I came mid December for their Holiday menu and had a great time. The venue is fairly small so it was crowded but we made it work and the tables seemed to rotate out pretty quickly as this was more of pit stop. The food was tasty and filling as we just shared a couple of the tapas items. My favorite were the burger sliders and fries. Each drink was made quickly, well balanced, and gave all the Christmas vibes. Our server was a rockstar as she handled the chaos in the room with so many people putting in orders and was super sweet. Before we arrived a pipe burst so the entire first floor couldn't be used, adding to the congestion of the upstairs area. The staff handled the emergency very professionally. If you are in downtown Alpharetta, and you haven't stop by Mercantile Social for a drink, you are missing out. The most creative drinks that are so good. The presentation and inventiveness are outstanding! Drinks are typically centered around a theme and the bar is decorated to match the theme. This month it's The Wizard of Oz. We tried the Twister that is made with a brother to resemble a tornado. We also enjoyed If I Only that was served in a heart-shaped glass and a tin hat to represent the tin man, and Paradise,which was made with a vapor bubble that I had to pop before drinking. Each one was really good. You can watch the Wizard of Oz or Wicked that plays on the tvs. Don't forget to look up at the ceiling to see the flying monkeys! **Grinch PopUp** This was my first visit to M Social, for celebratory drinks with my sister. Really doing a great job on the floor level, every nook and cranny being filled with Christmas/Grinch decor. The drinks were a bit pricey, but was to be expected. However, what we did not anticipate was the 20's-30s demographic and dance floor/club vibe upstairs, and practically nil on any decorations whatsoever - definitely not our vibe. Though, we would have stayed, but with only a handful of tables filled to the gills we grabbed a couple of shots and left. Went for the Grinch theme night. We arrived at 6:00 the first floor was super crowded. 2nd floor was not but it was so hot we sat on the little porch. Had the special Cosmo drink. Was not decorated up like I thought it would be just a lemon wedge. Too much $$ for nothing special. The gal and guy next to us ordered a drink the came in a Christmas box. Love! The effort on the décor is impressive and the food was amazing. Small space, but charming - we visited on a weeknight evening so it wasn't overly busy, even had live music. We shared the sliders, salad, Amish grilled cheese and parmesan fries and everything was excellent. Will definitely visit again to try other items, though not sure we can pass up those sliders - best I've ever had. Cocktails are fun and tasty - definitely try the butter beer if it's available, but enjoy the fun of all of them. First time here to visit the Harry Potter popup for my birthday. Very cute decor, fun cocktails, and bar food. I had the sliders and the free elf cocktail that was served in a sock! It is a very small space and we got there right when it opened and was lucky to get a table. Because it is so small I was not able to really see all the details of the decor which was a bummer. While in Alpharetta back in September, I just had dinner with some coworkers nearby at Citizen Soul. The owner told us his brother was playing over at Mercantile Social and to check it out. The night was still young, so we took his advice. Place had going this pop up bar theme from Hocus Pocus, which i thought was really cook. The drinks were phenomenal, especially this smoking tequila drink! The place was cool with its witchy vibes and laid back atmosphere. They do this cool drink + firework thing for people celebrating their birthday, we sang for this random girl who was celebrating that night. The live music made this place even better. At the Harry Potter pop-up, I loved sipping on a butterbeer-inspired drink while being surrounded by floating candles and magical vibes. The place was packed within just 10 minutes of opening, which speaks volumes about how popular and well-loved these events are. Despite the crowd, the staff managed everything smoothly, and the atmosphere remained fun and lively. One small suggestion would be to include a few less sugary cocktail options in the themed menus. While the drinks are fun and creative, it would be great to see a balance with lighter or less sweet options for those who prefer them. Additionally, the order area is located on the entrance side of the bar, which causes a bit of a bottleneck around the door and restroom areas. There is not really a better place to move it so just be patient and enjoy the experience. It's clear the team puts a lot of effort into making these pop-ups special, and it pays off. Mercantile Social's Grinchmas pop-up has become an annual tradition for us! The decor is always 10/10, so festive and fun. It is always packed, so highly recommend arriving early if you plan to get a seat at the bar or a table. The Grinchmas drink menu is super creative and the drinks are great. The 5:30: Jazzercise was a twist on an Espresso Martini, it was so tasty! The bartenders do a great job cranking drinks out despite the crowd. I came here for the Christmas pop up, mainly because my friend who loved the Grinch wanted to come here because it was a grinch