Danielle took very good care of me and went BEYOND my expectations. I usually (in the past) had to bring my vehicle back just after service for numerous reasons and the last two times (because of the thoroughness of Danielle) I had no problems. Holly in customer service is also incredible. She took good care of me when there was a problem. She is understanding and very nice. I'm very impressed. I brought my Mercedes GLC to Betten Imports when I first moved back from Fort Lauderdale, and unfortunately, my experience was a huge disappointment. I was accustomed to the level of service I received at the Mercedes dealership in Fort Lauderdale--professional, respectful, fair, and genuinely helpful. I assumed that same standard came with owning a luxury brand. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Betten. From my first visit in 2023, I constantly felt like I was being upsold on services, and communication was difficult. They were hard to reach, not particularly helpful, and the overall customer service was lacking. At first, I thought maybe it was just a bad experience, but unfortunately, each subsequent visit was just as frustrating. Thankfully, I eventually got rid of my Mercedes and no longer had to deal with them. Unfortunately, we recently found ourselves dealing with Betten again after my partner purchased a 2021 G-Wagon from them with reasonably low mileage. From the very first phone call, the experience was incredibly disappointing. The staff were rude and immediately seemed to assume that we couldn't afford the vehicle, even laughing at us during the conversation. My partner decided to go in anyway, saw the vehicle in person, and ultimately purchased it. Just THREE days after taking ownership, the check engine light came on. The vehicle ended up needing approximately $15,000 in repairs, which thankfully Betten agreed to cover. Now, six months into ownership, we brought the G-Wagon back in for routine maintenance, only to find out it needs another $15,700 in repairs. Betten offered to cover $2,500 "for good measure." This is incredibly concerning for a vehicle that was supposedly thoroughly inspected before being sold. We're now looking at approximately $30,000 worth of repairs within six months of purchasing the vehicle. What makes this even more frustrating is that the issues aren't just about the cost. It's the entire experience--from the initial phone call, to the way we were treated when purchasing the vehicle, to the repeated mechanical issues and lack of confidence that the vehicle was actually inspected as thoroughly as it should have been. For a luxury dealership, I expect a much higher standard of customer service, transparency, attention to detail, and accountability. Unfortunately, our experiences with Betten Imports have consistently fallen far short of that standard. Between my experience with my GLC and now my partner's experience with the G-Wagon, I can't recommend this dealership. Two Mercedes vehicles, two very disappointing experiences. read more

I'd like to start by saying that we have purchased 3 different vehicles from Betten Imports. My beef is not with the sales staff. It has been an entirely different experience with the Volvo service department. Currently the two service advisors are great, Andy is very knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Brittany is over-the-top nice and very warm. However, it is damn near impossible to get someone to return your call if you leave a message for them. It's also impossible to get someone on the phone. The most effective form of communication seems to be texting. But that obviously cuts off when business hours are over. I want to explain my extremely low rating. Beginning in January of this year, I had my car in for its 120k mile servicing. I came home from that servicing with a slew of repairs that needed to be made, ball joints replaced, air filters replaced, timing belt, and the list goes on. The estimate was somewhere between $6,000-$7000. I went ahead with the ball joints as they were noticeably loose, and some of the smaller things. I then scheduled to have my timing belt replaced in March, so I could break up the expenses a bit. Fast-forward to March when I bring my car in for the timing belt replacement. I'm now noticing a bit of a hesitation when I accelerate aggressively (say I'm merging onto the highway or something). When I pick my car up, they tell me they did the timing belt and replaced the spark plugs to fix the hesitation. And that it's driving well now. It is not. Within a day or two I notice the hesitation is back. Obviously I'm frustrated, but I also have a lot going on, so a few weeks later, I call back. They are booking out into June, but they tell me that they have a cancellation on May 23, so I take it. To make a very long story short, I was supposed to drive to Chicago the next day but after not hearing from them all day, and trying to get a hold of them like mad after I got out of work, it turns out they hadn't figured out the issue until the very end of the day and needed to order parts to replace it. Now, it's Tuesday after Memorial Day (they've had the car since Thursday). I approved the repair of the fuel injectors on Friday, but didn't hear back from them. I finally received a text saying that they needed more time. On Wednesday I picked the car up and I kid you not, I drove 5 miles from my home and the hesitation started up again. When I called back the next day the response I got was, "Are you sure? We drove it extensively and it never recurred." So, I asked to speak to the service manager because at this point, I'm pretty livid. The service manager, Eric Allen does not give a good first impression. I try to explain my frustration to him, and he eventually comes around. He tells me that he personally will follow the progress of my vehicle, make sure I get a loaner car, and will cover the cost of the repairs. I should only be speaking to him from here on out because he's on top of it. I have this loaner car for FOUR WEEKS. I hear nothing for the first two, but after leaving messages for both service advisors and Eric Allen, I receive a 2 line text saying they are still getting the misfires. After another week and I half, I reach out again, and am told they need to borescope into the cylinders. Then, at 3:30 on Friday, I get a text from Andy (still no word from Eric) saying that the cylinders are scored and that the engine needs to be replaced. I ask for a phone call in return, but I'm also headed into work so when I don't hear back right away, I actually say that I would rather talk on Monday so I had time to research. When I do speak to Andy, I request a meeting with the service manager as I have a lot of questions. After doing some research I learned that there are other tests that should have been done. After putting me off for a bit, I do finally receive a call from Eric Allen. And when I tell you that this man started off on the defensive, I mean that he was completely rude and unprofessional from the get-go. He clearly hadn't spent a minute of his time following the progress of my car, had Andy in the background basically telling him everything, and when I questioned why he was so angry, he yelled exasperatedly that I should "be talking to his service advisor and not him." Which of course pissed me off, because he had previously told me that he would take care of this. At this point, I was completely done. I picked up my Volvo as-is and returned the loaner car (which they inspected in front of me like I had damaged it somehow). I do want to talk about one more thing. When digging through all the repairs I've had done at Betten, I found the paperwork for a piston ring repair that Volvo covered in 2023. It turns out they replaced my timing belt with that repair. So the timing belt didn't need to be done again. I did bring this up to Eric Allen and after some discussion he did agree to refund it to me. It makes me curious about what else I've paid for but didn't actually need. read more

