Great food in Brooklyn Heights!!! I live across the street and have never had a bad meal here. They have a very diverse menu from pizzas to burgers to paninis to pasta to gourmet entrees. Their burrata and salmon tartare appetizers are great. Love the fish entrees as well as their ever changing homemade pasta options (specials). Low key, never very crowded, great for groups. They even have a good sized bar, with lots of selections. read more

I've stopped in here a couple times for drinks and snack at the bar, so this is only review of the bar, but given the neighborhood I'm a big fan of this place. It's probably a 3 start joint in another neighborhood with more choice when it comes to going out, but in Brooklyn Heights it gets 4 stars. Meh... Is it clean? Yes. Is food decent? Yes, kinda. Is it "good looking"? Yeah sure, it's quite new. But do not expect a mind blowing meal - well actually not even a good meal, cause all the food me and my friends had for brunch was pretty tasteless. Even the interior decoration: it looks kinda of a wannabe but doesn't get that close to NYC standards as far as places I'd definitely suggest for eating something out. I have been going to Bevacco fairly frequently for the past 7 years as I have lived in Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights during this time. The menu has recently changed but the food is still great. Typically the service is a wonderful as well, however the last two times I went there for dinner I noticed a change. Just the other night I arrived at 9:40pm and was quickly seated. After being seated, we were made aware that the kitchen closed at 10 PM and between 9:40 and 9:50 we were approached 3 times to place our order. Our food came out around 10:20 and about 10 minutes later the waitress brought us the check. At 10:35 the bartender told us that they were closing and that we had to leave. A few minutes later, the bartender insisted we leave and then proceeded to stand next to our table and stare at us while we finished up and gathered our belongings. Overall, It was very unprofessional behavior by the staff. If the restaurant insists that their patrons leave their restaurant by 10:40 then perhaps they should not seat guests for dinner after a certain time. No one likes to be rushed to eat and certainly, no one likes to be told to leave their restaurant. It was truly a very uncomfortable dinning experience. The food gets 4 stars, the waitress was reasonable but the bartender was rude and seemed a bit off.. Overall 1 star (4 for the food and -3 for the service). read more

The place looks great. They did a wonderful job renovating the space. The food was good but portions small. Salad and main course came out one right after the other - maybe a bit fast. Dessert was delicious but it took forever for the coffee to join the dessert. I would try it again but would probably go to Henry's End or Noodle Pudding first. read more

We had a large party on a early Sunday evening. The place was dead...maybe one other table. For tacking on 20% gratuity, I guess they know they are getting it so can not,worry about good service. Come on.....can't you give us more bread (its cheap enough) and fill our empty water glasses without being ASKED? Menu had changed since last visit. Went for brunch, which they recently started serving. Food was great, service was friendly and prompt. French toast was inexpensive at $6! The atmosphere is pretty sharp, save for the orchestral movie theme muzak. Though it does make fun for on the spot trivia. But a Bellini was $10. What the what? Despite bad reviews here and elsewhere, we gave it a try. The restaurant is attractive and nicely designed. Many of the dishes on the menu sounded appealing - it was even hard to choose. However, in the end, it was one of our worst restaurant experiences in recent memory. Bottom line - there are too many really good Italian options in the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods to even consider returning to Bevacco again. I even gazed forlornly at some of the bustling Italian places on Montague street on the way home. Here are the highlights: - the waitress was willing to accommodate several special requests for our two kids, most notably a side of steamed string beans (as they appeared elsewhere on the menu) - My daughter's pasta didn't show up with the rest of our food - we had to ask 3 times where it was and it finally showed up 15 minutes later (it was quite tasty once it did - the crispy garlic buccatini) - the side of string beans was revolting; beans not fresh and overcooked and mushy (we sent them back) - The dirty first course dishes sat unattended for an eternity - until we flagged the one busboy to take them away - Our entrees took forever to arrive - we were on the verge of leaving when they finally showed up - The "gnocchi ravioli"' which sounded appealing was a gooey mess, the branzino was passable but came with a side of salty, oily spinach and flavorless vegetable "flan" - We complained to the manager and asked for the check; he was apologetic and told us "the story" that the chef "knew the beans were bad, but sent them out anyway" - The check arrived with the returned beans, a Sprite we didn't order, and no items comped on it - I showed it to the manager to correct and he did ultimately remove some items Overall, a real disappointment, and not worth the $75 we still had to spend. One star for nice decor and decent pasta . Also - the staff spent the entire night arguing in the back. They clearly have some operational / interpersonal issues to work out. read more

