They are able to get us in within a few days or schedule several months out at a time emergency attention to eye crusty with same or next day Request if you have a white dog who gets goopy eyes that can get sealed shut or infected, if you know then you know this is an important feature. My dogs eyelids have insanely curly fur that will go straight into his eyes if it's not kept closely clipped My dog always seems to be happy to come out of the car and into the salon, which has not always been the case. My dog can be mighty and unpredictable and even aggressive and somehow or other, they are able to give him an experience that he is enthusiastic to come back to again and again They are able to accommodate my desire for the longer fur in the cold and wet months and then a shorter coat for summer. I'm from Los Angeles where it's hard to find groomers who are still willing to work on cats, but best friends has a cat groomer that comes multiple times a week and they have been really great with my older also somewhat aggressive cat getting and keeping him Matt free without a full body, shave in his senior years as he grooms himself less often. New owners are not good to animals . I've been taking my 3 dogs here for years - 2 grooms after the new management - all came back shaking and upset . Cuts were terrible . I have been bringing my dogs here for 10 years driving from North Bend area to Bellevue I have 2 long haired GSD. I have always been pleased with the quality but this last week was an exception. I am attaching a few photos of the clumps of hair I had to cut off AFTER the grooming. Their fees went from $175 for both to $280 and the job was marginal at best. I am not sure but seems there may have been a change in ownership. I regretably will need to find a new groomer. I used to get a full groom with a cute bandana but the employees argued prices with me and I left unhappy. read more

Everyone is very friendly and nice. My only complaint is that everyone arrives at the same time and leaves at the same time. I dropped my dog off at 9 am and by 5 pm, they hadn't started on him. He's 12 years old and weighs 30 lbs. and he sat there all day in a kennel. This is why I am no longer using them. I found another groomer in Kirkland that does one dog at a time. I really needed to bring my pet in to a groomer asap. I have a frenchie and I take him on many walks, but I cannot bathe him bx he is a bit unruly when it comes to bath time. I was able to manage him as a pup but now that he's bigger, it's more of a challenge so I took him in to best friends grooming and they took wonderful care of my pet. This is a great grooming salon in Bellevue for dogs. My dog had a groomer for years and unfortunately, her business closed due to her building being town down for construction of a skyscraper in downtown Bellevue. But I was happy to find Best Friend's Grooming Salon in my city. Located in a business strip off of 140th, it's easy to find and parking is never an issue with the large lot. The space is small inside, as much of it is for grooming the dogs, which you can see since it's an open area. The place is always busy with dogs being groomed. There is a lobby area in the front of the shop, with merchandise for sale, like collars, leashes, shampoos, CBD products, etc... I primarily take my dog to a grooming salon to get her nails trimmed, and I was happy that Best Friend's Grooming Salon does not require an appointment for a nail trim, which is a huge plus for me. Life gets busy, so it's really nice that I can just drop in whenever they're open for my dog to get her nails trimmed. In the times that I've just walked in for a nail trim, I've never had to wait long for a groomer to help my dog. And the process takes no longer than five minutes. Nail trims are $10. Overall, I'm glad to have found Best Friend's Grooming Salon. It's one of the few places in Bellevue where you can take your dog for a nail trim without an appointment, and it's much more affordable than other grooming salons. read more

They downplayed an injury THEY caused to my dog last month which resulted in him having stitches and suffering for 10 days. THEY cut him all the way to the cartilage in his ear. Please avoid this place, like others have mentioned. Extremely unhappy with this place. It cannot take more than 6 hours to groom a medium size dog. I dropped off my dog at 9am and took an early appointment so we can be done early. I called around 1 , was told she'll be done by 2:30, which itself was odd. I was told that my dog was nervous when groomer was giving her a blow dry. I waited till 3 and still no update on my dog. At this point I was just frustrated and decided to go pick her up regardless of done or not. She came out shedding tons of hair all over and looked too eager to get out. I feel displeased with the service and how they handled this whole day. No apologies for bad communication (in terms of setting expectations on pickup) or explanation for the delay (remind you again 6+ hours). It does not take almost a full business day to groom a dog. If you are okay dropping off your furry friend for 5-6 hours for grooming, with very little updates then yes...take your business here or else look into other options. read more

