This diner is located in a strip mall in the Oak Ridge area. The atmosphere is very dated but I was very surprised how large it is inside. I tried the early bird special. Open faced turkey with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. The mixed veggies were definitely of the frozen kind and appeared freezer burned. The turkey was very thinly sliced. Almost like cold cut style. A salad came with it. That was the best part. Rice pudding was good too. Service was pleasant. read more

Great Diner, my family's go-to Diner. There is food for everyone. The staff is always friendly and veterans get a discount.

Very nice new building but the food is lackluster, especially breakfast. I've had breakfast lunch and dinner here since the opening and gotta say I'm pretty disappointed. Really wanted it to be a good place to add to the list especially after waiting 2.5 years to be built. Although the staff and service is good, they need to step up their food game. Breakfast was pretty bad. Pancakes dry and tasteless. Home fries no seasoning and blah. Just some paprika. Cheap flavorless bacon. Eggs were too undercooked and runny/slimy. Lunch is was a steak sandwich. Not terrible but not great. Bread was just ok and the steak wasn't bad. Mashed potatoes were half box half real. Fake tasting lemonade made for a disappointing Arnold Palmer. Plastic cups are a sign of a cheap restaurant too. Dinner was actually pretty good though. I had the shredded chicken tacos. Definitely worth it that visit. All in all like I said it's disappointing to have a bad breakfast at an NJ diner. Been here a few times, mostly breakfast and twice for lunch. Convenient cause it's close to home. Never had a bad meal and they seem to be consistent with their food. Located in the Acme shopping plaza next to Franks pizzeria they seem to be holding their own. There's no lack of eatery competition in this area, 4 pizzerias 2 Chinese restaurants and McDonald's. And a couple of higher end Italian restaurants. The Blue Ocean buffet was at this location years ago and when they closed Betsy Ross opened. read more

My husband, my 6 year old and I went to have dinner and got to the diner at 5:20. Our waitress took our order and at the same time a party of 8-10 in a different section came in behind us. At 6pm my daughter started complaining how hungry she was and I was reassuring her the food will be here any minute. Finally at 6:20 I was fed up...my daughter needs to eat and all of a sudden the table of 8-10 behind us that came in after us are getting their food!!!! Wtf...I get up speak to the girl at the front and they say ok let me check...we didn't even wait and tell my husband and daughter let's go...we left and as we are outside the owner comes out...doesn't apologize and says what's the problem and my husband says we have been here for an hour and a half and the large table.who comes in gets their food first...his response..oh we r swamped with to go orders and its the way the tickets come in....r u kidding!! I can go to a 5 star restaurant and get fed within 30 minutes....was so anxiously waiting for this diner to finally open and this is the experience we get. Was pleased to see this diner open in Oak Ridge, as our food options are relatively limited. Was hoping for a classic Greek style diner experience & this is not it. Tried this place twice and was disappointed both times. Wanted blueberry pancakes, one time but they have either plain pancakes or over the top sugary types with things like fruity pebbles cereal or dessert syrups, whipped cream etc. How difficult would it be to keep a bag of frozen blueberries in the freezer to toss on top of a few pancakes before turning them over on the grill? Had the steak sandwich and it was loaded with chewy inedible gristle. Looking at the menu , every substitution costs a significant amount more (ie greens instead of fries increases the cost by ~ $3). We get that costs are increasing for restaurants, but the quality of the food to price ratio doesn't resonate with us. I guess that we will drive further afield to get our diner experience, alas. read more

Went to this unassuming diner in a strip mall with friends for dinner but we all decided to have breakfast (the best thing about diners!). I ordered the apple cinnamon walnut pancakes and although I can rarely finish an entire plate of pancakes, there was not a crumb left when I was done. Husband had the corned beef hash, his favorite go to breakfast meal. Good but not the best hash (but made better with an extra egg). Four of us ate for $40, very reasonable. read more