We wanted to go to the recommended noodle pudding but got there late and there was a wait of an hour, we were hungry so headed up the street where we came across this place. It was pretty empty which we knew was not a good sign but we were hungry and not super fussy do we decided we would take a chance. When we entered the host asked if we had a reservation which was a fair question but when we said no he made a point of going to check his book, the place was empty and it didn't fill up. That aside the service was good, both fast and attentive. The pasta was "fine" as was the pork, pizza was good but my Americano Burger was beyond vile. It was not a burger, it was a pressed panini sandwich made with ground beef that was soggy and oily, somehow it managed to be both disgusting and bland at the same time. I was disappointed in myself for eating as much of it as I did. The food was meh to bad and the service was meh too good so it's a bit of a meh wash. Two stars. read more

This place is fantastic! The maitre 'd was entertaining, the antipasto appetizer plate of meats and cheese was delicious, but by far the best thing on the menu was the gnocchi. My fiancé and I have been coming here for brunch more often these days and while he loves the chicken sandwich and I enjoy the italian benedict (with prosciutto, burrata, and roasted tomatoes), the service is always super flow and order gets messed up at least every other time we come. I didn't have high expectations for this place going in, and not for any particular reason. One of my dining companions grew up in the neighborhood and didn't really express any enthusiasm about the place which perhaps accounts for my perspective going in. The appetizer, fried calamari was good. It was definitely fresh and well prepared but the real standout was the Sliced skirt steak, potato croquette, black truffle sauce, radicchio flan. The steak was very tender, flavorful and well-cooked. I want to go back just for that and I don't even live in the area, though if I did I would probably be a regular. read more

Had a really nice celebratory lunch here. Loved the atmosphere, the pasta, and the service. We all had different pasta dishes and they were all delicious. I arrived at Bevacco this past weekend not really expecting anything than other than your usual corner Italian restaurant, but what I got was much much more. We were greeted with kindness and welcomed in to a dining room that could be described as both modern and classic. Bevacco is headed by rising star and culinary guru,Chef Chiara Zago who will soon be shedding new light onto the menu after her recent takeover as head chef. I ordered the specialty of the evening which was a tagliolini pasta with crab dish that kept me wanting more. The pasta was cooked to perfection and topped with crab that was both sweet and juicy. I was told that the dish may find its way onto a new menu that Chef Zago will be revealing in a few weeks time. The menu will be bringing on a modern twist to classic Italian fare which is sure to delight even the most sophisticated palette. I give this place two thumbs up, and I look forward to returning to Bevacco to experience Zago's latest of culinary creations! read more

I have had multiple meals at Bevacco. My favorite dinner dish is the Paccheri alla Norma, which is a pasta dish including eggplant and tomatoes. I have also had Sunday Brunch at Bevacco. One of my favorite things about this restaurant, aside from their great food, is the atmosphere and the staff. You will find that the restaurant staff members are very friendly and the cozy ambience at Bevacco will make you want to stay long after you have had your last bite. read more

Brought my family in for dinner yesterday and food was amazing. I've been dining here for months and if you are looking for very high-quality italian food, then look no further. I highly recommend the buffalo mozzerella and proscuitto as well as the assorted meat and cheese platter. Eggplant parm is better than grandma's and skirt steak is always cooked to perfection. was there last night for drinks and this place is fantastic. such a great addition to the neighborhood. we only went for drinks but must go back for dinner. i had a cocktail called "smile", and if you like spice and tequila, this will be your must have drink. it was DELISH. dangerously so. even my bf, who does not like to drink that much, said, "oh yes, this is good. i could have that." i ordered another one with regular tequila and it was just as good. my bf had two lake placid beers, we sat at the corner of the bar and talked, and then headed out into the cold. the bartender was fantastic and it wasn't that crowded, which i like, but know that this is not a way for restos/bars to survive. so do yourself a favor and stop by! read more

