Quaint little family owned restaurant. We enjoyed a few empañadas and mimosas. The pastry dough was light and perfectly baked. The filling is very well seasoned and full of flavor. I think out two favorite tasting empanadas were the Brazilian Pastel and the Andouille. They were a bit busy so service wasn't the quickest, but we were not in a rush. We loved the decor and the quality of the food.

This place is amazing every which way! The aesthetic is super great, bright & upbeat. The service is great. They even asked each of us our name and kept our separate orders straight. Drinks are made right there and the food is the best!! We had empanadas and waffles and amazing lattes! The portions were a great value and the menu choices were so many. We each got something different and everything looked so good. The food was fresh and the flavors were on point. We already have another trip planned!

Cute little cafe. Clean. Busy on a Sunday afternoon. My gf and I love empanadas so we bought eight different ones, trying a variety. It took a while, but that's not surprising considering how busy it was. The gentleman we ordered from was very sweet and offered to bring them out to us if we wanted to wait in the car. The reason for the 3 stars is just the empanadas themselves: Some were nice, some were okay, and some were just not good at all. Out of eight, We liked 3, didn't like 5. Terrible P - Portobello - WAY too much cumin. We couldn't eat it. Me - 0/5 Girlfriend - 0/5 A - Argentine Beef - Also couldn't eat it. Also waaay too much cumin. She was really bummed about this one. We were both looking forward to the beef. Me - 0/5 Girlfriend - 0/5 I'm honestly wondering if these were just accidents. I can't imagine they normally taste like this. They both tasted like someone accidentally knocked over a fistful of cumin powder into the mixing bowl. Or some other seasoning that tastes just like cumin. Okay O - Chicken Á L'Orange - Shredded chicken flavored with orange zest. Chicken was a little dry, no flavor besides the orange. Just tasted like, "...orange and boiled chicken." Really wish there was some caramelized onion or garlic flavor. I'd be okay with it again. She wouldn't. Me - 2/5 Girlfriend - 1/5 PA - Patagonia Mushrooms - I thought it was overpowering. Needed butter or cream to turn down the volume. GF liked it, but thought it was, "...just bacon or sausage flavored." Me - 1/5 Girlfriend - 3/5 CK - Chicken Almond - Weird. Definitely wasn't what we were expecting. Almond extract flavored shredded chicken. Shredded chicken that tastes like an amaretto biscuit is a little weird, but I love almond extract and could get used to it. My GF on the other hand, hates, HATES almond extract so she despised this one. Me - 2/5 Girlfriend - 0/5 Great BP - Brazilian Pastel - I liked it, she loved it. I thought it was good. I'd split one if we went back. She wouldn't. She'd keep it all for herself. She loooved it, "Nice and creamy, tasted almost like a really nice shepherd's pie." Me - 3/5 Girlfriend - 5/5 LC - Le Ciel - I loved it, she liked it. There was a flavor she didn't like. I thought it was really delicious. Me - 5/5 Girlfriend - 3/5 C - Côte d'Azur - Tasted like chicken in a Herbes De Provence flavored cream/bechamel sauce. She said, "I liked it, but it was a little overpowering. Like, too much seasoning" I said, "Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Are you going to finish that?" Me - 5/5 Girlfriend - 4/5 So there you have it. Cute cafe, nice owners, good service, some great empanadas, some not so great empanadas.

Came here with my bestie and had an awesome experience. Food came out pretty slow and portions were mostly small. However I can say that we throughly enjoyed our empanadas (i canmot remember which one but that were recommended and they were all quite tasty) and waffle. The owner was very friendly and welcoming!

What's so special about empanadas? Everything!! Or at least Besties' empanadas. Upon being seated, we were handed 4 menus (which can be a little overwhelming). The main one you want to look at is the one with the list of empanadas. They separated it by category: with meat, without meat, sweet, gourmet, and vegan. I ordered the following: 1. Argentine Beef: A classic favorite at this restaurant, and rightly so! The flavors are savory and it's packed with ingredients, from meat to onions to spices. 2. Blue Dream: I didn't have too many expectations for this one, but it was actually so rich and flavorful. The walnut is an unexpected combination but added a needed texture. Definitely worth trying. 3. Andouille: The combination of cheese and sausage tasted great. 4. Spinach and Cheese basket: Not as flavorful, and I didn't fancy the basket as much as the empanada's crust. Unless you don't like meat, I would probably stick with the meat options. 5. Guava: Wow, this one was incredible. It was both sweet and tart. Unfortunately for me, I took my time eating the other ones and saved this one for last, so it wasn't warm when I got to it. My favorites were definitely the Argentine Beef, Blue Dream, and Guava (oops, am I allowed to pick 3 out of 5 as my favorites?) Each empanada was $3, excluding the Gourmet options which were $3.50. My friend was surprised that they weren't priced at $4/each, but I thought that $3/each was pretty reasonable. I would suggest ordering at least 5-7 empanadas for a full meal. It took about 10-15 minutes for the food to come out, and there were stamps in the dough so you can tell which empanadas are which. The ambience is nice - clearly a local restaurant and they had fun decorating it with orange splashes. Parking is plentiful, and even if you can't find a spot nearby there are lots of surrounding parking lots. Next time, I'm going to try their Belgian waffle!

