Adjacent to the Monterey County Fairgrounds Everything was fine until we found out that this weekend was the California Roots Music & Art Festival at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. I learned that this is an annual event that featured several live performances by various artists across several musical genres. Had I known this prior to booking I would've chose elsewhere. I now know for future getaways in Monterey. The event started Thursday and lasted until Sunday (May 26 - 29, 2022). The fairgrounds was across the street from the backside of this inn and music can be heard super loud... actually, all we could hear was the bass guitar LoL. It would've been okay if we could make out the music. Furthermore, many of the guests and some artists this weekend booked here for the event so there were a lot of partying. Music played until 11:00p. That was our first evening, Friday. Parking was completely full. Saturday night was much better. Music from the fairgrounds played until 11:00p but the motel scene was much calmer... and quieter. -whew- By Sunday night the noise level was pleasantly quiet and we were able to enjoy the rest of our stay until our check out Monday morning. The room is spacious with two Queen-size bed. Non-smoking. Beds were comfy. I used our Wyndham Rewards points to get three free night's stay for a little weekend getaway in Monterey. We had to be picky on distance because of the gas prices. The inflation and crazy high gas prices had put a crimper on our summer travels. You feel me? Monterey is beautiful and a little over 3 hours away from home. Review #2592

After reading the reviews, I went ahead and booked a room here with some trepidation. Luckily, I had a really good experience with the hotel. The room was very clean and everything looked as advertised. I ran into zero roaches and I would definitely stay here again especially given the price point ($90 per night). Parking was plentiful and the staff was friendly. No breakfast is available but they give me a snack pack instead. The only drawback was the heater took a long time to kick in but it did eventually work.

For $120/night for one Friday night on Labor Day weekend, the room exceeded my expectations. (Though I think other Yelpers expected a 4 Star luxury resort for this price level?) -Front desk guy was nice enough. -Room was modern and clean...but ask for a room in the back to avoid street noise. -Bed and pillows were comfy enough. -Fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a TV with a variety of channels. -Breakfast had good coffee and make it yourself waffles...F.U.C. YES!!! :D -Ample and free parking. Less than 5 min from the airport. - But you'll definitely need a car, or taxi/uber, to get around. Conclusion: If you're a rich yuppy, or a trust fund kid, don't stay here. If you're lower or middle class, this Ramada is a solid clean place to stay.

    Roach infested room.

I needed a place to stay in Monterey for the night while friend was visiting. I booked myself for the night at this hotel after doing lots of research. Oh man I should've trusted Yelp review. As I enter the room, it was clean. Looked older than expected but it was fine. I used the restroom as I arrived and water pressure was so low that it clogged. I had to ask for the plunger at front desk. And I was just relaxing on the bed and I saw something moving within my eye sight. It was of course a roach. I got so grossed out so I decided to check out at the middle of the night. They offered me another room but I declined. I mean what's the chance of other being infested. They said they will give me a refund but they said I have to call Expedia. I called Expedia the next day and they said the hotel has to process the refund so they need to talk to the manager of the hotel. It's been a week and half and i still has not gotten the refund.

Hotel staff were very friendly and professional. This time we had the oceanfront room with the sofa bed. Beautiful views, of course, from the balcony. The room was clean, however there is an ant problem in the bathroom. It was not too bad, but we still weren't thrilled to see an ant here and there crawling on our things in the bathroom. It is strange that they use cloth shower curtains, so every time you take a shower they get soaked. Some toiletries are provided, but not as many as they used to. They used to give lotion, shower caps, shower gel, etc. Now it's just bar of soap, shampoo and conditioner. The bathroom is nice, though, with double sinks. Sofa bed worked out great for our 8 year old. She said it was comfortable, and we were also comfortable in the king size bed, which had a firm mattress. It can get noisy in the room with the balcony door open due to the seals and seagulls, but closing the door blocks most of the sound. We kept it open in the day and shut it when we went to bed. Breakfast - well, I guess you can't really complain too much when it's complimentary with the room, but it's really nothing to write home about. Hard boiled eggs, fruit plate, yogurt, and some muffins. Me, being a diabetic, I couldn't really eat any of it, except the eggs. Our daughter enjoyed it, though she is pretty easygoing. We had been hoping to save some money by eating breakfast at the hotel but we ended up eating breakfast out every day we were there. Be prepared to do A LOT of walking because this hotel is at the very end of Cannery Row -- although it's great exercise, and gave us a chance to work off all the calories from our meals. lol. The room was nice, we'd probably stay there again. One thing we were disappointed about was the hotel used to offer a discount if you bought aquarium tickets through them. They no longer do that. They also used to offer free bottled water in the room, which they also no longer do.

When we decided to extend our stay by an extra night, our harbor-view room wasn't available for the additional night, but they went out of their way to make it work so we didn't have to switch rooms. We really appreciated that! Parking was also very reasonably priced at $25, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable (firm, just how we like it), and the harbor view was absolutely perfect. We were a little concerned after reading reviews about the sea lions being noisy, but we actually loved hearing them from the balcony! Once the balcony door was closed, we couldn't hear them at all, and they never disturbed our sleep. One of our favorite perks was the complimentary binoculars available to guests--they were a fun touch for watching the harbor. And don't miss the sunrise from the fourth-floor rooftop terrace--it's absolutely beautiful! There were just a few minor things that could be improved. The hotel only has one elevator, and it can be quite slow during busy times. We also wish the freshly baked cookies were available throughout the day. They were put out around 3:00 p.m., but they disappeared almost immediately because they were so popular. When we arrived, our room temperature was around 78°F. We called the front desk to ask about the A/C and were told someone would come up. Security arrived and explained that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so the options are to use the fan or open the balcony door. It would have been helpful if the front desk had shared that information when we called. We left the screened balcony door open while we were out the next day, and the room cooled down nicely. The only other thing we wished the room had was a microwave. Overall, these were very minor issues compared to everything we loved about our stay. The location, views, comfortable rooms, and outstanding customer service made for a wonderful experience.

This was our second time staying in Monterey and I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel someday. It was everything I imagined and more! The service was exceptional from the valet to the bellhop to registration and restaurant staff. We are also IHG elite members and we were given a room upgrade with a thoughtful card and gift for our anniversary. Our room was facing the ocean on Cannery Row with a balcony. It was a very nice, spacious and clean room with alot of thoughtful attention like providing refillable water bottles, robes and an amazing Nespresso machine. There was also a wine bar and snacks available for purchase. The hotel had a wonderful scent throughout and we enjoyed walking through the ocean vibes staircase featuring a jellyfish. Definitely look for that! We loved having our anniversary dinner at The C Restaurant, but that will be another well earned review on it's own. However, we did have two negative experiences, one was that we waited a bit too long for our car at the valet once and there was an accidental spa charge on our receipt when checking out. I still gave them 5 stars because they rectified it right away and even removed the valet charge for us, which was much appreciated. I would love to come back to this hotel someday to bring my parents and we hope you love it too!!

The hotel itself is beautiful, and the ocean views from our room were a huge highlight. The room was very clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed and more. The fireplace, tub, and private deck really elevated the whole experience. It was also great having a spa and restaurant right on site, adding even more convenience and relaxation to our stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.

The interior is also gorgeous, and it's amazing how well they've kept up the history of this place. We stayed in a queen suite, which was very outdated. Because of how old the buildings are, there is no A/C, which is typically fine, but we happened to be there on one of the warmest days of the year. Our room had an odd smell to it, and the amenities are pretty minimal. However, we expected this due to the age of the building. Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.