Great things to reorder are eggs over easy served with Homefries and toast all day long, short stack of butter milk pancakes, Hamburger deluxe, house salad with or without grilled chicken breast, chicken Marsala, chicken Francaise, Penne pasta Vodka with grilled chicken breast and the rice pudding. I have had a few items that were not wow and I wont order them again but I am a fan of this "Diner". We were in town visiting over Thanksgiving. Our waitress was incredibly rude to our family and to both families on each side of the booth we were sitting in. Word for word out of the waitresses mouth: "you can pick them out! You should've told me. I'll take it in the back, but all we are going to do is pick them out!" "What do you want to drink?" Young boy starts to order his meal - super loud and insanely rude "WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DRINK??? And how old are you? You are definitely not ordering from the kids menu!" The Betsy Ross Diner is the realest deal in a state filled with real deal diners. Their food, service and ambience is second to none. Service is friendly and attentive and the food is incredible. I tried this place out on two separate occasions. I must say-- I was pleasantly surprised. The first time I ordered the Belgium waffle with eggs and a side of home fries. The waffle was fresh and soft and the home fries were delicious! The second time i ordered the London broil with mushroom sauce and mash potatoes. That was with-out-a-doubt one of the best dishes I've eaten at a diner. I notice some of the negative reviews about the servers. I believe the place has been open for only a few months so I'm sure they're slowly weeding out the good employees from the bad. Pretty average diner food. Everything we have eaten there is decent or slightly above average. Their menu is also typical of what you would expect at a diner. Gyro, fries, burger, wings. Great wings. Breaded, which is ok sometimes. Worked out here. Big, crisp and great sauce. No complaints at all. The gyro was good, as were the fries. Burger was cooked medium as desired. Fries needed a bit more salt. Sure you could add it, but always best to dust em' right outta the fryer. Service was fine, prices were fine and menu looked varied enough. Decor is meh...but whatever. It's a diner. No charm but not offensive. I have eaten here probably close to 2 dozen times. The food is generally good, especially the breakfast food and tuna melts. I only had one meal that I was extremely disappointed in, but a 95% success rate isn't bad. In general the service is ok, but it depends on who is serving you. I won't name names, but there is one waitress in particular that I've only seen there during the day that really ruins the experience. I've thought about walking out after being seated in her section, but I've decided to not make a scene and give a 2nd, 3rd and 4th chance... Every time she delivers the same poor service. She acts like she is being forced to work there at gun point. Forget about getting your coffee refilled or asked how things are going. She takes your order and then disappears to chat with the other staff or watch tv. Luckily the most recent time I was in there the other waitress on duty was nice enough to come around with coffee and then clear our plates and bring us our check. So in general it's worth stopping in if you are close by, but I wouldn't go out of my way. It's convenient which is why it continues to get my business at all. read more

If you are looking for your typical Jersey diner, this ain't it. Facility: This "diner" moved into a space previously occupied by two failed Asian restaurants. The remodel looks nice with all new tables, booths, etc.. Overall, floor space is small by diner standards with only a handful of counter seats. Food: I have eaten here four time; three times for dinner and once for breakfast. Given that the place is new I wanted to give it a chance to work out the kinks. Unfortunately, after a fourth visit, I remain unimpressed with the food overall. For the dinners, I had a turkey burger platter where the burger was overcooked and dry and the fries were disappointing. I had the buffalo chicken wrap which simply looked to contain frozen breaded chicken with some buffalo chicken sauce and lettuce. The blue cheese dressing came in one tiny little plastic container and the fries again were soft and not that crispy texture diners are famous for. Third time I ordered a cheese burger. I opted not to go for the fires based upon past experience. The burger was overcooked and on the dry side. For the one breakfast I had an omelet that was dry and while not bad, not appealing either. The home fries were bland - just potatoes and no spices. I was expecting them to be served with onions in them as is usual at the diners I have been accustomed to. If you are looking for good diner food there are a lot of better choices a few minutes down Rt 23. However, if you want a quick dinner that's close by but just OK, then give this one a try. read more
