The room was spacious and clean. the bed was comfortable. Parking was close to the hotel. The best feature was the shower. I've been in a lot of hotels where this is no water pressure. Grubby, grim, poorly ventilated, and with a very narrow winding staircase to the second floor that I'm sure violates the building code and would not allow a suited up firefighter to safely climb the stairs. Pathetically stingy little "breakfast" was offered. You'll do better getting coffee and oatmeal at McDonalds. I stayed here once more than a year ago and am still haunted by it. OTOH, my room was huge. If I had wanted to assemble some criminal cronies and plan group misdeeds for a film noir set in 1971, this room would have been ideal, up to and including a dreary kitchenette with a sink for smashing liquor bottles in. read more

I have to be honest, for $74.00 (including tax) I didn't expect much. The exterior looks very modest and when we drove in the parking we found it packed with just a few spots available (we had a late 9:30PM check in). I called the Inn several times to keep them updated on when we would arrive and they were always quick to answer and very nice. The check in was very easy and Peter's wife (she said it was too hard to pronounce her name) was very helpful , even at a 9:30PM check in, and recommended the best route for us to visit the Carrizo Plains National Monument (our reason for visiting) and the best restaurants for breakfast. The room , which looks newly painted, was much larger than I expected and included two queen size beds, a small refrigerator and coffee maker ( they also serve coffee from 5AM to 10 AM). Incredible find. Needed a place to stay during Superbloom 2019 at Carrizo Plain. Peter greeted us and was outstanding with his reception, checking us in, and providing multiple maps and expert, up-to-date info on where to find the flowers! There was a significant line, at the Visitor's Center, the next day and we delightfully drove by it fortified with his multitude of accurate data. The room was quiet, great blackout curtains, fridge/microwave/coffee with fresh coffee and pastries each morning. I will reiterate the service was five star, the room spacious and comfy, and beautiful grasslands waiting your enjoyment! read more

I have stayed here a couple times and the service was always amazing. Sounds like recently they hired a couple new people who are extremely rude on the phone and don't want to help you. I ask to speak to the manager and they won't let me talk to him. They also lied to me and said they were all booked and I went on their website and was able to book a room. In my many years of traveling I have never had customer service this bad before I even get to a hotel. So disappointed, especially because the owner was so nice, but with these employee he will lose a lot of business. Good luck trying to book a room! read more

For a small town, it's a Double Tree Hotel but it truly was a pleasant stay. I can say with honestly that that my stay here was better then at the Holiday Inn & Suits in Bakersfield. I booked a room with a king bed. The room was decently large, with a couch tucked around a bend in the room. The television remote would only change channels if pointed at the received located behind the television, which made for uncomfortable TV browsing. The couch was around a corner, making TV viewing almost impossible. Luckily, the bed was in front of the TV, so once I had my channel picked, I could sit atop the bed. I had a friend joining my room for only 1 of the 2 nights, so I alerted the manager and paid a fee to add an additional person to my room. My friend arrived late after I had fallen asleep and the manager refused to allow her to come to the room. She told me the manager was aggressive with her and another friend who was going to stay in a different room and chased them out, saying that was too many people in the room. The manager followed them into the street and watched them as they got into their car to find an alternative place to stay. The next morning, the manger denied this, stating he was trying to help my friend because the room key card had been deactivated. While the accommodations had been adequate up until this point, I was fed up and it soured my trip and my experience at the Holland Inn. read more

Friendly, everything worked in hotel room, small alley with small parking spaces, if your vehicle is larger than a sedan then please park on 6th St. Not wheelchair-accessible. Proactive management provided list of local restaurants and a map with directions to wildflowers! Minimal breakfast in an alcove, good coffee was provided. read more

The staff ( owners) were beyond friendly and accommodating, the room was spotless and large, great water pressure in the shower ( although the shower head was a bit low) - it was a great stay and exceptional value. I was very pleased with my stay at this establishment. I checked in around 9:30 pm and the parking lot was full. I was nervous to leave my car on the street and the gentleman at the desk (I assume it was Peter) allowed me to park right near the entrance. I was traveling alone and he also placed me in a downstairs room close to the office.. these kind gestures made me feel safe and secure during my stay. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. I met the wife the next morning and thanked her. She was kind enough to call me when I left my pillow in the room. This one is the best! Do not be worried about paying cheap because the place is awesome. Run by a family that are very respectful and are there to make sure your stay is to your satisfaction. Do not pay double somewhere. Quiet neighborhood and everything you need is here. They even have blow dryer that is a mist for me. Over all i am so glad i stayed here. Friendly check in! Great Room. Comfortable bed. All house keeping was Very clean. Fridge, microwave, wifi, no smoking, TV cable channels. Great local movie theater and nice local restaurants to choose from. Easy drive to Carrizzo Plains. We would stay here again. Breakfast is not provided, but a couple of excellent local cafes. Clean and quiet, with a little kitchen off the the side. Friendly staff. This hotel is a bargain and, for the long trek through California's central valley, well worth the detour off of route 5. Taft has around 10,000 population. It is a sleepy town. There are 3 hotels in town, and it looked to me that the Holland Inn was the best of the 3. It is off 6th Street, has 22 rooms, and a little pool. It is ok for what it is, and where it is. What surprised me the most about staying here is that they is nobody really on the streets, let's say compared to Pasadena, but on Saturday night, the noise of cars surprised me on 6th Street. read more

