    The restaurant

I like it. It's not a big restaurant and I like that and it's relaxing and the food is good. The service is good.

We have eaten here since I was about 9 or 10. I'll be 36 next month. The food has never changed it's delicious and made with love and care. My soul is always happy walking in here. Love you Tom! Service is amazing and the ambience is very relaxed.

When you walk in, it is a small mom and pop type feel. We were greeted by the sweetest older man who was so welcoming. There was also a lady working as well. We were treated like queens, literally! The man put our plates in front of us and had the brightest smile the entire time!! we started with the spring rolls and they were so delicious and crunchy, they were $1.45 each which was an amazing deal. We ordered the orange chicken with fried rice. The orange chicken had an amazing crunch and was soooo flavorful!!! The rice itself had an odd taste to it, almost a sink water taste. It also was not very fluffy, but it did the job. We also ordered the beef low main, it was very tasty as well. It just lacked a bit of flavor. For the portions and price, an amazing service we will be back!! We spent 37$ before too and got 2 huge plates and a soft drink along with an appetizer.

Honest review myself and partners review: I haven't been here since I was a kid , However I gave it a go the prices alright.. My review : I got the sesame chicken, 4.5/10 , The chicken was mid lacked taste and the sesame seeds were sprinkled in one corner. Sides I ordered pork egg roll and small egg drop soup, The pork egg roll 5/10 was very cold and tasted off egg drop soup 7/10 was cold and had no taste however compared it to dragon express , Dragon took the W and once I got home was missing my fried rice. Overall rating 3/5 My parters review: General Tao chicken: 4.5 Decent flavor Basicly was a copy and paste from the Sesame chicken side fried rice 3/10 too much bean sprouts and , small egg drop soup 3/10 lacked flavor and too much diced onions and was cold and Egg 10/10 loved it Overall walked into the store it was dead dead but there was a family of 20 sitting in the dining room Once I walked in no music dead silence and the whole family stared at me once I locked eyes with owner or greeter he said pick up or dine in I said pick up then stared at my order with my name on it overall it was a way different experience then from what I remember years years ago.

Favorite Chinese food spot in AZ. Love taking my family there for the lunch specials. 10 out of the 10 here at Tom's.

For years I have driven 25 minutes for takeout and never regretted it. High decor -No, limited selections -No, quiet -No, great food -Absolutely, incredibly friendly and pleasant staff -100%. Our typical order is a large General Chicken with extra sauce and Malaysian fun chow. The general chicken is perfectly breaded, deliciously flavored, slight bite and an uncious taste making you want more. The Malaysian fun chow has wok fried wide rice noodles with a hint of char, shrimp, bean sprouts, onions, veggies and a light but savory taste. Another home run! Don't let the exterior or inside decor persuade your judgement. Hands down the staff is second to none and the food is fabulous. Asian Cafe Express is an incredible value for the food quality and portion size. Trust me, if you give them a shot, you will also be ordering here for years. To the staff, fabulous job and thanks!

A Mesa Asian District Gem Worth Seeking Out…read more Asian Cafe Express is a lovely strip mall gem near H-Mart in Mesa's Asian District, and after 21 years in business, it clearly has a loyal following for good reason. We brought in a fresh lobster from H-Mart to try their "bring your own seafood" cooking option and chose the garlic onion stir fry preparation. It's $14.99 for anything under 2 lbs and $7.50/lbs for anything over. It came out excellent, served over crispy egg noodles with classic Asian flavors and plenty of wok-fired goodness. We also enjoyed the Peking pork ribs, which were deboned, tasty, and slightly sweet; the stir-fried green beans, which were fresh and well prepared; and the garlic spicy chicken wings, which were especially flavorful and highly recommended. The red bean drinks were traditional and satisfying, with soft, nicely soaked mung beans and no milk. Service was friendly, efficient, and personal, handled by a couple of ladies who clearly know the restaurant and their customers well. While we were there, plenty of regulars came in for takeout and several tables were happily dining in. Overall, we really enjoyed Asian Cafe Express and were surprised we had not stopped in sooner. Highly recommend, especially for the "bring your own seafood" cooking option and the garlic spicy wings. We will definitely be back.

The spicy is mild overall with a light chili spice on initial bite. It fades, so the dipping sauce was nice to have with it. The Xiao Long Bao were the winners of thee meal and would be why I go back. Easy to eat and tasty. I only wish the soup inside was a bit hotter. The Chicken Sheng Jian Bao was good, but the breading a little thicker than I personally like. This felt more like a dessert with the sesame bottom. Good taste, just heavy. Felt like we were rushed a bit and we're asked several times if we were done. There were empty tables, so that knocked it from the higher 3.5 side to the lower. Yelp is a flat star rating.

Passed it twice but finally found it tucked between a McDonalds and a vacant adjacent business. Once we found it there were plenty of open spaces in the lot just south of the restaurant. Atmosphere 4/5 Curb appeal left a low initial impression as the business pads in the complex are a bit dated. Inside, the dining room was clean and not busy at all. Most of the business while here was call in pick up orders. Service 5/5 Given we were the only customers in the dining room we essentially enjoyed private service which was friendly, prompt. Food 5/5 Dim Sum is run by a family and serves Cantonese style food which is different than other regional Chinese dishes. Variety is a beautiful thing. Our order was a sampling of dishes to get an idea of what the food was like. Ordered steamed pork dumplings. Beef brisket and tendon soup. BBQ pork fried rice. Singapore Chow fun. Everything was delicious, my favorite was the brisket soup. To die for flavor backflipping good. My second favorite was their pork dumplings then the fried rice.
