I had a $25 gift card for BevMo. I knew that 25 bucks wouldn't buy much in the way of booze, so I headed to fridge case where all the meats and cheeses are kept. In addition to a vast selection of everything boozy, BevMo has a great selection of meats, cheeses and snack foods. I picked out a wedge of smoked Gouda with bacon - $7.49, a brick of Cabot "Seriously Sharp Cheddar" - $6.99 and a Spanish cheese plate that had three different sliced wedges of Spanish cheeses - $8.15. That left me with $2.37 on the gift card. I wandered into the chips and snack aisle and found the last bag on the shelf of Chili Cheese Fritos - $2.29. Perfect! I took my cheese and chips to the register and paid with my gift card. I only left 8 cents on the table. Woo hoo! read more

It's been absolute ages since I've stepped foot in a BevMo as I typically like to buy my booze from local shops, but the price was right for a particular bottle that I was recently looking for so I danced with the devil for a second or two. Knowing what I wanted made for a really quick trip, which took about five minutes from the time I walked in to the time that I walked out. Hell, I even had time to sign up for the membership that I thought I already had but apparently didn't. My bottle had to be removed from the case but the nice young lady at the checkout was quick to help. She even opened the box and verified that the correct bottle was in the box because she's right. What a nightmare it would have been to open the box only to find a cheap replacement. While I've always seen the buy one and get another for $0.05 I'd never taken advantage of the deal. One additional bottle that I purchased qualified for an even cheaper total and at the end of the transaction I was told that I saved over $70.00. Radical. This BevMo in Santee in Mission Gorge has some of the best people working there and always a clean and very tidy shopping experience. The people there are pleasant to speak with her gently excited about showing you new items or helping you get old favorites. I believe this has something to do with management, and how they treat their people and how they are trained in customer service. As I walked in, I noticed that there was the five cent sale on spirits. I just got my mind working end up, leaving with a couple extra bottles of my favorite Bourbons all the great price. The cashier named Megan is very personable and a wonderful person, and a real asset to the company. read more

BevMo in Santee. Hell to the yes! Went by tonight to pick up some supplies. They have everything under then sun and then some! I picked up a chocolate soda, a black cherry soda, a 6 pack of Great White and a 12 pack of Molson (I haven't seen Molson around at any stores in a long ass time...its one of my favorite beers so I was glad they had it). Signed up for a club card and saved a couple of bucks. If you need something, make that anything, to drink, this is your place in Santee. The staff was friendly and the prices were good. Gosh the last time I was in this part of town was to get some baklavas from Baklava King. We visited this BevMo location over the weekend because they were the only location that had our favorite Bells beer. All the other locations had been sold out and the nice staff at Mission Valley said Santee should have a few left at their location. I called this location and the helpful girl said they had two left and would hold them for me. Note that the inventory on their computers doesn't necessarily reflect what they currently have sold last two days (from what I was told). They also carry gourmet cheeses and meats for snacks. I even saw their own brand of growlers. This Santee location is pretty spacious and well organized. They have a TON of minis which made me swoon. They are located next to the 99c store. First impression? Quite a small sized Bevmo! Had some time to kill before Pilates (same plaza) and knew I needed to stock up on some wine so I wandered in hoping they had the 5 cent wine sale going on... just my luck, it was!! I go right into the red wine section and browse my favorite Pinot Noir as well as most of the reds wines on sale. Spotting a sales associate I ask to be pointed to where the Barolo is stocked. I am met with a blank stare and a "what's that?". I inform her an Italian wine but never mind I'll locate myself. A bit shocked that a wine store employee isn't knowledgeable on wine let alone the inventory... how do you make recommendations for meal pairings, flavor profiles, etc. I settled on a few purchases and was out the door. Nice folks here, but check dates on beer. This was the second time I got sub par beer. Usually beer has a freshness of six months. The beer I bought was from June 2022. It's Feb 2023. I'll still drink it but it does taste a little funky. Usually a month past, the date isn't a big deal, however, I've been doing a little research and found out that the storing techniques BevMo uses leads to lowering the quality of the beer. read more