Honestly a hidden gem! I've been finding a lot of those lately. Places that you could easily walk past or drive by a hundred times and not think twice to stop in. Do yourself a favor and STOP driving or walking and pop in to Besties. You won't regret it. First impression was that it was set up as a very cute cafe style restaurant with a great patio area and the lovely woman behind the counter greeted us warmly with a smile. We had never been in before so we wanted to check out the menu and there were so many options we will have to come back to try more. We asked a few questions once it was our turn and placed our order. I decided to try the Delirium Belgian beer and it was great! Ive had a few beers from the company and the tremens didn't disappoint. Will have to try a glass of wine next time. Everything was delicious! And the service was wonderful. My fiancé and I rode the motorcycle out as it was a nice night and we sat on the patio area to enjoy our meal. The lovely woman who helped us order brought our food out to use once it was ready. We tried: Mardel tuna- very very good. Just enough lemon to bring out the flavors without overwhelming it-not dry at all Chicken almond- the chicken was a little dry but good. Expected more of a curry flavor but it does say it's a hint so I'd agree it was just that. This is a great option for people who love a good chicken salad. Patagonia - my favorite AND it got praise from my fiancé who hates mushrooms so that says a lot. Very flavorful! Bacon- the name says it all! Bacon and more bacon it was good Brazilian beef- gourmet option. It was good and similar to any ground beef -good flavor - could use a bit more onion in my opinion but we are a family that loves onion so I feel the amount is probably perfect for your average diner. Spinach basket- a bit much for me but my fiancé loved it. Very spinach/pesto-y not cheesy enough in my opinion but I'm not the biggest fan of spinach in large doses. Nutella - delicious! Warm and gooey Only thing I was sad about was not trying the guava, but they were out so we had substituted that for the Nutella. We will have to come back for sure! Once we finished eating we went inside to cash out and brought our dishes in. I'm not sure if the lovely woman helping us was the owner or not but she was so sweet and helpful as we made our choices. Since we were some of her last customers and the only ones on the patio we helped out by bringing everything in though she did say we didn't have to do that. 10/10 we will be back!

Five stars alone for the service! I've been here twice and was served by the owner herself both times. She even remembered me! She is so wonderful and you can definitely see the passion by the way she talks about her empanadas and ingredients. I love Argentine empanadas so I was excited to see Besties pop up near me. In addition to sweet and savory empanadas, they also serve waffles, pastries, tapas, gelato and more. I was very impressed by their dedicated vegan empanada menu. Over the course of the two visits, I tried the following empanadas: Caprese Fugazetta Portobello Spinach and cheese Nutella I also ordered some with meat for my family. The empanadas are around $3 each, $3.15 for vegan. I tried a mix of vegetarian and vegan empanadas. The empanadas are on the smaller side, but they are very tasty. They all have small dough markings on the corner to indicate what they are. For example, P for portobello, CA for caprese, and so on. These are all listed on the menu. The space is bright and fun. It's nicely decorated with paintings and with what looks like traditional items and decor. Tons of indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas. Worth a visit!

Visited Besties for a light-option lunch, and I'm so glad! With plentiful options, there's something for any palate. The ambiance is cozy and bright, Latin music is great, and the staff that are really invested in ensuring your experience is perfect! Since this was our first visit, we opted for a variety: (C)ote D'azur, Chicken a L'(O)range, (PA)tagonia Mushroom, and (E)lixir - ham & pineapple... And Alfajores (Dulce de Leche) for a sweet finish. But choices don't stop there. They have Belgian waffles & Crepes, bowls, smoothies, & Spanish Tapas too! Drinks selections span from teas/coffees/cappuccino and juices to beers and wine. Flavor-wise, they were all uniquely tasty. But the standout was the Cote D'azur (chicken with Herbs De Provence) with finely minced chicken. The L'Orange had a hint of orange peel, but lacked intensity. The Patagonia came in a close 2nd, leaving the Elixir - Which was OK overall. Pausing between nibbles, to refresh with the chilly filtered water, our tastes buds were satiated. Finishing with a latte, really capped of a delightful lunch! Also, there are outside umbrella tables for those sunny days, and parking is ample...so what are you waiting for? Good Eats await!

