Alex cancelled an installation. read more

We had a lot of choices (colors, wood, etc), and Carol, the owner, provided great advice. The installation process was a good experience. Bernardo Perez is a general contractor and has partnered with Winning Windows for decades. He's extremely knowledgeable and skillful. Our house is 85-years-old and set on a hill. There were challenges because our window openings aren't square, due to shifting. Bernardo and his crew took the time to do a careful, thorough job. I cannot recommend Alex from Winning Windows highly enough - I saw some water damage on the window sill, panicked that we may have mold problems behind the wall, and called a bunch of window companies. Most of them told me that they have 4 window or $4k minimums, they can't come out for 4-6 weeks etc. Alex made time today to come out and look at it, took out the window sill and drywall immediately, and figured out where we had a water leak. He'll be replacing the window when it arrives, and if we ever need more windows work we'll be calling Alex in the future. read more

Recommended by Mix in Montclair who did our custom window coverings (Mix is great!). Cody came out in late December/early January to quote us for a 10 window replacement. Was on time, knowledgeable and got us a quote quickly with both casement and double hung options. We had other companies come in and quote us after and though some were a little lower, we ultimately decided to go with Winning Windows based on the reviews and our interactions with Cody. Upon reaching out to confirm the quote and give Winning Windows our business (note we did not receive any follow up whatsoever since we received the quote), we were informed the quote was no longer valid since the price of the Marvin Integrity Ultrex Windows was increasing 5% in 2 days and they could not come out for the exact measurements to make the order under the old pricing unless we could be home in the next 2-3 hours (we could not as we are both working professionals). They could not accommodate another time because they were very busy doing measurements for the customers they managed to tell about the deadline and price increase. After talking to folks at window showrooms in Berkeley, it turns out the annual price increase timing is known well in advance though the exact increase is not. We were never told about the increase, the deadline, or a drop dead date for the quote (all other quotes explicitly stated they were good for 60, 90 and even 120 days). Being told would have accelerated our decision and not left us sour on this company and left with our second choice for installers. Not happy and they lost our business forever. read more

My decision to work with Winning Windows was 100% based on their reviews. I had windows in two homes replaced with Marvin Clad and Windsor. Now that it's all said and done, I know Carol, Cody and the install team are very easy to get along with and will do what it takes to make the customer happy. I'm writing to give those who are thinking of new windows some general considerations. For our residence, we bought Marvin clad casements with retractable screens and replaced all the windows. We chose not to have the retractable screen on four windows to save on cost and really wish we had just gone all the way because now we don't use those four windows. I highly recommend casement push out windows. My husband and I both didn't want to have to crank a window to open and close it and stayed true to the original with the push out. We can also turn the windows and clean both sides from inside our house! For our rental property, we bought Windsor casements, black on the outside and white on the inside (in case you didn't know that was an option like me). I replaced about half of the windows and if I felt like I could have afforded it, I would have replaced all of them for uniformity, comfort, increase in the value of the home, all that jazz. Carol and Cody are not pushy at all so you'll need to push yourself to do this if you know it's the right thing to do. For weeks and weeks before the install in our home, I looked at windows in homes as I drove by them and realized most homes do not have updated windows. Again, if you can replace them all, do it. In our rental property, for example, I did not replace the two windows in the laundry room but if I had, I'm sure the windows would be a new tool. It's the room with the cat box and heat from the dyer so it makes sense to use the windows in there. When you have old or hard to use windows, you tend to avoid using them or use them minimally and it takes away from the potential of the home and personal comfort. New windows can make the window space seem much larger than it did with the old window too. Surprisingly so. One last thing to consider is how noticeably quiet your home will be with Marvin clad. I can's speak for the others. We live on a busy street and it is so quiet now and a pleasure we will never take for granted. Our bedroom faces the street and I don't even hear the garbage truck. read more

