We always go to our local Beverly's in Yorba Linda, but with the Yorba Linda location not being able to take a cake order with only a couple days notice, my husband tried this location. And wow am I glad that we tried this Beverly's because my birthday cake was AMAZING! We ordered a carrot cake with cream cheese filling and cream cheese icing. At the other location, they always try to talk us into butter cream on the outside because the cream cheese icing is so soft that it doesn't hold much by way of design. At this location, they were completely unphased by the cream cheese frosting outside and decorated with the most delicate, beautiful, intricately designed flowers in purple and yellow. It was truly the most special cake I have ever had and for a moment I didn't want to cut it (but only for a moment). The cake itself was the kind of thing that you close your eyes for a second to experience the first bite. The cake was moist and flavorful while the filling was thick, luxurious and perfect. They know what their doing with the cream cheese filling/icing. And there was a good layer of icing on top that pulled the whole cake together.....I might sneak over to the fridge for a bite just thinking about it now. This year for my Birthday I decided I wanted one of their cakes and would deal with whatever service I received. I am so glad I went back. I received the best service ever. They were so helpful and did not judge my choice of design. The cake was beautiful, more than I could have imagined. I ordered 14 mini cupcakes (2 bites) and the total was $28. I was floored by the cost since I got basic vanilla with chocolate frosting. The cupcakes were actually very good, as was the frosting. Several people commented that it was not overly sweet. It's just the price that was shocking to me. However, this was technically a custom order and they were able to accommodate me with 2 days notice. Contrary to some reviewers, I thought the previous owners were never friendly and acted like I was inconveniencing them. Also, this location does not deal with wedding cakes, only the Yorba Linda location (and this is not noted anywhere on the website). First thing I noticed walking in is that there was no menu of offerings, or their prices. I asked questions from the two employees working at the time, and received tepid responses. When ringing up there was a miscommunication about my order, despite me saying that I would "pass on x" and that I would "only be getting y and z" The same day I was at Patty's Cakes and the difference in service was clearly evident. For the items themselves, the red velvet cupcake met the high standards of my partner. The cake itself was moist, and the frosting had strong cream cheese flavor while also not being overly sweet. I did not care for the lemon cake with raspberry frosting, primarily because I'm not the biggest fan of lemon in desserts. The flavor was not overpowering, just doesn't belong in sweet treats. The raspberry frosting was quite tasty, the slight tartness balanced with the sweetness, and did help to redeem the lemon overall. The rocky road brownie looked delicious, but $5 for a brownie square is tantamount to highway robbery (and $2 for a mini cupcake when the regular size is $3 is also high). read more

It was too cute, it was hard to cut it up. The flavor was marble cake with white chocolate and chocolate ganache. Oh my gravy! The cake was very light and moist and the ganache just took the quality and flavors to another level. Also, the designs of their cakes are more polished than other places I have gotten my cakes. So yes, their prices are little bit higher than most, but the quality, taste, and appearance of their cakes are superb. This place is THE best place to get your cakes customized!! My sister's friend (Roxy A.) recommended to come to Beverly's to get my boyfriend's brother's birthday cake.. Ok, here comes the hard part.. how the HELL am I going to fit the cake's theme to a FBI agent?!!? So the first thing that came to my mind is of course, the FBI seal.. so I printed out the FBI seal right out of the computer and brought it over to Beverly's for some expert cake advice. I arrived at the bakery, greeted with a friendly smile. The aroma of the bakery just makes you want to go crazy eating all the cookies and cakes in their display (WARNING: do not visit while PMS-ing). I got help from this friendly lady who suggested that I'd do a double layer chocolate vanilla marbled cake, of course, with the FBI seal printed on top of the surface of the cake. So my requests for the cake came rollin' as I had more ideas for the cake: 1. Handcuffs came to mind.. - Yep, they made it happen by drawing super cute silver handcuffs around the cake 2. Birthday message "Happy Birthday Agent (fill in my boyfriend's brother's first name)"- Yep, they also made this happen by writing it in the front of the cake in blue icing with very nice handwriting (yeah, sometimes ugly handwriting just totally ruins beautiful cakes) 3. Ribbons- Yep, they also made THIS happen by putting a gorgeous ribbon around the cake 4. Deadline- Eep, here comes the hard part, getting the cake to me THE NEXT DAY (I know, totally procrastinating much??)