Liars, cheaters and incompetents are the kindest words I could use to describe this team. Beware -this is a pit of vipers that will s(p)it in your mouth and s(h)it in your lunchbox the moment your check clears the bank. Like politicians once they get your vote. You mean nothing. I purchased my second Mercedes in 12 months just two days ago. The first Mercedes was brand new. Betten Imports were insistent that they would provide excellent service. We HATED the car, but my/our grandson loved it, so we sold it to him for the price of a Ford mini-truck we had our eyes on. He needed some assistance resetting the Mercedes app on his phone, but we had called Betten Imports and told them about the transfer of ownership. "Send him in!" they responded. They wouldn't help him. The service department wouldn't even talk to him, questioning his ownership even though he had the paperwork in hand. Last week we saw a small car we liked, and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt on a 2022 car. Just off lease, it had a couple of issues. They couldn't find the second key for the car, and the salesman Dan E. said he would make sure it was taken care of by contacting Chris in the Service department. There were two missing covers in the back seat, and he said that would be taken care of as well. (NOT) Forward to Saturday morning, and the key issue was dismissed with the instructions to contact Chris on Monday and it would be taken care of. We had the same conversation with the financial officer while finalizing the paperwork. He said if we had any issues to let him know. Monday morning I called Service and explained the issue. He responded with a lot of double talk, and said he would call back. He called back, said he spoke to the salesman and they decided not to cover the key, and he would order a new one for $990.00. Maybe they only cheat senior citizens. I'm 71 and my husband is over 80. Don't go there if you value good service and an honorable staff. read more

Customer service. Honoring a car manufacturer warranty. If you own a Volvo take the time and drive to another Volvo dealership. I go to Crippen Volvo in Lansing where they honor the Volvo warranty and return phone calls. I moved from out of state and all my local friends make the drive to Lansing or Traverse City for service and problems. Just because Betten Imports might be the only Volvo in GR doesn't mean you need to settle for crummy service with bad attitudes. read more

I went in for a routine oil change, only to have my Mercedes damaged in the car wash ($1,800 insurance claim). The dealership took zero accountability -- and the service manager Eric Allen even refused to come out of his office to speak to me. I asked for a reply on the customer service survey and have never been contacted. Disgusting. After 15+ years as a customer, I will never step foot in this dealership again. Update: Eric did call me immediately upon seeing this review. I respect his sense of urgency and appreciate the overdue apology. I've always taken my Jettas to a VW dealership for maintenance services. Over the last couple years Betten VW service department has failed to properly reinstall the drain bolt after an oil change. The last time they put a completely different drain bolt and also tried to deny any responsibility by claiming that they "put it in the report that I brought it in with a leak". This time their mistake got oil on our new garage floor and driveway. They told me they would send a cleaning company to come out and clean it up but they failed to tell me that the only tool the cleaning company had was a giant pressure washer. It worked for the driveway but it will NOT cut it in my partially dry walled garage. I have sent text messages and placed multiple phone calls and someone was supposed to call me back 3 days ago. I haven't received any contact back yet, clearly. read more