I've been quit a few of these hotels out here and this one is refurbished ! Bed and sheets are newer not from the 70's. New paint but the furniture is still old as hell . But what ever . For Taft I will be staying here . Friendly clerk made it easy over the phone to get a room as well as easy check in when I got here . Definitely go skydiving at skydive Taft . We read the reviews and booked a room for several days. The room was clean and nice. Hot coffee available along with tea or coco, instant oatmeal and sodas for only .75 each. Was actually a good stay until I got into my car and found a bed bug on my sweater... password to wifi is taft1234. Don't stay here! Sooo gross!!! Also there's one exit and entrance. The front door is kinda hard to open. On your left will be the office, no one is ever in it. They're in the security room in the office, seems more like a jail. read more

I travel constantly for work and I get to stay in fantastic hotels with all of the amenities and goodies you could want. Holland Inn & Suites has none of that but I come to the area 4-5 times a year and there are VERY limited choices. Of those choices I really enjoy Holland the most and it is due to the management and the constant effort to keep improving. I have been staying here for three years and every time they have made improvements and really all they need now is an investor to come in to replace the carpeting, bedding and bathrooms supplies. The neighborhood is very quiet and there are several food choices within walking distance. In the last year Taft as a city has added several new restaurants so hopefully the town keeps growing. The manager of this hotel is the true value here. He is so quick to help out, he remembers your name and his other staff is very friendly as well. read more

I was traveling to McKittrick for work last month and needed a place to stay. Needless to say the nearest good sized town is Bakersfield which is about 50 miles away. Just a bit to far to commute after working 12 hour days so I looked around and found the Holland Inn & Suites in Taft, Ca. The hotel staff is very accommodating and friendly. Rooms very clean and spacious with a mini fridge and microwave. Even though the hotel was right next to the schools in town and on a main street it was very quiet. Also much to my surprise was the high speed internet which was very speedy without the slowness you typically find in some of the larger hotel chains. The only drawback if I had to try to find one was the lack of an elevator. I'd highly recommend this hotel for any one traveling to this semi remote section of California. read more

Although this hotel could make a few improvements (it's not a Ritz-Carlton, after all), a coworker and I each stayed here and thought the place to be fairly priced, clean, bug-free, and had comfortable beds with soft sheets. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at and the service was as bad as it gets. I never leave reviews or rate a place but this was so bad I feel obligated. There were 2 big stains on the comforter and when I told the guy at the front desk he had an attitude and didn't believe me so I showed him and he went grabbed me a new one. The new one wasn't any better because it had burn marks in it. The top sheet had what looked like an old blood stain in it. We ripped the top sheet off and didn't use a comforter. We used a blanket we brought. The room smelled like someone smoked crack then sprayed it down with Lysol. The place is in the hood and it backs up to an alley where people were partying all night. I thought my truck was going to get broken into but luckily it didn't. When we went to bed we could clearly hear the conversaron 4 people were having in the room next to us. It's on the corner of a busy street so we could hear cars all night. I would give this zero stars if I could. Do not stay here. read more

Where do I start? This is about as low as you can get for a flea bag hotel. There were several stains on the carpet in our room. I found a hair and lots of dust next to the coffee maker. Peter and his wife do a wonderful job of making sure their guests feel welcomed and completely taken care of. Initially an apartment building built in the 1930's, the Holland Inn was later converted into a hotel so the rooms are fairly large. The rooms are kept very clean, have large flat screen tv's, with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers and strong water pressure. The parking lot and perimeter of the property have many cameras that are constantly watched, so safety is not an issue. For the price, cleanliness, and outstanding customer service, the Holland Inn simply can't be beat for those staying in Taft. read more

Great staff, helpful and always smiling. The rooms have been updated and were very clean. The rooms by the road do have some road noise but it isn't much and minimal on the weekends. Great place to stay if heading North to Mckittrick to visit the penny bar. read more
