Very dirty floors in the room.

Cleanliness is lacking. Front office staff was very friendly and helpful. I let my 14 month old crawl around the 2 bedroom suite while we unpacked. After 10 minutes, I looked at his feet and they were so dirty! Other than that, hotel is good in a great location and at a reasonable price.

Hotel room was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Was quaint and cozy for the one night we stayed. The pool was heated and hot tub was just what we needed for the end of the day walking. Not far from the wharf. We would come back again.

For my budget girlies!! Check in was simple. Room was clean and comfortable. We came late but didn't feel unsafe. Cautious but safe. AC and heater unit works quickly. Hardwood floors - So great instead of carpet. Shower and toilet worked great. Sink area was nice. 10/10 Budget friendly. Don't expect luxury. Perfect for our one night :)

We stayed here for a 2-night stay in Monterey for Labor Day weekend. Its more like a large two-story motel. So don't expect spas, gourmet restaurants, gyms, or other luxury amenities. That being said, rooms seem very clean and comfortable, with updated flooring and bedding. The AC and bathroom window were a bit creaky. Otherwise, we had a comfortable stay and our 3yo slept soundly on the Queen Bed both nights. Other nice features * Big, free parking lot with easy access to Monterrey Cannery Row, Pacific Grove, Downtown, etc. * Decent breakfast with hot items, yogurt, fresh fruit, and pastries. Coffee was bold and strong. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. * Plenty of storage space and charging outlets in the room. Reasonably good wifi. * No parking fees Minor downsides * Bathroom had no fan so use the creaky window for ventilation. * Being a motel-like structure, it'll be noisier than the traditional hotel. Not ideal for light sleepers but okay for me.

The gap under the door is large enough for a thick magazine

This is a bare bones hotel. It is clean, but needs a full update. Stayed here because it was within walking distance of our appointment. It looks nice at first. The rooms have been recently painted BUT repairs are needed. (See photos). I was most disturbed by the door gap, had to shove a towel under it to keep the wind out, and the security lock. Both seemed like something a hotel would fix asap. I would choose a different hotel, there is plenty of competition, next time.

    Nicely updated room

Hotel staff were very friendly and professional. This time we had the oceanfront room with the sofa bed. Beautiful views, of course, from the balcony. The room was clean, however there is an ant problem in the bathroom. It was not too bad, but we still weren't thrilled to see an ant here and there crawling on our things in the bathroom. It is strange that they use cloth shower curtains, so every time you take a shower they get soaked. Some toiletries are provided, but not as many as they used to. They used to give lotion, shower caps, shower gel, etc. Now it's just bar of soap, shampoo and conditioner. The bathroom is nice, though, with double sinks. Sofa bed worked out great for our 8 year old. She said it was comfortable, and we were also comfortable in the king size bed, which had a firm mattress. It can get noisy in the room with the balcony door open due to the seals and seagulls, but closing the door blocks most of the sound. We kept it open in the day and shut it when we went to bed. Breakfast - well, I guess you can't really complain too much when it's complimentary with the room, but it's really nothing to write home about. Hard boiled eggs, fruit plate, yogurt, and some muffins. Me, being a diabetic, I couldn't really eat any of it, except the eggs. Our daughter enjoyed it, though she is pretty easygoing. We had been hoping to save some money by eating breakfast at the hotel but we ended up eating breakfast out every day we were there. Be prepared to do A LOT of walking because this hotel is at the very end of Cannery Row -- although it's great exercise, and gave us a chance to work off all the calories from our meals. lol. The room was nice, we'd probably stay there again. One thing we were disappointed about was the hotel used to offer a discount if you bought aquarium tickets through them. They no longer do that. They also used to offer free bottled water in the room, which they also no longer do.