After complain about the miss diagnosis of my Crash Avoidance system. I am still waiting for my alternature to be replaced. My car had to be towed and sat for 4 days before it was ever looked at. It saddens me to report that my experience with Betten started out great in 2018, so much so that I bought a second vehicle from them in 2020, but it's been downhill from there. Most recently, my four and a half year old XC90, that I meticulously maintain and serviced with Betten, left me broke down on the side of the road. So, things happen mechanically, no harm there. May be failed turbo or head gasket, but I assume because Betten service can't tell me, and they aren't sure they can even look at it for 30 days. I called Betten Volvo service from the side of the road, and the disappointments started there. I received immediate explanations on why Betten may not be able to look at my warrantied vehicle for a month, that they had no solutions for loaner or alternative transport. They gave me a number to global Volvo so I could arrange a tow. I was also told at this time the vehicle was not under warranty, when I had a copy of the warranty Betten sold me with the vehicle brand new. I went to Volvo the next morning to find my vehicle had been left unlocked in the parking lot all night. The service rep was very kind, but had no idea when they could help me. I called daily for a week, and was never given a glimpse of a solution, even after escalating and meeting face to face with the director of service, Eric. Eric also let me know there was no one at Betten who could help me, and he had dozens of customers in the same boat, and I wasn't special. I have a handful of other poor experiences related to service since 2020 that I have overlooked but things are stacking up! The people working there seem kind enough, but ill equipped to provide the service that drew me in a few years back. Jason in particular has always been helpful, but Eric successfully made me feel like I am not wanted as a customer. I actually had to tow my vehicle from Betten, to another garage, in order to ensure I get my vehicle looked at within 30 days of breakdown since Betten is not be able to look at it. This vehicle is under 100% warranty that was sold to me by Betten. I can't even begin to express the disappointment regarding how Betten handled my warranty kindly, so I won't try. Don't know whether to laugh....or cry, but I do know that Betten and I seem to be in agreement that if I need my car back this month, it need to go somewhere else, even though no one knows what's wrong with it read more

I would give a zero if I could. Brought my car in for a recall. Made the appointment online, communcated with the service writer and gave additional information needed for my recall. Important to note this recall is a safety recall with a do not drive stated in the letter from MB. I told them I was gonna do an after hours drop off and did so dropping my car off little before 7am. I then emailed at around lunch asking for an update and was told my appoint is listed as a no show. I said I left my keys and they said they do not have them. Turns out hours later was told they found them as someone did not check my car in and the recall can not be completed before end of day. Told to come get my car or leave it. I said that is not acceptable and I need to get my kids picked up. Said a loaner would be appropriate in this case since they are the ones that misplaced my keys. Said they will not do that and even though it is a safety I can still come get my car. They did deliver back to my office but made zero effect to make me feel comfortable. So now I'm my car with my kids driving a possible unsafe vehicle released by them! read more

Once you buy the car don't expect anything else. Rude salesmen, service is crap, overall a very disappointing experience with my first Mercedes. Sadly, it will be my last. I had a Lincoln before this one and service was top notch. If this car needs service it's a pain to get a loaner, they charge for everything and it's a big ordeal for them to pickup / drop off your vehicle. I had a great experience buying a used car here with my "tocayo" Tony Rodriguez. Once we made our decision and arranged on the price, he made us our shopping experience simple and without any hassle or concerns. He explained us the whole process, our options, and then let us drive the car that we liked. The other benefit is that he is fluent in Spanish, which as you can imagine made our technical questions easier to ask and then for us to understand. I really liked some of the staff at betten imports (Brooke, Adam) but unfortunately I had a very rude interaction with their manager Eric Allen. While trying to figure out a resolution to fixing something on my car, he decided he didn't want to talk anymore and abruptly hung up. Throughout the call, he was rude, inappropriate, and extremely disrespectful. With him being in the automotive industry for 20 years, it shocked me how he treated a customer. After getting 4 new vehicles from VW they could care less about customer loyalty. They are the only ones that service my vehicle and after getting new tires at $1400+ a year and a half ago (they were supposed to last 70K miles) the 2 front ones are completely wore out. They have been driven 12K miles, they refuse to assist and I even got yelled at by Anderson "Andy" Anschutz when I asked to speak to a manager-he refused to let me speak to a manager and hung up on me when I stated I would be writing a review. However, when presented with evidence that a problem remained after they serviced the car they proceeded to gaslight the customer. Their solution to their inability was to then tell the customer to go find a different service center. I suppose one could consider that "exceptional" advice. I was worried seeing a lot of negative reviews on Betten Imports but being the only Mercedes-Benz dealership and service in town, I took my AMG in for the convenience. I've been there 4 times and the last 2 times, I've had Brooke as my service advisor. She was very engaging and understanding of the needs of my vehicle and gave me very detailed status updates on my AMG while it was in the shop. I felt very comfortable leaving my AMG vehicle in her care. I highly recommend Betten Imports Mercedes-Benz and give Brooke more than 5 stars for her customer service and professionalism. read more

