Upon arrival our key wouldn't work, so my hubby had to go back down to the lobby to get another one. We got to our 1st room and it reeked of weed. They were very gracious and found us another room. The 2nd room key wouldn't work, so my hubby had to go back down again. In the 2nd room the bedroom area was clean and looked nice, very spacious, and it had a mirowave and refrigerator which was great to have. The bathroom however was disgusting. The tub had holes on the side that need to be fixed. There were also some type of brown spots all over the shower walls and curtain. The bathroom door was disgustingly filthy also. The outside wasn't too bad, but they had boards hanging with wire from the balcony, very tacky! The walls must be very thin because we got a call from the office that our TV was too loud, and we could barely hear it. Strange! The free breakfast was simple, but good. It had eggs, sausage, toast, waffles, cereal, and danishes. Just not an extremely well kept property. With a few fixes I would have given it a 4. read more

Pleasant 3 day stay 5/5 Room 5/5 King size bed, non smoking, jetted tub, microwave, mini fridge. Upon check-in; no cigarette smell detected, bathrooms sanitized, carpets clean, mini fridge and microwave were wiped down. Didn't see any bugs the whole time I was there. I did see groundskeeper spraying in the afternoon. Overall housekeeping did great. The room didn't feel cramped, plenty storage space, SMART TV, media desk, nightstands had USB plugs to charge our phones, mini fridge perfect size to fit leftovers and pie from Nation's next door. Full breakfast included 5/5 Self serve, kept heated in warming trays, your basic eggs, bacon, shredded potatoes, toaster for bread, build your own waffles! This one takes 5 minutes each waffle and if there's a line then you'll be waiting even more... H/T get there as soon as breakfast starts at 6am! Some guests filled up their plates like there's no tommorow.. smh Grounds 4/5 Outdoor pool nice, They keep outdoors area maintained. Stayed here for a work trip. It was all in all not a great experience. My room was clean enough, but the staff could use some additional training in customer service. The night guy was OK but the day guy actually referred to hotel guests as "these frigging people" when I told him the ice machine was not working! As I was leaving my room to go to work a lovely gentleman spat at me, that went completely insane screaming at me when I objected. Im an every day customer for this place. I brought a lot of business here and I got a room with cash and a cash deposit of $200. They did not want to give me my cash deposit when I checked out on same night that I got the room I had to come all the way back from where I live the next day to get the deposit back so unprofessional that Kunal is the assistant manager, and he was very rude and unprofessional as a manager! I've had excellent experiences with other Best Westerns, but this wasn't one of them. I'm sure this place was lovely when it was built in the 1960s, but it is sadly dated now and in desperate need of a makeover. The young lady ahead of me trying to check in with an obviously fake ID should have been my first clue. And the Canadian geeze taking a bath in the pool! Cons: - Room is outdated, looks like its from the 90s. - TV is old and doesn't allow for smart phone connection. - Mattress is disgusting with multiple burn marks. - Carpet is dirty. - Bathroom is decrepit. Rust and grime on the metal hardware of the tub. Shower curtain rod is broken and makes the actual curtain sag into the tub (the curtain itself is disgusting and also falling apart). The water sprinkler on the ceiling in the bathroom is covered in rust. - There's no hand soap for the sinks. The pumps were empty so I had to buy my own. - The microwave has no light in it. I give my stay here a 1/5, which is generous enough. For the price I paid to stay here, I'm severely disappointed in what was provided. I feel ripped off, never staying here again. Much nicer stay this time than last. We checked in just before midnight, stayed from Mon-Sat and saw no homeless inside the hotel this time; just the odd one or two on the street walking past the hotel, but they didn't bother us. Rooms appear to be updated and the Jacuzzi/shower looked new (not the nasty old yellow plastic ones they used to have). Room appeared clean and had all the usual facilities. We especially appreciated the newer, very quiet PTAC (HVAC). ' Didn't see any ants or roaches in our ground floor room during our stay. Although they provide a "free" cooked breakfast, unfortunately, it's been reduced from what it used to be, with just oatmeal, sausage links and scrambled egg on offer every day. They also have Cheerios, Raisin Bran, Danish Pastries (stale), pre-cooked (probably previously frozen) waffles, whole wheat sliced bread for toast (nice), butter, jams, vanilla yoghurt (with available sprinkles) fruit salad cups, and alternated fresh apples and oranges daily. Coffee (regular and decaf), tea bags, apple juice, passion fruit/mango juice blend and water rounded out the breakfast. This hotel is quite well situated, about 3.5 miles from downtown Concord and the BART (rail transit) station, which goes to Oakland and San Francisco including both international airports. Also nearby is the charming little town of Clayton, with (much larger) Walnut Creek a bit further away. Even so, there are lots of shops, restaurants and take-aways near this hotel, many walkable, and although you get the odd homeless person walking around outside, it's a fairly busy and safe area (we lived nearby for many years, so know the area well). They have a fitness room, but don't have a DIY guest laundry. That said, there is a clean, self-service launderette down the street, where you can pay by coins or by phone app. You can of course get laundry done by the hotel, but that usually costs and arm and a leg. All in all, it's a pretty good choice of hotel for Concord unless you want to scale up in price to the Hilton or Crown Plaza, which are nearer the freeway and Buchanan Field regional airport. Most of the other hotels in Concord are, let's say, "budget" and all that that can entail. We will most likely stay here on our next visit to Concord, due to it being much improved from our last visit a year or so ago. read more

