This very popular chicken chain has now made its way from Korea to Carlsbad California. BHC Chicken is a fried chicken chain from South Korea that serves chicken dusted in a sweet-cheesy-garlicky bburinkle seasoning. I first encountered them at Rancho Bernardo and was pleasantly pleased by my meal, but very disappointed their establishment was set up TO-GO only. With this Carlsbad location, customers have the option to dine-in or take out their food. Conveniently located just off of El Camino Real and across from the Carlsbad Mall , I believe this chain will be popular in the area. There's plenty of free parking in the joint parking lot, although minimal, there is seating inside, the service is very attentive, and the food is excellent! They are very well known for their BBURING seasoning, which is like a dusty, cheesy, garlic seasoning that is flavorful and adds a unique taste to anything it's added to. Although they do have menu options such as noodles, fries, cheese twists, cheese balls and crispy chips (similar to Doritos), they are best known for their crispy chicken. This is not to be confused with the typical Nashville, hot-chicken style that is trendy. Their chicken is crispy & savory first, with just the right spicing & flavor for chicken enthusiasts. My favorite is the MATCHO KING & GOLD KING style of chicken, each drizzled in a zesty sauce, that is pungently sweet, garlicky, salty and spicy. VERY ADDICTIVE!! I also love their BBURING chips and they are best enjoyed when served fresh, warm & crispy! Overall, I really like the option to have BHC chicken nearby in Carlsbad and I prefer their style over the typical "hot chicken" style that is trendy.

BHC Chicken was great! The chicken was freshly cooked, juicy and full of flavor. Have tried multiple different Korean fried chicken places and this is my personal favorite. Service was friendly. Definitely will be back as a regular!

Glad a Korean fried chicken place opened up in this area. Their classic fried was delicious and perfectly crispy. Also got to try their Matcho King sauce -- I'm not a fan of sweet sauces, which is why I always get mine plain. I almost tried their bburinkle, which was described as a cheese powder, but glad I didn't because it also has sugar in it. If you don't like sweet, gotta stick with plain at Korean chicken places! It's very much a casual takeout spot, but they do have tables and service for dine in. Service was great. They were out of drumsticks, and sounded like they weren't going to get them anytime soon. Hope they'll restock at some point in the future; drumsticks are the best!

SIGNATURE SANDWICH (fried chicken thigh pieces, lemon-yogurt sauce, mayo, pickles, red onion, leaf lettuce, and tomato) still wrapped

I have been beyond curious about BHC CHICKEN since seeing the signage go up late spring or early summer and finally got around to giving 'em a try. ordered the SIGNATURE SANDWICH (fried chicken thigh pieces, lemon-yogurt sauce, mayo, pickles, sliced red onion, leaf lettuce, and tomato) on a soft roll. would have liked the chicken crispier. it steamed in the roll and got a bit soggy. the breading on the chicken and the roll dominated everything else (including the chicken). the sandwich was messy but still pretty good. also got a side of BBURING CHEESE BALLS. I had no idea what they were either but they had me at fried bits of cheesy deliciousness. about the size of a ping pong ball, they were definitely all that, skip the chips. since I had no clue what bburing cheese balls might be beyond what I crudely discerned from the obvious, I looked 'em up when I got home: a BBuring Cheese Ball is a small chunk of mozzarella cheese wrapped in a sweet, chewy, mochi-like glutinous rice dough, fried, and dusted with "bburinkle" seasoning, a BHC signature blend of powdered cheese, garlic, onions, and sugar. I have a brand new guilty pleasure. a very distinct flavor profile that's sweet, savory, and tangy. totally unique in my experience and very, very good. neglected to order wings in one of their multitude of flavors, and that's totally on me. the good news, is now I have a ready excuse to visit again soon.

The macho king tenders were awesome. Maybe could have been a bit crispier when brought to the table, but the flavor profile of the sauce is great. Fries are OK, potato wedges are better, cheese balls are ... different? Not my jam but that is a taste issue. First time we had fried and hot fried and it was way crispy and good as well. Small spot, clean, nice people helping you.

This location has been open for two weeks and they are already selling out of items in their menu. BHC in Carlsbad is located across the street from the Shoppes at Carlsbad, right by Vons. I ordered the 16 pc Hot Fried Chicken Wings. I enjoyed the crispiness and juiciness of the chicken. The flavor is nice too. I didn't really think it was that spicy though, so only reason why I'm giving it a 4/5. The Kimchi Fried Rice was tasty and actually more spicy than the Hot Fried Chicken. The side of radish was delicious!! Super crunchy and pickled. The cheese bread is good if you're looking for a sweet cheese bread dessert. Staff here are friendly and they have indoor seating for dine-in. It's a cute restaurant that serves traditional Korean dishes and specializes is fried chicken wings. I like how clean the restaurant. They also have a TV for dine-in visitors. The atmosphere is welcoming I plan on coming back to check out their other flavors and drumsticks.