When we decided to extend our stay by an extra night, our harbor-view room wasn't available for the additional night, but they went out of their way to make it work so we didn't have to switch rooms. We really appreciated that! Parking was also very reasonably priced at $25, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable (firm, just how we like it), and the harbor view was absolutely perfect. We were a little concerned after reading reviews about the sea lions being noisy, but we actually loved hearing them from the balcony! Once the balcony door was closed, we couldn't hear them at all, and they never disturbed our sleep. One of our favorite perks was the complimentary binoculars available to guests--they were a fun touch for watching the harbor. And don't miss the sunrise from the fourth-floor rooftop terrace--it's absolutely beautiful! There were just a few minor things that could be improved. The hotel only has one elevator, and it can be quite slow during busy times. We also wish the freshly baked cookies were available throughout the day. They were put out around 3:00 p.m., but they disappeared almost immediately because they were so popular. When we arrived, our room temperature was around 78°F. We called the front desk to ask about the A/C and were told someone would come up. Security arrived and explained that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so the options are to use the fan or open the balcony door. It would have been helpful if the front desk had shared that information when we called. We left the screened balcony door open while we were out the next day, and the room cooled down nicely. The only other thing we wished the room had was a microwave. Overall, these were very minor issues compared to everything we loved about our stay. The location, views, comfortable rooms, and outstanding customer service made for a wonderful experience.

This was our second time staying in Monterey and I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel someday. It was everything I imagined and more! The service was exceptional from the valet to the bellhop to registration and restaurant staff. We are also IHG elite members and we were given a room upgrade with a thoughtful card and gift for our anniversary. Our room was facing the ocean on Cannery Row with a balcony. It was a very nice, spacious and clean room with alot of thoughtful attention like providing refillable water bottles, robes and an amazing Nespresso machine. There was also a wine bar and snacks available for purchase. The hotel had a wonderful scent throughout and we enjoyed walking through the ocean vibes staircase featuring a jellyfish. Definitely look for that! We loved having our anniversary dinner at The C Restaurant, but that will be another well earned review on it's own. However, we did have two negative experiences, one was that we waited a bit too long for our car at the valet once and there was an accidental spa charge on our receipt when checking out. I still gave them 5 stars because they rectified it right away and even removed the valet charge for us, which was much appreciated. I would love to come back to this hotel someday to bring my parents and we hope you love it too!!

Check-in was rough right from the start. There was a long line of people waiting, and while there were 4-5 employees at the counter, only 2-3 were actually helping guests at any given time, so the line just kept growing. Once I did get up to the counter, the staff member who assisted me was very friendly and helpful with any questions I had. The property itself is very poorly laid out. It feels like a maze of separate buildings that you have to constantly use your keycard to move between, and you even have to cross a public road to get to the pool, spa, and gym, which is not great, especially if you are just in a robe. I had a courtyard-facing room, which is also fully accessible to the public, so I did not feel super safe and while that likely explains the two security cameras directly facing our patio, it did not exactly create the most relaxing or welcoming environment. The gym is pretty expansive and has a good selection of weights and machines but the pool was such a disappointment as it is very small and feels more like a motel pool, partly because of the detached location but also because there is a parking lot and freeway directly behind it, so all I heard was constant honking while I was there. It is also unsupervised, and during my time there, there were way too many kids running around and constantly diving into the hot tub, which did not seem safe. Our hotel room was fine overall, but we did find numerous stains across various chairs, and the AC was incredibly loud whenever we had it on. The water pressure in the shower was very strong, which was great, but the sink and counter felt like they were at an oddly high height, which was fine for me as a taller person but would probably be inconvenient for someone shorter. The only saving grace of my stay was when we stopped by Peter B's to grab some drinks before dinner. The staff at the bar were super friendly and really pleasant to engage with, and we even ended up taking a crowler of one of their local brews home with us. Overall, while the location is excellent our overall stay was a pretty mediocre experience and certainly nowhere near worth the prices they are charging at over $500 for one night plus parking. This is absolutely not a 4-star hotel, but much closer to a 3 or even 2.5-star property.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.

The interior is also gorgeous, and it's amazing how well they've kept up the history of this place. We stayed in a queen suite, which was very outdated. Because of how old the buildings are, there is no A/C, which is typically fine, but we happened to be there on one of the warmest days of the year. Our room had an odd smell to it, and the amenities are pretty minimal. However, we expected this due to the age of the building. Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.