- Yep, they also made this happen by getting the cake ready by 4 PM the next day just in time for me to pick it up and drive out to LA for birthday dinner!! It was the attitude when I asked if one would get a better price by buying a dozen versus 1... since I purchased two dozen. The response was a snotty "nope". To the family that owns this bakery, I make a respectful and constructive suggestion... "you are only as good as your last customer and the next bakery that opens." Swagger is good but attitude has no place in your business. It will catch up with you. The cakes, cookies and cupcakes are still great which is why I didn't change my rating, but arrogance needs to be assessed. I am very disappointed at Beverly's Best's customer service. My daughter graduated from grad school from USC yesterday. The day was memorable but chaotic and the planned schedule was shot because it was a nightmare leaving the campus because of the traffic which forced me to be late for the cake pickup. I begged them to wait as I was running late but at 5:15 when I arrived they were gone/closed. My $250 special cake for the event was down the drain. They have all those mentioned, as well as eclairs, canolis, macarons (just a few), brownies (SO GOOD and lots of variations), scones (their scones are the best I've had in my entire 21 years of existence), cake pops and much more. Everything I've had from here was delicious. I recommend everything except for the carrot cake cupcake, which I found too spice filled for my tastebuds. What I DO especially recommend however is the PEACAN BARS! Omg, so so good. **I adore all their seasonal flavors & designs, too! This place is buzzing and making an appointment for cake tasting takes a lifetime. I guess this is the favorite local bakery in the area cause while I was waiting for my tasting to begin they turned down two cake orders because they had reached their quota for the week. The cakes here are definitely not cheap, but at the same time this is not the most expensive bakery I've visited for my wedding cake. The tastings are full size slices of cake so come prepared to eat. I found the cake to be very moist and the filling to be not overwhelming but I wasn't wowed. The red velvet was okay but I found the cream cheese to be too tangy to accompany the sweetness of the chocolate. Their chocolate cake and cookies and cream filling is great though and their french butter cream is yummy. The owner I presume who was helping me was also running around like a chicken with her head chopped off taking phone calls and such during my tasting. Such a cute bakery with pink and lime green walls and cute cake samples displayed in every direction. I came here with my girlfriend to order her birthday cake and the ladies here were really accommodating, not sweet, but they were nice. Asking us details of what she wanted and helping us keep it in her price range, and when I inquired about a different cake, she even took the effort to go inside, spoke with one of the bakers, came back out with a picture and price quote of exactly what I had envisioned. As for the taste of the cake, it was delicious, very moist and not too sweet. We also bought some cookies, which we also thought was delicious. I am SOOO happy I found this bakery on Yelp! I wanted to make a custom cake for my bfs 29th birthday. He is a huge fan of Jonnie Walker Black. I wanted to make the cake special, so what better than a Johnnie Walker cake? I found some images on google and email'ed it to Jennifer (the owner) and she was pretty quick with her responses. I liked the fact that Jennifer gave me price options and really tried to help me. I thought that was very nice and thouhgtful. So we came to the conclusion of having a chocolate outside with chocolate cake and cookies n cream frosting. When I came to the bakery to pick up the cake, I was a bit apprehensive because I had no clue what to expect. When they showed me the cake, I was pleasantly suprised. They did an awesome job sketching the Johnnie Walker man. The cake was great surprise for my bf and he loved it! He said this was the best cake he has ever had! That means a lot... The only mishap with the cake was that.... *drum roll* my bf dropped the entire uneaten cake on the floor!!!!!!!!! Yup, blame it on the al al al al alcohol (too much Johnnie Walker). Brea has some of the "best" stuff around. I use this term because, well, they claim it on their restaurant name. You have Brea's Best, which blatantly claims to have the best burgers in Brea. Now, we have Beverly's Best. Though technically in Fullerton, it is practically in Brea. Known for their grandeur specialty cakes, I was more interested in their pastries and dessert items. After lunch, I made it a treat to come here for something sweet. I must say, our dessert was much larger than our actual lunch. We had the fruit tart, cherry scone, chocolate cupcake, and Key lime bar. The fruit tart had mandarin oranges, blueberries pineapple, kiwi, strawberry, and a raspberry. The custard inside was perfectly sweet and creamy, but the best part was the crust. It wasn't too buttery or cookie like, but had the perfect balance of crisp and density. This was a solid fruit tart, and something to consider if you are only going to get "not a cake". If you do want a cake, but not a whole cake, their cupcakes can be something to consider. Though you get the whole cake experience without getting the whole thing, their cupcakes to me were average. Nothing really stood out. Their chocolate cupcake was light and fluffy, but the frosting was nothing spectacular. I tend to like more dense cakes, especially in cupcakes, and I like more dense frosting, like icing. Theirs was more in the