Brand new BevMo! Grand opening was Friday, Oct. 19 and the line went around the block because the first 500 shoppers through the door received a free gift bag valued at $50. This new BevMo is right next to Fresh & Easy and is a great new shopping addition to the Santee scene. I checked out some of the good opening day deals they had going: there was some fancy bottles of name brand booze at reduced prices and excellent values on wine and beer. I am not much of a drinker myself but I usually hand out liquor to my brothers & ex-husband for Christmas presents. BevMo! is the place to go for that. I called looking for a certain type of pre-made margarita mix, the lady who answered told me that they had it in stock. When I arrived 15 minutes later I couldn't seam to find it. While I was there was a man working in the front (not at the registers) a older gentleman walked up to him and asked him for help. He told the guy it was down the aisle. Instead of walking and showing the guy where it is, the man walk down the aisle and the employee started yelling at him across the store "stop, it's right there" you've gone to far" the older gentleman couldn't find it and kinda threw up his hand in frustration. The employee mumbled under his breath "god damn open your eyes old fart" I was appalled at the lack of customer service the store gave. Buyer beware!! Looked up Cakebread Cellers Chardonnay and found 11 bottles in stock for $66.99. Was an ok price for a 2014 with an average retail of $69.99. When I got there, there was no 2014 but offered the 2016. 2016 has an average retail of $39.99. I didn't check the receipt until later that night. $66.99! They price to the highest price vintage no matter! They say they don't guarantee a vintage but they don't tell you they still charge you for the most expensive no matter what vintage you end up with. I came here on a Friday evening after a rough week at work and left happy. This location is convenient being near so many other stores in the area but it isn't one of the larger locations I have been to. Regardless, it has more than enough to pick from. I came wanting a bottle of wine and my husband wanted some craft beer. While going through the aisles I stopped to look at the ciders since I love cider and got beyond excited when I saw some cider from upstate NY. The place is only about 30 minutes away from where I am from and I knew it was great cider. The cider was a staff pick and that is one smart staff member... because why would you get cider from California when you can have cider from apple country???? When I cashed out I made sure the staff knew they should be giving the one who picked the cider out a pat on his back. The prices are average compared to what I find elsewhere and most are cheaper than the grocery store. They do often run sales and have some great deals on their items. The staff was friendly and helpful when I was looking for the beer my husband wanted. Overall, a great location to get what you need with friendly and smart staff. read more

I buy items for personal use and I also buy very nice items for gifts for personnel in my company and friends. BevMo emails me discount offers on a weekly basis. I went to the store to buy some nice gifts with the printed discount offer. In checking out the man at the register said I can't honor that you didn't print the additional pages that contained the bar code. I said I didn't like to print the entire offering of about 10 pages of all of the advertised products and only printed the first page to save paper. I said you asked for my phone which brings up information about me and certainly you have something to scan or ask a manager for assistance. The answer was no I can't do it. I left the store with over $300.00 worth of some nice items left on the counter. If this was my store I would have a serious discussion about finding ways to take care of customers. BevMo has a new competitor in town that is pretty nice to shop at. Businesses need to make customers feel good about doing business with them. read more