Noodle Pudding was closed for a private event so my friend and I stopped by Bevacco instead. We were smitten the moment they put a plate of focaccia in front of us. The best part was the garlic-infused olive oil. We couldn't stop snacking on it and our waiter was nice enough to keep refilling our plate. I think the portions are amazing for what the prices are. I could barely finish my lamb ragu pappardelle--possibly because I couldn't stop eating the focaccia. It was a really simple dish--just pasta, lamb and asparagus--but everything they used was so fresh that it tasted amazing. read more

Very very good! I suspect Bevacco will go toe to toe with Noodle Pudding because both restaurants offer Italian fare. However, Bevacco takes credit cards and it is roomy: two big plusses in my book. The service was top notch and the menu has something to please almost every palate. The spinach salad with pear was enormous and the foccacia bread was super crispy and delicious. My H had the buccatini and has not stopped raving about how delicious it was. My son had the "gnocchi" and like it but, be forewarned, it did not look anything at all like gnocchi- it was pyramid shaped. Bevacco is classier than Oh My Pasta and is much cozier. read more

Bevacco deserves more business. It's terrific. The ambiance is sophisticated, subtly updated old-school Italian, with a white penny tile floor and dark wood fittings, real candles (not LED candles) gray walls, and shimmering mirrors on the back wall that reflect light. Cocktails are impressive--the mimosa at brunch was made with real orange juice, the Dolce Vita is made with muddled strawberries. At brunch we had an outstanding artichoke frittata, and at dinner--I can't recommend the Buccatini with garlic enough, it is sublime, utterly craveable, and absolutely delicious. I hope the neighborhood will support this place, it is so much better than the mediocre blue pig & co. that were in the space before. read more

I guess their kitchen staff had some miscommunication but there was only 3 of us in the restaurant the entire time! Fresh made pasta and sauces, accompanied by great choices of meat. It all felt very authentic Italian and good. I had the Rigatoni with a creamy tomato sauce and my husband had the Pesto Gnocchi. The sauce was light and well balanced by the prosciutto and the peas. Both were delicious and good size portions so that we could order a starter and dessert to share. Glad to find a place with non American portions. The dessert disappointed me, I am very particular about Tiramisu and this one was just not quite it, too creamy. This restaurant is middling. It's trying to be old-meets-new, but misses the point on so many marks. First, the service has been pushy or overwhelmed the two times I've been here. Second, it's trying to be too many things at once. They have antique light bulbs and marble tables but it feels like they are forcing this look. Just because you have antique design does not mean they have a good look or a comfortable restaurant. Third, the food is fine. I've had some bites that were good, some that were boring or mis-cooked. I think they need to work on their execution a bit more. The pizza was mediocre. I feel like they could do better and I hope they improve as time goes by. read more

We recently had dinner at Bevacco and brought a party of nine with us. They quickly sat us and handed out menus. Water was served...lukewarm with no ice. We had to ask for ice. Croutons were put on the table in lieu of bread..that's all I can do to explain what they were. Mind you, delicious, but perplexingly small portions for a table of nine. I ordered lobster ravioli as my meal and was shocked at the skimpy bowl of 5 raviolis I was served....for $18. I'm not saying they weren't good, just that I wish I was warned that it was a small portion. Everyone liked their food, but we all agreed the portions were skimpy and expensive. We all pretty much left hungry and headed to get ice cream elsewhere. My husband and I ate lunch there at another time and totally enjoyed our short rib pannini. I have been there twice. Very few tables were occupied. The food is pretty good and well made. Ingredients are fresh and they take care in the preparation. The sauces were delicious. What I love is the décor. This place is amazing. I like the industrial, old world feel. What it's missing is plants. Sitting there, both times, I see this place with big leafy plants to round out the edges. The venue reminds me of old Havana with the openness and the fans. If they added the plants, got some classy Cuban music and changed the menu to Cuban cuisine, it would be outstanding. There would be no need to compare it to Noodle Pudding because it would be in a league of it's own. Ok, so that's probably not going to happen but a boy can dream.
