We decided to take a spontaneous trip to Monterey for the night and were lucky to find a last minute king room, at a reasonable price. I always appreciate a well designed hotel bathroom, and this one had some nice features. While the shower was on the smaller side, it was an open stand-up design, which made it functional enough. The real highlight for me was the lighting around the bathroom mirror it created the perfect glow, both for the room and for getting ready. Plus, the mirrored closet doors were a great touch! I often find that hotels skimp on mirrors, but this one definitely didn't, and I loved that! The mini fridge was surprisingly spacious, and the bonus of a microwave was a nice touch. The bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep, and I woke up feeling well rested. One detail I really appreciated was the bed bug protectors, it's always reassuring to see them on hotel beds. Overall I would say it was a solid stay with details that made it enjoyable. I would definitely consider coming back if I find myself back in Monterey. read more

We got a room at the Best Western Park Crest Inn for a great price, for our weekend trip in Monterey. All the attractions and tourist spots we visited were a reasonable driving distance away, and the front desk staff were friendly. Our room was clean and offered basic amenities enough for 2 guests. I'm giving 4 stars as our room was right next to the "Employees Only" area, so throughout the nights, we'd sometimes hear noises from next door. read more

Do not book here! I booked here for my family which include included two small children. They're not accommodating for an earlier check-in even if you wanted to just drop off bags, and once I rode by the hotel I understood why. Hotel does not look anything like the pictures it is rather rundown on the outside, there were sketchy looking individuals going in and out of the facilities. When I mention my concern and said I did not feel comfortable having my small kids there was no communication. When I tried to cancel my reservation and ask for a part of my reservation payment back there was no response nothing they charged my card and I have not heard from them since. On the street there's about five other hotels with the same price that looks 1000 times better facilities,better hospitality and responsiveness. Do not waste your breath. Cleanliness is lacking. Front office staff was very friendly and helpful. I let my 14 month old crawl around the 2 bedroom suite while we unpacked. After 10 minutes, I looked at his feet and they were so dirty! Other than that, hotel is good in a great location and at a reasonable price. read more

We stayed here for a 2-night stay in Monterey for Labor Day weekend. Its more like a large two-story motel. So don't expect spas, gourmet restaurants, gyms, or other luxury amenities. That being said, rooms seem very clean and comfortable, with updated flooring and bedding. The AC and bathroom window were a bit creaky. Otherwise, we had a comfortable stay and our 3yo slept soundly on the Queen Bed both nights. Other nice features * Big, free parking lot with easy access to Monterrey Cannery Row, Pacific Grove, Downtown, etc. * Decent breakfast with hot items, yogurt, fresh fruit, and pastries. Coffee was bold and strong. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. * Plenty of storage space and charging outlets in the room. Reasonably good wifi. * No parking fees Minor downsides * Bathroom had no fan so use the creaky window for ventilation. * Being a motel-like structure, it'll be noisier than the traditional hotel. Rooms are decent. But don't except a good night sleep if you are sleeping on the bottom floor. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything. Was awake most of the night because the upstairs sounded like they were moving furniture. And early in the morning the side room decided to do the same. Breakfast was decent. This is a 3 star place that the great service and excellent free breakfast gives an extra star for. We stayed one night because there was an art show in the area that we were attending. We had a two queen room. The room was neat and tidy. The beds were too firm for my taste but the linens were soft. The bed platform was made of metal and anytime someone accidentally bumped it with anything there was this deep gong sound that was alarming. The motel is an old girl showing her age but it gives you a nostalgic feel. It's been recently refurbished and it looks a tad too modern for her mid-century soul but it looks nice. In the bathroom you could see where damage was repaired and painted over. There was a crack in the bathroom window. There was no fan in the shower/toilet room which was problematic with number two situations. The AC/heater thing was not working properly. We attempted to change the temperature to a higher temp but it did nothing. We slept with additional blankets. The heater did kick on once in the night but only stayed on for less than a minute. The thin walls made it so we could hear our loud talking neighbors, I'm sure they heard my kids. We were in bed early (kids) and drunk people were playing Marco Polo in the pool which was annoying but they left at the appointed time which was 10pm. The pool was heated which was great because my kids can't resist a hotel pool. I swear they would swim in Antarctica if the pool was heated. The driveway to the lower parking area is nerve wracking and was a tight fit for my midsize car, the driveway was STEEP and the turn tight. We parked in the lower lot and at one point my son was running out to the car to grab something and he said people were standing looking into the car touching the door handle. I assume this only occurred because I remotely unlocked it for him and the lurkers were opportunists. The free breakfast was awesome. Great selection and plenty of stuff available but the room had too many tables crammed and it felt cramped and overly stuffy. When we first arrived there was an issue with the tv and the front staff person came over and rectified it immediately. Calls for additional stuff like towels or extra blankets was met with friendly and quick response. They accommodated our early check in request w/o issue. Great value, awesome breakfast, park in the upper lot if your vehicle is big and keep your car door locked. read more

