Receipt
Monet R.

I've been coming to this taco truck for a little over a month. Today was the day I had the worst experience. I ordered 2 fajita tacos & 2 chicken tacos. Tacos are $2 each with an additional .50 cent charge for cheese, sour cream, etc. I added cheese & sour cream to all 4 tacos. I was charged $19.08. When I asked the reason for price increase, the guy stated that cheese is now $1 per taco & .75 cents for sour cream. The math is not adding up!! The guy then stated he doesn't care what the price is. This is unprofessional & the menu is truly misleading! The receipt doesn't even match the so called "price increase." Get some better workers & an up to date menu with CURRENT prices.

Stuck between 3-4 for this place. The tacos are good but they always mess up the order. I ask for cheese and pay. Sometimes I get it sometimes I don't. The last time I asked for cheese I got avocado. Which is hilarious because a few times I've asked for avocado and didn't get that. But I definitely got charged.

It was pretty good. Quick, hot and fresh! I would come back again. I recommend getting the corn tortilla.

Burrito

It was taco Tuesday and I just finished a run. I looked on Yelp for tacos nearby and actually open and this food truck came up on the list. Based on the pictures and food, it reminded me of food trucks in California, so I decided to check them out. I'm so glad I did. It was just what I needed. I had the chicken burrito. It was a little greasy but I loved it. They stay open until 2 am and have a variety of menu items. The service was great. Fast and efficient. I saw lots of customers and they seem to stay busy. The ambiance is chill. They are located near other businesses and restaurants so there is a lot of foot traffic but they are in a convenient spot. Parking can be an issue depending on what time of day you go. And there wasn't any place to sit. But that's to be expected as it's a food truck. Go check them out!

Sad Update 7/15: Umm so how did we get here???! I was just sharing with the world how awesome the beans are. I go there today and we kindly ask the guy if he can make sure we get beans in the cup...(because what's happened in the past is they're moving fast and you only end up with a cup of bean soup and no beans) dude tells us WHAT? THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE! Even the other customers standing there are looking at him crazy. So it's impossible to scoop beans from the bottom of the pot??? I'm done. I hope this guy isn't the owner and if he is that's shame because he's only open a couple hours a day with a long line of customers and he's always rude and serves your tacos messy and greasy. For now on, if I see this guy working there I'm not coming, excellent customer service and fresh food from the 2 ladies every time. Only giving three stars for the ladies and excellent food when he's not there.

I had a hard time finding a good local tan truck that was good and reasonable priced. I found this place after going out. Tacos are very good and flavorful, this is now my go to taco truck. If you ask they give you a complimentary small size of beans with your order. It's also a plus that they're open till 2. If your craving a midnight meal come here! There is always a lot of ppl in line and the wait is about 15 min but I don't really mind.

Easy order process and the best salsas. I can't believe they give 3 options. Most places only give one.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. We pulled up to this food truck and, while placing our order, I instantly had the feeling that this crew knew exactly what they were doing. That impression proved to be spot on as soon as I took my first bite. The tacos were fresh, flavorful, and packed with the kind of simple, honest ingredients that make great breakfast tacos so satisfying. No gimmicks, no unnecessary fuss -- just well-executed food that delivers exactly what you're hoping for. The service was efficient, the operation ran smoothly, and it was easy to see why there was a steady stream of customers. Overall, an excellent breakfast taco stop and exactly the kind of local experience I look for when I'm in Houston. Saluti.

Luckily, this spot takes both card and cash! I got the small beef quesadilla, and it was loaded with cheese. The small quesadilla was $5.50, and it was pretty decently sized for a small. They have salsa set out at the counter, so you can pack as much as you like. The red salsa was smoky and SPICY. Very tasty if you like spice I see a lot of great reviews about this place. I would like to try their other tacos and give a more detailed review. I will be back! but for sure the quesadilla was a hit for me

Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!

We ordered: Horchata (small for $3.49), Quesadillas with beef, Quesadillas with chicharron, Gorditas with beef, and Gorditas with chicharron. I don't like cinnamon but the horchata was addicting and it paired so well with the food. My friend got their Melon Agua Fresca and he said it was really refreshing as well. The gorditas were stuffed and they were so delicious, the cheese was melting and the bread was warm and not dry. The Quesadillas were my favorite. You put both the red sauce and the green sauce on it, a lot of lime juice, and it's perfect. I forgot to order cilantro on mine but they do give you it at no extra cost.