Do not bring your animal here - specifically cats. I arranged for my cat to get groomed (bathed, trimmed, combed) and they returned her completely shaved. We reaffirmed on numerous occasions that we did not want her shaved. I called and asked if they had separate rooms for cats from dogs and they told me there would be no dogs at the time cats were there. We showed up and multiple dogs were there. We had a bad feeling when bringing our cat here and should have just taken her home. Also they charged us $180, which is around 2x as much as we have ever payed for her grooming. Updating this review- 2 stars because they do a great job. HOWEVER, I dropped my Golden Retriever here off at 9:30am for a wash, sanitary trim, and nail trim. Nobody was at the front desk so I waited at the front. 15 minutes later, someone finally came out from the back room. The extremely loud noise coming from the blow dryers in this small room was insane. I didn't think much of it until I saw/realized that this is the same room that they keep all the dogs in cages while they wait for their appointment. They also told me that there were 11 dogs in front of my dog to be groomed before her (even though we had an appointment). Next, the wait time is CRAZY. We had an "appointment" at 9:30am and my husband finally went there around 2pm because he still hadn't gotten a call. I even told them when I dropped her off that she can air dry because she really doesn't like the blow dryer. Once he got there, they told him that they hadn't started on our dog and that it will be another 30 minutes to an hour. So I imagine she was just sitting in a crate for literally hours in the loud room with the blow dryer and other dogs barking/whimpering. I do understand that grooming takes time but why make an appointment weeks out when it's not going to be until HOURS later that you actually start on her? Sorry but I don't want my dog sitting in a crate all day because you over booked. I'm bummed because we have no complaints about the work they do but will probably not come back here. It seems like they really need to stop overbooking. It is really traumatizing for a lot of dogs to be in tight cramped spaces for hours with such loud noises all around (especially the blow dryers). I hope they can work towards the well being of the animals rather than just the profit they make off of them (over $100 for wash, trim, and nail clip). read more

The owner's response seems true to form and in line with the behavior I experienced at the store - lacking in the basics of customer service, unprofessional, and apparently uninformed about dog personality. So let's start with the basics. Our dog is an 16 month old Samoyed - who says Merry Christmas in the attached picture by the way. Scary dog, huh? Samoyeds are among the friendliest dogs, and ours is no exception. To say that he's aggressive, let alone dangerous, is laughable at best, and shows the salon's lack of understanding of breed personality. Our dog, Kody, is indeed social, curious, and not yet as obedient as he will become, for sure. The hundreds of humans and pets he has encountered will tell you this: he's among the friendliest, warmest, most welcoming dogs they ever met - he is an absolute bundle of love and brings joy to every interaction. I delight every time he makes someone's day brighter, which is every day. Kids and adults cannot not pet him, and he rewards them with an exponential amount of love and attention. In fact one aspect of Samoyed personality is that they respond really well to supportive training, very poorly to aggressive or dominant behaviors - they do not become aggressive, rather, they retrench. And yes, he does need a little handling, for sure - you know, things like "sit, and quiet, and good boy", and some treats, something which I know many pet owners will not find unusual. Maybe this salon does. Kody is 55 pounds, not 100. A detail, I guess, but to make Kody sound like an oversized bully and alpha made is the kind of gaslighting some presidential press secretaries would be proud if.. Moving on. He's also unneutered still as we have an agreement with the breeder to not neuter him until he's 2 years old. For this breed, this prevents skeletal and joint problems later on, and allows for the full physical development of the animal. So - how about the fact that his being unneutered at 16 months is a sign of our deep love, respect, and caring for Kody, rather than some sign of pet-owner irresponsibility? Or are love, respect, caring something that is not part of your vocabulary or your duty. As you seemed to indicate in your response? So here is what really happened: Kody was probably active and a bit unruly when we first took him to your store, it's possible and likely, and I am sorry about it. He is not aggressive, does not bite, and is not this monster of a dog that you describe. I would have been more than happy to have a sensible conversation with you. You didn't bring it up after the first visit, you didn't bring it up when we made the first appointment. You didn't bring it up when we made this new appointment. About being late - my wife had called to say that we would be late, and you said OK. You could have said no, you had every possibility to let us know. Then I walk in your store, get the cold shoulder from the very first interaction, as well as uninformed statements about Kody. At that point, my attempts to clarify the real nature of his personality and share the perspective of an owner who spends hours with him every day were actually out of concern for you - I didn't want you to think that you were about to spend two hours with an aggressive and dangerous dog. Which I repeat: Kody is not. What