Stayed at the AC hotel for an epic weekend touring the sites .... Me and the fam had breakfast at H+H bagels before trekking museums and successfully kept our bellies full and happy all day. Got a toasted everything bagel with lox spread and tomato that hit the spot. Picky kids got toasted plain butter bagels- one with a sausage patty and both were absolutely delish... Hubby got a cheddar jalapeño bagel w jalapeño cream cheese and lox. My NYC raised hubby said it was life changing. I'm not a spicy girl so I'll just have to take his word for it. I need to learn to have simpler orders for these places the problem is it's a trek to get out to them so I make the most of it. Anyway about the Bagels..the last time I had h&h was years ago and I remember having the same feeling of rushing around very NY. So vibes there. Bagels got the Taylor ham egg and cheese toasted and the nova with the works. With 2 additional bagels plain and sesame. My gripe with the Taylor Ham Egg & Cheese is that why is it so flat?? Also my cheese is like oober melted which had I known I would've said no cheese especially since it's on a jalapeno cheddar bagel. It was okay 8.50 ehh... very urban of you to charge that amount. The Nova..with spicy scallion cream cheese. Overall... I think it's another franchise that has welcomed itself to the nations capital but I still say support local. read more

So excited to see H&H open in DC! We came early Friday morning and ordered right away. It took a little longer than usual to get our food but the employees were very apologetic. I got the spicy sausage egg and cheese on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. It also comes with spicy scallion cream cheese, pepper jack cheese and spicy southwest sauce. It was so good! The spicy scallion cream cheese may be some of the best spreads I've had. It had a really good kick to it, and worked well with the sausage and egg on the sandwich. It's a messy sandwich but delicious! We also got the regular egg and cheese sandwich which was ok. We definitely liked the spicy sausage one more. There's some seating inside, so we were able to grab a table and finish our sandwiches inside. Overall this was a great spot and we'll definitely be back! read more

They have options that other shops don't (pumpernickel, asiago). The breakfast sandwich was ok but the components again weren't the best - thin sausage patty, nothing notable about the eggs/cheese. Does the trick but again there are better options around. H&H offers a decent a bagel in a city severely lacking in good NY-style bagels. I was able to order online, though there was no line for my early morning pickup, so I also placed an in-store order. I love that I can get a pumpernickel bagel. The lox was very good, so I appreciated that. I didn't notice any sable, though. I also enjoyed their nitro cold brew. I think the bagel itself is a little lacking in flavor. Staff was extremely friendly and they have a decent about of seating. I'd return if in the area. read more

Ok so I've never been to the original so I don't know how it compares but overall I was pretty happy! Had the spicy sausage egg and cheese on Asiago and I thought it was great. The Jalepeno cream cheese really was the star in making this great. It also is incredibly messy so it definitely is not an order and way why you walk bagel but luckily they have some seating.And it was about 10 dollars which is pretty cheap for DC. The service was super friendly. I came on a Saturday around 1 or 2 and didn't have to wait long for my food. Def check this place out. read more

I ordered H&H to go via delivery, so I do not have a review of the in-store experience. I'll re-review when I do. I decided to get the everything wheat bagel with the spicy scallion cream cheese, with cucumber and tomato. The star of the show was the spicy scallion cream cheese - yes, it's actually spicy! Good kick, the tomato and cucumber balanced the spice well. The bagel itself was a good combination of firmness and soft. A relatively good size as well. The iced coffee was also fantastic. No. But id get a bagel. Probably not worth going out of your way. But better than some of the other popular for no reason overpriced options round here. Honestly, one big disappointment. The only I liked about my bagel was that it had a sweetness to it which I'm not used to. I think that's how they make them in Montreal. But the bagel was mid. The cream cheese was flavorless, I got the tofu one. I order the LEO with smoked salmon, egg and onions. The onions were diced which I didn't fancy. Also, it's prepared like an omelet. As a bagel-lover, I was super excited when I randomly stumbled upon an Instagram post announcing this new bagel shop was opening--and that it hails from New York. Just to preface, I don't have high standards for bagels--if it's not rock hard, I will happily eat it! I visited on their grand opening day, and all things considered, things ran pretty smoothly. The staff had to deal with a few difficult customer situations (one person insisting they placed an online order and just wanted a quick plain bagel with cream cheese, another asking for a free tote because they waited in line with everyone else, etc.), but what I presume was the manager handled it all with patience and professionalism. Shamefully, I was that person who forgot to add tubs of cream cheese to my order and had to ask for them at the register (I apologized profusely). The employee he asked to grab them for me forgot, so I had to go back up and ask again. Surprisingly, the manager still remembered exactly which flavors I ordered--despite helping dozens of other people in between. The gentleman who took my order was kind, and honestly, every employee I encountered was friendly and helpful. The space is on the smaller side, but there's still a decent amount of seating for a quick bite. Now, onto the bagel--it was amazing. I got an Asiago bagel with Scallion CC, and it was soft, perfectly chewy (without hurting your jaw!), and toasted just right. I personally love a generous schmear, and they definitely delivered. You can tell they make their cream cheese in-house--the scallion flavor was strong in the best way, and it was packed with chunks of fresh scallion. I also grabbed a dozen bagels to-go (Everything, Jalapeño Cheddar, Asiago, and Blueberry), along with tubs of Scallion and Veggie CC. My family raved about the Veggie CC (which I haven't tried yet). Unfortunately, I realized later in the day that the two Blueberry bagels were missing. While a little disappointing, I technically paid for 10--H&H's "dozen" is a buy-10-get-2-free deal--so I wasn't shorted on what I paid for. As expected with anything in DC, parking isn't the easiest. That said, street parking is available on all surrounding streets + there is a lot right next to them (though I can't imagine how much they charge for parking). I don't make trips into DC often (I truly hate driving in the city), but I'd happily go out of my way for these bagels. Worth it! read more

I went there during the opening week on 2 separate trips. the good - Convenient location, bagels are good, online ordering is helpful. the so-so - They are new and have some kinks to work through with the instore ordering/paying process. The flow isn't right and gets jammed waiting at the register for your food to be ready. Got a bagel with cream cheese and the spread was very light, too light really. I was so excited when I heard H&H was coming to the DMV. I drove up there this morning from Alexandria first thing. Off the bat, the restaurant was really laid out nice, and the staff was friendly. First disappointment came when they don't have Salt Bagels? I was disappointed. I ordered 1/2 dz bagels with 1/2 lb regular Cream Cheese. The gentle scooped into a container and put it in the bag. When I got back to the house, I actually weighed the container and it was only .7 oz container and all. Right there dropped another star. I also weighed the bagel and it was 4oz. THAT IS NOT A "NEW YORK" STYLE BAGEL. Once I got past the disappointment of the underweight cream cheese, and "New York" style bagel, I actually tasted what they had to offer. It was not bad, a little sweet for some odd reason, but not her write home about. It looked and tasted more like a commercial bagel you get at Safeway. Missing that chewy texture and heft of a good bagel, not much better than a grocery store bagel. Do not go here until they get their shit together. The staff was entirely overwhelmed, they had absolutely no system to producing the bagels and servicing customers in line. We waited 30 minutes from the time we ordered until we got the bagel and watched multiple other people get their orders.
