First time at Corey's today. Pros: Very friendly and informative staff. Large selection of menu items. Generous portions. Nice atmosphere. Cons: The bottom of both our Asiago bagels were so hard they were inedible. We ended up removing them to eat the huge sandwich. The onions were sliced thin but were very stringy. Although generous, $36.70 for 2 sandwiches and 2 small sides was high for a deli lunch. We'd like to think that this was just a bad day for their Asiago bagels, and it was at the end of the day, but that didn't allow us to eat them. We may try again, but the cost is a deterrent. read more

There was so much chatter about Corey's on my social media. I have a favorite bagel place but it is a long drive to Skokie to grab bagels on a whim, so I thought we would give Corey's a try. We ordered a salmon sandwich and a bagel with a schmear. They were okay, after all the hype, I really thought they were going to be something super special. Corey's was clean, very clean. I've been to the one on Dearborn in Chi many times. These are good, properly made bagels, and they take pride in their process. Of course the cream cheeses make them go Clark to Superman. They're firing up NYC style pies too. The atmosphere is loud and upbeat...and the noise is coming from behind the counter. Give a tip or ring the bell as you leave for some bonus celebratory eruptions. I, most always get savories like the Lox or a Build your Breakfast. I'll get ham, egg, cheese, chive cream cheese. So far so good. The bagel I had was hot and tasty. I bought a baker's dozen and 2 cream cheeses. Chives and green onions are not the same thing and don't have the same flavor profile. Stop calling it Chive Cream cheese when it's all green onions.But...ill keep calm and chive on.... read more

Easily making my top 5 bagel spots! Corey's has a couple of downtown Chicago locations but expanded to Algonquin not too long ago. Corey himself was working when we visited and interacted with customers. Every time someone tips, they ring a bell for staff to say kudos. Their bagels are NY Style, seemed super fresh, and had a bunch of flavors and combinations to try. They also offer a number of prefixed breakfast sandwiches as well as byo option. My husband tried the Everything Bagel with Nova Lox Spread. I made my own Bagel Sandwich with egg, bacon, swiss cheese on a Garlic Herb bagel. WOW! This breakfast sandwich was everything I wanted it to be and more. I should have gotten a bit of spread on it but it was still delicious. The Garlic Herb bagel was unlike anything I've tried before. The Lox Spread was also very fresh tasting and both bagels were super fluffy. I highly recommend trying out Corey's bagels either in the burbs or the city! I will certainly be back for that breakfast sandwich or to try other combinations they offer! read more

I popped in one morning for some fresh bagel goodness and was served up proper. My expectations were met. While waiting on my order I listened to one of the guys working there explain the whole bagel making process to some fire fighters. Maybe it was Corey talking, maybe not, but he was pretty insightful . The inside is bright, clean, and all the staff greet you when you walk through the door as if you were Norm on the show "Cheers". I happily took my veggie sandwich on everything bagel with chives shmear to work for breakfast. It was delicious, heavy, and full of flavor. The sandwich was a little pricey, but had plenty of veggies on it. It also came with a good sized dill pickle spear. I'm already ready to go back for more. read more

With two locations in downtown Chicago, Corey's has come to the NW suburbs, opening on Randall Road (fast becoming restaurant row) in Algonquin. In a small strip mall between Huntley Road and the Parkway, they are open from early morning until midafternoon, serving your favorite bagels, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and coffee drinks. I was pleased with the service, atmosphere, and variety of choices. I chose a toasted everything bagel with regular cream cheese. They are very generous with their toppings and cut the bagel in quarters for easy handling. The area has needed an authentic bagel outlet, and I'm glad they are here, wish them success. BTW? We went to Corey's I believe the first months they were open. We had lunch there, but regretted it since the music was so loud and blasting we couldn't talk to each other. I see why everyone else was picking up their food and leaving. There's a point to where you have background music or you feel like you're in a nightclub. Employees were nice and all bopping around to the music. I don't know how they can do that day after day. read more

Great bagels! A bit expensive but you can tell the ingredients are good quality. Probably the best bagel I've had in the Midwest. There is room for improvement in the coffee area. Iced coffee was a no go, not strong enough and the syrup wouldn't mix in. read more

We order two build your own breakfast bagel sandwiches, basic but so delicious and the customer service here was awesome. Staff was patient as it was our first time and whenever you tip, they cheer in unison. It def made us smile. And also when you ring the bell on the way out the door. Great bagels, drinks and service. However, there was no parking on Saturday morning due to dance classes next door. Food is good I've been there several times. Today I went in ordered four Bagels and for four slices of onion and four thin tomato slices they charged me $8 when I mentioned it to the employee he didn't offer to really understand my concern, very indifferent in aloof and hit me with an excessive charge for just a few cucumbers sliced extremely thin four slices of onion and 4th and tomato slices I don't mind paying but that was excessive and he had a bad attitude about it. So if you feel like getting ripped off then I would say don't be surprised going there when they excessively charge, I paid it he didn't say thank you for coming in he was put off that I had a slight concern, by the way that is never happened before the excessive charge when I asked for three or four slices of thin tomato and a couple shavings of onion I never paid $8 read more

