So we had an emergency today and my husband looked up the fastest towing company he could get. Unfortunately... these guys popped up. At first, we agreed on $695 from Belmont to San Jose. Honestly, I already thought that was a little high considering we had almost the same issue 2 months ago and paid around $620 INCLUDING tip from San Jose to South SF with a different towing company. The original plan was to drop the trailer off on First St. in San Jose, but parking became an issue so we had to bring it to our house instead, which was only about 3.4 miles away from the original drop off. Now let me make this clear -- I don't mind paying extra for extra work. I respect people's time, labor, and business. But somehow the total suddenly became $1500. YES, $1500. First explanation was because they had to call another tow truck to help unload it. But we SPECIFICALLY explained beforehand what kind of trailer it was and what situation we were dealing with. That should've already been factored into the quote before the job even started. Then the owner didn't want to talk to me at first because apparently he was at the hospital with his kid, which I completely understand and sympathize with. But after going back and forth with the other guy, I finally insisted on speaking directly to him before paying anything. And basically the conversation turned into:"Pay me or I'll take your trailer and you'll end up paying more." That's where things started feeling really sketchy. From $1500... then suddenly $1300... then $1200... and finally I told them all I had was $1000 cash. Now they still want another $100 on top of that. So in total I'm paying $1100 for a tow that originally started at $695. Again -- I'm not against paying what's fair. But transparency matters. If there are possible additional fees, say it upfront BEFORE holding someone's property hostage and threatening them with more charges. Emergencies already put people in stressful situations. Money matters, yes. But honesty and transparency matter too. Adding: The owner Tom left our small business a bad review after we shared our experience with his company. Mind you this guy never been to any of our location. Please do better Tom and instead of you going on a war review just focus on how to improve your business. It seems like we are not the only one based on your reviews. We could have been promoted your business but you are sketchy. Very dishonest and disappointing person! This company is a total scam. On Oct 30, 2020, I had an accident and called this company to tow my car to a repair shop which is 4 miles away in Campbell. On the phone I was quoted a $185 charge and driver would arrive in 25 mins. In fact driver did not arrive until 55 mins later, but something much worse was to come. When we arrived at the repair shop, I was told to pay $354 for the 4 mile towing which lasted less than 0.5 hr. I explained that I was quoted $185, but driver said there were additional charges: $49 (service call charge), $45 special equipment charge (driver explained this was for wooden block securing the car on the towing truck, totally bs) and $75 labor charge. This additional charge of $169 was never mentioned when I was quoted on the phone, also not before the driver started the towing. Driver intimidated that he would not drop the car in repair shop unless the $354 payment was made. Finally after some arguing he removed the $49 server call charge and I was still charged $305 for this 4-mile tow, even though I was quoted $185 at the beginning. The driver was even mumbling why I would care since insurance compay would reimburse it anyway. Well I cared because this kind of dirty business fraud would drive up our insurance premium. This company needs to cease to exist. They prey on you when you are in a difficult situation after a car accident. I highly suspect the good reviews are fake ones written by owner's friends. read more

We are convinced that Best San Jose Towing/TM Roadside Assistance broke our transmission during their tow service. We required/asked a tow FROM the 3rd floor garage because we had an idling problem. Instead, Tomer drove our car from the 3rd floor to the street. When our car arrived in our house 25 miles away about 5 hours later, we were informed by Stephen that there seemed to be a transmission problem and the tires are no longer turning. The transmission could no longer get in gear and there is a high pitch grinding sound. We had 2 emails and one phone call with them. We told them that the transmission had no problem going to the San Jose 3rd floor garage that morning. Tomer said that "we have no proof" that the transmission had no problems when they picked it up. We told him that YOU are the PROOF when you drove it down from the 3rd floor to the street. Tomer started to give reasons suited for 5th graders such as "you know, cars are machines and machines breakdown". Also, "maybe it was about to breakdown when I drove it", "I revved the car high to drive the car down to the street, but I am not a mechanic", and other similar nonsensical reasons. We asked them to let the insurance sort this out, but Tomer refused. Filed a small claims court against them. Both Tomer and Stephen have been served. Case # 22 SC 087200 at the Superior Court-Civil Division 191 N. First St. San Jose, CA on June 13, 2022, 1 pm. Transmissions DO NOT breakdown on their own or by itself, while parked on the street. Also, why did it take 5 hours for our car to arrive at our home 25 miles away after the tow truck arrived? We will find out in court. read more