I had to run some errands in the area and I let my husband pick where we are going for lunch and he decided we should come here early into our relationship We did a trip to Seoul so I've got a soft spot for Korean fried chicken. We got one of the platters to try with some tenders. I will say I'm really disappointed that you can't get like two sauces or anything when you're getting those platters like it just feels really dumb that you also can't get sauces on the chicken if you're just getting like a four piece wings it just feels really cheap and kind of dumb to be honest so that's why I'm giving four stars and not five stars because what if I wanted to order eight wings but like four of one sauce and 4 of the other, why is that such a heavy lift that this restaurant can't comprehend to doing that?! I digress We got the spam fried rice, which was really spicy. I only say it was spicy because we ordered the chicken tenders to be spicy and the rice was spicier that your chicken so if you love spicy chicken, I don't know if you'll be satiated here. It's a small dining room with some tables. It's really clean that people working. There were really kind, but it just feels like it could be much better with some slight tweaks on what you could order. Don't think we'll be back really

I'm so happy to have a Korean fried chicken place open here in north county! The shop has a modern style and is very clean! I also like their hours open until 10pm Thurs to Sunday when most places around are closed. I really enjoyed their hot fried tenders! These tenders are unique because they are fried with Korean spices in the batter making it spicier and more flavorful. They were very crispy and juicy-not oily whatsoever! We also tried the kimchi fried rice which had a lot of golgijjang flavor and kimchi slices! Exceptional service too- The owner and her employees are very sweet! I thought they made a mistake in my order when it was my own mistake and instead of selling the remake, they gave it to me!

Rice bowl. Comes with the rice, Japchae and chicken (your choice of flavor)

BHC had their grand opening this past Thursday, and I was lucky enough to be in the area to find out. This is a casual place with a few chairs to seat parties of 2-4, or you can combine tables to seat more. Service. Warm, friendly and welcoming. They help answer any questions you have! Food. * Rice bowl. $12.99. You get rice, japchae and chicken. You can replace the rice and get all japchae for + $1 more, but the rice compliments the flavored chicken so you might want to keep the rice. * Chicken Tenders. There's pricing for 4, 8 or 16 pieces, but you can only get this in the classic or hot fried flavor only. I went with the classic so we could try their fried chicken without the sauce and this did not disappoint. We couldn't stop snacking on it. This is such a great option for kids, too. The chicken is juicy and made just right. Eat bite has the right crisp and is consistent, even hours later! Sauces. There are a few spicy options, and 3 non-spicy. * Classic fried. Can't go wrong here. If you want to try the chicken with no flavor, this is your classic fried chicken. * Bburinkle. This is the non-spicy, sprinkled with Korean cheese option. * Gold King. This is with Korean soy sauce and sweet honey + garlic. I had this option with my rice bowl and could not stop eating it! I highly recommend having ordering the chicken without rice. It's SOOO GOOD!! I love that north county is coming up on Asian restaurants. We already can't wait to go back!!

This was my first time here and we decided to dine in, I didn't realize there was a dine in area. It was a bit small, but it was a good atmosphere to eat with friends and the service was phenomenal. We got the BHC platter, and chose the sweet and spicy chicken, upgraded to bburinkle fries, with stir spicy rose rice cakes, and cheese balls. It was a lot of food and is a great deal for the quantity and quality. The food was delicious and our waiter was so kind and had great recommendations, I will definitely be coming back soon.

This location here really has done a great job. Clean, efficient and well oiled machine of goodness. Prices are also very reasonable for the amount of food. We had the variety of fried chicken and sandwiches as well as rice cakes. Everything was spot on and fried to perfection. My only gripe is that they charge for sauces which I think should be free and unlimited with your meal. Overall still a great stop

Good: - Good services - big parking lot - bathroom available for customers Bad: - few tables available - No beer available at that time ** Fried chicken - Extra crispy!! ** Jalapeño soy chicken - Spicy and flavorful * Cheeseball ** Mala creamy ddukboki - good but personally wish it was little more spicy *** Gratuity is included ***

As noted by its name, this place served a fusion of Chinese and Korean cuisines. Their Encinitas location took over what used to be a roadside diner along N Coast Hwy 101. The seating capacity was less than 40 people which included a few high-top counter spots. At my last visit, I came for a late dinner before their closing time. A large menu was posted on the wall behind the service counter that listed about two dozen food offerings. The items seemed to be comfort food like pot stickers, spring rolls, fried rice, and chicken wings but flavored with unique combinations of seasonings and spices. I started my meal with the Marinated Beef Tri-Tip Skewers which came as a set of three and a Chinese mustard for dipping. The meat was very tender and well-seasoned. I also ordered the Cumin Lamb Stir Fry which the cashier said was medium spicy. After tasting a couple of bites of the noodles from the serving bowl, I agreed that the heat level was moderate, even for my palate. I thought the portion size should have been more for the price. That was my main criticism for both items, otherwise the food was solid for an Asian fusion eatery.