This was a great place for our family of 6 to stay when we visited Monterey. The location is very convenient to all the tourist attractions. We booked a room with 2 king beds, which also included a couch (not a fold out bed). It gave us ent of space for 2 adults, 2 teens and 2 kids to sleep. We all appreciated the way the bathroom area was partitioned from the rest of the room, which provided extra privacy for changing. The heated pool was a big hit for the kids. Visiting in March, the temps only got 60 degrees at most. Having the pool heated meant they could still enjoy it. I loved that it was a saltwater pool (no chlorine) and there was a hot tub. The ambiance around the pool, with fencing, plants, etc was really nice too. Breakfast had a lot of good options, something for everyone read more

Absolutely horrible service on the phone. My family already stayed there last year. This time I called to find out the different costs between a deluxe room and regular room and the guy who answered said I don't know and he doesn't know what I'm talking about and can't see online. I explained it had a price difference online and he said again how would he know. I told him it was Expedia and he said for me to call them in a rude tone because how would he know what a deluxe is. I asked why he was being rude and all I had was a question to see where my family snd kids could stay and if he didnt know its ok, but dont be so rude. He said call the website. I asked to speak to a manager and he said there was none at Sunday 730pm and she would just tell me the same thing. I asked why there wasn't a manager onsite and he communicated he is being recorded on video and insisted he has no tone or feels some type of way and its up to me if I want to spend my money there he isn't making me. My husband tried to ask and he told him he can't look up prices or know the rooms even though he was the only person at the front. Horrible communication and no knowledge of the different prices and different rooms. I'm not going to take the chance to drive hours with my kids and not have enough beds or size room to sleep in for days. 5 stars for the great customer service from Mr. Sterling at the front desk. We were here for spring break and during check in, we found out that there was an issue with the third party booking site and it took us a while to get it fixed but Mr. Sterling was so patient and handled the situation so well. We appreciate how he was also thinking about our kids waiting at the lobby and our boys loved him for that! We also met Esmeralda on our last day, I believe she's the General Manager and she was very pleasant as well. Got nothing but praises for the hotel staff. To top that off, the room was huge and clean, perfect for our little family of four. Although we didn't get to try the pool but it was also clean and inviting (maybe next time!) Tried to make a reservation to talk to Esmeralda the general manager. We stayed there before. Sterling hung up on me two times and was very rude he would not let me talk or leave a message to Esmeralda! Vicki reservations assistant was very condensing would never recommend this place again. Esmeralda was the only one that cares but no one there will let you talk to her. The hung up on me twice and Vicki does not even care even though you are a Diamond Select BW Elite member shame on your mean ugly staff! Esmeralda and I had a totally good connection medically and personal! She said call her direct but her staff Vicky and Sterling are blocking me from her! This is a bare bones hotel. It is clean, but needs a full update. Stayed here because it was within walking distance of our appointment. It looks nice at first. The rooms have been recently painted BUT repairs are needed. (See photos). I was most disturbed by the door gap, had to shove a towel under it to keep the wind out, and the security lock. People are too nit picky. Here is an honest review. This hotel was clean, they asked how often we wanted to room made up and they came every day. Yes there was a gap under the door but it wasn't a big deal. Put down an extra towel or something. Parking lot is kind of tight but mostly because people are aholes. One night a Cal Trans truck took up 2 spaces. They must have been drunk or something. My only complaint was the "bed frame" it was about 1/4 too small for the mattress and when you sat on the bed, it would make a popping sound like it was metal popping in and out. Lodging in Monterey can be expensive, I found this out after working a field experiment here for two months. This Best Western was the best bang for your buck I found. It's in a decent neighborhood, walking distance from a few restaurants and also Alvarado Street (where you can have breakfast, pizza, beer, party). It's clean and has spacious rooms and has nice atmosphere overall. Unlike the Seaside SureStay location which is way more sketch and beaten down. And let's not talk about Lover's Point Inn, which was pretty terrible. The guests here were mostly families and some workers. The pool was almost always full of kids having fun. Sun - Thur nights are the cheapest, with Fri and Sat night being almost double the price. The front desk lady was very nice and even helped me use the guest computer to print out some documents. For staying here one night it was a great experience. Rooms seemed clean and look like have been recently updated. Staff was really hospitable too. The location is so close to Cannery row and Fisherman's wharf. 5 to 10 minutes away max. Parking is a little tight but you'll manage. We were even able to leave our luggage at the front desk while we went to the Aquarium after we checked out. How cool is that! Keep this place in mind if going out to Monterey Bay. read more

