Letter received with a check to compensate me for a broken item

UPDATE: I just received a check for a piece of glass they broke during our move along with a letter that if I deposit the check (for something they broke) that I would have to remove any negative reviews and cannot post any future negative reviews. this is not legal! please please please do not use this moving company!! We contracted Better Choice Moving for our move after being quoted a price based on a specific number of hours with a three-person crew. Based on the inventory I provided in advance, the quoted timeframe seemed completely reasonable. The move started off very well. All three movers worked efficiently together during the first part of the day. However, after a few hours, two of the three movers noticeably slowed down while the lead mover continued working consistently. What should have been completed within the estimated timeframe ended up taking 11 hours--approximately four hours longer than expected. I have no issue paying for additional time when it is genuinely needed. My concern is paying for extra hours that appeared to result from two workers not maintaining a reasonable pace. The lead mover himself commented to us throughout the day that the other two movers were working slowly. Yet when I spoke with Antonio afterward, he claimed the lead mover said the exact opposite--that we were trying to rush the crew. Ironically, if we were trying to hurry them up, that only reinforces the fact that the pace had slowed significantly. I provided an accurate and detailed inventory before the move, so there should not have been any surprises regarding the amount of work involved. Once we arrived at the new house, my daughter even began helping because it was getting so late. Initially, she was told she could not assist due to insurance reasons. However, after she insisted on helping, the movers noticeably picked up their pace. By that point, it was after 9:00 p.m. To make matters worse, not everything was even moved. We are now left having to hire someone else to transport the remaining belongings. When I received the invoice the following day, I was surprised by how much higher it was than the original estimate. I called and left Antonio a voicemail asking him to return my call the next day. When I never received a call back, I contacted him myself. Instead of listening to my concerns, Antonio immediately became defensive. His responses were essentially, "We've never had a problem with those workers," and, "That's not possible." He then attempted to make me feel guilty by saying that if I continued with my complaint, the employees could lose their jobs. That was completely inappropriate. How a company manages its employees is not the customer's responsibility, nor should a customer be discouraged from providing honest feedback because of potential consequences for staff. Throughout the conversation, Antonio repeatedly interrupted me, spoke over me, and essentially implied that I was being dishonest because there had never been complaints about those particular movers. That level of customer service was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. We also requested to speak with the owner and were told we would receive a call. That was yesterday, and we still have not heard from anyone. After reading other reviews, I noticed a pattern of similar complaints regarding jobs taking much longer than expected. While I can't say whether that was intentional, our experience certainly raises concerns. At the end of the day, my issue is not paying for additional time when it is justified. My issue is being expected to pay for several extra hours when the work was noticeably inefficient, the job was left incomplete, and legitimate concerns were met with defensiveness instead of professionalism. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Better Choice Moving.

Cameron and his team moved our full house across town in about six hours, including some heavy/trickier items up and down stairs.

I was moving from Quakertown to Philadelphia, and I definitely did my research, calling every possible moving company I could find to get quotes. Educated moving was by far the best deal and they were extremely nice and courteous on top of it. We agreed on an estimate and they told me that people usually settle in cash if you go over at the end. They showed up right on time and got to work. There was a slight problem when they forgot a special box for my tv but they macgyvered their own with a blanket, some cardboard and duct tape AND they subtracted some time at the end for the confusion. Everything was loaded carefully into their truck and we departed for Philly. There was a little bit of traffic that was unexpected but ultimately not bad for 76. When we got to the apartment, they got right to work again carrying everything up my skinny hallway with two flights of stairs. I am still amazed at how they got my oversized sofa chair and giant china cabinets through that door! I helped carry some stuff inside to move things along (you are charged by the hour) and they didn't mind at all. Nothing was damaged, and we only ended up going slightly over the quoted time (due to some traffic and their valiant efforts to get that oversized sofa chair through the door at my request). I would use them again in a heartbeat!

I had a relatively small move, from a one bedroom apt to a larger two bedroom, about 20 miles away,…read moreboth in montgomery county. At 5'4" and 120 pds I'm not hauling anything much heavier than a footstool. Booking was painless, and pleasant; i spoke to Joel, who immediately forwarded the required insurance forms and whatnot via email. I received a quote immediately and was able to book my preferred appointment time and date with no issues. The rate was awesome, btw. I opted out of insurance, because my stuff is either indestructible, or IKEA. Two days prior to the move, a friendly woman called from 'Your Moving Company'-a red flag for me, but i asked her to clarify what company, and after a short pause, i clarified for her that i had hired Educated Moving, and asked if she was calling from that agency. She seemed familiar with them, and went on to ask particulars about the move. All in all, she was pleasant as well, and confirmed my requested date and time, informing me that that time might change now that the date was approaching. Another flag - so i informed her that i had already spoken to Joel, who confirmed that 9am, on the particular date, was good to go. One day prior, i recieved my confirmation for a 9am start; I only include all this to highlight that in no way did i receive anything short of excellent customer service. BUT, at just before 9am, a blank white truck pulled up and two guys hopped out. I want to again point out that the guys that DID come were friendly and did what was required, with no broken items. The move took forever, but i didn't have to do it, so it was worth it. Whatever was dismantled was reassembled, and with any item that wasn't going in the truck, they offered to pack the car for me. But when it came time to pay, the invoice was from A TOTALLY DIFFERENT COMPANY. It explained why i received a blank stare when i asked where they taught... My biggest issue is that i researched Educated Moving, chose Educated Moving, and entered into contract with Educated Moving - and they simply pushed my job off to god knows who. I lucked out and got two decent guys - but they were strangers that i didn't hire. If you didn't want my job, why didn't you say so - or at least warn me????
