So, over the past few weeks and months, I've been gradually immersing myself into the world of smart connected devices. The more I learn about all the stuff you can do with these connected smart devices, the more I realize how dumb my house is and how much I want to convert it into a really genius level smart home that I can control entirely from my bed. My ultimate goal is to make my bed the command center of my entire condo... so I never have to leave it again unless it so pleases me or I am required to do so. Gone will be the days of getting out of bed to reach some dumb light switch to turn off some dumb light or to turn off the dumb AC or to lock my dumb door or to activate my dumb alarm system or to close my dumb blinds or turn off my dumb humidifier ... never again. Whatever the cost, clearly the future is here, and I must have it! (with permission from my Wife). To help me bring my vision to life on the smart lock front, I reached out to Mr. Jin S. at Beverly Locksmith on a Friday morning because of his excellent yelp rating and because he was located very close to me. I got a response within a few minutes and we scheduled a time within an hour or two for him to come by and give me an estimate. Jin arrived on time to my place around 10:30 am. With how my door handle and lock are installed and situated on my door, Jin explained to me that he needed to drill in and install a deadbolt space and deadbolt above the original lock and handle in order to be able to install the smart lock I wanted. Well, so be it then. Take my money Mr. Jin S. and make my dream a reality. So off I went to Best Buy to buy the August Smart Lock Pro with Connect Wi-Fi Bridge and Smart Keypad that I had been looking at. I sent Jin pictures of the smart lock and scheduled a deadbolt & smart lock installation after work around 7pm. Jin came by again, on time. He asked me if I also bought the deadlock outside key hole piece that is required for installation. I told him no, of course I don't have that man, what even is that? Fortunately, Jin rummaged around his large organize professional locksmith van and found me this critical piece of the installation which he could provide to me at cost (I think). With everything in hand, Jin finished the installation within 30 to 45 minutes and it would have been even faster if I didn't take so long figuring out how to set up the smart lock on my phone! He was very friendly and easy to talk to. Like his yelp page bio says, he's been in this business for 27+ years, he's a solo practitioner, he hustles, he's a family man with three daughters who help him with his yelp page, and he did a great job! After he left, I realized that there was one more piece of the August Smart Lock Pro that was not installed - the Doorsense magnet piece that can helps the system tell when your door is open or closed. One of the installation options is to drill a hole on the side of your door and stick it in there so it's unseen and not protruding or sticking out anywhere. Around 10pm, I contacted Jin again and asked him if he could come back to install this last piece. He got back to me early in the morning the next day and said he would get back to me about it. I will update my review with how the last part of the installation goes, but everything so far has been great! read more

This place is a beautiful hidden gem for keys. I bought 5 keys and it cost me $5! I did 5 standard keys nothing crazy, but I was expecting to pay at least $2 or more a piece. I suggest if you need keys and are in the area come by. The service is friendly and quick! I was in and out within 2-3 minutes. SAVED ME. I had recently gotten my purse stolen at a restaurant by some low-life people that really won't be making money off of anything in that purse.. but that's another story... I lost two sets of keys, one was mine and the other was my mother's. Both keys had our house key and our CAR KEYS ..... everyone knows HOW EXPENSIVE it is to get car keys .... I got my purse stolen on Thursday but I had to figure something out by Monday.... I didn't have a wallet, ID, cash, or anything! I somehow was able to borrow some money to get my keys made. I called on Sunday and he came on Sunday, literally an hour after we talked on the phone and he was on time, ready to go! He was very fast and very friendly... little did I know that my car required another electronic chip.... UGH another $40 ...but better than paying $400 .... It took him maybe 30 minutes to make my car keys and the electronic chip and then we quickly moved on to my mom's keys and he actually did everything in his van ! Within 20 minutes he gave me my mom's car keys as well. Two car keys were made within an hour on a Sunday! His work time did not interfere with any of my errands for Sunday and even though I am left broke and naked from my stuff, at least I got my keys back and I can move my car freely and get to work.. (should've just waited another day and called work.. hahahaa) He gladly gave me the ID and CODE for my car and my mom's car just in case there is another incident like this. The locksmith arrived on time to remove a garage lock. When he looked at it, he quoted me $150. Then, after trying to pick the lock and realizing that he had to switch from his lock picking tools to a circular saw, he immediately asked for an additional $50. I said no and he grumbled and removed the lock. Then when I paid him cash, he asked for a tip. I said no. He then asked me to leave a 5 star yelp review which vendors are not supposed to do. $150 for 15 min of work is more than a fair wage in my opinion. He got the job done but I didn't appreciate his trying to up charge and ask for tips and 5 star reviews. Will not use him again. read more

I had a terrible week where not only did I break my wrist skateboarding, but also managed to lose my keys in the process. One of the keys that I lost was to a 1999 Ford Expedition which I purchased for my food truck business. And now I had to have a replacement made. It's turns out the only way to get a new key for this car was to have a locksmith reverse engineer a key. I called several locksmiths around town and Jin at Beverly Locksmith responded immediately. I put in a quote request on Yelp to several locksmiths to help me with a lockout. Several replied back immediately with quotes directly in Yelp. With Beverly locksmith i got a reply back with several short word questions like "address", "?" And "U done". I thought that was odd so i decided to call them back directly to get a quote. Glad i did. This is the only company that gave us the most competitive quote compared to everybody that responded sooner. Not only that, but he came immediately after i called and even made a copy of the key to the lock we were locked out of. Mr. Jin was courteous, kind and FAST. He was in and out. Strongly recommend! SO glad that I read the reviews here before hiring a locksmith. Following an unfortunate incident between involving a threat to my mother's caregiver, we needed to quickly change all the locks on my mother's house to keep her and my mother safe. But I had no idea who to call (there are an awful lot of listings for people who call themselves "locksmiths"). But I turned to Yelp, and saw Beverly Locksmith with 450+ reviews and 5-star rating...so I figured they must be pretty good. But they weren't pretty good...they were GREAT. I called around noon, and Mr. Jin answered the phone himself. After explaining what I needed, he told me to text him the address, and said he'd be here by 2 or 2:30 pm. Not only was he on time, but he texted me to say he was 10 minutes away. He and his son-in-law (?) showed up in a fully equipped van, and they were very friendly and professional. I showed them the 4 locks needing re-keying, and they removed the cylinders, took them out to the van, and brought them back (along with 6 new sets of keys) within about 30 minutes. I can't emphasize how nice it was to work with such friendly, competent and professional tradesmen. They really know their stuff, and were not particularly expensive (despite having them come on very short notice at the start of a holiday weekend!). Met locksmith at my rental home. He was on time. Friendly guy. I wanted to replace cylinders on two of three exit doors so only one key would be necessary. But it was too expensive. So I just settled in having the lock on the French door to a double key so intruders couldn't just break the glass and turn the lock knob to gain entry. Locksmith did this successfully. Even had cylinder or lock that matched the door knob. I rate two stars because I think the $320 charged was unreasonable. I drive out from riverside and just wanted to get this over with rather than take the time to shop around for other locksmiths. If anyone can convince me this is a reasonable charge I will amend this review. But not until then read more
