I would recommend ONLY if you're craving a dry bagel. This is a no for me. I could've gotten a better, softer. Flavorful bagel at Starbucks or Einstein bagels. This place was just not good to me, the bacon was extra hard to bite into on my bacon egg and cheese bagel. I also ordered the Asiago Cheese Bagel and it tasted like a plain bagel- I tasted NO Asiago Cheese. My son had the Turkey club, he enjoyed it. For a first time visit to DC, this is not a must for me! First time at Bethesda bagels and loved it. I ordered a turkey sausage, egg, and cheese on everything bagel sandwich and it was so yummy. My husband ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese and he liked his too however his everything bagel had less seasoning than mine - so he was slightly bummed. I will say - we went on a Sunday morning and didn't have to make much of a line and it still took 20+ minutes to get our sandwiches. Looks like this location, at least, receives a lot of pick up orders so just beware. First time visiting this bagel shop and I ordered an onion bagel with tofu veggie cream cheese (I'm vegan). What intrigued my interest in buying a bagel here were their two vegan cream cheese options. The bagel was amazing! I really appreciate the big size and softness of the bagel, which I got toasted, and the generous amount of cream cheese that comes with it. Customer service is great! When I arrived there was a long line but it shortened quickly which I appreciated. I have really liked going to Bethesda Bagels in the past, but unfortunately the wait times here have grown to be too long to continue going here during peak hours. In an attempt to save time, I have done my last two orders via Local by Toast and the orders were not ready when anticipated. And on the second order I wound up giving 45 minutes for the order to be made and still had to wait around for the order to be completed. Also, during prime hours, you may not want to wait in the store as there are way too many people waiting for orders they just placed and those waiting on delivery pick up. Not too mention the people along squeezing in to eat on the little strip counter by the entrance window. It is unfortunate they weren't able to expand into the empty store location next door to expand room for those waiting, allow for more to eat in the store, and expand operations for efficiency. read more

I've ordered from this location 30+ times because I want so badly for it to be my regular breakfast spot before work. It's right by the metro, there's online ordering ahead of time which I usually do the night before, there's a large variety of items on their menu, the prices are okay, and their food and portions are decent. My gripe and the reason why I don't plan on returning again is because there's never anyone available that's solely dedicated to handing off their to go orders, even on extremely busy rush hour mornings. The wait wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that their ventilation poor and I have to start my workday smelling like a toasted everything bagel. Although that might seem appealing, it truly is kind gross when it gets in my hair, clothes, and bag and I can still smell it throughout the day. The staff seem to work as fast as they can, usually doing their best to avoid eye contact when they're just trying to finish their tasks without getting swarmed by the many customers attempting to get their attention, but when there's nobody else around to help, they're on the front lines by themselves surrounded by people like me just trying to get out of there. I would love to go back, but starting off my day upset by what should be a quick and convenient service that's located right next to the metro isn't ideal. I truly believe this location can be so much more efficient and profitable if they can just make this process easier, because everything else is great! read more

The sandwich was huge, but the bagel was dry and the whole thing was fairly bland. If I was going to go again, I'd try a sweet bagel with cream cheese to see if that helped. I lived in Navy Yard for about 3 years and an ex-boyfriend would wake up after we went out for a long night and return with these bagels. There is also everything bagel ingredients in my bagel wrapping. That is shown in pic #2. I think that deserved the last 2 stars to be taken.