Our server was fantastic, the setup clean, and the menu was fairly easy to navigate. Where it fell apart for me all came after that. This is not my style of cooking. So many places I've been to, where you cook your own food on a grill or hot plate at your table, you're mainly dealing with thin cuts of meat, salt and pepper, and possibly a dipping sauce. This makes the cooking simple, a quick sear, a light crust on the beef or pork, and the finished product is basic and delicious. Shabu, though ... it's boiled meat. That's not to say that Tabu Shabu isn't good, but unless you're really adept at making soups, it's easy to be completely out of your element. And I can safely say I was a bit over my head at this restaurant. You start with your broth, where I am ashamed to admit that instead of opting for the Tonkostu with its deep and rich fatty flavor, I chose the basic umami of the White Miso. Because of that, I spent most of my meal mistakenly chasing flavors I would normally find in a Ramen Shop. They give you a plate of chopped herbs to add and some basic instructions ... I like garlic, so I added the whole thing, radish sound alright, so add in the whole ball, what was the last thing I put in? They give you a few squeeze bottles of oils with paper labels ... this one makes it more sour, this one makes it more spicy, this one has sesame, and I'm too timid to add enough of any to truly add to the flavor of the broth, so it just keeps that basic umami flavor without being as salty as it should be. Then you have a plate of vegetables to steep in your creation. Cabbage, broccoli, spinach, bok choy, tofu ... all of it serves as a way of soaking up that broth you've made. Other options, like the carrots, mushrooms, and squash, become sweet and tender after taking their turns in the pot. And they're nice as they offer a different flavor other than that umami. And then there's the meat. A wide variety of options ranging from salmon, to chicken, to pork, all the way down to multiple versions of beef. But, all of the meats we ordered seem to differ only in texture after spending some time in that broth. Some fell apart on the tongue, some still had a nice chew, but all shared that umami from the pot, with an aftertaste of beefy flavor before swallowing. After a few initial pieces, I found myself thankful for the dipping sauces to distract me from how boring I had made my broth to be. You also get a choice of rice, which I don't think you really need. You get a choice of noodles, which they give you a good amount where it doesn't fill you up with carbs. And anything left over is readily bagged up to eat at home after the flavors mix together and mature. In the end, it's a very filling and fairly healthy meal. I think it's difficult to not compare this to eating a bowl of Pho or Ramen. All the ingredients are there, just instead of eating it with a spoon, you pull out the individual bits with some chop sticks and pretend you're not eating boiled beef and spinach. If I were a better cook, or had another ten visits worth of practice, Tabu Shabu could easily be 4-5 stars. As it is, though, I think I would rather just go to GONZO and get another chef's creation to be sure of the flavors I want. Regardless, I want to come back here and try again one day. The variety of options and the wait staff alone are enough for me to learn more and expand my Shabu options, as well as recommend this place to others.

It was a relaxing, chill atmosphere with lots of tvs. The server, Jaz was really nice, friendly and very hospitable. She spoke of their Guamanian food, heritage and community. They've been in the current spot for the last 7 or 8 months, so fairly new, but were down the street for many years before that. We ordered 2 different kinds of BBQ chicken wings. Two orders of the sweet chili glazed (Pine Doni) and one of the other which was like a honey bbq glazed style. All were supposed to have 6 wings, but the honey BBQ one had 5 (?). The sweet chili was our fave of the two. Their chicken empanadas were huge, and served 3 per dish, were delicious and crispy, with an aioli like sauce with a wonderful kick. The spam roll was a masubi-like and was good (husband said it was the best he's ever had). The side of mac salad had great flavor! Jaz brought us some red rice to try on the house and it was really good! It reminded me of Vietnamese chicken rice, with chicken broth infused into the rice, making it really tasty and savory. I had been craving them for weeks and it didn't disappoint. The filling was the delicious and the crust was perfectly crunchy. We then shared the Guam bomb which was a pretty decently sized plate. I appreciated how crunchy the fries were, especially since the amount of sauce on top could have easily made them soggy very quickly. I do wish there was a little more meat but it tasted yummy nonetheless. Our absolute favorite part of the meal was desert. The banana donuts!