middle. It wasn't really sweet, it wasn't really dense, it was just average. The cherry scone was a surprise, taste wise and in other ways. The scone was dense and almost bready, and the fruit inside was flavorful. I ate this inside of a movie theatre and a dark one at that. I did not know there was a filling inside, and a lot, if not, most of the filling fell on my shirt. Luckily, I was wearing a black shirt, and I just wiped it off. I'm sure nobody saw. It was dark...it was dark. Nobody saw. Though messy, their scones are something to consider. The Key lime bar was interesting. The texture was that of cheesecake, but the taste was totally different. With a definite sour, citrus profile, it was indeed tart. The lime flavor was very prevalent in this and although it was sour, it didn't make me pucker intensely. I feel the Key lime bar could have used a bit more sour to balance out the sweet. I like sour flavors, and if this made me pucker just a little bit more, it would have been perfect. Beverly's Best was an interesting experience. The boutique shop of pastries and specialty cakes had a upscale feel with a down to earth attitude. Rare to find the two in the same category, I found that this bakery was unique it its own way. Hidden away in a strip mall nest to a video store (yes they still exists), this is truly a gem. I was there just to get some snacks, and people just kept coming to pick up their jazzed up cakes. In the short time I was there, 3 different people were there to pick up their cake. I'm not all about fancy cakes with all the color and designs, but this is really making me consider. Maybe next time for someone's birthday, someone will get a nice surprise. :) read more

It usually takes a lot for me to write a bad review but I just had a pretty nasty experience here. I stopped in to see if they had any Halloween cookies or treats for my four-year-old son. I know it's early but a lot of places do and after asking the gentleman at the counter if they had anything he said "no not yet it's 930" and then walked away. Apparently he had to let me know what the date was and that I'm too early. I'm not sure if it's Covid or the heat that's making people grumpy but in these times maybe better customer service would be recommended. read more

WOW is all I need to say ;) Beverly's Best came through and met and went beyond all my expectations for my wedding yesterday :) I couldn't believe how beautiful the cake was and omg it tasted even better! All my friends and family including myself have never really tasted fantastic wedding cakes and I've been to no less than 10 in the last few years. But omg wow, my wedding cake was so good. We chose the marble cake with gnash and bavarian chocolate with light french butter cream. 1. French Butter Cream is soooo good (i usually NEVER eat the frosting or cream since i hate it, but i ate all of mine because it was light and not sweet) 2. The mix of the marble, gnash, and bavarian chocolate sounds sweet, but was just perfect, not too sweet. Every single person loved my cake as well! I ordered my cousins high school graduation cake a week before I needed it and they gladly accepted my order. I had called 4 other bakeries in the area, all which were completely booked due to all the graduations happening that week. I spoke with Molly throughout the ordering process and she was very helpful and quick to respond to my calls. On the day of pick up, the cake was ready when we arrived. It was beautiful and exactly like the picture I had sent. Not only did it look pretty, it tasted soo good! You can't always say that about other bakeries with fancy cakes. The only thing I'd say, is it is a bit pricey. I'm not sure if this was from my last minute order, the high demand that week, or the orange county area, but I didn't hesitate to pay their price, especially since my order was so last minute. I do order from another lady who is about half the price, but that's in downtown LA and you do have to order a month in advance. All in all, the cake was delicious and the service was excellent. So I Google bakeries near me and Beverlys Best in Fullerton poped up. I went yelp and saw it had good solid rating. I'm not going to lie, but i was a little apprehensive based on the bad service reviews. But I felt like I couldn't waste time going to a Vons or Albertsons, since I wanted to get something extra special for my granpa. I went on a Saturday around noon. There were a few people ahead of me. I was greeting and asked what I needed. I asked first if they were able to accomadate a special order cake and she said yes. She asked me to have seat, gave me a number and told me as soon as one of their I pads was charged they'd give me one and a soon as a consultant was available they would help me. I waited about 15 mins, I didn't mind it the shop is supper cute and kind of intimadating I thought they would charge an arm and a leg. I asked some ladies waiting to pick up a cake order if they had ordered from them before and they had nothing but good things to say. And they said the prices are fair based how pretty the cakes are and good they taste. Savanna helped me. She was so patient because I really didn't know how I wanted the cake to look (Casino night theme). She gave me ideas and opinions. She was also conscientious of my budget and made sure she quoted me the correct price. I paid half of the total and will pay remaining when. I pick up the cake. I decided on a white