We are driving up California and stayed here. I'd stay here again. You get breakfast and the rooms are pretty nice with high ceilings. The rooms are clean and beds are clean and comfy. I've never had bad luck at a Best Western. read more

We checked in really late on Saturday night and were tired , the guy who checked us in was not only friendly but was helpful and told us about a lot of places to go eat . May stay was Monday August 26, 2024. I have stayed here many times over the years and it continues to be great. Great front counter staff, clean, quiet and pleasant. Lots of choices for breakfast. There are several level 2 CCS charging stations in the parking lot with some under cover and a couple out front. And they work with the Tesla adapter. I recommend Mi Casita Restaurant for dinner. You can walk there from the motel. The house margaritas are great, and the challenge is can you only drink one? read more

This place was saved us from an otherwise cold and brutal night. My fiancé and I were traveling to LA from SF and right when we we had 1 hour left and hit the grapevine, CHP closed it due to snow. We then took the 33 to the 166 which ALSO closed. Shortly after 33 also closed. It was 1 am, below freezing, snowy, all roads where closed and we had nowhere to go. We called several motels that didn't pick up. When I called Best Western an agent picked up within seconds. She was very polite and empathetic to our stressful situation. She even called ahead to the hotel to make sure the road to the hotel wasn't also closed. I lost signal and the call dropped. Spoke to two other agents due to signal difficulties and they were all very pleasant as well. They got us a great rate for a king sized bed. Once we arrived our check-in was seamless and quick! The hotel is clean and has updated facilities. Our room was very spacious and came with a coffee maker, microwave and fridge. There was also a hot breakfast available until 9am! I was very impressed with the small space they have available near the cafe as a mini "business center". I had to take a business call after check -out and posted up in this room which was private and quiet. It's tiny but did exactly what I needed. It even has a computer and printer! Overall fantastic place to be. I definitely recommend this place. read more

This hotel might not get 5 stars in other locales, but here in Taft where my previous stay was at the frightening and macabre "holland Inn" and the choices are few, the very clean, well maintained and welcoming BW was a pleasure. Checkin smooth, room very comfortable and spacious, breakfast very good. I was happy to see that I was just a few feet from the old RR trail through town which was an unexpectedly nice walk. Great hotel right near Taft's small downtown. Super clean lobby, grounds, and room. Standard-type rooms are better appointed than expected, with large framed mirrors, ceiling fans, dimming lighting, and comfortable beds. The refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker are very convenient. Biggest hotel pool in the region. While higher priced than other motels in the area it was still pretty cheap (under $130). If ever back we will definitely stay here. read more

So apparently , the best Western doesn't care if you have tested positive for covid. They won't refund or switch your day. You either SOL on your money or show up positive and infect other guests in the hotel. Knowing this now, I will never book with them again. read more

We decided on this property as part of our visit to the Carrizo Plain National Monument based on other online reviews and were satisfied for the most part. Granted, there are not many options when visiting Taft, CA, but that being said, it seemed that BW put some thought into the customer experience. As reference, we were given a first floor room and checked in around 3:00 pm. Pros: - Clean interior with modern decor - Pleasant smelling rooms and high ceilings that made the space feel much larger - 24-hour coffee station with a Keurig machine - Wide range of breakfast options (hot breakfast + cereal, push-button pancake maker) - View of the distant mountains from the breakfast room - 2 blocks from their "main," street. The main street is a short strip of small shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, many were closed / out of business. The nearby highway is where one would go to access the grocery store, gas, and fast food places i.e. McDonalds. Cons: - Very noisy. There was a constant hum and clanging well past 11:00 pm. We would have addressed this with the staff, however, dealt with the issue figuring our stay was only one night. - First floor is actually lower than the adjacent park. This was off-putting because anyone at the park could see straight into the rooms. This area of Taft, CA had its share of vagrants, so buyer-beware. The surroundings were clean, but be smart, exercise common sense and don't leave any valuables in sight. Definitely request the 2nd / 3rd floor if possible. - Immediate surroundings are a little run-down. Dated body shop and industrial buildings (one - two story) comprise the view from the front. Down the block are run-down residences. - No in-room safe Keeping in mind that this is a hotel in a small town, I tried to have some perspective as I was reviewing. Overall, it's fine, however, I think these shortcomings would definitely hurt the property if it was in a larger market. read more