This place is shady as hell. We prepaid our room on booking.com so that we wouldn't have to deal with paying when we got there. As soon as we got there they tried to tell us we hadn't prepaid and that we needed to pay for the room. We showed them the receipt and assured them that we had paid. They then ran the debit card we gave them for the $100 deposit for incidentals. They went ahead the next morning and charged that card, my debit card, for the full price of the room and an additional $100 deposit When I contacted the front desk and asked them why they did that and again emailed proof of prepayment they said they would refund the money. The next morning that they once again charged me for the room. At this point I have paid three times on two different cards and I have paid $100 security deposit. They now tell me that they're not refunding anything because I never paid and that somebody at their hotel had to pay because they shouldn't have refunded me anything. If something's been refunded I haven't received it. I will be escalating this to ownership. They were also very rude and borderline abuse. The dude and I stayed here on 11/10/21 which was a day before Veteran's Day. We usually stay at the Best Western Heritage Inn in Danville, Ca however due to us needing to be close to the dude's family and the funeral home we stayed here. I didn't have the opportunity to go into the lobby as I was pretty exhausted from the long car ride and just wanted to go to the room and freshen up as we were on a time crunch to get to the local funeral home. Anywho, the dude and I were very surprised of how spacious this room was! It was very huge. It seriously had like a kitchenette area with a sink. Vanity area of course had its' own sink right next to the bathroom. The bathroom was very spacious along with the spa like tub they had which was nice. It was very clean, bed was comfortable but the only negative was that the shower water would be ice cold, barely warm, then ice cold and SURPRISE scorching HOT which it was not at all consistent. I was not a fan of the shower experience at all -not enjoyable. Even tried at different times and equaled the same experience. Not the end of the world but not comfortable. They do not have a hot breakfast only cold items like cereal, muffins, yogurt and juices. I did enjoy the greek yogurt they had and the cranberry juice. The location had several eateries nearby which look like stellar places to walk and dine and have a cocktail or two. I didn't have any encounters with staff at all but all of our needs were taken care of. I did forget my princess tooth brush :( which Best Western was so gracious to provide us one free of charge with a small packet of tooth paste (which I did pack everything except my toothbrush -__-). It was a pleasant 3 day and 2 night stay although we were not really at the hotel for most of the time due to the family gatherings, dinners and paying respects to the dude's relatives. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel, clean, yummy snacks for breakfast, we felt safe and large rooms! Overly spacious. Since we have AAA we got a really great rate too! read more

