I booked packing and moving services - two people for packing, and three people for moving. Originally I had booked these services on two consecutive days, but had to reschedule about a week before the original move date, and was assured it would be no problem and that the packing and moving could be done on the same day, that it would be fine. I was asked to chose a specific time window for both of these services, with packing starting at 10 AM, and I was super clear that the move would be a three person job, and that two guys were not enough. I received a confirmation for three guys with a truck arriving for the moving portion of the job at 1 PM. At 7:30 am on the day of the move, the people who were coming to pack called and said they were on their way. When I explained that the time I was told was 10 AM, I was accused of "rescheduling" and "changing the time" which was completely false - I was asked to pick a specific time window when I booked the job Then, shortly after the guys arrived at 10, I was informed that there would only be the two of them with the truck they had arrived in which was obvious even to me that it would not fit everything, and that the third person with an appropriately sized truck who I had booked and was supposed to arrive at 1 PM for the moving portion of the job was not coming because guys had called in sick. The truck was indeed too small, and another guy ended up coming in on his day off and loading a dresser into his personal vehicle to move it. Then I was accused by the owner of not giving an accurate inventory, which is false (and if the packing had happened the day before the move as it was suppose to any issues with that would have been identified). It ended up being a 12 hour nightmare during a heat wave, and I had to make two additional trips the following day because they didn't even move all of my stuff. And then the owner tried to charge me more than I'd been quoted on top of it when it was all over. At no point has anyone at the company taken any responsibility, and instead tied to blame me because I had rescheduled the date a week prior. I even called the morning of and spoke to Antonio, who assured me there would be three guys coming at 1, which obviously turned out to be totally false. The guys who did the work were great, but despite that the experience with the owner and office staff was so bad that I would warn anyone to not expect to get what you're quoted, and to plan for a bait and switch. read more

UPDATE: I just received a check for a piece of glass they broke during our move along with a letter that if I deposit the check (for something they broke) that I would have to remove any negative reviews and cannot post any future negative reviews. this is not legal! please please please do not use this moving company!! We contracted Better Choice Moving for our move after being quoted a price based on a specific number of hours with a three-person crew. Based on the inventory I provided in advance, the quoted timeframe seemed completely reasonable. The move started off very well. All three movers worked efficiently together during the first part of the day. However, after a few hours, two of the three movers noticeably slowed down while the lead mover continued working consistently. What should have been completed within the estimated timeframe ended up taking 11 hours--approximately four hours longer than expected. I have no issue paying for additional time when it is genuinely needed. My concern is paying for extra hours that appeared to result from two workers not maintaining a reasonable pace. The lead mover himself commented to us throughout the day that the other two movers were working slowly. Yet when I spoke with Antonio afterward, he claimed the lead mover said the exact opposite--that we were trying to rush the crew. Ironically, if we were trying to hurry them up, that only reinforces the fact that the pace had slowed significantly. I provided an accurate and detailed inventory before the move, so there should not have been any surprises regarding the amount of work involved. Once we arrived at the new house, my daughter even began helping because it was getting so late. Initially, she was told she could not assist due to insurance reasons. However, after she insisted on helping, the movers noticeably picked up their pace. By that point, it was after 9:00 p.m. To make matters worse, not everything was even moved. We are now left having to hire someone else to transport the remaining belongings. When I received the invoice the following day, I was surprised by how much higher it was than the original estimate. I called and left Antonio a voicemail asking him to return my call the next day. When I never received a call back, I contacted him myself. Instead of listening to my concerns, Antonio immediately became defensive. His responses were essentially, "We've never had a problem with those workers," and, "That's not possible." He then attempted to make me feel guilty by saying that if I continued with my complaint, the employees could lose their jobs. That was completely inappropriate. How a company manages its employees is not the customer's responsibility, nor should a customer be discouraged from providing honest feedback because of potential consequences for staff. Throughout the conversation, Antonio repeatedly interrupted me, spoke over me, and essentially implied that I was being dishonest because there had never been complaints about those particular movers. That level of customer service was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We also requested to speak with the owner