Best Western Park Crest Inn is awesome! I decided to book a room for a few days to celebrate Mother's day for my mother. Best Western Park Crest Inn is located in a quaint area. Upon arrival, we were given a room that's extremely close to the office and vending machines. The room itself was nicely decorated, with a fridge, microwave, and TV. Best Western also offers free "Grab & Go" breakfast bags between 7-10 AM every day. A breakfast bag includes juice (apple or orange), a fruit (orange or banana), a burrito, a granola bar, and a danish. Tapatío and Ketchup are available upon request as well. The Tapatío hot sauce goes great with the burrito. Overall, I'm pleased with everything. The staff is extremely friendly. Best Western is conveniently located in Monterey. I highly recommend this place for a quick getaway. read more

Rooms are remodeled and nicely decorated. The mattress is Supreme and very comfortable for sleeping. Get a second floor room and you will experience a quiet night. You will have to turn off the refrigerator or it will keep you up from it turning on and off all night. The breakfast is just OK and you will have to go either at 7 or 9:30 to beat the crowd. It can get quite crowded in the small room they have everything. The Inn is centrally located, easily walkable to Del Monte shopping center and fishermans wharf and downtown to Alvarado Street. Its a 10 min drive to Cannery row and 5 min drive to 17 mile drive entrance. read more

Conveniently located close to Del Monte shopping, the highway and fisherman Wharf, it's smacked in the middle of the motel district. We liked the attitude of the employees there and the cleanness of the facility, but it needs to invest more into noise reduction system. There was ample parking and we felt safe. The swimming pool was closed due to COVID. Breakfast was in the form of grab to go brown bag. Rooms were renovated with reasonable amenities that were pleasant to the eyes and are practical: fridge, microwave, coffee maker, good size closet, etc. Shower was hot and had adequate pressure, the wall mounted soap dispenser was a piece of junk, probably easier to smash the dank thing to get to the soap. Mattress was a bit on the firm side which made my back sore, the pillows were cheap looking and lumpy, not fluffy at all. Motels are notorious for being noisy, but in here this deficiency was more prominent. You will hear the floor creak whenever guests walking above. You will def hear the peeps next door all day and all night long. The room entrances were oddly paired together, so our door was literally 6 inches away from our neighbor's, it created some awkward moments. Nearby you can find cheap and good eats (Vietnamese, Thai, etc), as well as excellent french patisseries (Lusseaus, Paris Bakery Cafe) that served some of the best croissants anywhere in the US. Price wise this place was reasonable, our fav hotels in Carmel were charging King's Ransom on holiday weekend. Overall I thought this hotel has lots of potential, if only they can make it easier for its guest to sleep. read more