themed pop up. Originally this place was going to get one star from me because while we were waiting for our other friends to arrive, myself and my other friend decided to go on and order our drinks. We watched the flow of service at the bar and could tell who should have gone when. Mind you it's not like we were standing behind someone, we were standing right at the bar. There was a group of people that came in dressed like Santa Claus that stood to the right of us, after we had been waiting for a while We should have been next, however, the bartender ignored us and went to the party of Santas. I'm guessing she realized after we walked off that she messed up. I say this because shortly after this, another bartender came to help and asked who needed what. The bartender that ignored us said, "well they've been waiting for a while". Yes I'm going to state the obvious. The santas were Caucasian, my friend and I, African American. You want to give folks the benefit of the doubt until they put their foot in their mouth. Smh Anyway, I had the dumpit drink and the whobilation. One star is for the drinks (they were good) and the guy that actually assisted us. Unfortunately i won't return. This location is out of the way for me as well so the fact that that one interaction was a hot mess made me feel like my visit was a waste of time and gas. Service is everything. Mercantile Social is a cozy pop-up bar with seasonal, rotating themes located in a very historic/old building in the heart of downtown Alpharetta. If you grew up in the area, you may remember it as a wedding dress/antique shop across from the old christmas tree & City Hall. They are open until 2am on weekends, and they offer a great cocktail menu (as well as a seasonal menu, of course). The second level is dedicated for the DJ and the dance floor, and that top floor can quickly get full on a Saturday night. I came to Mercantile Social with the intention to grab a few drinks with friends to celebrate a birthday during the Willy Wonka pop up bar. Got there around 9:30pm on a Saturday and they were slammed. Had to wait for a table so we ordered drinks in the mean time. After waiting about 5 minutes or so a table was cleared off upstairs that we were told was cleaned off but it wasn't... either way we sit down Mind you, we are still waiting on the drinks from downstairs which haven't come yet but they finally get there after about 10 minutes. They had a DJ and a small bar upstairs which was fine. Service was just generally a little small and the DJ was okay. I felt confused like was this place attempting to be a restaurant because I saw people eating food but or is it a bar because people were dancing around upstairs? Not sure. My friends(2 black women) were in line for the restroom, 2 (white women) exited the restroom. My friends took thier turn, while in there someone begins to bang on the door. When they opened the door a large man was yelling at them to get out the restroom and leave the premises. While they were gathering thier belongings and the rest of our friend group(me included), a male and 2 women entered the restroom together. When they exited the restroom the same man that put us out went to them and told them the restroom policy is 1 person at a time and issued them a warning. The only discernable difference between the treatment of three groups of people who all broke the same unclear rule was that the Black Women were immediately exiled with no grace extended. read more

What an experience when you get here. We weren't quite ready for our night to end when we shopped here for drinks after dinner, and I am so happy we did. The drinks we got were all so unique, and much more exciting than a normal cocktail menu. There was live music and the staff were super nice. When we got there, we asked how long seating would be, and the hostess let us know there were currently two open tables and it wouldn't take any time if our group was ready. Came here for the Halloween Hocus Pocus theme pop-up. I got there early on a Tuesday at about 6pm so I was able to get a comfortable spot at the bar. The decor was nice and so were the bartenders. I posted up for a few hours while I waited on my cousin to arrive. All the other regulars were really nice and that added to the ambiance. I ordered calamari to snack on which was just ok. This place is great! They always have different themes and they decorate for whatever holiday is coming up. They also come up with special drinks for these holidays/themes. It is in an old house, that being said it can get a bit crowded here, especially on the weekends. On the weekends, they have a dj upstairs. It's fun but I know for some people it can be a bit boring just because the age group that comes here is around 40. If you do come on the weekend and get inside, you'll need to stay until you actually want to leave. They have to stick to fire code and when one person leaves, the next person waiting outside gets to come in. So their can be a wait to get back in. Overall, it's a great atmosphere read more