I had a flat tire for my car, I contacted Mercedez road side assistance and they contacted Tony of Best San Jose Towing. Tom from Best San Jose Towing is my HERO! Got caught heading north on HWY 17 during the worst rain storm to hit the bay area in 10 years, hydroplaned on a turn and took miraculously minor damage to my vehicle, and managed to just make it to the next exit and call my insurance. Both my front and rear passenger side bumpers were smashed on the corners from the 180 degree spin, and the front end pinched my tire when I turned right or left (farther than a few degrees). Insurance company was of little help; referred me to three tow companies, none of which would pick me up seeing as I needed to get all the way from Los Gatos to Berkeley. I called around myself and Tom agreed to come out from San Jose to my location. He courtesy called me before he was supposed to arrive to let me know he was delayed by severe traffic and other accidents along the way which I seriously appreciated. Once he arrived on scene and looked over the damage, he mentioned he had previously had similar damage to the front end of that same tow truck and offered to take me to the nearest gas station where he could try to pull out the problem pinched corner with the tow winch like he did for his own truck (for waaaay less $$$ than it would cost for a 62 mile tow). He gave me his assurance that "If we do this and I don't think it's safe when we're done, I won't let you drive it. I'll take you all the way back home." I'm a fix-it-myself-first type of girl (also there was no way in hell I could pay for the tow back home), so I trusted him and BOY DID HE DELIVER! Long story short, meticulously worked on my front end in the pouring rain for two and a half hours, involved me in the process the whole time to make sure I saw & understood everything he was doing, test drove it for me, and turned an absolute nightmare into an empowering and even relieving experience. Even called later to make sure I got home okay. Somebody please give this guy a medal and a key to the city. read more

I told the gentleman(?) that It is way expensive and that I am still shopping around. Tom totally saved the day when my tire blew on the highway. Geico had sent the first tow truck to the wrong city and we had been stranded for hours. Tom was there in 20 minutes, had found the tire and asked the shop to stay open late for me. He took my dead tire and came back with a new one and put it on. My car broke down in the morning on my way to work and I selected Best San Jose Towing company based on the ratings in Yelp reviews. I called them at 8:25 am in the morning and they said they will have the driver call me within 5 minutes and the driver should arrive within 20 minutes. I waited for 10 minutes, no one called and I called them again. Again, they told me the driver will call within 5 minutes and should arrive within 20 minutes. I waited another 10 minutes, the driver finally called and turn up only at 9:20 am. It took almost an hour, if the company were to be honest on the time, I would have called another towing company. The driver loaded my car onto his truck and told be it will cost $295 to tow the car 5 miles to my auto shop. This is more than $100 I paid a year ago through another company. The rating for this towing company should not he as high as reported through Yelp! read more

Out of the middle of now where my PT decided to snap it's timing belt. I was trapped in the fast lane of Coleman in front of the Avaya stadium. I got out of the car and off to the sidewalk but was positive that before the night was done, my PT was going to get clobbered by one of the many cars that didn't seem to see it's hazard lights. I contacted Tom at Best San Jose Towing and they were there in about 25 minutes which for a rush hour time was unbelievable. Tom got my car taken care of and moved off to Mountain View to my repair guy. I didn't even have to go with. He handled the drop off and even delivered my note and keys into the repair guys night drop and called me to let me know it was done. Next morning when I went to my repair guy my car was sitting exactly where I asked him to try to deliver it to. My repair guy waved at me and said "It's the timing belt, I'm already on it." I swear it's like being in the races. You have to have a great pit crew now adays and for me, that means Best San Jose Towing. My car's 10 years old. I called the tow company, told me it was going to be about a 45-minute wait, ended up being 2 hours. Dispatcher quoted me $105. Which I knew I could cover. Considering the two hour wait I didn't think I was being rude . He puts my car on his tow truck & drives 2 miles to my house. He ends up telling me it's going to be $139 for dispatching fee. I didn't have the rest of the money on me and he proceeds to tell me I can get my car the next day at his tow yard. Thank goodness my roommate was home so I borrowed the rest of the money!
