Food is amazing. This is my go-to spot for fish trays and Chongqing chicken (highly recommended). I usually get the fish fillets, but they also offer the whole fish style. There are also add-ons for the fish tray. We usually get beef, fried potatoes, and noodles, and depending on how many people we go with, we might add more. There are about 5-6 different flavors to choose from and different spice levels as well. We usually get mild with their house special flavor. It is so good!! Service can be a little tricky. The couple who usually works there are really good, but once in a while I see some subs helping out, and they can be slower and require a little more patience. Still, it definitely doesn't stop us from coming back for more fish and chicken. I would highly recommend coming here with friends and family. The portions are decent, the price is great, and it usually costs about $20-30 per person to get completely stuffed. read more

Quaint mom and pop style restaurant with serious cooking! In a surprising sea of szechuan restaurants, was refreshing to have this restaurant showcase hunan cuisine. Hunan spicy pork had a nice kick and really good black bean flavor. I could eat this every day! Beef rolls are as good as I would find in SGV. Surprised to find good version of this in Phoenix. Def will get again. Braised pork belly is the star of this review. Idk a better place to get this classic dish on Phoenix but they have it here and execution is on point. The owner changed recently and we like to get the fish hot pot here. It's nice because the fish fillets are boneless so it takes less work to eat! We also like their spicy chicken (chongqing chicken) here. It is super crispy and flavorful with a hint of spice. I tried this place for the first time last night 08/15/25 and it was delicious. I ordered my food right before they closed at 11:45pm and the staff were so kind and attentive. Apparently, the crawfish noodles aren't an actual menu item but I saw them on Yelp and had to try them. The inside of the restaurant is a little warm, but what place isn't this time of year? The food came out hot and ready to go. The flavors were great, I'm just a little picky when it comes to using jarred minced garlic. I hate that stuff and it's used in abundance here. Still, that's a me thing and now I know better for my next order. The dish also wasn't as spicy as I was expecting. More sweet than anything. Still, it was unique and I loved it. The house chow mein has incredible flavor, but next time I will probably just do the beef since that's the protein that really brought out the taste. The shrimp is very bland and laughably small, but it didn't take anything away from the meal. How had I not dined at Tang Garden before? This is the best Chinese restaurant I've found in the Valley so far. The owners are from Hunan Province (YASS!) and the dishes reflect the spicy nature of the region. From the Chongqing Spicy Chicken (重庆辣子鸡) to the spicy green beans (干煸四季豆）everything was heavenly. For starters, the steamed pork dumplings (always order steamed when you have the choice over fried) and the scallion pancakes were also legit. There is so much more on the menu that I have yet to try which means that I will be back! All of the other diners in the restaurant were Chinese, which says something about the authenticity of the menu (hey, I lived in China for a long time, too!). The owners were friendly and there is great energy in the restaurant. Don't be shy to ask for recommendations. They do sell bottled beers, including Tsingtao from China and Sapporo from Japan (didn't spy any baijiu though). In addition to the outstanding food, they have several KTV rooms. The rooms are available for rent by the hour. And yes, you can order their food while you sing your heart out. The song selections are available in both English and Chinese. What a great idea for a company teambuilding event or a celebration like a birthday. All in all, Tang Garden is the real deal. The Hunan-style dishes are a personal favorite, and I'm confident the owner hails from that region given the authentic flavors. Then we'll add toppings like the potato noodles, a choice of meat (we usually get beef or lamb), we also add on soft tofu and mushrooms. We also pick a choice of vegetables too. It's all up to you. You pick what you like to add on. Even though it is additional price for add-ons, but if your feeding a group of 4, you get to add on variety of toppings/ingredients to share. The totally for everything usually is still a decent price with a full belly. Splitting into four people is about $20-$25 a person. Our bill was around $80 for everything. Definitely recommend this place. Support the local. I remember this place had a bigger front of the house area but probably due to Covid they had to size down into one section/building. My rating would've been a 5 Star if the service wasn't so bad. All the food was delicious and steaming hot but i got only my fried rice after 45mins and my ma-po tofu 15 mins later. I waited another 15 mins until I finally got up and asked for my chow mein to go because I had no idea how much longer I'd have to wait for it and I'd already filled up on the other dishes. My waitress comes back about 10 mins later with my chow mein and bill and I got the rest of my food to go as well. I'm really not ever picky about service in a restaurant unless the waiter is being disrespectful or rude but it was really irritating to wait that long for every single dish especially when you see tables that came in after you with bigger orders and get their food before you. Tang is my top ranking Chinese food go to. I am highly allergic to sesame and ginger. So, You can imagine how challenging it is for me to try Chinese cuisine. But the chef here is amazing and I have had zero incidents here. While I had allergic attached in some generic restaurants where neither sesame nor ginger was as central to their cuisine as they are in Chinese food. read more