cake with vanilla Bavaria filling with strawberries and a french buttercream A few days later I saw a design I liked at on Pinterest. And stopped by at the shop, fortunately Savanna was there and she had remembered me. She too thought the new design was simpler and a better idea. She rewrote the order. And sent me on my way. I have been buying cakes here for over two decades. Not very happy they now want to charge a $10.00 fee for ordering a cake with under 72 hours notice. I just want to update my review for those who are going to this bakery for the first time. I should not be giving any stars as I have not visited the bakery since the new management took over. However, I don't want to do only 1 star to hurt the business so as of now I am giving 3 stars. I will update after I give a new management a try. After reading other reviews my faith in the bakery is questionable. I was thinking about ordering a cake for a family member's 60th, however, reviews are not looking good and considering the price point I would not want to take a chance to be disappointed. Customer service isn't up to par. Walked in and a lady was being served then other people who walked in after were served before me despite me already being there. Even when this was brought to their attention they just offered to get another person and kept on with what they were doing. Eventually got a good cashier and was helped. read more

I have family that lives in Brea (right next to Fullerton) so for every birthday for the past 9 years my cake has been from Beverly's. I haven't found a cake flavor, icing, or filling that I did not like. My picture may make it look small but it was three layers high and we still had a lot of lefts over after 6 people took their share. In addition to their wonderful cakes they have adorable holiday sugar cookies. Every month they have new cookies depicting every holiday from Easter, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, etc. Not only do the look cute, they don't taste half bad. Careful though, the darker colored cookies (especially the ones during Halloween) will change the color of your mouth and tongue. Their biggest crowd pleaser would be their brownies. When I was in high school, after the end of the year awards they would serve Beverly's brownies and people went after them like vultures. They are seriously some of the most amazing chocolaty heavenly brownies I've ever had. A whole brownie is often too much for even a chocoholic like me, so I either share with friend, or save the other half for later. They have a couple of flavors but the basic one with a bit of powdered sugar on top is my favorite. I think I need to make a trip to Orange County soon :) read more

The young girl Roxy that was initially helping me with my order was so helpful then I believe it was one of the owners a gentleman Rushed her off to finish a tart that needed be Finished.he was abrupt and short ...correcting her on the minimum of cake pops think she felt a little embarrassed. 4.5 stars... This is a terrific little bakery that looks like it could compete in some cake wars show on television... I've come here twice for their cakes so far and have not been disappointed. They have a refrigerated case of nicely decorated cakes with buttercream frosting on a first come first serve basis although I think that they keep replenishing the supply daily from the kitchen in back to refill the case. The first time, I actually scored on a chocolate ganache fondant cake that was in the case, although I was told that fondant cakes are usually not the norm and that I was probably just fortunate enough to be there when they had one. I think I bought it as an anniversary cake for us, I don't remember the exact occasion, but I do remember being very impressed with it -- it was so moist, delicious, and chocolaty... If I were to compare it to a typical Asian cake bakery, I would say that these cakes are a little more dense, less spongy for the cake portion, and that the buttercreme frosting is a little sweeter than the Asian bakery counterpart, although not overwhelmingly sugary sweet like some supermarket frostings. The fondant shell doesn't have a direct counterpart and the closest thing I can compare it to if you're not familiar with it is like the chocolate shell on a ding-dong although fondant is a little softer and much more pliable, which is why it is a cake decorator's staple... I read Kathy C.'s review and although I feel terribly for Kathy's experience and sympathize with her, I can say that my two experiences with BBB and their customer service has been even and exemplary. On my most recent visit, it happened to be days after Kathy C.'s review was posted, so it may have been the case that I was the beneficiary of some positive employee attitude adjustment training, but I can also say that I was here before this and that the customer service I received then was helpful and favorable... They also have other baked goods under the front case; I've had the chocolate chip cookie and I thought it was ok but I think I like Mrs. Fields better. I haven't tried any of their cupcakes... I have and would come back for their terrific looking and delicious cakes. I would put them up there with Porto's as far as breadth and design of their buttercream cakes, but not exactly the same kind of cake as an Asian bakery such as Phoenix Bakery in Chinatown, Dragon Bakery in City of Industry, or King's Hawaiian Bakery in Torrance.