Besties has great empanadas and Belgian waffles. Everything is made fresh with many options for vegans and vegetarians. I recommend it if you're looking for something warm and homey for breakfast or lunch! The owners are very sweet, and you can tell how much they love what they do. They try to get to know their customers and want them to enjoy their meals. Prices are low and free parking!

Had a great dinner here! Average rating came out to a 4.6, and I've rounded up to 5 here. My partner and I ordered 14 empanadas (bacon, chicken almond, andouille, mardel tuna, Patagonia mushroom, elixir, le ciel, chicken tikka masala, Brazilian pastel, chicken a l'orange, cote d'azur, fugazetta, portobello, and samosa style chickpeas) and the Atomic Brussels waffle for dessert - TASTE: 4/5 - everything was lovely! My favorites included the richness in the bacon, subtle sweetness in the chicken almond, cheesiness of the fugazetta, and savoriness of the Patagonia and Brazilian pastel. We were so impressed by the distinct flavors in each empanada! Our waffle was just the right amount of sweet to top off our meal TEXTURE: 5/5 - the empanada shells were crisp and flaky, perfectly done PRICE: 5/5 - each empanada was only $3.50, which is pretty dangerous lol SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - my partner carried us as we closed in on the last few, shared empanadas; safe to say that we were definitely stuffed and satisfied SERVICE: 5/5 - we knew 14 different empanadas would take time, but our order came out fairly quick! The space began filling up after we arrived at 6:15pm on a Thursday. Super friendly staff: our waitress was attentive and helped explain how each empanada was labeled, and the chef came out and asked what we liked! ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - love the overall concept of bringing empanadas and waffles together. We enjoyed the European-inspired decor and music, and the bathroom was very clean PARKING: 5/5 - plenty of parking in the Flynn Crossing plaza

This place is really cute and such a nice place to grab a quick bite, lunch or brunch!! The inside is very welcoming with the decorations and and the staff. I went to order some empanadas to go and the service was great. I waited for them to be baked and they were so warm. The empanadas also tasted amazing. You can tell they are home made and and they have many flavors to choose from. The menu is also pretty big for with wide options for people with different diets as well.

Found this cute little empanada shop near the hotel I was staying at and decided to give it try. The young lady working the counter was very helpful and the empanadas and dessert was great! I would recommend this eatery.

The cauliflower appetizer was a hit with everyone and the portion was huge. I personally would have preferred it to be cooked a little less, as it was quite soft. The patatas bravas were decent. We shared it among six people, and it was just enough to satisfy our sweet tooth. Our server was very friendly, and the restaurant itself is really cute. The location, awesome reviews, and photos made it a no-brainer. My lunch companion and I decided to share the queso fundito and shrimp empanadas and both were great. The queso fundito came with roasted corn and a garlic toast while the shrimp empanadas were plated on top of a bed of salad. The empanadas were a nice size and I would totally order these just for myself for lunch. I added a shrimp tempura taco to round out my meal. We ordered the deviled eggs appetizer, my husband ordered the crab cakes, and I ordered the lettuce wraps app as my main. The crab cakes were really good (I had a bite or two), and the buns were unexpected but delicious! The lettuce wraps were also very good, but honestly not what I thought a lettuce wrap would be. I've seen other pictures of them that were much more traditional finger food for brunch, so not sure if they changed them entirely or if this is just dinner version. Tasty, but obviously not for picking up... it would be tricky to wrap them up in that tiny piece of lettuce and I did not want to get dripped on with the sauce. So, if knife and fork lettuce wraps were a thing - this would be it! I think the bib lettuce makes it hard as it's so frail and flimsy, so if I had any suggestions, maybe it would be to try wrapping them from a head of lettuce for a bigger, more firm piece of lettuce. Dessert was a strawberry shortcake. Nice finish to a richly flavored dinner. My husband asked for an espresso and it came in a huge mug. Not sure if this is standard, or if they ran out of demitasse cups. Service was more attentive on front end, but less as they got busy and our server got more tables. I asked another server for water refill and then a manager brought us a dessert menu since our server disappeared. He showed up with the check and we had to tell him we wanted dessert. We made reservation through open table and got seated immediately. When we left, the little lobby area was packed so we definitely went at the right time. I think the servers were getting a little overwhelmed (and I cannot blame them). Still a great view and worth the hassle of finding parking in downtown Alpharetta.

