My bed was cozy and again... this place was clean!!! I find it strange that hotel staff was not on site but for a few hours each day. I've never experienced that before. My first time here and AJ the owner made it cool. He recommended a lot of stuff in the vicinity. The room is simple. I like it. Nothing fancy, two queen beds and a bathroom. Very cute for a last minute booking. My daughter was in Monterey and I found out at the last minute. I had to find an affordable hotel in Monterey or nearby and this was it. The drive from Sacramento took all of four hours and it was late by the time we arrived. We had to access the lockbox for the key and after communicating with the manager we were able to access the room. The room was clean and nicely appointed. I would stay here again. read more

I didn't get the front desk clerks name but we checked in Friday 9/23/22. He was so very nice and got us checked in right away. He offered us fruit and refreshments before we left the office. It was a very nice way to start out day in Monterey. We were in town for the Jazz festival. The hotel is literally either a short walk or Uber ride away from everything. As you can see by my pics the hotel itself is very quaint and clean. I agree with previous posts it should be upgraded to a 3 star Inn rather than a two star motel. I have stayed at many hotels n the area including the Hyatt and Portola spa etc. I will now make this "Inn" my Monterey destination. 5 stars for staff, location and parking. read more

A nice clean motel and staff are very nice. It's a 18 minutes walk to the old fisherman wharf. We came on a weekday so the rate is very reasonable. My only complaint is the shower door doesn't close tightly so we walk out the shower into a puddle; seems to be a known issue with the staff but hasn't been fixed. read more

Initially saved the stresses of finding a room last minute. The receptionist I had talked to that evening was so friendly and helpful. I believe booking.com had this labeled as a 2 star, but honestly, I'd bump it into a 3 star. The room was spotless. My partner had left her iPod case & someone from the inn had called & informed us that they would be shipping it back to us. THANK YOU SO MUCH. We were in the area looking at apartments for our future move & this stay was so pleasant, helped ease the stress. The location was very close to downtown and the mall. Charging docks for EV. Quiet even though it was near a street. Also, across the street from one of the places to eat late at night (Jack n the box). Unfortunately, I will probably not stay here because more than likely we are moving, but I will highly suggest this to everyone that I know that is looking for a place to stay. read more

No complaints! Our downstairs room was very clean and we didn't hear much of our upstairs neighbors or traffic. The bathroom could be considered small, but it was very well maintained and had relatively modern amenities. Water pressure was just okay. It was really SO clean, so of course, no bedbugs or any other nasty surprises, the cleanliness was the best part. There was no air conditioning, but we visited during summer and had no issues. Monterey never gets very hot, and there is a rotating fan if the room gets stuffy. We were able to easily walk to Old Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row which was very convenient to avoid the headache of parking. Both walks are very scenic and accessible. The area felt very safe walking back at night and the actual building was nice. One of the cheaper options in the area and one of the best little inns I've ever stayed at. Hi we stayed at this Inn this weekend. We were quite happy with our choice. The room was clean, shower had great water pressure. I really enjoyed that it was close to everything. When we arrived at the Inn I was happy that it was close to everything and that they allowed us to do a late last minute check in. We checked into room 15 and I was not impressed but cheap rates for a motel you get what you get. The mattress was horrible springs popping out dips in the middle. Not only was the mattress cheap but it was old. My partner is still having back problems. The lady at the front desk was rude when I spoke with her about it. She belittled me and brushed me off. The room was clean and just ok. Nothing special, not even a full length mirror. You definitely get what you pay for. The ice machine was not working so we had to go to the liquor store to get ice. The bad part was the owners attitude. He hates dogs so we kept our well behaved Golden Retriever in the car. He yelled at my husband when we offered to have the room cleaned for a fee of an additional $ 90.00. He was so rude and told us his cameras would be watching us. He DEFINITELY needs anger management classes. I would NEVER talk to someone the way he did us. read more

We stayed here for two and a half days. We parked right outside our double queen room. The room was clean and well appointed with fire screen (we did not use), flat screen tv, fridge (which was cold upon arrival ++), toiletries, plenty of towels, 10 pillows and a fan (which we did use). Staff was very helpful. Free breakfast was located in the very tiny office that did not open until 8 am. I am usually a late sleeper but alas this trip I was up by 7 am both days. Less one star for no in room coffee. The wait until 8 am was difficult but I did not want to venture out into the neighborhood for a cup of Joe either. As I said the staff was great. Offered suggestions and directions to restaurants and bars. Also Corey kindly helped me move the dresser when I dropped something behind it at 9:30 at night. If you smoke there is a patio at the end of the rooms where you can relax in very comfortable patio furniture. The days we were there were full of European languages being spoken. Got to the place 3hrs early before check in but asked one of the staff named Taffy if we could check in early and she checked with housekeeping if our room is ready and sure enough it is and she's able to accommodate us right away. Staff are great and friendly. Taffy was very accommodating as to what to do around the area or where to go and for directions. Room is a little dated but very well kept and clean. Homemade breakfast were great. Will be back for sure on our next visit. Place is walking distance to Fishermans Wharf and Cannery Row. We loved the walks to downtown/Alvarado street and surrounding area to see all the historical places. read more

