    Buttermilk chicken with Buffalo

As many times as I have been to Painter's, I was surprised I hadn't reviewed yet. They are under new management and back open for business! The menu is not overly complicated with great options. They also have specials on certain nights. The bar area has seating in the room, and there are separate quieter dining rooms and an amazing second bar and space. The second bar is open on weekends and for private events. The have great outside seating which is really nice in warm weather. Fabulous dog sculpture in the bar. I didnt want to sit on it till the sign said don't sit on it. :) It's definitely a local spot... and you always want to go where the locals go. I got the Buttermilk chicken flatbread with Buffalo sauce. The amount of cheese on it was phenomenal, and I didn't even have to ask for extra cheese! My friend and local got the beet salad. It looked to die for, and he was quite pleased. It was a little loud for him in the bar area, but I was able to tune it out. There were quite a few folks in there. The service was great and we were well taken care of. The Chritmas decorations were still up, and it was all beautiful. Great visit!

The interior decoration of the front entrance, dining room and front tavern area is quite nice. We had a lunch reservation for 9 and when we showed up they said is it ok if we seat you in the back tavern area? We can push some tables together. That area is nothing in ambience to the cozy and warm dining room. In fact it was refrigerator cold with cold air blowing from vents above the tables they pushed together. Our 96 year old guest was miserable as were we. We asked to be seated in the dining room where it was warmer and they said if we waited for a party to leave we could or said " you can sit outside ". (It was grey and cold outside) what an insult especially having a reservation. We were on time and they should have had a table set aside for our party. None of our food items were to our liking at all. Too many issues to go over all in this review.

Very underwhelming experience. While the host was super nice and charming, he was so chatty and asked where we were from and we discovered we were from similar areas in Queens. We chose to eat inside as we spent most of the day at Storm King in the heat, we sat at a cute table for 2 but directly under the blasting A/C but sucked it up because we were so hot most of the day. Anyway, our waitress was cute and did her best to recommend her "favorites" although we asked what was popular. The drinks came out I had a margarita and my cousin had a beer so nothing fancy so I would say they were both decent. The app which we chose the buttermilk calamari which was underwhelming, over cooked a bit chewier than we would have liked, the marinara was good but the chipotle mayo was just eh! I ordered the steak and frits lol I guess they meant Frites which was part of the special, the steak was cooked ok I guess and the fries were good not greasy. My cousin had the sweet Thai chili salmon which tasted like it was from the fridge and over cooked not good at all. It had some pickled cucumbers with dill on top that made no sense being there. The veggies tasted fresh but the "Jasmine" rice also tasted like it was microwaved rice with tons of butter. The meal was a complete fail after a long day and two very hungry customers came in based on decent reviews. We will not be back but I'm sure they have enough elderly locals to support the business.

Went in last Sunday Night for cocktails and appetizers with a group. Everything was set up so nicely. Best espresso Martini I've had in a very long time. Shrimp cocktail was really good; loved the horseradish / the decor is really nice and I really liked all the personal touches the owner put in

Newburgh, NY - we were directed to eat here by a friend after we visited nearby Motorcyclepedia…read more It's a popular local hangout, and the vibes immediately strike me as: if this were my neighborhood watering hole, I'd be a regular here. The decor alone earns a star: rock n roll ephemera covers every surface - walls, ceiling, shelves and display case - and takes me back to the days when I went to "shows" and not "concerts." There's even a small stage in the corner for live music, so that definitely checks out. Our friendly server Dianne hands us menus printed on newspaper, and I needed a moment to decide between the large selection of comfort food classics with creative variations on a theme - burgers, sandwiches, salads, mac & cheese, chilis & soups, burritos, wraps, fajitas, rice bowls, and specialty entrées - finally settling on some apps and a burger to share with my kiddo (which I'm told are good here), while our friend went for a steak bowl. There's a surprisingly large vegan and vegetarian section. Surprising because I haven't come across many veggie-forward pubs that offer anything more than a perfunctory Beyond Burger/black bean burger and an anemic salad. Here, they actually respect the non-carnivore's right to have some decent choices. The "hot" wings are alright and not really hot (though admittedly my spice sensors are likely eroded from my intense affinity for heat), but the poutine was a standout, which we ordered with bbq pork add-on. And while it won't quite pass muster in Montreal (tbh I've rarely had authentic poutine in the US despite seeing it on menus a lot - the cheese curds are never right), it was piping hot and delicious. The revelation was the twisty cut potatoes underneath, seriously additive! I love places with heart, which isn't always easy to define but the effort can be discerned in the atmosphere and the details. The Wherehouse has got that spirit & essence. With 16 rotating draft lines featuring regional brews, and substantial food offerings that far outpaces the typical bar menu, it's a down-to-earth dining establishment with the soul of a dive bar, that makes you feel welcomed like a local from the get-go.

The Wherehouse turned out to be everything we didn't know we needed- truly the kind of accidental…read moregem that makes the night. Halloween night at that. We'd been striking out, one call after another, as every spot in our town decided to close up early that night. So landing a last-minute res. at this tiny, offbeat bar-restaurant in Newburgh, NY felt like a win. We just wanted a few bites+drinks before heading to Briarcliff Manor for a Halloween party and ended up finding way more than that. Unbeknownst to us, The Dylan Doyle Band played that night and man...was he good. The kid uses funk, rock, blues, R&B in his mix. Plus he sang his own renditions of D'Angelo- to honor him that night, Chaka and several others. I mean...he absolutely blew us away! But imagine this: it's got the vibe of Tarantino's From Dusk Till Dawn bar feel, minus the vampires and gore. This place is welcoming, unpretentious, serves decent bar food and has an excellent vegan menu that goes wayyyy beyond the usual portobello burger. Carnivores are covered too. Drinks are ok too. But do let them know light on the ice. We got music- a live band at that, decent food and had a fantastic time. This is Wherehouse.

Compared to other bbq in the area, I believe Brothers is a winner. The food quality is great, and techniques of prep and cooking are perfectly mastered. The brisket has a flavorful crust and it breaks apart with a fork. The baked beans have all the right stuff to make them excellent. Baked Mac and cheese is BAKED. The chicken falls off the bone and smoked perfectly. Candied yams are perfect and you can actually taste the butter that you're SUPPOSED to bake into it, (they're the only ones who make it right) in my opinion. We ordered an appetizer of "burnt bacon ends", and so much flavor, and fall apart with a fork. The cocktails were potent, so beware . Did I say enough about the food? Even the service was great. One of the owners even swung by to see if we needed anything. If you haven't already gone, go. It's a nice relaxed atmosphere, and sometimes has live entertainment. You'll love it.

Didn't have to wait long for food. Make sure they bring your cornbread. That was sweet and hot. Got the brisket nachos and the pulled pork sandwich with candied yams. Brisket was very tender and sweet. Very tasty. The pulled pork was moist. The yams were cooked perfectly, nice and soft. It has a very comfy feel with lots of cute decorations.