It was warm outside and warm = rooftop bar. It was the start of a great night. Let's get into it! Location and Parking They are located in downtown Alpharetta on South Main Street. The restaurant sits on the fifth floor of an office building. There is no parking directly by the building, however there is free street parking as well as a deck that is free and is a few minutes walk. If you can, I would recommend taking the walk so you're able to see all of the other shops and restaurants and enjoy the live music that's sure to be playing. Venue and Atmosphere When you walk in you're automatically greeted by the hostess. If you are going on a weekend I absolutely would recommend having a reservation, especially if you want to sit outside. We did not, so it was essentially every woman for themselves. In addition to the tables, there were some couches that were first come first served. We lucked up and a woman was leaving and gave us her table. Food and drinks Since this was our first stop we didn't want to fill up too much. We ordered the charcuterie board, which served as a good snack. I ordered their old fashioned made with Knob Creek, my wife had a cider, and our friend has one of their IPA's. Service Service was decent, considering there was a lot going on. With my friend's IPA they were changing the keg and it actually took a while for that to happen, but our server gave my friend another drink at no charge to make up for that fact, which was a nice touch. Verdict I'm not in Alpharetta much, but the next time I am, I'll definitely stop through for a drink and the view. If you're in the area stop on in! Until next time!

The hightop tables were a bit too high for us, but the other traditional seating was great with a candle at every table. We ordered all types of things. The pulpo (octopus) and baked mussels really stood out as our favorites. Owner/manager came out to speak with us. He and his staff clearly care about creating a great business with the best Spanish dishes in the area. Give this spot a try--you won't regret it!

The ambiance is classy while not being stuffy, with business casual dress code. All of the staff were welcoming and kind to us, from the hostess to our waitress to the food runners. We shared several tapas: paella verduras, Pulpo parrilla (grilled octopus), Pan con tomate, empanadas with beef, Calamares fritos (calamari) , Espárragos (asparagus), and Patatas bravas. Everything was absolutely delicious! One of my favorite items of the night was the bread with tomato (pan con tomate)! The bread was toasted perfectly and came with garlic and grated tomato to spread on it, along with a sprinkling of greens. My typical favorite at Spanish restaurants (patatas bravas) was done very well here too, with the right crunch and tasty sauces. The perfectly tender octopus came with a side of beans that I wished to ask for the recipe for because they were seasoned so nicely! The calamari was breaded lightly which allowed the natural flavors to shine. The beef empanadas were juicy and crisp. The asparagus was cooked to perfection. The vegetable paella was also filling and wonderful! We ended our meal with the toffee butter cake which was an absolute dream. We look forward to coming back for more!

The food is excellent, and the service even more top notch. Both owners are there every time we go, and support their staff in a very positive manner and chip in wherever is needed. Sanctuary has been so awsome, and the seasonal changes of the menu provide such a quality variety, we find it hard to want to try other places now. I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

Our waiter was pleasant, attentive, and genuinely tried -- so none of this reflects on him. We tip regularly, and we still did, because the issues we experienced felt more like management and kitchen pacing, not server error. The biggest problem was the timing of the food, and it was honestly awful. Our soups and appetizer came out almost at the same time, which I could have overlooked -- but then the entrée was dropped on the table immediately after the soup, with no pacing at all. It wasn't even our waiter bringing the food; it was other staff members just setting plates down without checking where we were in the meal. Because my entrée was seafood, it cooled down quickly while I tried to finish the earlier courses. Then the scallops came out undercooked, partially clear in the center. When I mentioned it, the waiter said it's a common complaint because they don't cook them long or they fall apart. He took them back, and they came out more cooked -- still not great, but at least edible. The dish itself (with black bean hummus, corn, and avocado) wasn't worth the price. The corn tasted like cold canned corn, and overall the entrée just didn't feel special. My husband had the spinach, chicken, and bacon salad and enjoyed it. Both soups -- tomato basil and butternut squash -- were delicious. The brie rosemary dip was just okay. There were a few flies around the table, which was annoying, and the inside is a bit dark, so more lighting would help. I can see myself coming back to try more soups, salads, appetizers, and burgers here, but I'll avoid the dinner entrées unless reviews become more consistently positive. There's definitely room for improvement, especially with pacing and kitchen execution.