Had a 2 night stay here at the hotel. Here is what I liked and didn't like about it. Liked - Free parking. - Friendly staff. - Large room with pretty comfy beds. - Reasonably priced. - Conveniently located. Tons of restaurants and stores around. Didn't Like - Tv was somewhat blurry. - Shower was weird...we were in a handicapped room, and the drain in the shower was more in the middle, than in the corner. Water seeped out onto the floor in the bathroom. - Curtains. They didn't close all the way. We had to use a hair clip to shut them. They have bright lights right outside the room, so if you are looking for a room with total darkness, this hotel is not your spot. - Hotel was a bit older, and you could tell. I am a Diamond member with Best Western. This has to be the worst one I have stayed in. The carpet in the room is pieced together with electrical tape. The electric sockets are very old and worn in so much that they wont hold plugs. I front desk clerks are not friendly. I felt like I was interrupting them when I was checking in. I was not recognised as a Diamond member, they dont seem to care. We could hear people snoring, and smelled someone smoking weed. The furniture is dated and worn out, especially the beds. Dirty ! First off walking into the room there's hair on the floor in the bathtub. I don't really think they actually clean these rooms! Except for maybe change the sheets. "I hope"! My allergies were acting up so bad which I'm guessing is because they don't vacuum the rooms!!! Second off! I booked through booking first 2 nights no issue. But I extended my stay do to my husband having to work an extra day! And spent 3 hours fighting back and fourth with booking and best western. Gosh, I really lik/ed this place. We have stayed here a lot as we come up to visit family. But now if you arrive earlier than check-in, they want an extra 30 dollars to check in. The food has gone way downhill. Watery oatmeal, pre-frozen waffles (now) that are about 4 inches round, (you can't make your own now), and the ones they have for you are thawed but hard and not palatable (threw ours to the birds outside) and we were just disappointed so much this time around. They told us the manager is non-existent for the premises, to call corporate if we have any questions and the place has just become cold hard and seems to be run by kids (20's and no investment in welcoming your arrival). I am sad about this. But the beds were comfortable still. That counts. read more

I visited Concord several times over the past year and stayed here each time. I had decent stays, nothing special. But I even became a Best Western Rewards Member. A couple of weeks ago I was going to visit the area for dental work and made a reservation. The morning of my reservation I awoke with a slight fever and when it hit 102 I decided to cancel my trip. I called the motel about 9 am and was told it was too late to cancel and I would be charged the full amount. Clearly being a rewards member and a regular customer meant nothing and they would have preferred that I stay and possibly spread Covid or the flu or whatever it was to other guests and staff. Had they offered me a credit for a future stay I would have taken it but instead they simply took my money and possibly rented out the room to someone else and made double. I complained to them and to Best Western corporate but got no response. It seems like a sleazy way to do business and I'm through with Best Western. There are plenty of alternatives. read more

Best Western here in Concord CA has upped their game. Great paint, clean grounds, beautiful pool and the breakfast bar has been amazing every time! The selection of food is really good, tasty and always fresh and hot. The staff are friendly and happy. I will continue to be customer here. Even the people that stay here are nice, friendly and happy. Great coffee too! Juice, oat milk, 1/2 & 1/2 and much more. Thank you for keeping the rooms so clean and well stocked. Also in a great location. As to the concern of homeless people, they are everywhere in every city and town, and sometimes they may go into establishments , just politely as them to leave. The first room smelled so bad of cigarettes we got changed, it smelled fine, but what is that stain on the chair?! I called my credit card to dispute the charges for the room. I checked out, I called best western and I'm calling their customer service in the morning. My brother in another room had brown stains on the pillow when he checked. Funny thing. Don't waste your time or money. What you pay is Not what you get. I stayed in 2 separate rooms, both smelled like someone had been smoking in them. The had hair on the floor and the Doorway. There was chip crumbs in one room. If you need to wash clothes there is no laundry room on site, you have to go up the street to a laundry mat. We've stayed here for 2 trips in the last 2 months. It was ok. No frills. The reason for the poor review is the house keeping staff. They pounded on the door, my husband turned them away. He then put the do not disturb sign on the door. They came back, pounded on the door and then opened the door. Our son was in the shower. We didn't want service and they didn't listen. What is the point of the sign if they don't read it? I went to the front desk to complain and they couldn't careless. Our room didn't have a tub stopper which we had to get from the front desk too. The wifi sucks. Our next trip back to visit family we won't be staying here again. read more