I am a teacher and need to take a very important test to become an admin on February 5. The main reason I am doing this is for more pay for my family. I started my reservation for February 4 on Jan 28 but I did not have my credit card easily available so I did not finish my reservation. On Jan 29 I was prompter to "finish" my reservation. I had my credit card and took advantage of the opportunity. My name, address, best western customer number and all were already filled out for me; all I had to do was put in my credit card... or so I thought. The next day I received a receipt for my stay. Opening it up, I realized that although all my info had been prefilled to "finish" my reservation, the DATE HAD BEEN CHANGED to the night I opened the "finish my reservation" email, January 29. I immediately called Taft Best Western directly and explained the situation at 8:47 am the morning of January 30. The front desk employee/proclaimed manager said the room was already put into "inventory" and there was nothing they could do. I explained I'm not coming until Sunday February 4, but no offer for even a discount for my real stay. This was a $163.67 mistake prompted by Best Western. The room was never used, no cost whatsoever to Best Western. I am beyond irritated at how this was handled and disappointed that no effort was made to make it right. Shame on Taft BW... I am struggling financially and this hit hard in the most difficult financial month of the year... something I will never forget. read more

If you are in need of accommodation in Taft, this is the place to be! This is a newer facility, super clean, free hot breakfast, and courteous staff. I was in Taft over a weekend for an event and I was just so thankful that I had a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay and sleep. I should also mention that price was very reasonable. On the check out day, I was not feeling well and requested a late check out. The staff had no problem giving me an extension at no additional cost. I highly recommend this place! read more

I usually don't like writing reviews especially when they're negative. In life we all make mistakes. I can't exactly say my stay there was miserable. My bed was comfortable love having a ceiling fan in my room. View wasn't too Grand. I did realize when we first arrived we seem to be the only interracial couple. In the morning time we went out to eat breakfast. They were out of waffle so we asked the lady at the front she can add more. She does look a little upset due to interrupting her on her phone. We didn't let it get to us we all have bad days. Upon getting our stuff together and leaving we accidentally took the blow dryer. When we realized that we turned around and brought it right back. We didn't get a thank you they just grabbed it and set it aside. So then I got a charge for 150.00 for the blow dryer and for smoking marijuana and cigarettes and for a towel. So let me start with we returned the blow dryer . we NEVER smoked anything in the room nothing at all. As for the towel yes we used it. I made some coffee they give u in your room. They cups were cheap it was so hot to the touch. I dropped it on my self and the counter. So I did what I thought was the right thing and cleaned it up. Well nope they charged me for using there wash rags to do so. They said it wouldn't come clean well my shirt did 2 days later. I have been going back and forth with this place on being wrongfully charged . I can't believe this. Who ever reads this be careful. Bring your own towels just in case. As for smoking i can't believe this we don't smoke in can't believe they charged me for it. Show me proof of this i deserve to see what im being wrongfully accused of. Also on the 2nd is when they charged me 150. I didn't realize it for about a week later. That's when they found the blow dryer sitting in the office. They said they took that off the price. Nope lie i was charged 150 . I will not let this go I work hard for my money surely not to just give it away said something I did not do. read more

Stayed here three nights. Very clean and organized. Wifi was easy to use and my television had a good selection with just an occasional frozen frame. $1.50 for detergent and another $1.50 per wash and per dry. Breakfast was enjoyable and the coffee was good. I can hear adjacent neighbors television sometimes along with doors shutting but that's typical. Shampoo was pert plus and the breakfast had a pancake machine, eggs, sausage, and hash brown. I was hoping for the passion fruit juice to be available but it was out. Bagels, toast, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, and fruit. Room keys are chip type so no need to slide or insert them which is nice. Switches are lighted so you can easily find them in darkness. Rooms 212 and 214 (and probably some others) have windows facing a wall. Weather was perfect during my visit in October so I never touched the thermostat. Concierge made it very convenient to check in as well as extend my stay. I will stay here again when in Taft. read more

