I've passed by this café so many times, and I am *jazzed* to have finally visited!!!! This place is so awesome. It feels like a pocket of Berkeley or Chicago. Picture a European-style café mixed with a cool local dive. This place is open all day as a café, and every night it transforms into a live music venue. The café's instagram is @thenightowlfullerton, where a schedule of events are posted. I chatted with Joe, the owner, and he told me that this place has been around for 15 years! He runs a tight ship, and has so much passion for this incredible space for community and art. There are books at the front that you (or a small young person) can borrow and enjoy as you sip your drinks and share a pastry. The place is clean and cozy. I really enjoyed the berry latte that Joe suggested. The espresso quality is great, and the drink had the perfect level of sweetness to complement the flavor. The great: All the musicians that play here are amazing! Every single musician I've come to see has been great. Looks like most of them know each other and it's such a tight community. So nice to see! The vibe, the location, the people, all of that is great! The bad: the coffee. Oh man. I regret buying the coffee. Every time I think "maybe it was just a bad day" - but no. Every time the coffee is so bad. Now, listen, I'm just talking about the HOT coffee. I haven't tried the cold/iced coffee. So maybe try the cold one. I'll be back for the great music. First off; the actual look and vibe of this place is absolutely incredible! It's so cozy and definitely gives off very comfortable and good vibes! It's so gorgeous and honestly it's the time of place you'd wanna study in. However, the actual coffee itself is not good. If you're looking for a place with homemade syrups this is not it. I ordered a Samoa latte and it unfortunately tasted like straight Torani syrup which was unfortunate. The flavor was just very artificial. Came here for coffee but this time I ended up with a flavored lemonade drink and while it's made with Minute Maid lemonade, it really hit the spot since there are constant heat waves these days. I loved the patio area which I seem to have never sat on before which is weird because there is so much space out there. Great inviting vibe, from the mismatched old wooden furniture to the vintage lighting, to the setup for open mic night. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered an ice honeybee latte from the special menu with whole milk. Very refreshing and just the right level of sweetness. They have pastries from Homeboy Bakery. They looked fantastic but I wasn't hungry, having just eaten recently. Next time! We sat at the table for two at the front window which had perfect natural lighting to read. This coffee shop is such a vibe! I love it. It's got a naturally dark and spooky ambiance. It's still very trendy. The coffee drinks are fun. They have such unique coffee flavors! The banana bread latte tastes EXACTLY like banana bread. It's wild to be honest!! If you love banana bread, this is it! Order this one! You will love it. I also tried the iced pumpkin spice latte. This is a cozy, old-school coffee shop. The interior is dark and relaxing, with sunlight streaming in through the windows and spotlighting the owl figures on the windowsill. There are a good number of indoor tables and seats, as well as some outdoor seating. The samoa latte (if I recall the name correctly) was delicious. It was a nice sweet treat with a good level of chocolate flavor to tongue. The barista who helped us was super friendly! We felt very welcomed from beginning to end. It is also amazing that this spot apparently hosts open mic events! We were told that they love supporting the local community and music scene that way. EXCEPTIONAL! I just started teaching at FCC and enjoy learning about the community I'm in so I asked one of my students who shared they love coffee what his go to place was and he sent me here! This recommendation is definitely earning him an "A" ;) (jk, jk). I've stopped by twice and have not been disappointed. The Night Owl is small but this doesn't take away from how inviting it is, in fact I think it's inviting in how cozy it seems. I had the maple iced coffee on one visit and the banana nut latte on another. Oh, I also treated myself to one of their chocolate chip cookies (not warmed up) and it took me back to the cookies I used to buy in high school from the cafeteria! So damn good! And the service! The same person has taken my order both times and he is sooo friendly, so personable. I haven't worked through my awkwardness yet so it's on me that I didn't get his name, I will on another visit. I like my drink with some flavor but not sugary and both time that I've asked for "light syrup" he's said "our espresso is so great I try to balance that out" and you know what, he is a master at his craft! The service was amazing and so so sweet. I arrived earlier than when they open at 9 am - online it says 8 am but the owner let me in because of my doggy Luna (Dogs are also allowed inside)! They do a lot of music or live events (posters/flyers were everywhere) and the ambiance was so awesome! I ordered a Banana Bread Latte with soy milk and a cinnamon roll, and both were so good. Looking for a late night coffee shop vibe in DTF then night owl is it. They have been around for several years and I have always passed by in my younger club days but never stopped in. Well your girl doesn't go to dtf to party much anymore but I will for coffee! This place pleasantly surprised me. I ordered a Spanish latte and it was absolutely delicious. The pastries looked good but it was 9pm right after dinner so I didn't get to dabble in the pastries. We stopped in Night Owl for the first time for some of their unique latte flavors. I tried the spiced maple latte and , while it was good, I wish the flavoring was stronger. Staff were extremely friendly! I was greeted within seconds of walking in the door and had my drink in hand a few minutes later. 10/10 service, great place place to study, kinda crazy prices I went here about a week ago with a friend who's a regular who loves this place. I got one of her favorites (sex by the peach lol) which was honestly pretty sweet, even for a tea/lemonade drink. Wasn't a huge fan, felt a bit ordinary for the price. But today my friend and I wanted to get some writing done and this is her favorite coffee shop in the area to work. I decided to get the iced regular size Caramel Apple Chai because I was looking for something without coffee with cinnamon. I'm allergic to diary so I got soy milk as an alternative which was an extra 65 cents (very reasonably priced compared to other cafes). Without tip, my total came to $9.03. If I didn't have a milk alternative, my total would've been $8.38. I think the barista noticed my slightly shocked expression at my $9+ drink and apologizing explained that it was because of the tariffs which made a bit more sense. I was REALLY hoping the drink was amazing (because for almost $10 I hope it's the best latte ever lol) and this drink did not disappoint! I was a little worried about my soy milk alternative, but this drink was kinda perfect. It had a good mix of apple and caramel flavors. It tasted like fall! Not too sweet, not too much ice. I don't know if I can normally justify a $10 drink, but this one might be it. The customer service was also excellent. My friend and I worked at one of the tables for a few hours and the barista at the front (Mal) knew multiple returning customers by name and chatted with all of them. It was extremely windy and the door kept flying open, but Mal handled it very well. The customer service here was incredibly personal and made it a great environment to work, write, and study. There was also outlets to use where I could plug in my laptop. Will definitely be returning with my friend. read more

I really wanted a coffee before picking up baby girl from school and her two friends. I haven't been here in a while and so I decided to get a treat for myself before school gets out. I told him I needed to take a picture so not to shake it so I get a good shot. Lol he said the pressure was on but I said no, you always make it good came out Perfect I wish I got a large, but today I got a medium. Delicious banana bread latte you'll have to try it. I guess they have music nights which I still need to come and check out one day. The atmosphere is beautiful they have a lot of owls everywhere. This is such a cute and cozy café with live music in the back. Came here not expecting much but a typical coffee shop but was surprisingly impressed with this cafe. They are open a bit later it seems and it wasn't too crowded on a Thursday night. They have a huge selection of coffees, tea, lattes and smoothies. I saw that they have baked goodies as well. Plenty of tables and the outside patio has live band playing when I was there. The music does get a little loud but it's okay too. So glad we stumbled upon such a nice cafe. Not as crowded as other places in the area, fine by me, with a better selection of pastry. After I dropped off my car we stumbled upon this little coffee shop. We showed up initially thinking this had breakfast, but it was actually just a small coffee shop with pastries. Honestly did not disappoint! The service was great! I can't remember his name, however he had soo many suggestions for us to try.