did you do instead? Repeated some unfounded accusatory and prejudiced statements, made me feel as unwelcome as I have ever been in any store anywhere - all the way to me having to ask you - "so are you telling me that you cannot handle Kody" - to which you finally said - "yes". Every aspect of this interaction was as bad as any I remember with any business owner. I am a nice and friendly person, and Kody the friendliest animal you will ever meet. The fact that you managed to create this situation says quite a bit about your unfitness to run this business. You will learn, I hope, and spare future patrons from having this kind of experience. Learn to manage your business, learn customer service, learn good communications, learn respect, practice kindness - and you will learn a successful business. We've been taking our 10 year old golden retriever to this salon for about 10 years. This is the first time she's come home like this. The hair on the ears was cut extremely short and was choppy with bald spots. The paws and rest of the body was similarly choppy. We hadn't even asked for a haircut! I've been taking my Maltese and both Yorkies (one now in doggie heaven) to Best Friends for many years and have not had any problems until the change of ownership. Understanding taking over a new business has its learning curve, I was still patient when the new groomer misunderstood my instructions to trim the fur around my Yorkie's nails for me to apply nail paw-lish later. She cut back the nails so short my Yorkie quicks were still bleeding upon pickup hours later. I brought this to her attention and she took my Yorkie to clean her up without even an apology. Same thing happened to my Maltese upon pickup on a separate occasion, a streak of blood on her white fur was discovered during pickup and she got cleaned up with a nonchalant attitude. Thus, I took a break from Best Friends and tried out a new salon for a few months. Unfortunately, the groomer there unexpectedly quit the salon and I was left without a groomer. Alas, I decided to give Best Friends another chance in hopes they would've worked out any kinks with the time passed. Sadly, they had not. Upon pick up this time recently on Oct. 30th, I noticed they barely groomed my Yorkie's face and the owner said the groomer was wondering about whether or not he should've gone shorter despite having notes from many previous grooms or even calling me to find out. At any rate, they agreed to trim off some more, which I was fine with, albeit annoyed. However, my Maltese wasn't quite ready because according to the owner she had peed, I assume on herself, and they needed to clean her up. It had been 7 hours since I dropped them off so okay, fine. But, when she was finally brought out to me and as I was placing her in her car seat, I noticed a round, red, rash/burn that was entirely fresh on her left shoulder blade. I immediately asked the owner what happened and his first question to me was whether the injury was there before! I couldn't believe that first, they didn't see the bright gash against her white fur, but to also infer that it was pre-existing prior to her groom. He simply took a photo and offered to ask his groomer who was no longer on site since it was near closing time. The groomer, of course, denied seeing any abnormalities and the owner continued to dismiss my concern. He claimed that older dogs (my Maltese is nearly 13 years old) are prone to hotspots and they don't use any heated elements at the salon which could've caused a burn. He then mentioned my Maltese could've had a reaction to the shampoo. In just one spot. Seriously?! I made an virtual inquiry to my vet with a photo of the rash/burn and they were unable to conclusively diagnosis the ailment without seeing it in person. I decided to clean and treat the wound myself at home while monitoring it for a few days. Thankfully, the redness and bumps subsided with the first few applications of healing ointment and didn't require any more medical attention. Upon my own research though, the rash/burn could've been caused by overheated clippers when groomers get too close to the skin and/or prolonged use of the same, dull clippers. While there is no evidence my Maltese was injured in this exact manner, I do know that the groomers use clippers and there is a possibility of heated element damaging skin/fur, which the owner had completely denied. I will not be returning to Best Friends again. Their dismissive demeanor, lack of knowledge and care for dogs, and their own groomers' capabilities are appalling. They refuse to accept any accountability and the quality of service is simply subpar. I can accept that accidents can sometimes happen. However, it's how the situation is resolved that matters most. And, in this case, Best Friends was a total FAIL. read more