I have had vehicles serviced at Bettens, for years. My service writer (Jason) was a big reason that I decided to stick with the Volvo brand. I was disappointed to find that he is no longer there but that didn't change my mind. After looking on line for months, I started working with John (Ortegon), in used cars. I had great customer service and a great experience with John. Although he steered me in the direction of a car other than what I originally looked at, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. My experience buying a Golf GTI from Will Swets was one I will always remember. I found this awesome car by Googling VW Golf GTI on Sunday, 5/21. Immediately on Monday morning, I receive an email from Will asking when I would like to come in for a test drive. Will stayed late on Monday so I could come after work for a test drive. I fell in love with this car and can tell you the test drive process was super easy and comfortable (It is usually stressful and weird). Will worked with me on Tuesday/Wednesday to gather information to make a purchase. I came in Thursday morning, my car was waiting, the paperwork was already complete and I just needed to sign! THEN, They provided my Name, address, personal cell phone number, and my vehicle information, including VIN to the driver whole wrecked MY CAR who proceeded to pass it on to his insurance company, and I get a call from THEM! UNBELIEVABLE! My information "should" be protected by this company, by law, instead they pass it out freely to whomever asks. This customer then made false claims to his insurance company, telling them directly that he had permission from me (by name) taking several hours out of my time to correct his lie While still wondering, how did he get my information and what is he going to do with it. To add insult to injury, Mr. Betten dodged phone calls and ignored attempts to reach him until I showed up in person to discuss and demanded to see him. There still, a month later has not been a complete resolution to the bill, insurance claim, my depreciation or even an apology. WHO KEEPS SOMEONE'S CAR OVERNIGHT WITHOUT TALKING TO THEM? BETTEN IMPORTS DOES!!! I Wish zero stars were available! I scheduled service and they came to get my car from my house, sounds great, right? This is the only reason I gave them another chance after terrible experiences before. Well I should have known better. They said my car needed more items completed, ok that's fine but they didn't call me they only texted/emailed at 10:40 this morning. I didn't see it until around 2:30 (because I work!) I responded and approved the services. Well I go to my dentist appointment and come back and work and lose track of time. Yep a little after 6 I try to call them and they are closed. WHO KEEPS SOMEONE'S CAR OVERNIGHT WITHOUT TALKING TO THEM FOR NORMAL MAINTENANCE AGAIN I ASK ? Well now you know who does!! I only scheduled normal maintenance items and they took my car in the morning. I know it was later (2:30PM when they close at 6PM) that I okayed the additional services and if they couldn't get it done before the end of the day that was fine but I needed my car! I have a 2018 Mercedes Benz that I purchased from Betten, I have had my car serviced only once at another Mercedes dealership when on vacation in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the service was A1. Recently my engine light came on. I called Betten and left a message on Thursday, July 23rd, recording says I would get a return call. No call. I called today, July 28th, left a message, this time a gentleman took my name and assured me I would get a call back. No call. Isn't returning calls to customers important to future sales. Not happy at all. My engine light is STILL on and I am taking my car into Betten on Friday, July 31st in the morning and maybe someone will give me the time of day. Check engine light came on this weekend in my wife's Volvo XC70. Which up until today had been serviced exclusively at Betten since we moved to GR in 2016. I stopped by dealership this morning and asked if they could check to code to make sure the car was safe to drive. Side note, she's 9 months pregnant and primary transporter of our toddler. Imagine my disappointment when the service host said, "No, sorry we're too busy." I drove down 28th street to O'Reilly auto parts and it took the gentleman 3 minutes to run the diagnostic. Great service, my wife ask service department how much it would cost to fix some rust on our granddaughters 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, they said Volkswagen would more than likely cover it, and they did , we were real happy with the work that the body shop they used (Koenes Body shop) the car looked great!!