Ninna - a lady who also said that she's the manager provided us the worst customer service experience that we had ever experienced! "She kicked us out on the street at 10 pm with one year old baby". She wouldn't check us in even though we booked, reserved and paid for a room 3 days prior through Booking.com. Ninna accused us of liars because we had additional guests with us which we were upfront about it and were willing to pay the difference. There were 3 adults and 2 children (1 year old baby and a teenager) and we drove 9 hours to get here but Ninna has not only denied us a service but also refused to refund us the payment because she didn't like the way we talked to her. I came to stay at the his hotel from out of town for memorial weekend. Upon arrival my Mom and Aunt went to check the family in. As they come out they said the gentlemen who was working the front desk was so rude and very condescending. We end up going to our room and notice another family was going into the same room the hotel clerk checked us into. As me and my mother went back to the front desk I was really upset already and I was saying some stuff to my mother as we walked into the front lobby to confront this guy name Sterling. As I enter there to tell him wassup about disrespecting woman we got into an altercation. He was so rude and trying to start a fight with me. He flinched at me and I said what you trying to do. He said he is not scared of me and let me tell you I'm not scared of that punk either. He kept wanting to argue with me and my Mom about if we listen the first time none of this would happen. No do your dam job correctly and don't blame us for putting us in a room with another family. That dude is a total jerk and I would say more but I have to keep it professional. He's lucky he didn't try touching me because I would have went off trust me. I talked to the manager Esmeralda that night following the incident. I notice as we was speaking she stop giving me eye contact during the conversation. I feel she trying to cover up for him so I will take this up with corporate because that guy Sterling does not deserve to work there no more. Unprofessional and very bad attitude. Super cute little hotel, we came here for the weekend and I was very impressed with how clean everything was. It looks like the rooms were just renovated. The hotel is nicely located, not too far from the aquarium and the wharf, really close to Dennis the menace park. Plenty of restaurant options nearby. The only reason I am knocking off a star is that the beds were really high up and sort of awkward to get onto. Im pretty short and I had my two 7 year olds and we were all having trouble getting up lol. We made it happen though! We didn't have the breakfast so I can't comment on that. Since we have picky kids, I just bring cereal and milk and we are good to go. I would stay again, and it was very reasonably priced. read more

I have been going to Monterey for weekend trips for many years, and have stayed in many of the motels along Munras a/k/a "Motel Row", and my go-to for some time has been the Best Western Park Crest Inn. The manager Esperanza is super helpful and accommodating, the rooms are always very fresh and clean, the beds are really comfortable, the breakfast is excellent (it is a full fresh breakfast which includes eggs, bacon/sausage, and breakfast potatoes, along with yogurts, cereals, fresh fruit, and waffles you can make in a mini-waffle maker that everyone has fun with). The location is close to downtown Monterey so you don't ever need to use your car to do anything in town (there are many great restaurants, cafes, bakeries and shops (and the main drag, Alvarado Street) within walking distance). This is one of the few properties with a jacuzzi which I love to dip into in the evening after a local hike or long walk around town. I HIGHLY recommend this property to anyone who is heading to the Monterey area! read more

Not sure we would stay here again if we had options. We only booked this location because it was the most affordable place that had connecting room for two queen beds which was nice. Breakfast options were pretty good. Their mini waffles were surprisingly good. They are not staffed all night which can be a problem. I was awoken at 12 because the occupants three doors down were locked out their rooms and was banging the door for 45 minutes to get in. It is close to a lot of attractions so the place was great in that regard. They were also repaving the parking lot which made 1/2 the parking lot unavailable. It would've been fine if they had notified hotel guests so that guests can cancel and make other arrangements. Similar to other reviews the place seemed kind of stingy with certain things like getting extra towels. Staff was overall pleasant. read more

Hubby and I planned a weekend here last weekend to get away. In this COVID world, the pool was closed, which was a big bummer but the room was clean and nicely remodeled and they featured a "grab and go" bag for breakfast which was really generously packed! Staff was so nice while checking in. We were able to arrange early check in which was greatly appreciated. We took our bikes and a quick 5 minute ride and we are right at Fishermans Wharf. Monterey is a gorgeous place to ride with incredible paved trails that run along the ocean. For the price, we would certainly come back. read more

Fabulous breakfast to start your day in charming surroundings, inside or on the patio.....room is spacious even with two queen beds and my car is parked right outside the door. Location makes getting around Monterey easy with or without gps in the car. Front desk staff are pleasant, welcoming and helpful with my tourist questions they hear every day lovely pool with pool towels available at the front desk.