Stayed here a couple day before Christmas cause there was no room at my sisters and loved it. People who ran the front were always very nice. Rooms are very clean and lots of room in there as well. Beds are very comfortable and so is the chair. Bath tub is long but not that deep. Filled it all the way up and barley covered my thighs. All in all I would definitely stay here again if my sisters house is full again. read more

The husb & I stayed in a 3rd floor room two nights during a weekend visit to Carrizo Plains. Good things: It's brand new (a/o 12/15) so everything is clean and fresh. It's away from main streets so it's quiet. There are only interior corridors, and no buildings were opposite our side of the building , so privacy wasn't an issue when we turned on room lights. Rooms come with microwaves and refrigerators with largish freezers. There's adequate counter space for toiletries in the bathroom. The lobby has a counter setup for tea and coffee at any hour. The front desk staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. They supply a free guide to Carrizo Plain, a good thing because the Chamber of Commerce (which presumably provides tourist info) was closed when we tried to visit during their posted weekday business hours. Desk staff kindly printed out Google map directions to Carrizo since you lose wifi partway there. Could be better: The ample pillows are seriously overstuffed, enough to be uncomfortably hard (I didn't ask, so unsure if others would have been available.) Breakfast was okay ( the room is comfortable and bright) but we were surprised to find only one kind of fresh fruit (small Delicious apples) when typically, BWs offer choices like oranges and bananas too. There was also only one (grape) packaged jam, no English muffins, and no herbal teabags. (On the plus side, there's a real toaster, not that contraption that barely warms the bread unless it goes through 3 times.) Saturday & Sunday breakfasts are served the same hours as weekdays (6-9am), even though a sign lists them separately. Doubt we'll be in Taft again, but would likely stay there again if we did. Just wish for softer pillows, oranges and chamomile tea! read more

I stay in Taft way more than I'd like to admit (because of work). In the past, my go-to hotels were Caprice and Holland Inn. Both are pretty terrible by anybody's standards. Ever since Best Western's grand opening, I have stayed here at least 25 times, and it's been very comfortable, clean, and respectful. Friendly staff, brand new building, new TVs and appliances, the pool area has a neat BBQ setup but the pool itself is a little too small to actually swim in it. Overall, It definitely exceeds 5 stars (by Taft standards). MEGA PLUS: There is a super cool friendly cat that hangs out in the parking lot. Our company booked several associates here over several nights and by accident an extra night was reserved over another booking. Although we had a discussion and agreement about getting a credit for the one night extra charges, it was never completed. When returning to address the unprocessed credit, the manager refused to give the credit although the person had already paid for that night. As a result, the staff will no longer be booked there leaving their business to lose much more than one night of charges for a room that didn't even exist. Don't you think that they could have referenced the guest name to see that there was another charge and let them know that there was a problem...nope, poor customer service or greed took precedence in this case...Watch your reservations and make sure you don't get taken by this manager. read more

Great place to stay This is a brand new, well managed hotel. Everything was perfect and that doesn't happen often. We had a large attractive room, their internet is easy to use and very fast, breakfast was excellent. Everybody was friendly and helpful. I notice small things: there was a cheerful attendant in the breakfast room keeping everything continually spotless. Ordinarily, a few crumbs accumulate on the tables, chairs get out of place, and the counters soiled. That didn't happen. Not at all. read more

This place was terrible. I reserved a room weeks in advance at 139.00 a night. Got there at 10:30 pm. Checked into my room and it was 92 degrees in the room. They had not turned the air on at all to make room comfortable. I called front desk asked if had other rooms that had air on, they said no. Was told to turn on air and it would cool down. Couldn't sleep last time I looked at clock was at 12:45 am it had cooled down 10 degrees. At 6:30 when my alarm went off the room still had not cooled to 70. Worst night of sleep ever. I don't think I have ever walked into a reserved room where they didn't have air on. Parking also a nightmare- they let construction vehicles take over both lots- parking perpendicularly. They did allow me to park up front in drop off area as no other spots available in lot. Asked for mgr to call me- they didn't. Contacted customer service. They dropped rate to 100. Still not worth it. Shouldn't have paid more than 59. Terrible read more