Just like all of the other BevMos, they have assorted wine, beer, spirits, mixers, etc. They have good service. Nice clean place. Lots of choices available. Plenty of helpful people to ensure you get exactly what you need. Plenty of parking in the strip mall. However, a rather sneaky way to increase their membership. I picked out two bottles of Korbel that was listed on the shelf for $9.99 each. The clerk at the register said "if you sign up for membership, you can save $11". I'm thinking, wow, this would be like buy one get one free! Wouldn't you if you saw on the shelf it was $9.99 ea? Then have him say you can save $11 if you sign up for their membership? Well, that's not the case. One bottle in the computer system was originally $16.99 on sale for $9.99; the other was originally $13.99 on sale for $9.99. Yes, it's an $11 savings, but I would have gotten that without signing up for membership! Sneaky to my way of thinking. Not a big fan of deception. We get enough of that with the news and our government representatives. Anyway, as soon as I get their email, I plan on hitting the unsubscribe button. Sorry, but that is just I see it. I placed an order through DoorDash and Bevmo only supplied half of the order to the Dasher (was supposed to be 2 of each item and they supplied 1). I let the Dasher know and he said I needed to call DoorDash, which I did. DoorDash gave me the option of refunding the difference or processing a another order to get the items I paid for and did not receive. I went with the latter option and DoorDash placed me in hold to confirm that this was an option with the store. When they got back on the line they let me know that the store would provide the missing items and that the Dasher was on his way back to the store. Upon arrival, the Dasher called me and asked me to clarify the situation with the store. When I got on the line the BevMo rep told me they were not going to "just give you things for free" I explained the situation and let him know I had in fact paid for the items and that I did not receive them. He told me take it up with DoorDash and tried to disconnect the call. I explained I had and that they called the store before returning at which point the BevMo rep became very rude and abrasive toward me and the Dasher. Given the situation with COVID-19 and everyone being under extreme stress I tried to be understanding and de-escalate the situation at which point he abruptly ended the conversation by saying the driver had what he needed and hung up while I was still speaking. I received the missing items and the Dasher was more than apologetic. When I called the BevMo manager to let him know of the unacceptable behavior by his employee, he proceeded to reprimand me for using DoorFash in the first place saying that they get orders wrong all the time. Fast forward 2 weeks, BevMo has their own app now so figured it would be the best route for ordering since they highly disliked DoorDash. There weren't any options for same-day delivery so we selected the only pickup window available between 7:45 & 8pm. The order confirmation email specifically said to wait for an "order ready for pick up" email before heading to the store, so I did. 7:55 rolled around and still no email so I decided to call the store to confirm before heading over. The same BevMo rep answered and said that I'd need to get there in 5 minutes because they are closing and if I didn't receive the email then it wasn't ready. So I cancelled the order and will never purchase another item from BevMo again due to their poor service, communication, and execution. Hopefully their other stores handle online orders better than Santee. read more

This is the walmart of liquor stores. Yes they have a fair collection of beer and wine but the staff has no personality, zero, sorry to say. You see the same people almost every weekend and have a conversation with them, then the following weekend they look at you as if you are a stranger. This is offensive to me so I'll take my business across town where they know you by name. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I like to know who I'm doing business with, If I am going to give you my patronage. I am writing this about the website's service, but I cannot find them on here so I am giving the review to a random BevMO store. I ordered a bottle of Lagavulin online. It was supposed to be the 1996 distillers addition. Instead, I got the 1999 distillers addition. My receipt clearly says 1996. The bottle, however, says 1999. So I have to go through the trouble of dealing with customer service. They reroute me through the warehouse. They inform me, through email, that they made a mistake and that there is no 1996 in their stock, and the 1999 was listed that by mistake. They then tell me I can keep the bottle or send it back. Sending it back was going to be a headache, so I decided to keep it. I slept on it and was more pissed when I woke up. They essentially gave me the bait and switch, and when called on it, they did not even offer to make the situation right. So I contacted customer service again, hoping that they could discount the bottle or something. Again, I was rerouted through the warehouse. This time I was informed that they did not give discounts or gift cards to make amends for their errors unless the order is over a thousand dollars! Instead, they offered to give me free shipping on the bottle, a whole whopping $15, on a $130 bottle that I would not have ordered if it had been listed properly. Oh, and they offered to give me free shipping on my next order. Like I would use them again. What really blows me away, is that they never really copped to screwing up big time. And not giving discounts for their own mistakes on anything less than thousand dollars is the most ridiculous policy I have ever heard of. I usually only use BevMo when I can't find what I want anywhere else. Now, though, I will be looking other places. I am left feeling royally screwed over. Two thumbs way down. read more

I stopped by the other day to re-purchase a wine I first bought in La Mesa. I had been to 3 other stores and was told by all of them that there was no such thing as the wine I was asking for. When I went to the Santee location, the guys working searched through their system, found the wine and said that the other locations who turned me down had over 50 bottles of the wine I asked for.