I cannot recommend this business. We placed a very expensive order for multiple windows for our home, then didn't hear back for months and ultimately had to email Winning several times to find out the status of our windows. Then, when the windows were installed, one of the parts was missing. Winning told us they would follow up. Six months later, they still have not. When I contacted them to ask (again), they told me that I should call the vendor directly. There is no sense in hiring this company to be told that you need to wait in the long phone lines to manage their vendors for them. read more

Winning Windows installed all new windows in my house just over a month ago. The process was so painless. The owner, Carol, is a delight to work with. She is smart, direct, clear, and helped me consider all my options for each and every window. This took several conversations after the initial visit, so we were both sure I was getting what I wanted, with both safety and aesthetics in consideration. Her install crew was polite, focused and easy to work with. They cleaned up after themselves and caused the least amount of havoc I could have imagined. While researching window replacements for my house, it became very apparently that the quality of installation matters at least as much as the quality of the windows. I got a few quotes and settled with winning windows because their prices were competitive and the installer got good reviews. I am very glad I went with them. The installers were very professional and clean. On the first day of install they found water damage on the wood frame around one of the old sliding doors. They called me about it and replaced the wood and installed a z frame to prevent water from leaking in again. It took them all afternoon to do it when they didn't have to. I have heard of a lot of horror stories about other installers just installing windows over rotten wood without saying anything. Needless to say I am very glad I went to Carol and winning windows. The windows themselves aren't anything fancy. But like I said, installation is important and they did a great job. I can tell a huge difference in temperature. Updating this to address the comment from the business: To my knowledge I did not yell. I most certainly did not swear. After I asked how I was supposed to get an estimate for all the windows to see if I could afford it and she answered "we only do 6 windows or more.." for the 4th or 5th time, I said "Ok, I get it. You don't want my business. Thanks!" And hung up. No swearing. No yelling. But I guess they need to somehow turn their lack of service into the fault of the potential customer in an effort to save some face on the review. Oh well. Lesson learned. Don't give an honest Yelp review because the business will make something up to try and blame the reviewer. I can't speak to the quality or workmanship, as I couldn't even get an estimate. Called Winning Windows based on the good Yelp reviews, many of which note they had a couple or a few windows done. Though I want to get all the windows in my home replaced, I have no idea what it will cost, so I figured I'd start by getting an estimate on all my bedroom windows (4). My call was answered by "Grace." Grace was polite and friendly, but after a few minutes, she informed me that they currently have a team of 4 window installers, and therefore they are only accepting orders for 6 windows or more. Huh? According to Grace, all installers on the team go to every job, and because it's not cost effective for them to install less than 6 windows when they have 4 people, they won't do anything less. I mentioned that there were Yelp reviews from people who said they had a couple or a few new windows installed, and Grace launched into this explanation about how, depending on the time of year, they sometimes have fewer installers, and when that happens, they'll do a job with fewer windows. Several times she repeated that they are only doing installs of 6 or more. I told her (again), that I was interested in having all my windows replaced depending on cost, but that without an estimate I had no idea whether I could afford it. Her response? You guessed it! "We are only doing jobs with 6 windows or more." So apparently they don't even want to make the effort to find out if I can/will do the entire house. No, that's too much for them. After all the wonderful reviews I have to assume it's gone to their heads and they have decided customer service is no longer necessary. We had all of the original windows in our 1927 Tudor-style house replaced by Winning Windows this spring. The windows recreate the original casement style but with double-paned glass for heat efficiency. The windows also open so that we can have a breeze cool the house on really warm days. We secured 5 different bids for the windows, but Carol's was the most effective, in terms of cost, product (Marvin Windows), and installation; she even secured our building permit for us. Her crew completed the job efficiently - cleaning up the debris, sealing the window casings, and making sure that everything was done properly. A small glitch occurred when the wrong hardware for opening two of the windows was discovered, but those two windows were re-ordered and installed without further problems. In addition to the the casement windows, Carol found great screens for the double-hung windows on the side of our house that allow those windows to be open for air but are secure from any outside access. Very safe and easily opened in case of an inside fire emergency. It was a pleasure to do business with a local firm who stands behind their product and their work! read more