We stayed in at Best Western for an overnight stay over the weekend and I must say the place needed cleaning. As soon as you enter the place, the front door glass has a lot of smudges from hands and looks like someone put their face on it (yes, seems someone put their face on the glass door, gross). Floor tiles in their front desk, sitting area and through the breakfast area are dingy. When we got to our room, the carpet is not vacuumed and found a bottle cap next to the stand in lamp. The bathroom has soap scum and found hair on the tub. The baseboard are full of dust. On the positive side, the staffs are super nice and courteous. Would I recommend, if you're desperate and all other hotels in the area are sold out otherwise stay away. I have stayed in other Best Western and that place is clean. read more

Our stay was nothing short of an absolute nightmare. Upon arrival, we were pleased. Check-in was quick, room was clean. Nothing fancy, as we expected-it IS the Best Western. We needed a place to stay one night after a family party. We returned back around 11pm, after the party. The neighbors that we happened to share an adjoining door with were arguing loudly, their TV blaring. Hoping it would die down, the arguing only progresses, the man then leaves and returns after about 30 mins. Upon his return, they began having sex. Loud, ass spanking and hollering sex. Whatever you do in your room is your business, BUT I did have kids in the room-if it wasn't 3:00AM, we probably would have laughed BUT we had not slept yet at this point due to the noise! After their session, the beast woman starts using the microwave, slamming the door a million times and pressing every button 85 times. TV gets louder and then they start yelling racial slurs. Yeah, dropping N bombs. Loudly. I tried calling the desk twice in hopes to stop the madness but they never answered. Our room phone did have the option to call their room direct, but honestly, these people sounded like absolute savages and I wasn't about to risk our lives over this. At 7am I went to the front desk and explained the situation telling them that none of us slept, not a wink, also stating that we understand that again, what people do in their rooms is to their business and out of the hotel's control-to a certain degree. I'm pretty chill, but this was truly disturbing. The lady at the desk was kind and understanding of my anger and said she'd reach out to management for a resolution. I do feel I'm entitled to some type of credit (monetary! Not a Best Western credit!). I hope to get a follow up call ASAP. In addition to this, there were like 3 parties and tons of people coming in and out of the lot with loud music-I was able to deal with that but just a heads up... Meh Best Western. Decided to live out here for a night because it was a bit cheaper than other parts of the East Bay. The location is okay. Decently safe. I wouldn't call it super safe, but it's not terribly unsafe. Lots of restaurants and businesses around. There is security late at night. Room itself wasn't great. It was somewhat old, but clean for the most part. Bathroom and shower worked fine. Bathroom sink was worn down, but still in working condition. TV was in broken. Was told I was gonna get compensated for it, but they never honored it. Customer service is questionable. The pillows were terrible..They were small and uncomfortable. The bed was sunken in. Breakfast is provided here. It's decent. There was scrambled eggs, cereal, bread, waffles and bacon..but it was not very crispy. Probably wouldn't stay here again read more