Bad first experience. I called 2 weeks in advance to schedule my puppy's first grooming appointment. My dog is a 5 old month cocker spaniel. I dropped him at 9:30am and he was ready at 4:15 PM (!) after I called 3x to check on him. My dog is a puppy, he is small and shouldn't take them more than 1 or 2 hours. I'm not returning. UPDATE after owner's response: No, you never explained why the extra time after I called 3X. Every time I called, your response was "no, he is not ready, call later (no explanation)". When I scheduled the appointment, you guys said he would be ready by 12pm (he is a 5 month old PUPPY). There is no need to hold a puppy from 9:30AM to 4:15PM - as you're probably aware a PUPPY cannot hold pee and poop for the WHOLE day, it's absolutely not healthy but I'm pretty sure you guys don't know or don't care. To be fair, I think the groomer did a great job, but in my opinion the owners can't manage the schedule and offer a bad customer service. Anyways, I hope this review is useful for people looking for a new grooming place. Don't recommend this place and I think the owner's response to my first review wasn't entirely true. I took my dog here on 6/19/20, well in the middle of the COVID-19 distancing measures. Two points jump out therefore- 1.) My dog looks GREAT and seemed very happy with his experience there today and 2.) check-in and check-out procedures were thoughtful and safe. This is the first time my young dog has ever been to the groomer, and I was concerned that he would have a bad experience. When I picked him up he wanted to say goodbye to some of the people there before running out to see me- that says he was well taken care of and felt loved the whole time. His fur is cleaner and shiner and shorter where it should be, his nails are clipped and I've scheduled another appointment for next month. When I checked in this morning they came to the sidewalk to pick him up and asked me to fill out a paper with my info. They called me this afternoon 10 minutes before he was finished. When I picked him up I handed my credit card through a slot, got a slip back the the slot to sign, and then my happy clean dog came through the door to greet me. The owner stepped out to ask about my experience, and I told him it was so darn good that I'd have to compliment and recommend them here. Pro- Great bath and brush out. Looking and smelling amazing. Therefore you get a star and I did leave a tip. Con First and last time taking my pup here . Never had a bath and brush take over 7 hrs. Dropped dog off at 10am , and picked him up at 5:40pm. Gentleman explained the salon doesn't use any heat or blowers or something like that . I can imagine after Covid closures they are crazy busy , but Anyways courtesy call would have been nice. Sooo I showed up at 5:30 he told me he needed five more minutes... I' said okay cool. Great. Went back into my car to wait Next thing you know he's rushing out the door with him , owner thought I was outside waiting , DID NOT put a lead on him. He's chasing and running after my dog, who at this point is HEADED FOR MAIN ROAD. I jump out of my car call for him and he runs directly at me and into the car. You sir, are lucky that I have a dog with good recall skills because this could have gotten really bad... why are you leaving the building without a lead leash!?!?!!! You told me "i thought you were outside, i thought he's run to you" .. UM NO. Regardless if I was standing outside or not , you should never leave the building without lead leash. It's time to look for a new groomer. Since the business was sold, the whole establishment has gone down hill. TERRIBLE customer service, extremely disorganized, and the gal running it has no idea what she's doing. And this is just frustrating. I adored the previous owner and did a great job. Last time my dog has been here, they didn't even clean her glands, as they said they would. This is a horrible business. I went there for cat mail caps in October. They did such a horrible job by gluing the caps to mail bed and the hair. They didn't come off until end of December and when I went there for help she arrogantly told me that I should be happy that it lasted that long. They didn't help me at all and didn't even care. I rarely post reviews, and would never mislead anyone. I also appreciate how difficult it is to be a groomer. I have had Bichons and now a Golden Doodle - and have been paying groomers for 25+ years. I know what to expect. Little nicks happens. Dogs get nervous. Haircuts are not perfect each time. I'm ok with all of that, but NOT ok with: - not being called back after 2 voicemails and speaking with Astrid directly when I did catch her on the 3rd try when she said she'd call me back after discussing with her manager ... all I asked for was if we can come in for a touch up so they can actually finish what they did not get to do right the first time - keeping my dog for 8 hours (from 9-5) and returning her looking like she was run through a dull clipping machine over her body, with tufts everywhere and paws that looks like they were not touched at all - being casually told that I was told about her back legs causing her trouble when I picked her up - when my girl could NOT STAND up on her hind legs the evening she came home after her full day at their place ( I wrote it off to just being sore from a full day of standing or being crated to dry (she hates the real dryers), because I really do give the benefit of the doubt to the groomer) When I picked her up at 5pm, Astrid and I spoke for 15 minutes about what can be done better next time, but I didn't see how back the haircut was (since my son took our girl into the car right away, while I chatted with Astrid about next time) and I trusted Astrid meant well at the time, but 2 weeks later and not a peep from them after I spent $165 and my sweet doggie spent 8 hours in their place is just not ok!!!! ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS CALL ME, EITHER DURING THE 8 HOUR DISASTEROUS GROOMING DAY IF MY DOGGIE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE, TOO NERVOUS, OR IN DANGER OF INJURY....