Party of 7 people arrived right when they opened, sat down at two tables, moved them slightly closer together. Half of us went to get in line for the bar, the others stayed behind at the tables. Manager comes over- didn't ask questions and gave very little explanation but said "you can't do this" and moved the tables further apart and tells us- "the line for the bar is over there". We were not occupying a larger space than we needed, we were buying multiple drinks- the rudeness was not necessary and honestly inexcusable. In hindsight, we should've gotten up and left. That kind of indifference to the customer and lack of social awareness is ridiculous in my opinion- and yes, everyone has a bad night, there's still no excuse. I regret we spent so much money there. This review is for Mercantile Social's Harry Potter pop-up! " As soon as you walk in you are transported to Hogwarts. The decor included candles and blue lighting, owls, wanted posters and framed wizards all over the walls. Harry Potter was playing on the tv and each table had themed centerpieces. The themed menu included cocktails and shots. We got the snitch and butter beer which were both very tasty! Great, friendly service! I recommend parking at a parking deck and walking around the area since there is so much around downtown Alpharetta! I have been hearing about this bar and trying to come enjoy it for a year. I finally went for their Harry Potter themed event opening Jan 12 and I am very glad I did! They had a plethora of Harry Potter themed drinks, we got there late so we only did a couple of them this time. We got the polyjuice potion shot, which doesn't look appealing but were tasty! I also did the Sorting Hat drink which really did seem magical, it starts out clear and then turns your house color when mixed together! My friend got The Snitch drink which was also very pretty and tasty. I definitely want to go back again on an evening I can get there earlier to be able to try more of the drinks, they have two which can't be served after 9pm, I'm particularly interested in! They did have a DJ and dance floor upstairs, I would recommend loops for anyone who has sensory issues. The crowd was very mixed in ages, and everyone was having a good time! They had security at the door and inside to keep an eye on everyone. There was a man asked to leave after trying to hit on my friend multiple times despite her politely rebuffing him. As a woman, this makes me feel comfortable in the space, knowing that management looks out for their customers safety. I was speaking with the GM, Joel, at then end and he mentioned I could always come alone (since if had taken so long to get there) and I said I wouldn't mind because I saw the space was safe. I actually used to work for the owners, who are legitimately the loveliest and most caring people. You've never met someone that truly cares about your experience more than the owners. However, last night I brought a group of my friends to enjoy some late night drinks for my birthday, and the had the WORST person to have ever be hired into customer service. 1st of all, I simply asked if my old friend, Joe, was working there and he laughed in my face. I just wanted to say hi lol 2nd of all, he was playing on his phone for about 2 solid minutes while 90% of the bar was waiting for a drink. I had to yell to him, which he looked VERY bothered by. I apologize to him, it's just that I know I could do his job at 5x his speed and quality. But thankfully he took my drink order of "1 tropicalia in a can," and proceeded to take 10 minutes with it. But don't worry; he literally wasn't busy at all, but he made sure to to make the customer feel like him doing his job was a burden. He just moves at the speed of a Windows 98' screen saver. 3rd of all, and the reason I typed this up; I went up to the bar to get a random person a drink as a thank you. I put my tropicalia on the beer mat in front of me, and as he's taking forever to get me a new drink, he takes my still half full drink and throws it away. I said, "excuse me, sir, but one of you all just took my half full drink and threw it away." "Sorry, buy another." Me: But, sir, you literally just took an unfinished drink that I paid for and you threw it away. "No begging, buy another. I don't have time for this." I have never wanted to jump over a bar top so bad. Lastly, the bouncer with the dreads, lovely guy, was even supportive of my frustration with this bartender, as he saw everything and even had thoughts on the bartender's role. Apparently the bartender has a lovely ability of making himself often dislikable. Literally the WORST person to interact with people in public, at a family function, or whatever situation causes you the type of misfortune to have to encounter this loser. Overweight, short-haired brunette guy with the gross goatee. Probably 50 but looking 60. I'd say his name, if he wasn't so forgettable as a personality. Do yourselves a favor, and let him go. I love you guys, and I'm happy to delete this as soon as he's gone. Sorry, again, seriously. Super chill place with great atmosphere. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. The interior is well-appointed with dark grain, leather, and other treatments that lend to the space. The smoky drinks are pretty cool -- real wood chips used in a gun that injects the smoke into the box the drinks are delivered in. Interesting variety of cocktails as well made with respectable ingredients. Average drink prices hover around $12-15. There's a small assortment of appetizers which I did not sample but will have to try at some point. Parking is an issue and will require a walk to get there if you're super not early.