and were told we would receive a call. That was yesterday, and we still have not heard from anyone. After reading other reviews, I noticed a pattern of similar complaints regarding jobs taking much longer than expected. While I can't say whether that was intentional, our experience certainly raises concerns. At the end of the day, my issue is not paying for additional time when it is justified. My issue is being expected to pay for several extra hours when the work was noticeably inefficient, the job was left incomplete, and legitimate concerns were met with defensiveness instead of professionalism. While my original review still holds true, the owner Cameron gave me a call, listened to my situation and frustrations, promised to address the issues and refunded my credit card fee and 30 minutes overtime. He was very apologetic and I appreciated him calling me. TLDR: They charged my credit card without authorization, charged me a $65 credit card fee, repeatedly hung up on me, and never called me back. I asked for a refund for the credit card fee and some of the overtime hours because of an issue and was told I would need to speak to the owner but "he's a busy man, probably in 3 weeks". And now every time I call it goes directly to voicemail yet when I called from my husband's phone it was answered right away. Find another moving company, this one is not worth the stress. The details: The movers showed up on time, but that's the only positive I can give. The admin/management, specifically Antonio, is a nightmare to work with. After the move I was informed of a credit card fee so I wrote a check instead for the total I was given at the end of the move ($1,920). With all the chaos I accidentally wrote the check wrong (the number was correct but the written out number didn't match - honest mistake). I received a call from Tyler the next morning who left a voicemail stating the issue and that I could mail a new check. I called back in the afternoon to apologize and state that I was mailing a new check ASAP and instead Antonio picked up and stated I had already been charged $2,222 on my credit card and the transaction was closed. I asked him to reverse the transaction since I never authorized it and that I would send a check instead and he told me he couldn't do that. After further conversation he stated he was getting another call, would call me back, and hung up on me. The next day he never called, so I called him back and asked him to walk me through the math of how we got to $2,222. Only then did he send me an actual invoice. I understand the extra hour charge and was fine paying it but wanted my credit card fee reimbursed and again he "got another call" stated he would call me back and hung up on me. That night my mattress fell through the bed frame. Upon inspection we saw that the bars holding it were not screwed into the frame and so when they shifted the mattress fell through. We went back to our old house the next day and found the screws on a shelf. Someone should have notified us they were left behind and they were unable to screw them in. So yet again I called them back, explained what happened, and again asked for the credit card fee to be refunded as well as some of the overtime charge since we had to spend our time putting the bed together properly. I was told I need to speak to the owner and that he would call me in 3 weeks. Again was hung up on. Now every time I call I get sent immediately to voicemail, yet when I called from my husband's phone they pick up immediately. Am I ever going to receive a call back, speak to the owner or get anything refunded? Most likely not. Do not use this company. read more

Not only did Better Choice completely miss my scheduled moving window (for which I had been charged a deposit), but they so wildly underquoted me, despite filling out the inventory meticulously, that I ended up paying DOUBLE what I was quoted. They were friendly and very efficient and handled her things with care. We needed movers within a very short period of time the day before the July 4th holiday and they made it happen. These guys suck. They said they would be at my house by 9am. They got there around 1015am. On the phone, they said they dont mind taking apart a bunk bed and putting back up. But they got there and wanted to charge extra. I said no. Take it as is. So they complained the entire time about how heavy my furniture was. I know. That's why I'm paying you. They claimed they was done. Told my husband that the truck was empty. But the kitchen table wasn't in the house. They told us they left it at the other house. My husband was just so aggravated by their lack of work ethic, he paid them and they left. We went back to the other house, no table. We called them. They said they'll come back to drop it off. Hours pass!!!! No call no show. I call myself and sternly tell them to bring us our table. Cameron said "We have customers. We can't just drop everything to accommodate you." I went off. I am a customer who already paid. You fucked up. Not me. It took them 2 days of back and forth for them to bring me my table. And on top of that, Cameron so scary, he kept giving the phone to someone else. Cause he knew he was in the wrong and didn't wanna talk. They finally came with the table. But they so scary, they left it outside my house where people could've easily taken it. This was the worse moving service I've ever paid for. And I do not recommend them to anyone. They will complain the whole time about what they can't do and rush through it. Hope your experience will be better then mine. Better choice is not the best choice. read more