This was a nice hotel with a great front desk person who let me check in early. The reason there is only one star here is that the hotel manager was terrible to me. When I told him that the room filled up with smoke from the fireplace he wasn't concerned at all. Instead he was rude and condescending and belittled me. We arrived Friday night. Which is awesome because the office does not close until 10pm. Cory(Manager) was awesome, he was very informative and asks which activities and food you are interested in. He warns you to be careful for the deer which was thoughtful. The rooms were well kept. We got a king bed, it was enough for me and the boyfriend . The maid cleaned the room perfectly and I had no complaints. They offer homemade cookies and free coffee. They do not have a pool or hot tub. So no trunks needed. Very kind owners. First let me say this is not a 5 star Inn but for what they are I give them 5 stars. It is quaint small Inn. it is not new or modern but is clean, well cared for and overall a nice place to stay. All for a modest price considering where it is located. Yes, there no breakfast like at some other places but I'll tell you what we did. We saved a few of their delicious muffins till the next morning and enjoyed them with a cup of "something hot" from the local coffee house. Very tasty. The room was more than adequate for our group of 5, two oldies and a youngie and two small babies. The beds were comfortable. Our youngie wanted to bring hers home. I was shocked to see how low the ratings were for this place. I thought this place was amazing! Home cooked breakfast is included (muffins, hard boiled eggs, steelcut oats, fresh fruit and coffee), flat screen tvs, a bed and breakfast vibe.... How could you go wrong for $65 dollars. Pros: *The manager (Corey) was insanely helpful and informative. *The room was generally clean (although there was quite a bit of dust build-up on the lamp bases). *The Inn is close to downtown and has several restaurants/shopping centers close to it. *Breakfast is decent, although small. Cons: *The rooms are not soundproofed at all. Even with the window/doors closed, I could hear every sound from the road outside...all night. You can hear everything from the neighbors rooms, the parking lot, and even rooms down the hall. Even with earplugs, it wasn't a quiet room. *The water went from frigid to scalding in a matter of moments, and then back again. They might want to check the temperature gauge on the water heater(s)...I'm sure it's way too hot. *The king bed was not comfortable, and the blankets smelled vaguely of mildew. *Every appliance which was in the room made a sound...all night. Clicking on or off. I eventually unplugged most of them. Overall, it was a decent price for the area, but I don't think I'll be returning. read more

We are a family of four with young teens. This was a great place to stay, especially if you want affordable and clean. The rooms are simple and small but accommodated us. We had a room with 2 queen beds that were very comfortable and we slept great. Location is very convenient with a nice walk to downtown. Breakfast was great! Rachelle had hot baked muffins and macaroons. There were steel cut oats in the crock pot, fresh fruit, toast, coffee and juice. Also a big bowl of hard-boiled eggs, still warm from the pot. Everyone I interacted with was friendly. The owner's recommendations and tips were helpful and spot-on. We were here for two nights and had a great experience. This is truly a gem in Monterey. It is a really cute little Inn. They still have actual keys for the rooms! The price was the main driver in our decision to book here, but the rating gave us confidence that we weren't "getting what we paid for". This was a steal! The front desk clerk was extremely helpful & friendly. He gave us a great recommendation for dinner, which was a short 5-10 min walk away in the cute downtown area. And there were free, fresh, homemade muffins & oatmeal raisin cookies at the registration desk. They also have a Keurig in the office, in addition to the coffee maker in the room. There is a nice amenity basket in the bathroom with a nice line of shampoo, conditioner & lotion (2 of each) plus makeup removal wipes & shoe shine wipes. The Inn is very close to downtown, Cannery Row & the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I highly recommend this property. read more

A charming, clean little motel across from a beautiful park near downtown in Monterey. Upstairs has a pretty view, with planter boxes filled with red geraniums, and the room has a real fireplace. We were greeted by Cory, the friendly fellow who had helped us make our reservation, and given fresh-baked cookies and muffins as we checked in. We had a great night stay. The room was adequate enough for our overnight needs. The bed was comfortable. Flat screen tv on the wall with a remoye that was a little getting used to. There was a unique wall mounted fireplace that kept us warm. The bathroom vanity is newer, hairdryer and a shower with a convenient foot rest for us ladies that still like to shave everyday. We wanted to stay in Monterey Bay to go to the aquarium in the morning. Booked on weds for Thursday no problem. After staying in a crowded hotel in LA where the walls were really thin and you could hear everything. We loved this place. We were in rooms 12 and 14, my husband and I heard seals all night and the road, but much better then the crazy people who checked in at 2am in LA. My mom and sister actually slept all night here. A large feet from our last place. The owner gave us great recommendations for places to eat, he also printed off our tickets to the aquarium and we got a bonus discount for buying them with a partnered place in town! I never heard my mom and sister through the wall, they didn't hear us, all I hear most the night was seals and cars! Right near down town you can walk everywhere, we will stay again. read more

The only reason we rated it 3 stars was because there was no AC, the curtain rod fell down and upon arrival 2 of the lightbulbs weren't working. He went out of his way to be extremely sarcastic when we were asking basic questions, and seriously looked like he was on something with his bug eyed look.