I want EVERYONE to know that the main maid as well as the manager are RACIST! I am here with my fiancé and children and feel like we have been treated so wrong because he's black and I'm white. We have been here A LOT due to some circumstances but we are paying customers that have not given them any problems and have respected this place like it was our own! They have NO COMPASSION all they want is for us to leave!! The first few nights we were here I found a piece of a glass pipe (not a weed pipe) on the floor. The reason I found this glass was because I ALWAYS check the floors because my 2 and 4 year old are with us and you never know what's missed by the vacuum. So I took it to the front desk where the main maid Alma said there was no way that was in there because that room was cleaned. So was she trying to say it was mine???....another time we were put into a room where they knew is roach infested. And gave us the room the next day with a discount of 10%. I slept in the truck that night I was so pissed. How do you put you customers with roaches? You know we have spent ALOT of money here and we really like it here because it's close to everything. But I'm really upset with how they have treated my family. They also seem like they are not fair to certain employees. I tried to get a job as a maid but felt that I was told no because I'm not Mexican! They've got a great breakfast and great coffee! But this place could use a BIG UPGRADE!! Update: called BW corp to let them know, they called Grace who denied I ever made the calls for service to the front desk and counter accused me of having two dogs in the room. I don't even own two dogs?! Also because booked though booking dot com she couldn't help me at all past taking my concerns. Called Grace directly 925-686-8807 she stated that dogs were seen in my room but not verified. She asked me who by name I spoke with that night. I don't know I hit zero on the dang phone?! Waiting to hear back from a manager named Roel?! Cigarette burns in sheets, covers, and toilet seat. Non smoking room reeked like a Juarez bar at happy hour. Front desk (rang twenty times) said they could put a desmoker in but it's already Loud as heck withthe contractors partying in the parking lot why would I want more noise in the room!?. Unclean bathrooms-brown flakes in shower which as it turns out drains like old people screw, Slow to not at all! I called the front desk (rang twenty times) and they sent out a geriatric guy who plunged the crap out of, smiled said it drains slow I guess, and walked out. Nobody called me back and I knew then it was gonna be one of those stays. Poor problem solving skills and a clear culture of halfassing their way through a simple problems. My two showers were completed with a an ankle to shin deep bath of lukewarm water backed up from the last twenty years worth of hairballs. Brown flakes were back when I got in the room the next day. Maids can't clean a tub that won't drain! Television was 1980's fuzzy on a 1080 screen. Hurt my eyes so I turned it off. They had no more rooms and all I really needed was a bed so I sucked it up and got jack crap for my 300$ would have been somewhere else if I could have. Are they currently renovating rooms? The walls are extremely thin and we can hear everything. Banging, pounding, doors slamming, toilets flushing , showers. As I sit writing this (at 10 pm) I can clearly hear a full conversation on the walkway outside or from our neighbors in the next room- I'm not sure where it is coming from but it's annoying. I am giving this place 3 stars because the room is large and clean, with a decent size tub with massage jets. We had the king and it was comfortable. They offer a very nice breakfast in the lobby from 6-9. We get zero cell reception inside this hotel. No texts or phone calls could come through. The WiFi is pretty spotty also. Would not have chosen this place based on reviews had we not had to use our corporate lodging account for my husband's work. read more

This review is based off my stay the weekend of 8/10/19 Contrary to what has been said about this place in the past, my experience was quite pleasant. Location: the area itself is pretty mellow and safe. Nothing happen to our car we went out on a A.M. walk the morning of check out and the area was pretty quite and safe. The hotel itself is at average distance from freeway access. Check in and stay: Over all it was a painless check in concierge/front desk attendant was polite and informative. We did encounter some profiling and rudeness late night when our Uber dropped us off out in front. The over night attendant thought we were looking for a room and very weirdly told us to leave from the locked lobby. When we flashed her our room key she had a surprised look on her face & left us alone. The room: Cleanliness id give it about 82% the sheets were clean the room itself was fine the bed was surprisingly comfortable and I did sleep well. The restroom was kinda gross the back of the toilet was dirty and looked like there was split brown liquid toward the back of the seat. A pond removing one of the towels there was a baby roach living underneath it. I didn't complain because realistically, what do you expect when you are paying under $150 a night right? The wall are a bit thin, every time someone walks by the door or coming down the hallways you can definitely hear them. Continental breakfast: is nice, they have a lot more options then your average 1-2 Star hotel. The coffee wasn't terrible and free is always the best taste. In conclusion I'd stay here again it's affordable and decent and pretty central to where I needed to be on this trip up north. If you are staying for a night or two it's fine, just keep in mind you are getting what you paid for. read more

Wow, looking through the other reviews, I'm glad I didn't have bed bugs in our room! We stayed here for two nights as part of a wedding, and all our other relatives were staying here. We did see an earwig bug in the bathroom, and we have mold in the shower and stained towels. There was also a wet spot on the carpet when we checked in. The walls are definitely thin, as we could hear footsteps upstairs very loudly. It's not a Hyatt or a Marriott, but you get what you pay for, and this place is honestly not bad at all. They do a continental breakfast for free every morning (omelettes, sausage gravy, biscuits, bacon, oatmeal, waffle bar), there's free coffee 24/7, and there's a pool and tiny, tiny fitness center (one cable machine, one tread, one bike). You're also only paying about $70/night, so what are you complaining about? The rooms are clean, towels are plenty, and it's super walkable from loads of daily shopping and/or food needs. The place might get super packed with construction workers, but they're friendly and courteous about quiet hours. You could do way worse. read more