EDIT-- 02/21/2025: We went back today and met Corey and his incredible wife. All I'm going to say is, GO AS SOON AS YOU CAN to Corey's NYC Bagel Deli. Today we tried the hot pastrami with swiss and spicy mustard on wheat and we also tried one of their signature items (which is the Nova Lox) with chive cream cheese on a salt bagel. Absolutely fantastic, super great food, super amazing people! 10/10! ORIGINAL REVIEW: For a place that has only been open for a week in Algonquin, I am incredibly impressed. As with any new business in the area (remember, just new to the area - they have other stores including the flagship store downtown), there are going to be growing pains with things like staff training, order accuracy, etc. The one thing they had for sure was great counter customer service and behind the counter efficiency. Very impressed with that. The food, once the issues were resolved, was actually really good (especially the rugelach and the potato salad - super good)! What really blew me away more than anything else, though, was when I called to go over a few items that weren't perfect was the owner himself, Corey. He answered the phone when I called, we chatted for about 10 minutes, he listened, took full ownership of the minor mistakes, and legit was a 10/10 in terms of customer service and genuine care for the situation. Really, really impressed with this as you don't find many places that do this anymore. In my line of work, we live and die by the type of service and care we provide to our customers - Corey's business model is very similar. At the end of the day, keep in mind two big things here: 1) These are true, traditional, NY style kettle bagels. These are made fresh each day. They are SUPPOSED TO BE hard on the outside and soft in the center. If this isn't your jam, that's totally ok - get some other type of bread they offer for sandwiches. If you are used to the 'Einstein', 'Panera', or 'Dunkin' style soft bagels, this is not that. These are supposed to be different. 2) If you order any type of cream cheese, it is made fresh. I personally ordered the chive cream cheese for my breakfast sandwich and was very surprised with the large chunks of FRESH CHIVES in the cream cheese (lol). It was HELLA strong O_O. Really good, but yeah - STRONG hahaha :-). Make sure you know what you're ordering. All that said, the folks in the store are a new staff (minus the owner), so be patient and be kind - they're learning too and, in my opinion, doing a great job! We will see you all soon for another lunch Corey - keep up the great work with your new store! P.S. The rugelach coffee cake was STUPID GOOD (lol). I can't recommend that enough! read more

DISGUSTING!!! Disgusting for a number of reasons! First and foremost, I don't feel like being slobbered on so to speak by the cashier because he thinks that that's going to get me to buy more bagels! It was disgusting. He couldn't even pay attention long enough to place my order! That brings me to my order. I ordered the chicken salad and everything bagel lightly toasted two times it came out burnt to a crisp. The third time it went through it was practically still raw! Then the owner's wife comes around. What a bimbo! Let me tell you something lady talking poorly about other businesses is not going to bring you more business! If you feel the need to go around to your two tables and ask them how their food is maybe find something else to talk about! Finally this place is open! The bagels are REAL kettle boiled bagels and you can taste it! Love love love. I got a BLT sandwich on an everything bagel that came out fresh out of the oven. Crazy expensive and not very good. Got the blt egg bagel. There wasn't a single customer there but I've seen them busy going by.

True to it's name the bagels have the right taste, texture, and behavior of a NYC bagel. There's subtle differences in freshness, size, and seasoning between each bagel. They have that handmade quality of not being uniform. They're real bagels too, they go stale if you don't freeze them, and you bring them back to life or the freshness you want a variety of ways. That's the experience I'm used to, grabbing a dozen bagels on the north side, and enjoying them throughout the week. Corey's delivered that same experience. I didn't know a place like this existed outside of Chicago and the north side. I've been twice now and the staff has been very friendly and joking around with me each time. I was confused the first time in and Corey saw, stopped over himself and greeted me, and thanked me for coming in. The place has a flow to it though, you order on one end and get your food on the other. There's a few tables and a lunch counter at least, but I haven't been in for a sandwich yet. I see people ordering sandwiches, it looks like a nice place to relax and have breakfast, but I'm usually grab and go. Next visit I'll have to stop for a Lox sandwich, I have a feeling it'll be authentic. read more

It's ok I guess. Maybe I just don't get bagel shops? I like bagels as much as the next guy but these don't taste that much different than other bagels I've had. The sandwiches are just kind of blazey (no idea if I'm spelling that right) and very expensive. It just seems like a run of the mill bagel shop to me with a Jimmy Johns style marketing scheme. I had kind of the same "meh" reaction to big apple bagels in Elgin too though, so again maybe I just don't get bagel shops. For my money there's a lot more interesting food in the area, even in the suburbs. The service was very good though, I will give them a nod there. read more

I was excited for a good bagel place in the area & Corey's did not disappoint! Fresh, soft in the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. For cream cheese I opted for the strawberry cream cheese as a yummy option for my daughter and it was perfect, not too sweet or too overpowering but just great!
