On our travels to Tallahassee for the FSU game weekend we decided to try out a new spot for lunch on the scenic route. We have been told by a few friends that they had a great selection of "home cooked" menu items. When you first pull up it is exactly what you expect, if you can get past the outside looks, you will be sure to enjoy a great meal. The staff here is very "Southern", extremely friendly, polite & personable. It may not be cleanest restaurant, but the food was very tasty. My husband ordered a burger, which he enjoyed very much with steak fries and I personally ordered the Patty Melt with cole slaw, it was delicious. Just finished a great meal. Truly a classic, hometown establishment. We were greeted with a smile and invited to sit wherever. Having arrived just before noon was a good move, as the place filled up quickly. Service was prompt and very friendly. We both ordered the 1/4 fried chicken and were told it might take a bit, since it was cooked to order. It was well worth the wait. Hot, crispy and moist. The salad arrived with fresh beefsteak tomatoes and homemade ranch dressing, yummy. I saw a serving of cornbread go by, so asked for some. The fresh rolls were tasty, but what is fried chicken without cornbread? Again, a soft, moist and clearly freshly made delight. The peach cobbler, one side option, must of had as much butter as peaches! This is a true Southern gem. read more

My family and I went for some lunch when we got there we were told to have a seat about 5 mins in our lunch time. We were approached by a young lady she asked us what we wanted then left thinking she had it all wrote down. She came back and asked my father if he wanted fries again . Then our food came to us about 15 mins in our lunch time. When we got the food my fries were soggy and my shrimp was way to oilly. My father food was suppose to be a chicken breast sandwich but it was not. It was a chicken strip sandwich. Our service was horrible and so was the food. read more

Wow, Friday night is all you can eat seafood: shrimp boiled, fried or grilled, catfish, fish fingers, fried clams, deviled crabs - yum! Hope I didn't forget anything, we had all of the above for $17.99 each. All you can eat crab legs is on the menu too (I think it was $29 per person). Great down-home sides too like greens, mashed potatoes, hush puppies, peach cobbler. We loved every bite but don't need to eat tomorrow! Local. Local. Local. Lots of food at reasonable prices. Excellent mac and cheese, homemade peach cobbler and strawberry cake. Grilled pork chops satisfied and the seafood special emphasized shrimp. I especially enjoyed it grilled. Server was very nice and food was delivered promptly. It is obvious that this spot is a favorite with local families. My husband and I stopped through on our way back to Georgia from Tampa and this was a surprising treat. The service was great and the food was very good! Stopped by on a road trip for breakfast on a Sunday and the place was crowded with locals. Good service despite the crowd. Giant and tasty pancakes (seriously, folks, they are huge). Good biscuits. Great food, service and price. Went here on a Sunday after tubing the ichetucknee river. About 20 miles away but well worth the drive. The place was packed with folks (mostly locals). Had a combo club that was a ham and turkey in one- was a huge sandwich. Others with us had an awesome blt, fried chicken, turkey club- all with okra, fries, homemade mac and cheese, green beans, sweet corn bread, and peach cobbler. Highly recommended! read more

What more can be said about fresh vegetables as sides? Creamed corn- excellent. Greens and Lima beans made correctly: tender and flavorful, without grease! Mac and cheese- probably the best I've ever had (and I'm not a Mac and cheese person). Husband had the hamburger steak with onions and brown gravy, really delicious. The chicken tenders were very tasty, simple presentation but fresh and nicely seasoned. Whatever you do: do NOT say no to the bread basket!! Where chicken saints go when they die. The best fried chicken in the universe. The sides are little moons of happiness orbiting that delectable chicken. The strawberry cake caused my molars to ache with longing. Don't get angsty about the calories--the extra flubbyness will keep you warm when you dive into the perfectly chill-luscious Manatee Springs just down the road a spell. The Yelp map was a little off...the restaurant is a bit farther north than shown. Once you find it, the food is good. We had fried and grilled shrimp with swamp cabbage and cheese grits. The shrimp themselves are nothing special typical frozen 30 count, but they cook them very well and give you plenty of them, including all you can eat on Friday and Saturday. The shrimp were lightly battered and tasty, but the grilled shrimp were even better. The only weak spot was the mac & cheese...the mac was over cooked. Outstanding! The meatloaf and mashed with fantastic gravy was the best I've had in a loooooong time. The women that greeted us and served our food could not have been more friendly and accommodating. I was there for the astronomy "Star Party" I'm from NY and it was a one time deal, i will probably never be in that neck of he woods again, it was a long trip.
