After reading other Yelp reviews, we chose to have breakfast at Bette's Place while in Hood River for a wedding. I had the Low Fat Fitness Omelette (no onions, tomatoes; add chicken, artichoke hearts). It was fantastic. Had fresh, hot muffins instead of toast. Others ordered the Cinnamon French Toast, the buckwheat pancakes, and the (monster) cinnamon roll. We all had coffee, which was quite good. The service was outstanding. Nary a coffee cup or water glass was ever empty, and all the servers were funny and friendly. Highly recommend. read more

What a great, tasty fun menu! We passed by this place a day earlier but didn't realize this is where we would be having breakfast here on another day. Of course we checked it out on YELP. The menu is quite delectable and should have something for everyone's taste buds. I love eggs benedict and had to order them with the Dungeness Crab. It was a little expensive but sure worth it and I'm on vacation! Wife went with the 2 eggs scrambled, hash browns with bacon. Interesting that they gave her falafel bread with her order. Unfortunately we were full and did not taste any of their great pastries. Lots of families were there. The wait was very short. Cafe was really bustling and all the tables were full. Wonderful breakfast spot in Hood River! The servings are hearty and so delicious. I can't believe I failed to take a picture of it, but you MUST get a maple bar from here! They are bready in the best way and extra delicious when they are freshly warmed. My friend said it was the best maple bar she has ever had! Come hungry! Kinda wishing I stuck with my first thought about getting a half order but made it through! A couple blocks from where we are staying and really good. I usually order hollandaise sauce on the side - forgot - and it was good but I did scoop most of it off. Eggs were poached just right. Wayne a scramble that was good - full of yummy stuff! I was in Hood River for a night and came here for breakfast. I ordered the dungeoness crab benedict and it was the yummiest I've ever had with huge chunks of crab. I got a pancake as well and I wish they the berry syrup they served it with because I would buy a couple bottles. Superb. What a local gem we stumbled upon. Everything was fantastic from the service to the food. The place was packed (and we fully understand why, it's delicious). Generous portions. Oh my!!!! This place is delicious! We came for breakfast and returned the next morning it was that good! Hubby got huevos rancheros both times. Covered in fresh cilantro and avocado. Green sauce (yummy) with a red fresh salsa he asked for on the side. I got an omelette that was filled with feta, tomato and fresh spinach. Love that they have the option for a pancake instead of toast. 2nd day I had to try the French toast covered in fresh coconut, macadamia nuts and bananas. All their syrups are brought to the table warm. House made coconut syrup, also berry and maple. First bite reminded me of being somewhere tropical. Hubby helped himself and raved also. Don't leave without adding house made bakery items..... all amazing. Scones, danishes, pies, maple bars, cinnamon rolls...huge. Bette's Place is a destination restaurant and it's absolutely worth the trip . Bette's is not the kind of restaurant people try because it's right off the highway. Bette's Place is in the middle of town and kinda out of the way. That hasn't stopped droves of people from packing this restaurant for the amazing food they offer. Their cinnamon rolls are the size of teacup plates as are the buttermilk biscuits. I had the chicken fried steak smothered in gravy with a cheddar bacon biscuit. I'm sorry to say the cheddar bacon biscuit wasn't as big as the buttermilk biscuit but that's probably a good thing for my waistline. What a gem! Super casual and friendly diner in the town of Hood River. Service was fast and efficient eventhough they're bustling with people on the weekend. They've got quite a menu for you to choose from and everything we got was fresh and delicious! Their portion can't be beat so make sure you come here starving. The hashbrowns were across the board crispy and fluffy on the inside; might be the best that I've had! Their Chicken Artichoke Omlette was also very fluffy and full of tender chicken and half a friggin avocado. Their dishes are not the most refined but that's not what you come here for! On top of the huge omlette you also get a mountain of hash and a choice of toast, biscuit, or 2 muffins. You really won't leave this place hungry. I saw the pictures of Bette's cinnamon rolls online, so I HAD to stop in for some take-out breakfast when passing through town last weekend. It was a Sunday morn, about 830, and the area wasn't busy yet. We went in and placed our order and the place looked just as I expected, a cute lil hometown cafe. We opted for the breakfast burrito and an egg plate with browns and bacon, as well as that cinnamon roll I'm pretty much always craving and a coffee and latte. The portions were huge, we definitely could've shared a single meal. The flavors were good...pretty standard considering the items ordered. As usual for me, I wished my hash browns were a bit on the crispier side. The coffee was good, latte ok. The flavor of that massive cinnamon roll was great, although on the sugary side even for cinnamon rolls. Unfortunately they'd plopped way too much icing on top, so much so it drowned about a 1/4 of my roll. I ended up scraping some icing off the remainder of the roll and finished it off happily. Overall you get a lot for the money at Bette's. The service was extremely friendly and the place cute and clean. read more

This place hold memories and nostalgia for me since I had been here time and time again back in the 1990's and had my last visit either in 1997 or 1998 (25 years ago). I would come from Gresham with my dad and my grandma to eat breakfast and wonder around the area. Coming here with my wife, mother and father for Father's Day today, it was a flashback all over again. The place still looks the same inside and it's great. The fresh made pies, cinnamon rolls and huge generous portions of food is welcoming. A decent price for what you get too! The food taste great, of course and there's not one bad thing to say about any of it or the service and I highly recommend coming here with your kids to pass down the tradition that still stayed standing during COVID! read more

We stopped here on a trip after seeing all the GREAT Yelp reviews. So glad we did! Nice people, cozy atmosphere, plenty of seating, frequent coffee refills -- and terrific breakfasts! The High Winds Scramble is a mountain of food and just delicious. The French toast comes with both berry syrup and warm maple syrup. And we ended up buying an entire strawberry rhubarb pie to take to my parents' place to surprise them. We didn't get the cinnamon roll, but we saw it! It's huge! I really wish I could give a no star review. This place was recommended to us by friends who live here because they said the food was good, but unfortunately we never got to try. We wanted to go to Broder Ost on a Saturday morning but the wait was 90 mins. We quickly pivoted and stopped by Bette's Place which could seat our party of 5 adults and 2 toddlers in 15 mins. The place was PACKED with tables spilling out into the warm hallway. Our experience was quick service, huge portions of comfort food, and full satiated bellies. My chorizo burrito was topped with fresh slices of avocado and the side of fruit was full of fresh strawberries, banana, watermelon, grapes, melons, and raspberries. Best side of fruit I've ever had. Delicious breakfast and super great staff. I've come here twice after shooting Milky Way at night and has a pleasant visit both times. The food is really good! I always get the scramble. The biscuits are tasty. And although I never order it they have cinnamon rolls the size of my head. They were much busier the second time I came but they are really efficient in the way they run in the busy times. Super impressed by that. They have two guys that were running around doing drinks and making sure we had everything to start. Then the server handles the rest. They have a system and it works well!
